hey i am interested in trying manups eclair build, but it says the camera does not work. id like to wait for this to be supported before i flash the rom and was wondering if anyone knows when support for the camera on eclair builds will be available?
When some unpaid Developer takes some precious family time out of their life and does it.
Or...
In the immortal words of Blizzard Entertainment.....
"We'll be releasing a patch..Soon"
There are no compatible drivers for the camera for 2.0+ yet. HTC hasn't released them yet. When they do, I'm sure you will see a ton of new 2.0/2.01 ROMs getting released.
Anyone else looking forward to it?
Is it going to be released on the SGS 1? I get the feeling there won't be an official release of it for it but will anyone be making a custom rom?

i have no doubt that the galaxy s devs will make a port for our i9000's, i mean if theres a friggin honeycomb port, it just makes sense that they would bring us some delicious ice cream sandwich.
yes i am! i Even made a rom in ice style but i am not able to post it because i am new on the forum
Thats Awesome
I read somewhere ICS will be available to any gingerbread running device!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qXihfs7DKPE
Watch this video. The presenter is saying clearly that this next version will be made available for every phone from new to old. So, expect it on SGS. However, the question is that whether it will run smoothly or not ?
Here are some demo features that will come out in ICS.

not only our future, their future
do we have any news??
this sdk dump is here

all the devices that had a gingerbread update would receive the update for 4.0 as well .. don't panic and let's just hope for the best!
I belive there isn't much ram on sgs to run ICS
And anyway, we have CyanogenMod. It will surely be updated to ICS.
One way or another we will get it.
How relatively well it will run on our device is another matter.
Hmm, can't wait for the Icecream Sandwich.

Totally agreed. There is hardly even enough ram for gingerbread to run as smoothly as froyo.
Android developers claimed today that ics is lighter and snappier. So i guess that means it will require less ram then gb. Its newer version so it is obvious they tried to make it lighter.

So CM7 was a stellar success for our tiny lil device called Tattoo.
Now that CM7 is over, we'll are eagerly waiting for CM9. I posted this thread to know if Tattoo is going to be supported in the CM9 builds. If anyone of you has an idea of what is going on, you can reply here. Also you can use this thread for dev purposes.
Others here, you can list out what features you want to see on out Tattoos running CM9. This can come of great help to the devs until the actual thread comes up.
So when many devices have got early CM9 builds, why not us? arco68 and KalimochoAz, you there?
The CyanogenMod team already announced that one phone which will not get the upgrade is the Motorola Droid because of it's outdated hardware. You know, Droid is really similar to Tattoo specwise. Same CPU specs, same RAM amount, same internal memory.....
You draw the conclusions.
pretty bleak future for us indeed. but the hero and the G1 are running early builds of it already. so if G1 can do, why not Tattoo?

This blog post pretty much confirms that we won't be getting CM9.
Our goal is to provide continued support to all CM7 devices back to the QSD8250 series of devices such as the Nexus One.

Our device is MUCH less-powerful than the QSD8250, which is a 1.0-1.2GHz CPU and Adreno 200 GPU System-on-a-Chip.
if that is true, wildfire wont get it too.
My guess it it will run. But should be optimized heavily for a smooth experience.

I'm afraid the low resolution will be the show stopper there.
Maybe possible but it will be light version of ICS a few of the ingredients may be removed.
The screen is 2.8" n this is maybe the drawback...
I have installed ICS on G1. Its horrible ROM, Very Laggy and still needs lot of development for smoother experience. They haven't fixed the rotation problems yet. It looks to me Tatto0 will have a hard time with CM 9 because of its lower quality hardwares.
Tattoo is a 2 years old phone
Once we made it 2.1/2.2
It great already
And now we even have 2.3
What are we still asking for
As google told before
4.0is for high end
So let's enjoy the extra bonus that we get

which i think is a good news for Tattoo as well in terms of CM9
i still have hope!
it might not be a perfect version of android 4, but at least we can try and have fun a little bit while we wait for next year's christmas for a new phone!!
Look at this

It's ICS running on htc g1, the first android phone! I hope we can run it also on our tattoo

Yes, it's running, but as you can see it's too slow, really.
Yes but tattoo has a little better specs than G1
Hey all,
If no-one is looking at porting CM9 to Tattoo, I could have an indicative look at doing it; no promises though; as I am doing it for HD2 at the moment, where I am spending all my time
I may have a go in a few days.
Although I may need some assistance with drivers and kernel later on

