Hey guys,
Was playing around with my phone today and noticed there was a later version of OCLF, so I decided to give it a try. I disabled the first one, it ran it's thing, rebooted, and when I try to install the latest version, it'll say "you already appear to have another lag fix installed! (/system/bin/playlogos1 less than 5KB).
Now I have no lag fix (huge difference!). I installed ASTRO and attempted to just remove the playlogos1 file, but it gives me an error. I even SSH'd into it and it gave me an error. I restored it via ROM Manager, and still didn't work.
I can't say I'd recommend this lagfix to people.
HELP! PLEASE!!
Once you open OCLF, click on the option to "Restore Boot Animation" This fixed the same issue for me.

Definitely doesn't work for me. From what I've read, only a small percentage of people were able utilize that solution.
I ended up flashing Cognition. Sorry, but I don't recommend OCLF.

I'm going to have to disagree with you. There's nothing wrong with OCLF. I've used it on all my firmwares, no problems at all. For it's ease of use, ease of installation and removal, nothing beats it.
OCLF disabling and re-enabeling
Wow, been working my head off on this one.. restoring the boot animation worked fine with me thanks a million
restoring boot file didn't work for me
Hi,
I am having the same problem
Seems to be stuck in between lag fix and undo lag fix
I have a captivate that I bought from Rogers.
I rooted the phone, then I applied the lag fix using OCLF lag fix.
I decided to undo the lag fix in preparation of the rogers froyo release...
It seems that the undo succeeded (no obvious errors anyways)
When I went back to the OCFL app, the oneclicklagfix v2.2+ and v1+ are unavailble in red, when I "You already appear to have another lag fix installed! (/system/bin/playlogos1 less than 5KB)"
I did a restore boot animation to restore the playlogos1 file... but nothing changed.
the undo lag fixes (2.2+ and 1) are also unavailable
I tried Uninstalling ext2 tools (option available) I got this error:
Remove EXT2 Tools failed with error:Couldn't remove library libext2_blkid.so:rm:can't remove'/system/lib/libext2_blkd.so':Read -only file system.
I've checked the internal phone storage available space: 1.69 GB.
Can someone please help? Did the lag fix undo work? is it safe to upgrade to froyo with this issue (once it is release from Rogers that is)
Thanks

Thanks for the reply... do you mean I should do a Factory data reset using the phone setting option?
Hey buddy...
I had the same issue like you a couple weeks ago...I did everything you can imagine...and nothing...
I just fixed placing back the JI6 that I already had before...

no, i mean use ODIN and go back to stock...
hi i have a captivate I have the same problem with the oclf that its says that I have a lagfix and I read that I have to just put restore boot animation and its says it has a copy of a stock boot animation of a I9000 device. Those it mater if I put it in my captivate or those it ruins it?
I use to have that problem. I could solve it by restoring boot animation.
Later it doesn't work. And I think it was like flashing that caused it. I recommend you to go to stock rom and master clear then try it out.

I had been using RyanZA's lagfix. I uninstalled it using unlagfixme.bat. Then installed CFLagfix 1.7 using ext3. No other wiping or flashing.
My ROM as shown below.
Quadrant is 1500-ish, as opposed to 2200-ish with RyanZA's using ext2. The obvious is that ext3's journaling is exacting a cost. However, I want it, and noticed lag starting to return anyway with RyanZA's fix.

I think some people just keep imagining problems. Lag starting to return.. new lag fix for one that works great? jesus
To each his own observation. My main reason for switching was to get ext3. Not comfortable with the reported file system errors cropping up in reports in the other forum. Speed is second, stability is first.
edit: besides, half the fun of this phone is tinkering like this.

I don't know, I had file system corruption with RyanZA's lagfix almost instantly, and I don't feel like flashing away from the stock kernel until we've got a full AOSP 2.1 or 2.2 build ready (hopefully with the god awful samsung RFS completely removed!) Honestly, these fixes are all band-aids anyway until someone can find a way to remove RFS entirely.
So for me, I'll deal with the lag for a few more weeks, by then, I'm sure Eugene or someone will be close, if not done, with an AOSP build.
=)
im trying to run it but it keeps locking up at the data/app move. Gonna try it again.
Update: got it working. Had to uncheck the box for data/app.
New quadrant around 1500
I hoping someone will post a solid walk through for converting the virtual loop back EXT2/3 partition from this method to EXT4...
if you're comfortable with odin, flash one of JAC's kernels and mod the lag fix's to use ext4, its what i'm using now.

