Woking 1.5 and 1.6 vanilla ROMs.

I have been working on getting vanilla android to work on the Tattoo as I am not a big fan of all the modifications that HTC have done to their rom.
I am now launching the first usable version of the rom.
Phone calls and sms work, so does wifi, camera, gps and sensors.( thanks to fyodor)
Camera works only in android 1.6 I'll try it in 1.5 latter on today.
All aplications work.
Bluetooth and fm radio aren't working yet.
For the next release I'll be focusing on getting bluetooth to work.
The rom comes in two flavours :
ANDROID 1.5
ANDROID 1.6

this should be 120 i guess... try it & let us know what is the result....

They are the same modifications to init.rc that worked for the 2.1 rom but have no effect what so ever for 1.6 .
I might be missing something. I extract the boot.img and I add that line to the end of the init.rc file. Should I be doing something else too?
I'll try with 120 once I'm sure I'm editing it corectly.

You could start with the values from the stock HTC rom

Thanks mainfram3. Just got touchscreen to work.
I'm uploading now version 0.002.
So it seems that camera doesn't work, wifi, bluetooth and gps.
I suspect some would be fixed in the build.prop maybe someone else can check it out too. I'm calling it a night.
The rom feels very fast and finally a grey task bar.
Take it for a spin and see how it goes.

To fix WiFi you need to compile the proper driver against your kernel source or use HTCs kernel + their wlan.ko.
For bluetooth take a look at the files in /system/etc.
And gps is related to libgps.so

I am using the HTC kernel + their wlan.ko and I'm still not getting any results.

I'm still stuck at getting wireless to work. I even got android 1.5 and 1.1 working on the tattoo just for fun.

I just finished uploading the 1.5 rom. It has working wifi. I'm now working on getting wifi to work on 1.6 too and I'll upload that one later during the day.

Is 1.6 rom fully working?

Camera, gps, bluetooth and accelerometer aren't working yet.
Any help in getting them to work is highly wellcomed.

This rom boot longer than usual becouse i had to put some boot delay otherwise apps2sd does not work. apps2sd does not move dalvik-cache.
Rom does not include new radio. If you want new radio apply first version and later this one.
Feel free to test it.
IF you want to use this rom dont complain and dont ask for instructions everything is on this forum!

if you open the zip and look into the meta directory for the update script, there we can see how he does it

i was only interested in fixing gsm ringtone bug which is fixed in this release, rom was cooked with basix android kitchen found in chef central section.
i dont have time to do more

How much space is left on the internal memory after a fresh install of this ROM? Can anyone tell?

I don't recall, but somewhere around 90-100 MB I think.

Yes, root remains, and no A2SD included.

Works perfectly on mine, with Root of course.
Radio signal seems to be a bit better.

Just one information, this rom still have the HTC sense right?

Sense, yes..
Languages, well I think so. Dutch is also there, so French would be there too I guess.. Can someone confirm?

But.... I have problems with wireless tether that cannot connect the computer to the web. Do you tried it?

I have the same problem. Dunno if there's a solution. It connects fine but can't open any pages. It worked fine with custom tether.edify and rodriguez rom.

Same here, but wired works, and it seems like the 3g issue with arrow up is solved with this radio.

Froyo Car Home

Hi
I was wondering if anyone had the apk of the new Froyo Car Home, and will it work on the Hero. I was using CM6 for a few days and found it much better than the Eclair one. I've tried looking for the .apk in the ROM but can't seem to find it.

It should be there. I can't download the ROM at work so can't check it myself. I am thinking though that maybe it comes in the Gapps addon pack? Maybe take a look in there.

Comes in 2 parts, CarHomeGoogle and CarHomeLauncher, neither of them want to install :-(

How did you try and install them? If just by using say 'Astro' you would prob need to push them via adb.

Tried pushing it via Androidcommander to system/app but no dice. As I'm running a deodexed ROM would that be a problem?

Hmmm, I think the files just need to be ported to work on 2.1 Not sure how to do that myself, or even if that will even work. Hopefully someone else will know

what ?? but my htc tattoo had a java application and you can install all javas apps why not in this one??

on the htc spec sheet for the aria, it says it is java-enabled, but to what extent? i'm not sure. i've never tried to install a .jar file onto it.
there is an application in the market called "Java/J2ME Runner" by Netmite, which claims to "Run Java/j2ME/MIDP NATIVELY." perhaps that would do the trick?

are you trying to do this on the stock at&t rom that ships with the phone? i don't imagine you'll have much, if any, luck there.
i'd suggest installing attn1s CM6-FroYo rom and trying it again. if you do like the sense ui though, you could try attn1s liberated aria rom.

You should tell us the exact error you're getting and we'll better be able to answer your question. Your last post said it was being blocked. The stock ROM doesn't allow any apps to be installed outside of the marketplace regardless of what type. So unless you've rooted your phone and used one of the sideloading hacks (search the Aria forums for "side loading") then you won't be able to do this. It's not that the phone can't, but the software is getting in the way.

im trying to install java apps but att rom blocks it soo i was thinking of installing those apps without rooting but anyway i will have to rooted to install these apps
attns1 froyo doesnt support camera yet soo i might wait for that or install librated aria rom

the latest cm6 FroYo a008 has a camera fix. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?goto=newpost&t=737213

The first librated aria 2.1 which is Rom without .ATT apps that Rom doesn't allow either
And another .one froyo that one is perfect and.works great but some application not supported yet like app lock and some other

Personally I find that, as is, the ROM is responsive enough for me, solid and reliable, I have found that with setCPU running (with standard Kernel) that I get some momentairy freezes and momentairy freezes accepting calls, just so that your aware of this... with HCDR.Jaccob 4.1 Kernel I couldn't say if the same problem exists as not tested...
This ROM, as is, has no know problems (without SetCPU running)

I didn't want all the three stuff, just wanted to be able to log in to My3 which is something you cannot do without having Planet 3 installed.
I have been running this rom since yesterday and not found any problems with it so far.

What about going to www.three.co.uk with wifi turned off and then clicking My 3 Account near the top right?

There is that I suppose but it's easier if there is a direct click that you don't have to log in to each time.

Set it as a bookmark. There shouldn't be a log in if you are accessing over 3's network.

Is wireless tether not working in this ROM? Can anyone confirm? Ive tried it on 2 wildfires and multiple computers.
It seems to work, but it doesn't alert me to the connection and the computer has no internet despite the wireless connection being there.

The tether issue is a kernel issue.
My kernel seems to only enable tethering in froyo as well, not eclair for some reason.
If I get time I can compile you a kernel which is completely stock but with wireless tether enabled

What i would really like to see with this ROM is something very similar to the WildPuzzle Eclair 1.0.1 (this rom was missing the reboot option on the powerscreen and then reboot into recovery option) but with the 3 boot screen and maybe some of the apps and obviously android wifi tether working on one of them.
Jacob says its his kernel causing the tether issue, but im sure ive ran his kernels before on my eclair wildfire and had wifi tether working, also with the standard kernel ive not had it working recently. Wildpuzzle eclair 1.0 was the last distro i had it working on if that helps isolating the problem?
Just out of interest did front button wake work in this rom, i forgot to try it when i tried the rom.

Wifi Tether works for me on this rom. My pc picked it up straight away and got internet page up straight from the off. I don't mess with kernels and setting cpu etc so it's not that I've done anything to make it work.

Strange, it doesn't work for me with this ROM or Wildpuzzle Eclair 1.0.1? If its not the ROM what could it be? Any ideas anyone?

Sure adding reboot menu is fairly straightforward thanks to the guys here at XDA... so I will add as soon as I get chance....
