[HOW TO] Fastboot on LGP500 - Optimus One, P500 Android Development

Any news on how to enable fastboot on this device?
EDIT: Here you can find instructions for enabling fastboot on your device. The key combo to enter fastboot mode is Home + Power. Thanks to marioemp2k7 and mik_os.

Hi, I too am interested in having fastboot on LGP500. Did anybody find a way?

Yes please, is anybody working on that? Having fastboot disabled is such a pain in the ass...

Please enable fastboot on this phone

Its blocked at bootloader level. You guys need to fish for a pre-release rom that can be flashed via lg mobile-updater or equivalent and try that bootloader (danger warning). That is IF one exists. Lg goofed on the ally and left fastboot enabled in their 1st version of firmware for it and fixed it in later shipped releases. We had to downgrade to v06 firmware to get fastboot. The command if enabled in bootloader is adb reboot bootloader to get to it. If its disabled it will just reboot as normal.
Here are instructions (for ally DO NOT FLASH THIS FIRMWARE -reference only)and link to tool to LG tool to downgrade frimware. http://androidforums.com/ally-all-things-root/166588-how-flash-stock-lg-rom.html

Fastboot is protocol used to update the flash filesystem in Android devices from a host over USB. It allows flashing of unsigned partition images. It is disabled in the production G1 devices since USB support is disabled in the bootloader[1]. This can be changed if you get root on the device.

So, seems that it is for flashing of firmware. I thing that fastboot is something like recovery with some more?

On the Ally one could re-enable fastboot by flashing an old firmware. But afaik the GT540 had the support for fastboot enabled thanks to some russian guys who rebuilt the bootloader without having access to a pre-release rom. I wish they could to the same for the P500. I would ask them myself on 4pda.ru, but unfortunately I can't speak russian.

It's way better than recovery. Believe me, Google would not have created it if it weren't that useful. Try booting a custom kernel on-the-fly with your recovery.

I have Fastboot! Mostly...
I have something on the Fastboot front. This being my first time hacking around with android stuff and not WinMo (screw winmo... bleh), I maybe need some help for the next step.
First off let me say that the winding way I got here includes stuff highly derivative off work from http://forum.androidcentral.com/lg-optimus-s-roms-hacks/45401-rom-thunderom-v1-5-12-14-2010-a.html this ROM for the optimus S. I want to ask their permission before I post steps on how I got here.
Here is where I am at.
On my phone:
Fastboot mode started
udc_start()
-- suspend --
-- reset --
-- portchange --
-- reset --
-- portchange --
fastboot: processing commands
YAY
Then windows installs for me a FastBoot Interface (Google USB ID) [Yes.. I was in Windows at the time lol]
DOUBLE YAY
This seems to work...
I can fastboot reboot, fastboot reboot-recovery, and I can wipe and assuming flash stuff (not trying just yet) with fastboot.
Only issues seems to be when I 'fastboot devices' I receive:
? fastboot
AND
I have to reflash or Nandroid restore to a more stable ROM to NOT go into fastboot mode.
From the sources I am reading, it should be more specific with my device ID correct?
Thanks for any ideas/help or whatever...

Thanks for your trying! ;-) I look forward for fastboot!
Unfortunately I can't help you with this problem.

Nobody here can speak russian? Asking on 4pda.ru how exactly they managed to enable fastboot on the GT540 might be helpful...

Some (possibily useful) info here

Thanks for the link, grabbing some .kdz from there. It might take a bit though... their filehosts are slow >.<

How to get your 2X into fastboot mode

A quirk of the Advent Vega (also Tegra) that allows you to enter fastboot mode also applies on the 2X (Thanks Bumble-Bee for the tip!)
Basically, if you wipe the boot partition (e.g. 'dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p5') then reboot, the device drops to fastboot.
Handy testing feature for devs.

Fastboot flash works, ish.
I could flash recovery, but not boot. What would be nice is a radio in .img format so I don't have to backup and restore the bastard thing when a new one is out.
Ahh this would be so awsome.. since i Smartflash can't detect my P990
(so i can't flash the latest basebands or revert them)
Gief Radio in .img format !
Would anyone Know how to get the radio as .img ?
Would this work on the T-Mobile LG G2X?
Good question.
I expect the boot partition is different, so don't blindly follow the command here.