I meant converting the Virtual loop back partition to EXT4. I have JAC's latest OC Kernel installed right now. You will NEED JAC's kernel if you want the system to even support EXT4 at all.
i was meaning for those that have yet to do it... a nice conversion script or method would be nice, for those that have done it

heres what I did to get it to work:
Uncheck the automatic box then uncheck the data/app box. I also unchecked data/apps-private but that worked before so it could work again. Then just run it. worked fine for me.
Oh, make sure to reflash to your last recovery before redoing the process
Well I just got my cappy today. I decided to install froyo, I went with cognition.
So i rooted, installed Rom manager, backed up. Installed Titanium backup. Backed up everything i didn't knew what it was. Installed cognition.
After this when it loaded it keeps giving me this error constantly and lagging the phone. Since its my first android phone I'm not sure what to do. I didn't restored anything with Titanium, though I'm not sure if this program does this automatically...
I cleared user data and cache and the error persists.
I'm currently on Ubuntu on my pc so odin is not an option. So I want to have the phone working fast, preferrably with froyo, should i download another rom and reflash with rom manager? Any ideas on what I've done wrong or why the error is displayed?
I'm very thankfull for any sort of help, premature answers are more than welcomed
Either try to get odin to work with ubuntu... Wine?
Find someone with windows PC and odin.
Dual boot xp / 7 and do it yourself
First this is NOT the area for questions per se this is for DEVELOPMENT.
I suggest you try in the General or Q&A section or in this case the Cognition thread since that is the one having issues for you.
Without ODIN I cannot recommend anything so I suggest you try the Cognition thread amigo.
Regards
Just removed my simcard and the error stopped
Does this mean the phone is no longer unlocked?
I bought the phone unlocked so I'm not sure how to restore it to the way it was. Should the unlock code still be somewhere over my phone internal memory? Any quick ideas on how to do this? Or should i look into the whole unlocking post on froyo?

Check out this thread...http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=778609. It involves setting up a VM(virtual machine) but that is a very easy task. I hope you find this helpful. But do not flash over Cog. You need to use Odin, flash back to stock, do a master clear and then re-flash Cog via CWM.
You prob's flashed Cognition right after the reboot forced by ClockworkRecovery, so the media scan wasn't completed, phone freaked and just lost most of its powarrrr.
Oh yeah: wrong subforum...

That sounds logic. Any ideas on what should I do so I can make the phone stop giving me this error with my simcard inside?
btw i dont know if this has anything to do but with my simcard inside i noticed 2 things
First it gets gsm signal crashes, looses the signal, regains it and this loops over and over.
After this i also noticed one service restarts over and over when this happens

This happened to me once, so I went back into recovery and used CM to reflash. My files were still on the root of the internal SD card, so I figured I'd give it a shot. It worked for me - cleared up my FC problems.

Select reinstall - hopefully it will launch the CM recovery mode. Then you can select to install from the SD card.
Just reinstalled cognition but it still has the same problem. Should i download the i9000 reoriented and try with that one to see if by any chance...?
Did you try reflashing with sim card out? Maybe a master clear would help too?
Yes the last time i tried with the simcard out. I'm guessing the phone is still unlocked, a master clear woudn't change this? If anyone can confirm this I'll try it asap.
I'm downloading as well Doc's rom 7.5 to try reflashing that instead, I can do that or I have to downgrade and then reflash?

I think the problem could be that your unlock code was deleted. When you flashed. If you can not use odin try this, find the jh7 ota update. I think you can get it from the cognition download page. Flash this it will bring you back to a 2. 1 Rom. Read up on how to unlock your phone. Unlock then copy the unlock code. Then flash cognition again and follow steps to unlock.
If you are on the newest cog make sure you disable the voodoo lagfix prior to flashing. I can not guarantee this will work but it is worth a go. If you created a nandroid prior to flashing once you are on jh7 you should be able to restore

Cog 2.2
Hey y'all,
I'm hoping someone can help me with this....I have a rooted Samsung Vibrant with an Auxura Custom Rom, but i am not to fond of the the lag fix it comes with. I downloaded RyanZA's OCLF from the market but cannot run a lag fix cause I already have one that came with the rom. Is it as simple as deleting the old one straight from the rom's .zip file? I would really appreciate the help and guidance. Thank you in advance!
you may try to use the function of "Restore Boot Animation" in the OCLF which can restore the original unrooted setting of your I9000.
try the voodo lagfix..

