Windows mobile 6.1 Rom

Does someone knows if there is a WM 6.1 ROM for the Wings?
I see several devices that already work with WM 6.1 but I can't find one for the Wings.

I have been wanting to make one. But I cant seem to find a Windows Mobile 6.1 standard version.. Only the Pro for touch screens...

If I can find a standard ROM, what more do I need to create a cooked ROM?

You would need a kichen to cook it.. Kaiser kitchen works.
Hard to tell if you need anything else without alittle try and fail.
But an OS would help a lot.. I tried flashing a Pro version to my wings..
Did not work out well

I'll keep an eye open for the standard version.
it seems that the Motorola Q9 is already equiped with 6.1 standard (possibility to rip the rom?)

Yes, it is possible. But it would come with alot of Motorola SW included, and no HTC SW... So that would take some work I guess..

mmmmm.. first we have to find a person who has such a phone

BTW what is all the buzz for? What are new features/improvements compared to WM6?

It was told that there is more free ram at boot. And hopefuly some minor bug fixes

i really want 6.1

I think we are all waiting to someone who will make it. To be honest - original ROM is not a masterpiece. My previous device was HTC TyTN and there are many available ROMs for this dev. We have to hope there will appear someone like dutty (IMO best ROM creator for TyTN). Meanwhile we can just sit and cry for him/her

I really want it too.

I hardly doubt WM6 Pro could be used as a base. Either it is impossible (most probable) or work on adoption to Standard would be too hard.

Yes, I do. In my opinion differences of the architecture of whole OS will be big. And altough I'm really interested in WM generally I didn't hear about any successful attempt of porting from PPC -> Smartphone.

If microsoft officially released WM6.1 standard it should not be so hard to find/rip it? right?

IMO they should just make it available to buy just like any other version of Windows!

Hi Guys,
I recently bought a HTC S730 with Windows Mobile 6 standard - I am slightly disappointed with this userfriendlyness of this software (you have to tap/click to many times to get what you want). I have read a lot of posts in these forums, but can not seem to find a way to change.
I am looking for is some newbie step by step guide explaining in detail how I should flash with new modded software... I am an experienced C# developer, so technical things shouldn't be a problem
I have radio version: 25.62.30.03H_1.58.17.02
Hoping for some help.

as to today, there is no new ROM available for the Wings.
but an official flash is easy as.... just run an exe file, the phone reboots, you wait for 10 mins and voila! done.
Not official roms are a bit trickier...

HTC Home Plugin and WM6.1 from O2

Hi All,
A new person on here and to HTC. I opted for the TYTN II and have found it fantastic (except for those bright days when I cant see the screen outside) However, I rather foolishly rushed into upgrading the OS to WM6.1 when O2 released it. Now my Home Plugin freezes the device and I need to Hard Reset it. Anyone found a way around this or am I the only one....
Using HTC TYTN II, CE OS 5.2.19212 (Build 19212.1.0.3)
Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional.
If all else fails does anyone know how to reset back to the original WM6 as I have read that even if I can go back, the "bugs" I now have will still be there.

I think there are several home plugin versions, which one are you using?

Why not upgrade to a Cooked ROM?
Check out this Wiki pages for the Kaiser, there are some ROM Flashing FAQ's and guides. And all other useful posts are in the "Getting Started" in my Sig.
In case you feel like asking "which one?", just try one and see what you think if you don't like it, try another until you find one you like, or you can just go back to the Stock O2 ROM if you really arn't happy, but I bet you will be.
As a freebie I'd say try Hang Tuah's ROMeOS 4.1

Thanks for that, I thought I was using the HTC Home Plugin 2.1 not too sure if it was the N2A fix tho..
I have tried other "Home" but really like this one as its sleeky and goes so well with the TYTN II with good sized icons.
Do you have any ideas why this one wont work or if there are any others around with a good "TouchFlo" feel to them.
Thanks too about the ROM flash info - very exciting - would love to try it but as I only have the one Xda I dont want to destroy it just yet ( I do have a rather cavalier approach to tinkering and it tends to get expensive)

hi i am new to all this but i have managed to hardspl my kaiser and also sim unlocked it and removed the cid.
i am now looking at flashing a rom but i would like a rom that has good look and also if possible has windows messenger and you tube allready in it and a smart look. can you recomend one?
also as i have unlocked this and i want to use it with t-mobile in the uk how can i put the mms sms and internet settings onto the handset to allow it to work with my t-mobile sim card
any help would be greatfully appreciated thanks