Update on compilation
Hi all,
Everything I do is all open, so you will see what I have done; this also gives others the chance to contribute
If someone wants to see my progress, then you can go to the following git repo
https://github.com/arif-ali/android_device_htc_click
and when I have a build it will be located here
http://cyanogenmod.arif-ali.co.uk/rom/test
So far quite a bit compiles, working on the wpa_supplicant part now. Looks like it may be a hack or need to look somewhere else.
I've had the Tattoo for 2 years now, but don't really know the HW much, so much research will be required. I've just installed nfinityGB, as and when arco built it.
If someone can give any input, it may speed up my work; and it will be appreciated.
Edit 1:
* Got passed the wifi, just got the drivers from gingerbread (for my notes)
Code:
cd system/wlan
git clone git://github.com/CyanogenMod/android_system_wlan_ti.git -b gingerbread
mv android_system_wlan_ti ti
sed -i s/LOCAL_MODULE_TAGS.*/LOCAL_MODULE_TAGS\ :=\ optional/g system/wlan/ti/sta_dk_4_0_4_32/config/Android.mk
* Need http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20737947&postcount=27 for compilation as well
Code:
unzip ../webrtc.zip -d external/webrtc/
Edit 2:
Good News; first compile done.
Bad News; it's 4am in the morning, and I can't be bothered to test
I have no idea if it is going to work or not, and if someone is really adventurous, then feel free to try flashing the file from the following URL in about 20 mins i.e. better to try 04:30 GMT to be on the safe side
http://cyanogenmod.arif-ali.co.uk/rom/test/update-cm9-click-20120101.zip
system is going to be 162M, and gapps can be downloaded from http://cyanogenmod.arif-ali.co.uk/misc/gapps-ics-20111128.zip
Personally, I won't be able to test until tomorrow now
Edit 3:
NVM, this won't work, our system is only 150M; I will give it another go later

Not Working:
Sound
Celluar Connectivety
Both Cameras
PTP / USB Mass Storage
Battery Calibration
Not exactly suitable as a daily driver, but it's always nice to get an early taste!
EDIT: Just came back from a quick test session and I have to say this ROM gives a very solid impression considering it's in alpha. One thing to add is that the Wi-Fi signal strength seems worse than on the nightlies. I was unable to connect to a network that would normally give me two out of four bars.
Missed this, thanks!
It might be worth making a 'not working' list in the OP as this thread is sure to get some attention.
So far I count:
Sound
Mobile Data
Both Cameras
PTP / USB Mass Storage
Battery Calibration
Calls
SMS/MMS
Edit: Oops... Missed above post
Thanks! Our first taste of ICS.
if the G2X project makes some progres, will this rom for our O2X be updated ?
thank you for letting us have a quick taste of Ice Cream Sandwich , I must say .. I really like the overall feel of Android 4.0 and I can't wait until this is suitable as a daily driver.

First, I want to say thanks to the developer that ported our work of art to the Optimus 2X but we are also working on a Optimus 2X build so there is no point in doing so. I guess this is good to give people a taste of whats to come. Look out for the final build from a developer by the name Benee.
Keep checking the original post for updates.
Edit: Just spoke with Benee and he is unsure if he will be releasing Alphas or waiting till the build is up to Daily Driver standards. I will keep you guys posted in our thread over in the G2X section. Once again thanks to the dev for porting the groups work over to the G2X.
Thats great news , if you choose to release the alphas it would be great but not very useful to the general public, and if you choose to release it when it is stable , im sure we can all wait
Unable to download
It seems that I'm unable to download from Rapidshare. Will any kind soul please upload it to Mediafire? Thanks in advance.
just curious, what capacitive button now substitute for the multi tasking button?
great, hope this will be the kick point for our O2X
Just to be sure, does it need a full wipe before flashing?
And I must say lots of thanks to the original g2x developers as well as the porter
If you're coming from another ROM, definitely yes.

Think positive! if more ppl test it the sooner we will have a stable release.
And you can wait as long as you want, but there are people who check the forum 10times a day, waiting for something like this to try.

I just flashed it over CM7 and it worked. Not sure about other ROMs.
@andy010101
I didnt post this in the DEV section for a reason. But doesnt matter now. xD
Put "preview" into topic title. So ppl shouldnt expect to much from this ROM.
Hey. Im wondering which rom you would choose between the ICS alpha 3 build and the honeycomb RC1 build? I use my tab almost everyday for surfing the web and playing games. Right now im on the Alpha 3. Please tell me and also why you would take either one!
Best regards
If you can get the wifi to work, ICS is the better route.
Sent from my SCH-I510 using xda premium
I recommend sticking with the ICS. There are a lot more people interested in working on that right now than Honeycomb.
I have a Sprint tab, so we didn't get much attention for Honeycomb ports to begin with... not saying there weren't some very devoted people like Spacemoose, CDMA tabs just aren't as popular is all.
However, across the board, there seems to be a LOT of interest in ICS from all the custom rom DEV teams as well as Google. I think you'll see more updates for that over time, just like we all did for Gingerbread.
ICS one seems better..
Let's look at the Android OS evolution:
Froyo -> Gingerbread -> Honeycomb -> IceCreamSandwich.
Naturally, the answer is there: ICS.
