My phone is currently rooted but, the PRL is setup for Criket. When i dial *228 to program the phone it dials to criket.
Im needing i guess to change the PRL in the phone to get it to dial to verizon so i can activate it for there service.
ive been on the phone with verizon tech support and tried manual change and everything else and nothing worked.
Is there anyway i can do this ???
used CDMA workshop to redo back to Verizon.
THANK YOU !! QIPENGART
i called around to differnet verizon stores and I finally found a verizon tech that would try it flashing the phone and it worked ! sheww.. this has been a battle. anyways... thanks again

You can change your PRL using QPST or CDMA Workshop and Microsoft Word. There is a member here on the forums named oostah that can customize a PRL for your area if you need it. He's very good at what he does. Please post your results with the prl name and where you live. prls will vary from place to place.

On the droid incredible forum they have figured out how to load up the EPST.apk and manually load PRL's. This has enabled many to load hybrid PRL's so that roaming on Sprints EVDO network is possible. The same instructions do not seem to work on the Droid X. Has anyone figured out how to load a manual PRL file aside from *228? Such an ability would do wonders for our signal strength.
Heres the link.
I'd like to know this too. I tried ##778 like on the eris, but sadly it was a bust. I live in an area with lots of Alltel coverage and the hybrid prl of alltel towers and vzw added a good 2 bars to my signal.
Yeah same here. I'm sure a way will be found eventually.
BTW, We don't go to Ravenholm.
Odds are if it is like any other Moto device you'd need to upload it using QPST. I haven't used QPST in a while myself so I'm not sure the setup needed for use on an Android device. I only used it back in the days of hacking all the Moto dumbphones on VZW to use other software instead of there garbage OS they use to put on devices. However I do know I've seen it posted on the web that people were using QPST with the Droid when it was released.
I know that loading an Alltel PRL might not be possible on the Droid X right now, but here's a simple work around.
If you're still on an Alltel plan, as in you were grand-fathered in, you can request to be put on hybrid PRL with Alltel preference. Basically, your phone will use Alltel's system ID in your area.
I live in the Tampa area, VZW's SID is 4192, Alltel's was 42. Being on a seldom used network does get better signal in most cases.
Use qpst.
OK so my friend wanted her Hero flashed to cricket. She had a bad ESN on sprint cuz her past due bill. So i flashed the phone(well i just did the PRL) for cricket. so i get done flashing the PRL and once its done i restart the phone and she pretends to call me on her phone. TO both our surprises the phone starts dialing and then it connects and my phone starts ringing. WE Were both looking at each other like WTF! she had her phone shut off for like 2 days before this from sprint.
My question is does flashing the PRL for the cricket network allow her to use her sprint number on the sprint towers that cricket is using or something?
I've got an xt862 activated on Alltel but am unable to get mms/web configured and working. It does work on web when connected to Wifi but of course if I'm going to use this device I need mobile web. It works for talk and text but no mms and no web.
I had to manually put in the MDN/MIN in order to get my number programmed. I am in one of the few areas where Verizon and Alltel are supposedly separate. After manually programming MDN then *228 would dial to Alltel prompt as opposed to VZW's prompt before I programmed manually. The phone seems to have the vzw stock rom.
I am switching from a Motorola a854 (defective screen). I copied any programming settings from the a854 to xt862 that I could, even if they weren't necessary(IMSI, country code, etc). I did an APN Backup and Restore from my old device to the new one, and also tried an APN Backup found online supposedly for Alltel devices.
Sorry for the noob post but I've searched multiple forums in an attempt to get any resolution to this issue and wanted to avoid creating my own thread.
Any assistance would be appreciated, I do not foresee any world traveling in my future so standard CDMA connectivity is all I'm looking for.
Thanks in advance and sorry for long post, tried to be brief while remaining thorough.
huhu, if the apn restore worked u maybe just need to tick the checkbox
to activate the apn
settings->wireless & networks->mobile networks->access point names
if there is no entry u have to add the APN manually