I did follow the command blindly with my P990, but no boot for me. Luckily there's an escape with the NVflash stock ROM.
It's fine on the P990, it's meant to 'not' boot, it's not broken at that stage, it's in fastboot. You can fastboot boot your way out of it.
Is this a safe option to try on my v10D? Fastboot decreases boot time by how much really?
That's not what fastboot means, to be honest, this isn't going to be for you
Hey All,
I was trying to install GingerStreak 2.4.4 from GingerStreak 2.4.3.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1333010
According to the instructions, I flashed
amss.mbn - http://mirror2.streakdroid.com/amss.mbn
and
dsp1.mbn - http://mirror2.streakdroid.com/dsp1.mbn
(got both the files from the first link above)
Then when I tried to reboot into Bootloader (Power+Vol Up+Vol Down) but nothing happens apart from the Dell logo being displayed.
I try to boot normally, still stuck at the Dell logo. The phone never even reaches the boot animation.
I try to go boot into fastboot (power+camera key)mode, but the phone never even boots. The screen stays off, so do the LED lights.
I figured out that the files downloaded above were incomplete(due to slow speed Chrome showed incomplete files as download complete).
amss downloaded: 111KB. Actual Size: 15.41MB
DSP1 Downloaded: 250KB. Actual Size: 8.94MB
So, I flashed the wrong files.
Now, I guess, the phone is bricked big time.
I need big time to get into fastboot mode (to flash the correct files) or anyhow get my phone working.
Guys, need help. Please help me out and get this issue sorted out.
You should maybe consider the Streak forum...
Sorry, my bad. I just searched for my problem an found this thread. Poured out all my worried without bothering to check on the device name.
Thanks anyhow!

fastboot: bootloader locked or unlocked?

Hey guys
I noticed that many people are having problems to flash using fastboot. They report that fastboot says the bootloader would be locked, even if it's definitely unlocked.
so my question, who of you is able to flash (kernels for example) using
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot flash boot boot.img
and who can flash using
Code:
adb reboot oem-unlock
fastboot flash boot boot.img
I've been talking to LG about this problem, but all they said was to change a driver config for ADB. But due to the fact that I'm using Linux, it is impossible that it is a driver problem. I also tried their "solution", but guess what... it didn't work.

I can't really test adb due to idiot computer asking for disk to be inserted. But when I reboot to bootloader it says "now ready" which didn't happen when it was locked. Used the hacked method too, my odm_reserved reads:

both reboot commands "oem-unlock" and "bootloader" are defined in the kernel source code. "oem-unlock" sets an intern hardware flag for booting the unlocked mode and "bootloader" just sets the normal bootloader flag.
wondering why the reboot parameter "recovery" actually only does a normal reboot? (CM has an additional script they call before rebooting to recovery for setting the recovery boot flag)
right, no "recovery" command defined in the kernel source, but its only a few lines of code to add this
------
reboot
bootloader: locked fastboot
oem-unlock: unlocked fastboot
some time ago i messed around with these hardware flags and now oem-unlock doesnt work. it boots instead into recovery lol. no clue why

HELP PLEASE! Stuck in bootloader, NEXUS 6

Hi, I wanted to flash the 5.1 update to my new Nexus 6.
I went all over the basic steps.
After I unlocked the bootloader I tried to flash the image with the flash-all command.
It failed, so I remembered maybe I forgot to click on USB debugging? (This confuses me because I think I shouldn't be able to unlock bootloader without this).
When I wanted to start android I locked it first, so I would unlock it afterwards and erase everything to start as new.
Whan I locked it, I could not unlock it again. I can't access Android, neither do anything else like factory reset nor Recovery Mode. I return to the bootloader as soon as I press anything.
There are red words at the top: AP Fastboot Flash Mode (Secure). Does this means anything?
Is there any way to force unlocking the bootloader? When I try it, the phone tells me to go to Developer Options but I can't access Android.
Please HELP! Is there any way to flash a rom or android again in locked state? Recovery?
Thanks for reading this and thinking about a solution! I really hope I won't be stuck forever in bootloader.
Uh oh... Were you trying to downgrade back to LRX22C from LMY47D so that you could upgrade to LMY47M, by any chance?
If so you might be fooked.
Actually no. I was trying to upgrade from 5.01 to 5.1. I'm really scared of having my Nexus 6 bricked. I can't do anything to unlock the bootloader. Maybe I could sideload a recovery? But do I need to be unlocked?

The solution that was posted should work, but you need to use RSD Lite in order to flash the factory image, not fastboot.
Read it over nice and slow again, because you are in panic mode right now, so take your time and you will get it back up and running with no problems.

Thanks! I've been reading a lot from this thread but I get something unusual as the other people are experiencing. When I try to flash partition gpt.bin I get (bootloader) Unlock before flashin.
It is kind of contradictory as this fix supposedly fixes flashing without unlocking. I don't know if it is a problem of drivers. My PC sees my N6 as Google Nexus Bootlader Interface. In the thread, the PC sees the device as "Bulk" or "Qualcomm ....... etc etc".
My panic mode isn't turning off. I may be missing something.

Yes it does. He flashed the factory images, then relocked (which defaults to disabled oem unlocking). But something failed (guessing possibly userdata failed). I would recommend fastboot formats userdata to perform a factory reset from the boot loader to see if you can get android to boot.

Is it possible to access files / pics via fastboot only?

