Is it possible that someone can develop a simple app for legend, which would make the Home key and Back key act as call attend and call end button on legend?
Home key should only act as call attend while the call is incoming.
and back key should only act as end button while a call is incoming and when the call screen is still visible while on call.
Iam not exactly sure if there is already such an app, i've really tried looking and found none so far.
it would be just great if something like this is possible, there can be times when we just dont want to touch the screen, like while eating or with wet/dirty fingers.
The home button cannot be overridden IIRC. But it should be possible to remap the other ones. ask the creator of your phone app. I think designing a dialer/phone app just for button remapping is asking too much.
You can already use the power button to hang up, enable it in the accessibility setting (or is this cyanogenmod specific?).
Actually iam running stock ROM, I must admit i have not a single clue on how/if its possible. I don't deal with development, I was merely suggesting an idea for those who might be able to do it.
I didn't realize it would require a total rewrite of the dialer app, I was kind of under there impression that it could be possible through some lil hack.
The home button I mentioned was also a suggestion.

Is it possible to program one of the hot keys to be a phone mute/unmute button, or is there a need to create an app?
I'll check out if I can make an app out of it tomorrow unless anyone posts anything different. I made a key lock app for the PTT soft button. I might make it mute your call if you're in a call or lock your phone if you're not. Anyway, lets hope it can be done without an app or with an app and you'll have it by tomorrow evening. Do you have the Tilt, Tytn, or Vario?
Thanks for your prompt response. I have an unlocked TYTN II.
You might not have a PushToTalk button. Got any of the other buttons in mind? You can map it to whatever, and I'll check it out tomorrow. See my first post titled "First Post / KeyLock" for my keylock app and a link on how to map the PTT button. Other buttons should be similarly mapped.
Would like to use the green phone button for this purpose.
I'm interested in this too (I swear I live on concalls for work right now). Either the green button or the ok button on the side of the phone. But I'm curious, will the phone have to be "on" (ie: not sleeping) for this to work? Currently I use the reTOUCHed dialer and just go to Call Status screen and tap the mute / unmute toggle on the screen to do this (which works well since they are bigger buttons than the default dialer on the Tilt). But having it mapped to a hardware button would be very nice.
Was there ever any progress on this? I'd like to assign the PTT button to mute/unmute during a call. I am constantly on conference calls and having to use the touchscreen to do this is ridiculous.
Hello
I am a new owner of an att tilt. I believe it is the same as the tytnII. I am looking for two cabs to install on my phone.
1) a cab that lets me assign a button to switch between vibrate, silent, and ring. I found vibra switch, but it does not include silent.
2) a cab or program that allows me to assign a call log feature to a button. I use the call log quite frequently on my old phone.
Thank you for anyone that can give a newbie a suggestion
Adam
both of those can easily be accessed without cabs.
1- if you have the htc home screen, just press on the symbol that looks like a phone with a music symbol beside it, and it'll give you the option of switching profiles
2- just click the green talk button and then press up on the dpad
want the button press
Thank you for the response.
I have not tried htc homescreen yet. It appears to have a large clock and a tab system of the today screen that I am not fond of. Am I able to leave the today screen basically like it is with that program?
Also I want to be able to map these functions to a button. The reason for this is for easy access while driving. I feel a button press and using the jog wheel is a lot more accurate and requires less attention.
Thank you
Adam Birozy
I'm interested in remapping the ok button (the one on the side, below the scroll wheel, not the one below the end key) to rotate the screen. However, I can't seem to find out how to do anything at all with this button. Can anyone help?
i'd like this also.
I'm wondering if maybe this has to be done within the registry?
i remember reading in a thread before this that the remapping was not possible for that OK button... but i am not sure i could be wrong
try hbutton. it lets you map about anything to the hard buttons. you can map multiple programs to one button too. i use it to map the OK button to close a program, open htc audio, and screen rotate.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=306794
if you are referring to the ok button on the front of the kaiser, i remapped that button to rotate the screen from; settings>buttons. i am, however, using a sim free htc tytnII. this may not be available in the network branded versions. hope this helps.
sorry misread your post, you were talking about the side one. doh! no i couldn't remap that one either.
at this moment no one can really find the registry for that button. people have tried, i read about 3 posts that had people trying and they were unsuccessfull
i am still also interested in getting that button remapped
AE button plus will remap the side button, except if you are on the today screen, where a press of the button will bring up the start menu.
i currently have it to turn off the phone, since i friggin hate how htc made the real power button so flush with the body, so that if i'm on the today screen, i press it twice quickly to power off the device. the first press brings up the start menu, then the second press will take the focus off the today screen and implement your action. likewise, hitting the side button will turn off the phone if i'm in any sort of application or anything non-today screen.
and mapping this buttom also maps the keyboard ok, so now i'm suddenly without a keyboard ok button
What exactly is this Side Ok Button for anyways? It doesnt act as a confirm button
I would also like to remap the OK button to rotate screen. When I am using Garmin I like to have it rotated for cradle and visual purposes.
Also, don't know if anyone ever noticed this. I have polarized sunglasses, and when my phone is facing up and down like in portrait mode it is not as bright as it could be, but i rotate it like it is in landscape mode and I can see perfect with them on. Weird!
Let me know if this doesn't work out. I wrote apps for the Universal once to assign to any key. But that was a long time ago. I'm sure better solutions exist now.

