CyanogenMod RC4 !
I second that!!!
It depends on what you mean by best. There is nothing working perfect as of date. There are a few niggles in all of them, but they are all usable.
For good battery life try cronos 1.5. All of Dexter's mods are great, motomiui, motofroyosense 0.25v. And as already mentioned, there is CyanogenMod
i'm using miui. nice ui and very fast
CM4M

CyanogenMod RC4 ! Very nice!
You could find the best mod by your experience.
Try everything (with caution) and you will understand what's the best mod for your milestone

I am currently using Cyan Mod 5.0.6 and I noticed that the performance was not as smooth as the previous one ( especially the launcher ). I am planning on switching to Enomther. Can anyone please tell me which one will have smoother and better performance ( according to your opinion ) ? Thanks in advance
Imo, Enomther has better perfomance, I went from CM 5053 to Enomther to CM 506 and back to Enomther..
Enomther Rom is minimalistic and smooth

I believe phone quality has to do with the radio.. not the ROM?
But i have no issues so far... as far as features it has almost identical features to CM, Apps2SD.. Launcher auto rotate.. all that..

Not really though, since the phone call quality increasingly improved from CM 5.0.5.3 to 5.0.6
its probably due to the OTA radio upgrade that is essantial for CM6
If call quality has changed then it is likely due to a radio update.
Anyway, on topic, I prefer Enomther's ROMs to begin with, it just seems overall faster and more stable for me. It really comes down to personal preference. There are lots of great ROMs out there and some you may even like better than these CyanogenMod of Enomther's Official Nexus1 ROMs.
Point: If I had to choose between just these two, then Enomther for now.
Yes! I like this enomthers! Now I have FM Radio working well!
I experienced Korean Radio upg and I'm enjoying. (5.08.00.04).
Another vote for Enomthers here as well. I have used Cyanogen in the past but feel that Enomthers is much more stable.
If U only have the 2 choices, then take Enomthers for a spin
You could try them both for yourself and make up your own damn mind.
It takes maybe five minutes to restore a nandroid backup if you don't like what you see.

I know, right? I don't get why people would buy an N1, a bona-fide Google Developer phone, if they're just gonna *****-foot around flashing a few roms...
Like mtw says: "I ain't scared of no damn battery pull!"
Try cm6.1. It's fast and smooth and feature lots of things. Them flash a wild monks kernel. Happy life for me!

Hi guys, I got this phone for free with bell mobility as my 2nd phone for my business line. I'm going to be using this phone only to make phone calls. No internet, ever. No wifi, maybe some bluetooth once in a while. No games, no apps. I have a Galaxy nexus for that.
Which rom would be the best for good battery life?
Thanks guys
Talking about the battery life and from personal experience,I would suggest using MIUI rom. The battery lasts for at least 2-3 days(for me) with normal use(wifi, music etc),so should go a far way if only used for calls.
Alternatively, if you prefer Sense UI,I've heard good things about the battery life of Android Revolution HD.
Finally,it's always best to just test several roms yourself in real life situations for several days, and then picking the rom which suits you best.
after playing with it a bit I'm not a big fan of sense...
I'll give miui a try, thanks

+ 1 use tiamat uv to - 50 all values
+1 for miui. might just be in my head, but seems to be even more battery efficient than cm7.

What version of MIUI do you use? There are so many I was going to wait for the updated galnetmiui ics one.
I would take the CM7 Nightly#146 and edit the .zip file and remove all the .apk files from system/app that you don't need.
That will give you a very light ROM.
Hello! I just started to realize that other roms than the original is much better. I just installed the MIUI 1.9.9 rom for SGT and i like it alot. It looks great. Does anyone know any other roms that look good and are really fast? I want the fastest i can get. Cheers!

BOCA RC1 is the Fastest rom that i've tested.

okok. So do you or anyone else knows how this stands up against MIUI 1.9.9 in design and speed?
Try it, that's the only way you will ever know.
What is <Better / Faster / Battery Life> type threads are very user subjective.
Try, Test & Choose.
Thread Closed.
So, I have a pretty nice phone right now, but i want to know how to improve it. What is the best possible setup for speed on the htc hero?(rom, mods, etc.)
Latest Cyanogen mod.

cm7.2
hero-gingerbread-deck-1.3
takes part of CM7.1 and pares it down even further. But, seems like the performance and battery life on aosp roms (i.e. aosp, deck's roms, and CM) has been best for me.
If you can't be without sense and the scrollable widgets, try out Zero Hero by Matt Crystal and co.
So i want to mod my sister's touchpad. But IDK which CM is the most stable. Any suggestion?
Also is MIUI more stable than CM?

I use the official cm9 nightlies with hardly any problems.
I prefer CM over MIUI, but that's me. There are many who like it the other way around.

what's the difference between nightlies and alpha?
Also, is this consider "stable" or more like beta/alpha?

The nightlies are published between the alpha releases. The alphas are supposed to be more stable, but at this point I feel that the nightlies are just as stable. The CM9 alphas have wifi problems, which have been fixed in the latest CM9 nightlies.
CM 7.2 should be about as stable as you get. I have never used them, though, since CM9 is so stable.
consider the cm9 alpha obsolete for about 6 months. the cm9 nightly is still being updated to this day.

guess i'll use CM 9 nightly. I can't even find the CM 7.2 for hp anywhere. Also, is it just me or the camera doesn't work?

No ROM has a working camera for the Touchpad.
EDIT: for ICS. My bad.
Both CM7 & CM9 seems to be stable enough. If you need camera, I heard that it's works on CM7.
thx for your help.
2 more questions but slightly off topic:
Did you guys calibrate the battery on ur touchpad?
I heard there's Beats Audio on the touchpad for WebOS. did you guys install something like this? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1525226 . Does this mean that Beats Audio is nothing more than software and not hardware?

Google developers have said that the effectiveness of battery calibration is a myth.
Beats Audio is just software; it's an equalizer. You can install Beats on the Touchpad with a mod. I don't know about the one you linked, but I tried out a mod of DSPManager that used Beats. (Was not impressed.)

I'm using the mod from this link - TP sounds much better (like in WebOS), especially speakers. U should try this)
For some reason, some game's tilt control is totally messed up (even if i calibrate it with the ingame option). Is this one of the Known bugs of CM 9 nightly?
Hi, im on AOKP M6 unofficial and everything work great

So the cm9 night lies are the best from the current bunch. But I'm still using the last OaT LnT build. If you can find it, its superb. Just seen a post that he might come back soon to include the new camera drivers being developed and tested so I'd highly recommend using them asap

K i tried the mod form that link out. Wasn't impressed too. I wasn't impressed with Beats Audio in WebOS too, for most songs, it added a very small amount of bass. for rock songs, it made the guitar a little bit more clear.
Mods, u can close this thread if you want to as the question have been solved.