Hello All,
I have following issue and hope that - if possible - someone can help me. I also would like to mention that I am not an
Android expert but did read a lot of articles here in the forum to find out - or better - to get an idea how things are working.
My Z3C had a water damage. Now I only get fastboot mode. Display is broken and does not show anything. I installed Android-SDK
to get ADB and Fastboot. I installed also drivers.
When I connect the device while pushing the "volume down" button the device manager show me a somc flash device with the "volume up" button I see an Android ADB Interface device. However ADB is not working (no device found) only Fastboot does.
I flashed the "Z3c_DooMLoRD_AdvStkKernel_v01_FW-105.img" with Flashtool via fastboot in the hope that I can somehow access
to "sdcard" by blindly navigating to "mount storage" but nothing seem to work.
On my linux device I see that the usb device is recognized but that it is not an mtp device.
Before I continue to spent hours without really knowing what I am doing I thought that if there is a solution I would find it here.
So if there is any way to get access to my files / pics on the device I would be really glad if someone can let me know how or
at least bring me to the right direction.
Thanks a lot in advance!

Thanks for your reply clouds5.
I followed the process to unlock the bootloader (got code from sony side and unlocked via fastboot with
"fastboot.exe -i 0x0fce oem unlock 0xKEY").
In Flashtool, when I click on the "BLU" Icon I get a window with with my IMEI and my Unlock Code and a
Relock Button. So I assume that the bootloader is unlocked.
If there is another way to verify please let me know and I will do.

Question Redmi Note 11 Stuck/boot loop in Recovery mode

I need help, I did some research but I couldn't find a solution to my problem.
I know that others have a problem with rebooting to recovery when unlocking, but my problem is different. My phone is just stuck in a loop into recovery mode and won't boot normally even in safemode.
I haven't tried wiping the data yet because I want to save my files. Do you have a solution for this?

I didn't do anything, I just charged my phone while it was turned off. Then I turned on the phone and the same thing happened as with others where when I unlocked it from the lock screen, the phone restarted and that's what happened.
Edit:
I saw this in another thread, we have the same problem.

Hello to everyone,
So basically i read all the 10 pages of this thread and I have not found someone that have the same problem as me. I have the “bootloop” but the thing is that my phone is not even turning on. It is just booting and going back to the recovery menu. So I choose the reboot option but still coming back to the menu. I have already turned on the debug usb option because I used to be using it before my phone dies. I have a Xiaomi MI10 Lite 5G. I also tried the MiAssisstant but no succes because device not detected.
If someone have a solution without wiping all my precious data pls ?

If you have your phone to automatically install updates, it might have done exactly that, and it borked. i.e. incomplete installation. There is no recovery partition on the spes so the boot image is potentially whacked. Try reflashing boot and dtmo and vbmeta images in Fastboot from your current ROM. That should get you back to where you were.

Sorry, I'm not really knowledgeable about this. Can you guide me or give me a link on how to do it? I don't have any experience in flashing through fastboot but earlier, I tried using ADB to check if my device is being recognized and I think it was recognized.
And also, I don't know which firmware to download or what is the current version of my phone because I only know the basic details of my device like this is Redmi Note 11 6/128 4G, I think this is the global version, and by the way, I'm from the Philippines.

Enter fastboot, check your phone is unlocked.
fastboot getvar unlocked (response will be unlocked: yes)
If you are global, then get the fastboot version from here: https://xiaomifirmwareupdater.com/miui/spes/stable/V13.0.12.0.SGCMIXM/
This one is mine. Be careful you get the non-4g-in-the-name ROM for your 4g phone if yours is like mine:
Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 - Full phone specifications
www.gsmarena.com
Beware of the other one that has a Mediatek processor and has 4G in the name and is NOT my phone type: https://www.gsmarena.com/xiaomi_redmi_note_11_4g-11241.php
If this one fails to get you booted at the end, drop back a version and try that one. Check your phone box to see what region version phone you bought.
Unpack it to a folder and get the images for boot, dtbo and vbmeta. Put these files into your adb/platorm-tools directory in Windows. (you will need the boot and vbmeta images later if you choose to install Magisk) Since you ran adb already, then you must already have adb installed.
Open command prompt as root, change to that platform-tools directory.
fastboot devices (to ensure Windows sees you)
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash dtbo dtbo.img
fastboot flash vbmeta vbmeta.img
Reboot system.
If this gets you booted, run Device Info HW app to see what version is actually installed, and look under About Phone as well.
EDIT: I corrected the 3 command lines above.

Sorry for the delayed reply.
It seems that my bootloader is still locked, so I cannot flash it using fastboot. Is that correct?
Is there a way to flash my device without losing my files? I really need to get my files

Then ignore my steps, since they won't work on a locked bootloader. I will defer to others who have clues regarding a locked bootloader and a down system.
You COULD try to unlock it, but that would definitely wipe all your data:
"Unlocking the bootloader will wipe all data"
Get the unlock tool and instructions here, if you so choose anyway:
Apply for permissions to unlock Mi devices
en.miui.com
NOTE: that gives you unlock version 6.5.224.28 but it might/should prompt you after install to install the updated version since mine is 6.5.406.31 from April of 2022. When you run it, it makes you wait a week.
NOTE 2: It does state this warning, however:
"First, confirm that your device can be unlocked
Your device functions normally and not in a bricked, soft-bricked, bootloop state."

I turned on USB debugging before this bootloop happened.
