[BOOT] Unofficial Droid Boot (metamorph only)

Hi i have just created the Verizon Droid boot up. Its prolly as close as we Dream users are gonna get. If anyone has advice or any other input just post. Thanks

ZIP file is packaged incorrectly. Other than that it seems to work fine. Good job.

This isnt for a computer or winmo....This is android forum so you cant ask q's like these....You cant use this for windows...The gif is way to small and win have to use a certain format for bootup images...

I just tried to flash through metamorph its saying that it doesn't have a certain file for ot to be flashed through metamorph

Yeah I tried it and I get the samething.

The theme control file exists in the .ZIP, but Metamorph isn't picking it up. Even if I place the .THM file and .ZIP in the AndroidThemes folder on my SD... NO WORKIE!

how to get this to work in metamorph:
1) After u download this file to ur SD, use a file manager such as EStrongs Filemanager.
2) Find the .zip file that you just previously downloaded, click and choose to unzip/extract it.
3) Find the new folder u just extracted to and open it.
4) U will c 2 folders. Delete the Mac one & copy the other to AndroidThemes (located in the root of SD card).
5) Open Metamorph, click Open Existing, find the folder again and then then .thm file.

well... I got this to work, but must say that the image quality is really poor. It looks sorta 8-Bit on my MT3G...
are there any other boot animations available for metamorph?

good thing i created a back-up before i applied this piece. . theres a hidden (no data) file that screws up the entire sytem. . wipes all critical files and everything is FC. . plus the image quality sucks !

eclair boot animation help

had a question. i was wondering if there was a way to change the boot animation? if so what is the file type for the images, also what size(?x?). please any help would be appreciated. i would like to make mine a little more personal.
i need to know what to do to change it. i tried to replace the images in the media bootscreen.zip. but to no avail. so pleas someone help me with this.

There are two files in frame-work-res.apk/assets/images called android-logo-mask.png and android-logo-shine.png. These are what you play with.

I had just assumed since his signature said donu, that he was interested in doing this for donut, but thank you for the clarification.

no i havent changed my sig yet. i know where the files are but when i change them all i get is a black screen durring the boot. i dont know if they have to be a certsin size or what.

I would use the one from your current rom, then put your images but keep them the same name as the ones in the zip, I think that the problem lies in the .DS_Store and the desc.txt. They are probably looking for specific images with specific names. The images need to be 320x480

tried this to no avail. replaced the images with mine in the same size and with the same names still no go. these are the images i want to use http://www.4shared.com/file/189292613/ebadfd8d/image.html if anyone could help please. would love to be able to just flash an update to any eclair rom. i am currently running the eclairxrom.

Well, this is the original SPL image on Tattoo, nothing related to update.zip.

I was trying to reverse it, and just found why it refuses to erase, but I could not find why it refuses to download data from the host.
----
By now, to flash SPL or the first splash, you need a custom kernel with additional partition information and then use flash_image is OK.

I have a dead Tattoo.. stucked in tattoo logo at the boot... it's possible to use this spl for heal?

i now know how to add apk files to an update.zip, but the bootanimation.zip just went right over my head

If i want a new bootscreen, do i have to make a whole new custom rom, or can i just flash the new bootscreen?

You can just delete all other files and folder so you only have fx if your bootscreen is placed like this: META-INF and system system> customize> resource>bootanimation.zip
That should be your only files and folders. Of course if you your bootscreen is placed in data/local/bootanimation.zip then that should be your only directories and files

Limit?
Really like this and it would make trying different Rom easier for me but is there a limit to the amount of apk's you can add or a maximum Rom size?
Have tried again and again over the last couple of days to add 32 (free market apk's) to VillianRom12 but can only get a successful flash at around 12 Apk's and a Rom size of 122mb.
All other tries give me an Error while flashing saying something along the lines of "Error with Line 11" and "Flash aborted".
After a successful flash and reboot 'SD & Phone storage' says I have 158mb of Internal Phone Storage is that different storage to where the Rom is Flash.
If this is not possible can I flash an Update.zip with just the apks?

Yes I think there's a limit of how many apps you can add you just have to install the rest manually

I installed the new Pancake ROM on my HTC Tattoo. I can't find the location of my current bootscreen. Do i have to replace the bootscreen.zip in the ROM and flash this ROM, or do i just have to copy the new bootscreen to my sd-card and find the location to paste it at the right place?

I tried to put the files on my SD-Card and copy them to the right location. (system/media/bootscreen) but it failed. I can't replace the files that are in there. What can i try now?

But for me, it doesn't work.
I want to add EsFileExplorer to my FroydVillan 1.0.0 (Froyo 2.2) rom.
I copy the file in app folder, i save, i signe my new rom.
I flash my HTC Hero, all is OK, but when i want to use EsFileExplorer, Android says: "Must close ES File Explorer (process .com.estrongs.android.pop). Please try again".
Can you help me ?

That happens sometimes. Not all apps work when they are put in system/app. Try putting them in data instead. If that doesen't work you just can't do it with those apps and you'll have to install them from market...
BTW are you sure these apps are Froyo compatible?

A list of what the apps are and whether they are safe to remove would be really helpful. Although probably a lot of work to compile. Just a suggestion. Great tutorial though

Make your own splash -- HOW TO--requests welcome

thanks to superchillpil and gadget for i can make custom splash images now if anyone is interested. can take requests will try to make how you like but no promises.(justa rookie). if you post a pic i should be able to make into splash.

must have root!
place on root of sd card(not in a folder)
boot to bootloader,
You will see
update splash,
Select yes update splash,
Wait, when done
select reboot

Here is how i make my own splash's if you want to make you're own
1.find an image u want.{must be 480x800!!-photoscape and gimp work for resizing and such}
2.use the splash flasher program(do not connect phone just use for conversion) to convert j-peg(whatever ur pic is)into an IMG file,should say custom.img.
3.rename file to splash1,(after should say splash1.img)place splash1.img and android info txt file into a folder and zip.(make sure u zip under store setting)only zip 2 files not folder containing files!
4.rename PG05IMG

I would like help installing this as well. I have no folder on my sdcard for root. In my sdcard folder I do have a zip file called PG05img.zip. That is the same name as this file I just downloaded. If I put the downloaded file into the same folder as the other one wont it completely erase the other file?

Guys, the root just means not in any folder. Their are instructions in the OP and in another post on page 1.
Btw, chas, you want to remove the original PG05IMG.zip from your SD card. Every time you boot into hboot that will try and update on your phone. Best to remove it asap to avoid problems

named PG05IMG so bootloader sees it. U just put on root of sdcard not in any folder, ifu have another file with same name it won't work.