You can do it for sure with SPB Pocket Plus & the Shortcut Add-in/Plugin.
I actually made an action sender for this purpose, for another button, but if I get some time , I'll pull out my old work & look.
But SPB PP does allow it for sure. You can map two of anything to that button, one for press & one for press & hold.
Anything new on this?
I've tried some different things...still nothing.
another bump...
bump it up again...anyone know how to remap the OK button (forget the rotate screen)?
I think having the trackball function as the home button would be a feature many would like to have. Any developer out there willing to take on this function?
What would be the point of the actual home button then? This seems pointless
what would be more useful is if the trackball can be programmed for stuff then we can use it to launch apps and do all sorts of things.

I have 3 things for my home button now, Quickdesk on dubbletap, recent apps on hold in, and singletap for launcher pro. for me it would be awesome to have quicker access to the recent apps, by putting the home to the trackball. and have recent apps on single click. wouldnt hurt to have the option. and it should also be available to bind the trackball click to anything u like.
I agree, or trackball to answer a call, I don't use the trackball that much.
Creating a service to run in the background wouldn't be too hard to do. The only problem is that you wouldn't be able to use your trackball to select links in the browser, for example. Good in theory, wouldn't work great in practise i don't think.
Here are the reasons why this would be a great function, and how it should go down:
The capacitive home button is not as responsive as it should be. I think we all use it A LOT, so making sure it worked perfectly everytime would be awesome. Especially when accessing "recent apps" and long pressing the home button, the capacitive button will occasionally take you home before you see your recent apps.
Double tapping can be incorporated into the home button. With the capacitive button, double tapping it has an almost 50% chance of failure. The trackball home button would fix this.
I don't know about you guys, but I usually dont use the trackball to select things on the screen. Touching it is so much easier. The trackball would be much more usefull for notifications, scrolling, and as a home button.
I agree with a previous poster, the trackball should be given to option to route to anywhere the user would like it to... Though I don't know what else there is to route to...
The ACTUAL home button can also be routed to anything the user would like. Maybe to recent apps, changing of brightness, a favorite app, an alternate launcher... ANYTHING.
This is all hypothetical of course, and as a non-dev, I actually have no clue how hard or easy this would be to create.
But what do you guys think? I know this a feature that would be really useful to me at least, and sound like some other people too.
sorry, there was a double post due to the server upgrades/issues on XDA.
Sorry to revive an ancient thread.
My N1 had a broken trackball, and in the process of replacing it i managed to kill both my home button and my seach button.
I can live without the seach, but not without the home.
Is there any progress on this topic ?

Never mind, it was a software problem caused by an incomplete flash. (wiped everything separately, but that wasn't sufficient. Returning to factory settings did the trick)
All I want is trackball to blink beautifully for me!
That's all, baby.
+1
I would also like trackball mods such as
double tap to go to an app and other tap patterns for the trackball
There are many ICS version. They all lack function "Answer call with home button ". I live in Finland and here is about -20 Degree celcius. I want to answer with home button, How can i do it? How to enable this function?
Need one too
I don't really live in a place that cold but would like to have the 'home key to answer calls' functionality.
Has anyone found a way?
I remember there was a app to answer calls without press Home Key
just put the phone near your ear and call will be connected.
I don't remember app's name but i think "Quick Answer" will do it too.
or use "ShakeCall" with shaking phone to answer.