Thanks for assistance, but I'm with Alltel (CDMA) and this device only allows selecting APNs in GSM Settings. When I Change Network Mode from CDMA to GSM or Global it will then show no service alltogether. I'm still trying, I feel if I could get the proper APN then I would be ok but I'm not sure. Thanks
Hi my question is if I flashed the 883 radio image to my xt862 droid 3 will my phone still work on verizon as long as I do not put a gsm sim card in the phone. My phone is sim unlocked so it can work outside us with a sim but I would like for now the option of att prepaid like h2o or straight talk for $45 a month while in us and I have seen many people talking of how to flash 883 and phone works on att but nobody says if it still functions on verizon still. So I guess my main point to the question is if flash the radio image 883 will my phone still work as it does now with verizon but then if I pick up a prepaid sim card and put it in and select gsm for network it will function on the prepaid network till I remove it and then can I put the network settings back. The reason I ask it I still have 1yr and 2month till my contract is up with verizon and I would like to have the phone on att pre paid or straight talk after that to save money I love the phone but hate the cost of verizon and the data limits.
Thank you for any and all imput. Dennis
No but you can flash radios back and forth and change build.prop as needed and it seems to work.
Sent from my XT862 using XDA
883 and verizon
Thank you for the quick response and it is as I feared. Lol I guess all I can do is get all the files and info I will need and wait till my contract is up b4 I do it I am stuck on verizon for another yr and 2 months then I will flash it so I can save money. Again thank you for the clarity on this
Actually, the answer is yes, the XT883 radio can be programmed with QPST using a service programming file with VZW authentication values and PRL and it functions in Global mode with full CDMA/EvDO service and can be switched via the Mobile Networks menu to GSM.
I had my D3 setup like this although it was not activated on VZW at the time.

I'd be very interested in doing this if you could help out with a link or something pointing that way. this is exactly what i want to do, but finding the info is proving very hard
I have a retail verizon Moto X that I purchased from a friend. The calling does not work. It says "Mobile Network Not Available". The friend was using it on T-Mobile, I don't know if somehow the radio settings for the phone got internally changed when he did the 4.4.2 update. I've factory reset the phone several times, got a new sim card, trouble shouted with Verizon.
Why is the data and texting working, but the calling is not?!!
Driving me crazy.
Please advise!!!!
Edit* To make sure I'm clear, I'm trying to use the phone with Verizon, my friend was using with T-Mobile.
It sounds like the CDMA radio is not working.

So do you think it is physically defective?
When I bought the phone off of him it was basically brand new in the box. He had used it less then a week. Not sure where he bought it but the IMEI was clean.
Is there anyway to reset the CDMA settings or anything like that?
Did you call verizon and register the phone with them? I'm curious, don't Verizon/Sprint/RW phones have an ESN in addition to an IMEI for their CDMA radio?
Our imei can be backed up and flashed..only use once every thing is OK...I've used this several times with the mobile network not available problem and it fixes it...I would suggest sbf http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2514095
Do not flash this if your already having problems

if you want to use it on verizon, then buy out a new verizon sim
and please check phone is not related to any older verizon account.
CDMA use MEID/ESN
GSM use IMEI.
If you are trying to use it on a CDMA network, then i do not know what is happening, because my one is not working with GSM, but working with CDMA

Yes, I called verizon and gave them the MEID. In the system settings the the IMEI and MEID are exactly the same except the IMEI has one extra digit at the end (it's a 4).

I have already got a new sim, and the phone is not related to any older verizon account.
When I run the CQATest and choose the sim card test, I get an error that says the Phone ICCID doesn't compare with the SIM ICCID.
The phone ICCID is completely different front the SIM ICCID. The SIM ICCID is the actual number on the sim card. Could this be related?!
I had the same issue after a friend of mine used my VZW MotoX on TMobile.
He upgraded from 4.4 to 4.4.2 while he had it running on TMo. I think that the update applied GSM Radio firmware and not the VZW/CDMA firmware and "broke" the radio.
After .sbf back to VZW stock everything works great
