Hey, noob question here.
I rooted and flashed Cognition v2.3b4 yesterday for the first time. Never rooted a phone. Today I realized that theres a v2.3b6. I shouldn't have used google to find the rom. :S
So I downloaded clockwork and followed standard procedure. Downloaded the b6 zip and installed it using clockwork. Did I do it right? Or should I have flashed back to stock first? or done a master clear or data reset first?
It seems to work fine but gets a lower score in quadrant, but only by a bit.

Quadrant scores are meaningless. B6 is much better then any other version of cog I have been on. I have never flashed stock and have updated my rom atleast half a dozen times. I have never had an issue but some say you should flash stock
As long as you disabled voodoo you should be OK. I have never deleted data and I have flashed at least a dozen times. Since DG put out the clockwork flashable roms it isn't totally necessary to flash back to stock. If you have problems though, that's the way to go.
Ah, I didn't disable voodoo. I just loaded up the zip file and installed using clockwork. Would that interfere with anything? It seems to be running fine.

As stated, if it's running fine then no problem, I think voodoo gets wiped anyway, didn't used to be that way though, so my bad. The disabling of voodoo is for making a functional rom backup with rom manager, I believe. Let me know if I'm wrong... again, . Everything changes fairly quickly.

I was attempting to perform the lag fix on my phone and long story short, i pushed the wrong button. I now have the 1 gb partitioned somewhere on my phone, but that is where the process stopped. How can I get my memory back to normal so that I can perform the lag fix the correct way?? Any other ideas would be also be considered. Thanks for your help!
Which lag fix were you using? They all work a bit differently
Thats the bad part. Im not sure which version I was doing. I was attempting to do this through adb when the lag fix first came out for the Captivate. I was probably a little over my head but have always been pretty quick at picking up technical things. Would flashing back to stock rom using Odin fix this problem?

An Odin flash should do it. If you're using one of the old style lagfixes like the Tayutama update.zip or the One Click Lagfix, it's just a bubble living on RFS so it gets wiped out with a flash easily. If it was voodoo the newer versions of it wipe with an Odin flash as well- so you should be fine

Old versions required it... newer versions supposedly don't. I always manually disable it either way, I don't want to chance the BS that I had to put up with back in the day when odin didn't touch it =P

Hi,
What would you recommend setting the size of the EXT2 partition in OCLF to? Just got Cog 2.2 running, so... yeah... thanks!
hmm.... I set mine as high as it can go, but then again, I don't have many apps. I kinda have this question myself.. anybody have ideas?
I set it to max also, ~1500mb. I did default 850 or so last time and got low space warnings after restoring my titanium backup
Its weird because I haven't even been able to get it to work... I keep getting errors trying oclf at the default setting. Just out of curiosity, does this need to be installed right after a fresh flash, or does it matter if all my apps are installed already?
Sent from my froyo'd out cappy

It shouldn't matter. I installed it after I had installed my apps and it worked fine.
i just set 1 GB for EXT2
i tried it this morning and it borked the hell outta my phone. hade to start all over again. one of these days ill learn not to do this stuff until i have time to fix it if something goes wrong
ive read somewhere that it may not work if you have apps installed on your sd card, but it was never confirmed. for me, the lagfix did not work when i installed 2.2, rooted manually, etc. but when i did a fresh install, cog 2.2, and lagfixed before restoring my apps, it went fine
Hi..
Isn't there chances of data corruption with ext2?

I used default setting to enable OCLF 2.1+ and it worked well first day. Today, I couldn't open email with force closes. I disabled it and now email works fine. So there may be some issue here with Cog 2.2 beta - Froyo.

I confirm that. OCLF kept failing on my cell until i started with a fresh install and applied the fix before restoring apps.
In the end I removed it, is not perfectly stable and the phone is already very snappy without it. I'll wait for Voodoo
voodoo is out except it is in beta stages i think stage 3

Voodoo is not out for Froyo (2.2) Voodoo only works on 2.1

You are rooted right? The OCLF from the market won't work without root.
Alright guys one more time
RyanZa's lagfix is really really well built and he put a ridiculous amount of checks into it. It will not work when you have restored with TIBU because undoubtedly some of the apps you installed are set to default install on your sd card. That being said you really cant do the lagfix with them installed because they are actually not on a separate sdcard, just a partition of your sd card that your OS is on as well. That means the OCLF cant unmount the card to copy **** off of it and hence the lagfix will fail with a loop0 error. So if you want to do the lagfix and have all you crap on your phone and dont want to start again, go into your applications menu, tap manage, and the sdcard and then delete all your apps off of it that are there(prob only a few if you havent moved more yourself). After you've deleted those apps reboot phone, run OCLF and then get TIBU to restore missing apps.
DONE AND DONE!
P.S. i am that guy you heard it from......i have posted it like 4 times i think.
P.P.S forgive me if i am coming off short, i am in school and pulled an all nighter studying for tests! Dont mean to be