It is very difficult to recommend one since we all have our own preferences. The best thing to do is decided are you going to go with WM 6.1 or WM 6.5, the next step is to pick a ROM and read the thread about it, seeing what the chef has put into his ROM and then finally...flash...that is the only way that you find the ROM that you like the best....

what is the differance between the 6.1 and 6.5 is one more stable than the other. also i have seen the athineOS too which i know runs on 6.5 but i dont fully understand what it is

6.1 has been officially been released, but 6.5 has some improvements in it, but it has not been officially released, but the chefs here have been able to craft some pretty good ROMs that are stable and workable.
Myself, I have chosen to stay with 6.1, because I have seen and read to many problems with 6.5 roms. It is ultimately your decision which version to go with.

like greywolf said, you pretty much need to look around and see what you like. i am using the lastest TPC rom and pretty happy with it, but there are a lot other good choices out there right now
As for you using your phone with other sim cards most roms come with "Connection Setup" it usually detects your sim card and asks you if u want to change the setting to the carrier. you can always search for the latest cab on this forum.

I am comming from HD2 forum. With HD2 was very easy - HSPL and you chow an install everything
But now i want to ask you for your help:
- how to install different ROM. I try to install DE ROM but the software says that is not for my device
- how to install IGO8 that was very helpfull with HD2

Hi,
For the moment it's impossible to change roms with wp7.
We must wait until HSPL is released (or not )
I have an unlocked O2 UK phone too, my rom it's the O2 UK here in the forum, try that but you will not see any differences.
Regarding iGO8 or other GPS software, they don't work with WP7 for the moment. Hopping to see updates next year.

Give WP7 a try before you get a different phone. It might surprise you.

You really need to do some research. This time last year it wasn't so easy to flash a ROM on the HD2, it took nearly 3 months for that to happen. Also there were regular leaks of the WM6.x builds, without this the "easy" ROMS would not exist.
You cannot compare a phone that is 14 months old to one that is only 2 months. A bit like putting my clothes on a baby, being 6ft tall they're just a little bit big for it.
As mentioned above, there is no Satnav program for WP7, which also is nothing new considering Android, Windows Mobile and iOS didn't have SatNav when they first launched.

your name is already HD2 Win 7, why not just use the HD2 with WM 6.5?????

I purchased the HTC HD7 mobile, I thing, I did mistake for choosing this mobile phone because it's windows phone 7 installed on it. Please kindly don't say if I purchase the HTC HD2. Please recommend me for solving my problem for installing or downgrading the my windows phone 7 to windows mobile 6.5

At the moment you can't, it may be possible in the future. My advise is sell the HD7 and get an HD2, then you can have WM6.5, WP7 or Android.

was half tempted to see if you'd swap your HD7 for my HD2 but i think i'll hold off
WM is a cracking os tho, not pretty and not slick but its a beast an can do pretty much anything you want, it would be good even if someone could get magldr on here and then get WM booting of an SD....

Some one has created the RSPL, DFT or something... maybe they can offer you the RSPL and u can load the HD2 WM6.5 on your HD7....

Will HD2's win 6.5 rom work on hd 7?
If I have hd2's win 6.5 rom, is there anyway I can install it on HD7?
My HD7 is unlocked from T-mobile.
I can go into bootloader and it says it's unlocked.
I really need help as I like 6.5 more than 7.0
Also, can I makeup a backup of my 7.0 rom before I put 6.5 on it?

Why wont anyone listen in this thread?!?!?! You CANNOT put WM6.5 on the HD7 at this time period.
Perhaps as the development for the HD7 grows then MAYBE there could be a way to dualboot but until then it is IMPOSSIBLE.

Are you sure you want to go back to a stylus? Or a half stylus / half finger os... What I really miss from WM6.x, 6.5 is the Tomtom, Garmin Navigation Software... I guess is a matter of time until we get useful apps on WP7... But anyway, I really understand your desire... we might see some 6.5 roms in the near future as soon as the developers at xda.cn give some info away...