I'm having a problem installing CM 7.1 and all the speed/memory tweaks. Ive used MANY different roms with alot of tweaks but this one i driving me crazy. Im trying to install CM 7.1 in CWR 2.5.0.7 with the following tweaks...Firerats 1.5.9 auto patcher and KERN 2.6.35.14-10sept-v1 .....the problem is that i can not get it to boot!!!! if i dont install firerats the rom doesnt boot and goes back to CWR...if i do install firerats the screen just hangs on the htc logo...but without the tweaks CM7.1 boots fine
Please help!!
I did the following with success (this is from memory, hopefully I don't miss anything), I'm using firerats 1.5.8. I did not use a single fr patcher.
First, I flashed the firerats REMOVE zip, just to make sure I was really starting over. then flashed the latest CWM unofficial recovery...5.0.2.6.
rebooted to recovery after each step above though, and repeated wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache.
for firerats, had the mdpartmap settings at 125, 20 (just being extra cautious there, I'm seeing some lower numbers bandied about).
Anyway, from the pretty blue recovery screen, I then flashed fr-recovery, (I think it tells you to reboot to recovery again when done, possibly wiping again, anyway, it tells you) then flashed cm 7.1, gapps, kernal, and finally, fr-boot.
Seems I've heard of folks having some difficulty if they don't use a newer recovery, perhaps others can chime in on this.
After some initial settling in and reboots (it was a little hot at first, a few things were a little flakey), everything seems to be running great. I've only had it on here a few days, and I have not tweaked any performance settings, but so far, gps has been rock solid (isn't this ALWAYS a sticky point for some?) and runkeeper has stopped being so crash happy. Need to see how these things behave with age. A clean installation fixes a lot of things for awhile.
Okay, fired up gps status app, and boom, reboot. But like I said, haven't tweaked any performance settings, left everything at defaults. Will tinker eventually.
wow!!! thank you so much for the very fast reply. I am at work at the minute but i am going to try this ASAP!! Thanks again.
I will keep you informed as to how this worked out. Looks like it should work though

Hmm, not sure, did you use the gapps from the OP for CM7.1? Could try redownloading that and flashing it again.
also, what were your firerat settings in the partmap file? Just checking, in case you didn't use mine, which were generous, as I said.
That rather larger second number in the partmap file resolves a lot of market issues, I never have to apply any "market fixes"
My fault. I used 125 2 in the mtd instead of 125 20....worked great!!! now i can use the market...thank you so much!!! just have ooooooonnnneeeeee other small problem.
Now by busybox wont work. Keep saying no root access when obviously i do...and also i can not fix permissions in rom manager..theres always a problem eh.
Hope you can help...you've been great so far!!! got loads more internal space now
Hrm...I have to admit to never using busybox, at least not directly, I usually just install it if asked when I install/update Titanium Backup (after checking the allow unknown sources in applications settings). Are you trying to execute busybox from terminal or something? Apologies if you tried this but if you have Titanium (you should if you don't), then do this:
Go to titanium backup, go to problems then it will install busybox
I just cut and pasted that from ... somewhere.

It's been quite a learning curve getting my Sprint CDMA Galaxy Tab and attempting to load every Miui, CM7/CM9 I could find on XDA and Rootzwiki. I never fully tested my tablet before beginning the delve into the flashing world so I don't know if this is an issue with the tablet itself or caused by my endless flashing trials.
I simply am unable to save any settings or data. Everytime I boot up, no matter which ROM (Miui CM7/9), it is always factory reset. This is quite frustrating.
I'm back on stock from odining Sprint EF17 GB w/ original PIT file and this is still happening. Does anyone have any idea if this was self-incurred or if there is a partitioning bug of some sort that I have missed.
Much Thanks in advance!
So every time you turn on your Tab it loads and then reboots in a continuous loop? Do you see the Android OS unlock screen or the load process does not gets so far? Because if it does not then in my opinion the boot loader is incorrect for some reason. That is my opinion.
What you can do if you suspect that the PIT is incorrect, you read your PIT and save via Heimdall and compare it with somebody else who has the same Tab as you have.
Unable to personalize "issue"

Negative. This is not a continuous loop bug. It is a "unable to personalize" bug. I can install market/apps/data/contacts etc etc, but every single time I boot up. it's a Fresh Copy with no personalized settings.

Yes I booted into CWM,fixed permissions, rebooted, put 2-3 icons on desktop, rebooted.
Nothing, it was back to factory default settings.
A permissions issue does make sense, but it didn't work and this is just mind boggling to me.

I'm sorry you have the same problem.
However I'm glad to have someone to share it with. Misery loves company. I've scoured the web for 3 days and have nothing.
Please if anybody knows what's going on. From my non-developer logic I need to find a way to get the changes I make to my phone to write permanently (so to speak), everything I do is temporary until I reboot.
Hmmmm... I suppose you guy's already tried to wipe all caches and reflash the kernel (= not the ROM, just the kernel) ?
Where do I find the Kernal?
It's the zImage file right?
The ROM I'm on right now is JT's CM7 here:
I wanted to try just flashing the kernal but I am unable to locate the zImage file. What directory is it in?
Edit: I found the Kernal, it's actually in the CWM 5.0.2.7 package. I'm gonna try flashing the kernal over to see if it fixes the issue.
Edit2: No cigar, reflashing kernal does not fix this issue. On a side note, I tried to upgrade to CM9 and got "Encryption Unsuccessful". Not that I am knowledgable in this, but it seems the issue may share some commonality with that.

I think you have my issue confused with another . My issue is that everytime I boot it's a clean boot with google account reset/desktop reset. I can't save any settings or download any apps without it getting wiped by a boot. I don't even think my ROM is currently overclocked but I'll look to see if indeed it's hiding in here somewhere.
Let me know if you see anything else that I can try :-(
Thanks though
Edit: Just checked, my system was not overcloccked and set on boot was not checked so this is definetely not the same issue.
