There is no error message it just show ! in triangle
You have to wait for 6-7 minutes to complete the process. Be sure liquid is fully charged and debug usb is activated.
Keep in mind you cannot update liquid with liquid e roms.

Thanks for you reply, I just want to add that I am trying to upgrade it through application being on SD card and by pressing camara button + down vol then power button, My Acer had Liquid Galaxy 2.1 , kernel Version 2.6.29-phh
You can't install in recovery mode cause it's not a zip file, it's a bin file. You need acer download tool, then youhave to put the recovery back gain.

delete the update.zip file or remove it from your SD Card and run the Acer DownloadTool again. AcerTool flashes a .bin file if you are using it correctly.
Just upgraded my Liquid E to 2.2. I followed the instructions in the PDF and it worked fine. I would try copying the files to the SD card again.
I'm totally lost on this. I have 2.1 stock with Malez recovery installed on it. No matter what I do, I just cannot get it to work?
Is there a step by step instruction on how to "flash" a bin file and then upgrade it for Fido phone? I have Acer Liquid E Fido. I have been working on it for 2 days now and cannot get it to work.
edit: finally got it to work by installing another (10 different) version first and reinstalling a one that doesn't have the assert

Sorry, but you can not install the acer rom. Because you are not using original rogers eclair, or you've flashed Malez recovery.
There is a couple ways you could get around this.
1. There is a Modified rom based on the official acer release at Modaco.com. It doesn't make any assert checks.
2. If you have the original rogers eclair kickin around you could flash it onto your device. You might need to flash a 2.1 eclair bin(leak) first depending on what you're running now. Once this is done you'll be able to use the acer official, and pass all assert checks.
Spice MI 300 :- Want to update from 2.1 to 2.2
Hi every one
i have a spice android phone MI-300 and want to update the 2.1 version to 2.2 manually could anyone of you guide me how to do it on my own as I dont think the company is upcoming with and 2.2 upgrade.
Please help
Abhishek
The simplest way of doing it would be flashing the latest malez recovery. Then using acer download and flashing the proper generic 1.0 rom. After then you should have went to acer website and downloaded a european (generic 2.2 rom) followed directions and did the proper upgrade. You can also apply the patch after (under patches tab)
Worked like a charm for me back in the day.

I have been trying to root my phone and seem to be having problems. I have searched and found some people having the same problems but could not find an answer.
I tried using AIO Captivate Toolbox 3.0 and when it reboots in recovery and I click on reinstall packages I get this error..
signature verification failed. Installation aborted
I tried super on click and it says its rooted and there is an superuser icon on my phone but when it asks to test to see if its rooted and asks me to check my phone, nothing happens. I then install rom manager and thats installs fine and I can install Clockwork Recovery but when I get it to boot in recovery it just brings me back to the recovery 3e and I will try to reinstall packages again and it gives me this error..
e:failed to verify whole-file signature
e: signature verification failed
So I dont know what Im doing wrong. I had a Sony xperia x10 and im use to flashing and installing roms on that. This phone is much different lol

I had the same issue and I found this solution. Worked like a charm:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=833423
Download the 3e_recovery_installer.zip file only and unzip.
Put your unit in Debugging mode and connect to the USB cable on your PC
Run the Install.bat file from DOS prompt and wait.
A temporary root will be performed (Doesn't matter if you're rooted or not, I was already rooted and had no issues)
Once completed, reboot into CWR. You will probably get the standard recovery screen. Select Reinstall Package and let it go. Select Reboot. (If the machine boots to the OS, go back to Rom Manager and reboot to CWR again to test.)
If the E3 Recovery screen comes up again, select Reinstall Package again. (Yes, you have to do it twice!)
As soon as it's done the CWR screen will pop up. From here on out, it should work as normal when selected from the Rom Manager app.
Hope that helps,
Now if someone would just post the Captivate AT&T default Notification sounds for me, I'd be a happy camper! I miss my old sounds!

What firmware are you running? If its ktq there's a previous step (cuz that firmwares system is full). There's a thread on that.
Other than that, which zip are you trying to flash (maybe link to post)?
How are you trying to flash it?
It Is Android Version 2.3.4......Baseband s5830dtlki4..........kernel 2.6.35.7-perf-cl568978 [email protected] #1.
Build Gingerbread.dtlki4
I Went into Recovery mode And Tried root.zip and update.zip wich i cant remember exact thread but both were of the forum
And Ive Read Lots And Cant figure it out
There's one called AceGingerRoot.zip, same stuff, go ro recovery (stock recovery, not cwm recovery) install zip from sd card. Then just update the superuser app from the market and its binary:

EDIT: Problem solved!
Hi all,
I just tried to install CWM Recovery on a Samsung Galaxy GT-I9000, and it didn't work.
The phone was (originally) running under Android Froyo (2.2), and unrooted. First of all, I used UnlockRoot to root it, and it worked fine. I checked the root access right after using dedicated apps (rootChecker, sdMaid, etc), to confirm.
Then I wanted to install a ClockWorkMod recovery. I followed this guide (on the CyanogenMod wiki). I downloaded and installed Kies to have the USB drivers installed. Then I downloaded Heimdall (my computer is running under Windows 7) + hardcore CMW Kernel. I booted into download mode, then installed the driver. (Step 2 on the tutorial). Then next step was flashing the kernel. It suceeded, and the phone powered off. Turning it on, it just starts to make endless boot loops. The system won't start running, and it is not possible to access to the CWM recovery menu. But the download mode is still available.
So, does anyone have pointers to help me fix this issue ? i would like to have CMW installed, and then install a custom ROM (the latest Jelly Bean based Cyanogenmod release).
Thanks in advance.
Just try again installing stock Rom with odin
See my post Here

Hi Donovan,
Thanks for the swift answer. And yes, it definitely worked. I downloaded this stock rom, and I flashed it successfully with Odin v3 1.85. I am running now under Android 2.3.6, but I lost the root access. Rooting it won't be a problem, hopefully. I still have access to the download mode, and to the stock recovery. I'll try once again to dive into the ClockWorkMod Recovery, and then install a Jelly Bean rom.
I'm hitting the thanks button right after posting this.
Thanks back at ya. Cf root you can find here

Dont forget the wiping before flashing jb.
Most times u have 2 flash custom twice.
If first time hangs just pull battery out, get in recovery & flash second time or third if its needed.
If it says install completed then its done
Much pleasure flashing the i9000
Actually, I spoke to fast, the problem just got much worse.
Okay, just after flashing the stock rom (2.3.6), everything was fine. Then I downloaded the latest stable CM10 (direct link).
I booted into recovery mode (CWM Recovery, actually) and I did try to install (i din't not forget wiping data/cache, dalvik and batt stats), but it failed, saying the package was incorrect. I tried many times, copying again and again the zip file, same problem.
Then I downloaded a previous version, CM9. I tried to installed it, and i run into a very weird error, saying an assertion failed when trying to install the package.
Something like;
assert failed: getprop("ro.product.device") == "galaxys" || getprop ("ro.build.product") == "galaxys" ... getprop ("ro.build.device") = GT-I9000 etc...
Click to collapse
And then installation program aborts (error code 7.)
My assumption, is that it looks like my phone is no longer being considered by a samsung gt i9000, according to the installer. Weird, though...
Now, I still have access to the recovery. But the phone can't boot, as everything was wiped. Much worse, I can switch to download mode, but i can't flash back the stock rom, Odin can't detect the phone (I tried with Odin v3 1.82, 1.83 and 1.87).
I'm getting desperate, any pointers ?
Thanks in advance!
Did u try to flash the custom more then 1 time?
Oh yes, I did it like a dozen of times. And I still get the same error.

gti9000 rooting
Hi Donovan, could you help me please:fingers-crossed:
I've purchased a unlocked galaxy s gti9000 and I want to root it. Something I've never done on any phone as I'm a complete noob. I managed to install XWJW1 FIRMWARE. I've now got as follows PDA:I9000XWJW6
PHONE: I9000XWJW1
CSC: I9000XSAJV8.
All the links to the file for rooting seem to be dead. I've found some for rooting XXJVU, But that's not right is it? I would really like to try ICS or Jelly Bean. I must admit I'm nervous about this as it's taken me a while to get a phone as good as this one!! Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance
@Nooga:There is a very complete and straightforward guide here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1852546). You might want to take a look at it.