It also won't work just because you restored with TiB. If you did a batch backup and had EVERYTHING restored, well that's just really stupid of you. That restore deleted the newer 2.2 services and files with your old 2.1 services and files. If you then proceed to install the OCLF, you're going to get errors and FC's.
You must start off with a freshly installed, rooted JI6 before you go about installing the lagfix. That way you don't have to worry about where any of your applications get installed to, and there's less data for the OCLF to move around coincidentally speeding up the entire process.
I ran OCLF after using the batch restore of my apps with TBu and everything went just fine for me. I guess it was just luck of the draw our something.
I guess so. But so far everyone that's asked me for help has done the batch restore with the old services+files and/or hasn't rooted their device yet.
I did 1023mb (close enough to 1gb) and get around 1800 quadrant scores.
To me it sounds reasonable.
First a bit of background. I have a i9000m Bell breed running JH2, I rooted it to unlock the SIM at first and have been running on Telus. I had RyanZA's OCLF installed on it. One day it shut down on it's own a few times and then it wouldn't boot. So I restored it and reinstalled OCLF, then I removed the lag fix in the program. Today I was going to add it back on but it says unavailable.
Now a could things, I think I undid the lag fix in OCLF but I can't remember if I did for sure or not. I know the phone is still rooted. What can I do?
op, the first thing you can do is to post this in the right forum.
my take is to reflash to jh2. of course, if you have the 3-button combination working.

Sorry about posting in the wrong forum, wasn't sure which one to use.
So it says I have a lagfix installed already. It there anyway to check this? Because I am not 100% sure that I was using RyanZA's fix from the start.
I do have the 3 button working and I did reflash JH2 not too long ago when my phone messed up on me. After installing I lost everything but still have the Superuser. But the lagfix has not worked since.
Use apps2sd to Check if you have anything installed in the sdcard, & move them back. then try.

Does that come installed on the phone? I can't find it?
you can install it only if you have Froyo 2.2 which is not released for the public yet

OK, I'm still on 2.1
So what can I do? Or check?
I have been trying to resolve this issue for a day now. I flashed to 2.2 Froyo, unlocked and rooted my Stock Rogers Samsung Captivate. Everything is working fine, I started downloaded all my favourite apps back when I had stock firmware. A few hours into using my phone, I noticed apps that I used to be able to find weren't showing up. I am not sure if it is related, but I noticed this after removing bloatware with titanium backup.
I installed following this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=861103
After searching forums for hours, the solution seemed simple, modifying a line of code in the build.prop file and overwriting the old one. I have tried this one:
ro.build.fingerprint=verizon_wwe/inc/inc/inc:2.2/FRF91/231334:user/release-keys
with no luck. I decided to reflash the 2.2 rom as I assumed removing the bloat ware was the cause, but I am still having the same market issues.
I am not sure where to go from here, did anyone experience similar problems? Any possible solutions? I really want DBZ scouter back

I got the Cognition files and the Odin standalone, but I'm confused as to where to get the other files
• PIT.pit
• PDA.tar
• PHONE.tar
• CSC.tar
I can't find the download link on the thread

Cognition has had this since the first release
Im trying to find the Cognition Odin install but its not on the site, the site only has the ROM files. I would ideally want to install with rom manage as it would be a lot easier but my market is so messed up its not even showing up when i search it.

you dont need to install rom manager
put the update.zip on your sdcard and reboot to recovery....
reinstall packages (it will reboot, just reinstall packages again)
you will now be in clockwork
install zip from sdcard, and point to the rom

Thank you so much for the zip file, everything went smoothly. I liked the voice telling me how much time each process would take. However, when I searched the app store for DBZ scouter it still cant find it, or any other paid apps! This is getting really frustrating. Should I give it a few minutes/hours for the paids apps to show up? I am enjoying the rom though, very smooth compared to the stock ones.
It looks like I'm not the only one

I guess it was just a coincidence that this happened the same time I unlocked my phone.. heh. Well now I can finally go back to studying for exams
Moved to Q&A.
tried to restore stock with one click and it wont flash the boot.img . Said something like INFOPreinstallaton error. Cant root either. What to do?
Well, first off, your question is in the wrong thread...it will most likely be moved soon...
second....did you update to .893?
Edit: if so and your bootlooped.... this is the one you want http://rootzwiki.com/topic/7801-roo...v10-linuxwindows-get-root-after-893-ota-oops/
ill move my questions. Sorry! Yes and no. Did forever root, flashed update, flashed liberty rom. Then i noticed the version was back to 886 so i tried the oneclick instead of backup and thats when the error for boot.img showed but everything else flashed. My phone is running but i cant root it shows an error as well. thanks for the reply.

when you flashed liberty, you flashed .886 system, but the .893 kernel and radio remained. not sure which one click you used to lose root, are you sure you lost root? if, so.... this is just my opinion and what i would do....I would run th3orys and dhackers fix above and flash 2.1 when it comes out.
i will try that. Thanks for the info.