Thanks Roland will give it a try tonight.
Well, that is now solved. I tried something silly that ended up working fine.
As the cm9-smtd update package couldn't run (because of the assertion fail), I just opened the zip package, then edited the file META-INF/com/android/google/updater-script.
I basically removed the assert statement at the top of the file.
CMW recovery installed it properly, without any err. I now have an ICS based rom (Cyanogen Mod 9).
Problem definitely solved now. Going to make a Nandroid backup.
Thanks all, again.
Hi all, posting my saga here if it would help someone, maybe you can comment or help. Here's the info and steps I've taken:
Info:
Device: Samsung Galaxy Tab™ 7.0" (AT&T) running stock Froyo
Model: SGH-I987 (aka GSM Galaxy Tab - P1000, T-Mobile SGH-T849)
Baseband: I987UCJK1
Steps Taken:
Rooted using SuperOnceClick - successful
Installed SGT-Bootloader-Patch-v1.00.apk, reported that I was safe, however I still cannot install unsigned zips…
To get around 3e recovery, I decided to flash a custom rom with cwm recovery built in. This is where things started to go downhill
I installed an overcome kernel which I thought would give me cwm recovery, however instead I got the thin white line on the right hand side and the robotic voice. Couldn't get to recovery
After the robotic voice I installed JJ4 bootloaders which got me a different splash screen, but at least it was booting now, still no recovery though
I think at some point I may have repartitioned as well
Then I tried a cyanogenmod install, things started to pickup because I got cwm recovery working, but the ROM install failed with an assert failure getprop("ro.product.device") … I assume this is because the device is actually and SGH-I987 but the rom is for a P1000. I deleted the assert from the install script in the zip file, however the install still fails, can't get past recovery.
The latest attempt this morning, I followed the instructions here "How to unbrick your galaxy tab" I downloaded the firmware from sammobile (Tablet, android, GT-P1000, UK / IRELAND, P1000XWJP9_P1000XXJPZ_P1000XEUKP1_HOME.tar) plus the Odin zip file containing the P1_add_hidden.pit file for repartition. Everything goes well in Odin however after reboot I have (see text and pictures below.)
E:failed to mount /data (Invalid argument)
E:install_application_for_customer: Can't mount /data
Your storage not prepared yet, please use UI menu for format and reboot actions. copy application failed.
When I reboot out of recovery, I get put into the glowing Samsung animation, which appears to blink, freeze then restart in an endless loop, I've let it run for sometime now, seems no end to it (see picture below)
I thinking I may have hosed my internal SD, but I'm not sure? Any advice to get this thing back running appreciated. My goal is to install Cyanogenmod 9 on it. Thanks.
Use overcome method, meaning you must do gb stock save v5 before overcome kernel.
Link is in my signature.

Download Odin version 1.85 and put that on your computer. Download the stock rom for your device from sammobil.com. Extract the .tar.md5 file from that using 7-zip. From Odin, plug your phone in using the USB cable while your in download mode on the phone. in PDA in Odin find the md5 file. Flash that. It'll return your phone to like new condition. You'll lose anything stored on it so make sure you back up your phone first.

It really depends on the problem.
There are a small percentage of people that has broken/degraded internal memory chip (NAND chip).
For those, there are threads dealing with removing the chip or modifying ROMs to run on external SD card entirely.
Hi, I read lots of posts here in xda on how to install custom ROM on my HTC Salsa, lot of times i felt bad as the posts always required my phone to be S-OFF. I couldn't find a nice and easy solution for this.
However somewhere i read that it is not mandatory to have S-OFF and which is when i just started experimenting on my phone.
I did unlock the bootloader from HTC dev . But i still have S-on.
I downloaded some *i9500 custom ROM and copied it to my downloads folder in sdcard. Tried to install the zip from sdcard from my CWM Recovery and it failed always. But then i thought that it could be the problem with image which i downloaded as it is not supported. So then i found one more post for HTC Salsa and downloaded the image from the link given in there.
Here is the link of that post : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2745185
Here is the link from where i downloaded the zip : http://download.androidarmv6.org/_builds/icong/
Here is the image which i downladed : cm-11-20140719-NIGHTLY-icong.zip
After getting into CWM Recovery i tried to install the same and at first it looked that it is going to install but in some time i get some error like
set_metadata_recursive.... error STATUS 7. INSTALLATION ABORTED.
Then i thought i was doing to wrong and as per some post .. i formatted all the /boot /system /sdcard ....partitions listed in CWM.
Now my sdcard is completely formatted .
After i copy my image there and try to install the same :
I get :
--Installing: /sdcard/cm-11-20140719-NIGHTLY-icong.zip
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Installing update...
E: Error in .sdcard/cm-11-20140719-NIGHTLY-icong.zip

Installation aborted.
I can't even reboot to my old ROM. .. Not sure if its lost completely. .. Need help urgently.
Please help me recover or reinstall any ROM just for my phone to come back to life again.
Please help

If your using the new icong_g CM11 then you require the installation of the new cwm 6 recovery. if you follow the guides correctly then you won't have any issues.
can i ask why you thought about trying a different model phones software on this? it would only cause some serious issues lol.
and to answer the question when u wipe and clean of any data then it will leave the original OS in place unless you flash another then its that one that replaces it

Actually when i tried to install the icong_g CM11 i think it tried to flash but the installation aborted with error 7 as i mentioned earlier and so my old ROM was washed away i guess.
Somewhere i again read i need CWM 5.0.3 and so i tried that as well. Still getting the error.
Where can i find CWM recovery 6 for HTC Salsa.?
What are the mount/unmount options should i follow. Like /system, /data. Should they be mounted or unmounted before installing the zip.
Please help me solve the problem.
Why i am failing to install the cm-11*icong all the time with error 0. Do i really need to upgrade my CWM recovery from 5.0.3 to 6 ?
Also please help he flash my phone with manual steps.
I am using Fedora 20 for using fastboot and adb.
