Pretty accurate when using voice command on calling contacts and opening apps, but every time I use voice command on searches, it says "Can't access Bing right now"..., but I can use Bing to search when not using voice command.
Will it be because of my location as I don't live in USA?

I doubt it's your location. I'm in the USA and I get that message a lot even with basic searches via text input.

Not sure if your location is an issue, I wouldn't say it isn't as it certainly could be. that being said, I only run into this issue when I don't have a data/WiFi connection on my phone. Otherwise voice command has been perfect.

Hi guys, have looked but have not found an answer to this question. I do a lot of driving in rental cars, and because I work for an airline it is usually in the US.
Now the problem I have is I am not always in a 3G or hsdpa zone, so I have to actually pull over and type out a text message because the voice to text server on the android and vlingo server cannot connect.
Is there a program that enables the speech to text without connecting to any server?

So I guess it is safe to assume that no such program exists?
I'm using google voice for voicemail, but noticed that my buddy that also has a captivate can use his for texting. He's running stock 2.1, and I'm running di11i's v5.6 Stripped (an i9000 ROM). Where his has a compose button to text with, mine has a refresh. Any ideas why? Yes, I'm in the United States and have full Google Voice access.
Have you tried updating it in the market? I'm running a jpy rom and my compose button is to the left of the refresh.
Just uninstalled and reinstalled to make sure, I'm at the newest.

you might have selected your messaging app as your default after installing voice. Normally after you've installed google voice, your first txt message you try to send out via your contacts list. A pop up will appear asking you to choose an app to complete the action. it asks you to choose google voice or messaging, and an option to set whatever app is going to be the default. To get back that option you need to reset the defaults in your messaging app and not the google voice app.
The settings can be found under.
Settings -> applications -> manage applications -> messaging
pick clear defaults then try to send a txt message from your contacts list and you should see the pop up asking which app you want to use to send your txt.
using gv for texting works great, just make sure whoever you are texting has your gv number attatched to your contact because it sends the text from your gv number.
When I started using gv I sent all my most frequent texters my gv number and told them to use that number for me.
This allowed me to drop my text from unlimited to the 200 pack and saved me 10$ a month.

i hope you realize the difference between:
Google voice (for converting messages) and Voice Search by Google (for searching and inputting text into messages by voice like your buddy)
2 different things. and also not to be confused with android voice dialer. which works better as a dialer than google voice search (Which it is supposed to do also but doesnt work properly)
heres the offical youtube vid for what you want.

I'm pretty sure he's talking about Google Voice, the American app & service that us Canadian's don't get to use.
Trusselo, it let's you forward your phone to your GV account and use the Google Vmail service. It opens up a world of options compared to a carrier's vmail services. I have a GV account from when I was working down south this past summer, but you can't add a Canadian number to your account. So, until Google opens up that restriction I can't use my GV account anymore.
GV also let's you, if you choose, have 1 number which rings at any destination(s) you choose. Such as cell, house, work etc and then end up back in your GV vmail. I wish Google would open up the service to Canadians, especially since it was started by Canadians at Grand Central (Calgary company), then bought out by Google and shut down.

I read it as he wants to TEXT from his GOOGLE VOICE account, with the GV app. "that my buddy that also has a captivate can use his for texting". This is a feature of the GV app, if you select it in your GV account.
Ok that is quite possible then, either way, i dont have google voice.
I text by talking.
I use Voice Search by google to do what he wants and cant find.
many people have confused them before.

Voice search can't do what I want at all. I want to be able to text from my Google Voice number instead of my AT&T number. It's mostly for curiosities sake anyway.

I just tried that, and there were no defaults set for the messaging app.
Even on my google Voice web app, there is only a call button. Not a Text button.
I have both a refresh button and a compose button.
Dunno why you don't have both buttons.

Can anyone recomend an offline (I mean without connecting to Google Voice) application for voice dialing. I believe starting from Android 2.2 it is supported.
I've just installed NAND HDFI rom by gauner1986 if it is relevant.
I am looking for an application where I just press button on my bluetooth headset and say the contact name to dial. If the app can read aloud new SMSs and emails it's even better .
I actually found an application Choice Dialer Plus which does the dial via bluetooth with one problem though. I cannot launch the app with my bluetooth handset button. I have to touch the phone to launch the app and then will give command to dial.
I know my handset works alright as I just upgraded from WM6.5 where I had Microsoft voice commander.
It looks I am missing something in the android.
Do I need another application which can listen to the handset or I need something else installed to the android?
VoiceButton offline voice dialler

You can try my app. It works offline. Application is named VoiceButton. You can find it in GooglePlay.
I think this is what you need.

Thank you, Denis.
My question was from 2011, LOL.
I don't have the HD2 anymore but thank you anyway.
The google voice app for the ipod touch natively detects that the device is not a phone and so you can't directly make call with it. Instead you can dial a number and the app will then initiate a call to the phone number that you have linked to the account and then call the number that you dialed in google voice. I need to make my nook color do the same thing. It doesn't work that way though. Instead it gives you an error and it force closes. I am using phiremod 5.3. Any help is appreciated
I also use Google Voice to do texting - wish I could get GV to work on the nook as well.
can you text using GV on the nook color?
You can text with it, yes.
-m
I do text with it using Google voice. I use my google voice number as my business number. I text people all day using my nook. It works pretty well (I actually wish that I could use handcent to text while still using my GV number, but that is another issue entirely). Occasionally though, I would like to call some of the people that I am texting. So I either have to call them with my normal cell phone and just type in their number, but this way they get my cell number on their Caller ID and so they don't know that I am calling them, or I have to do the whole process of dialing my GV number and going through the prompts to enter in the number I want to call.
All I want to do is click on a number in Google Voice and have it call my cell phone and connect through google voice automatically. Right now my only option is to use the web-based interface to do this. Even though this is exactly what the ipod touch google voice app does. (I totally know that the ipod touch OS and android are obviously way different things, I am just saying). I would think that there would be a way to work around this. If not, google should make it so that there is the option of having GV call my cell number to initiate the call.
Being relativley new to the NC . How would one use this for a call. Is there a way to get voice into the unit? I am interseted if it can work but everything i have read so far does not show voice capability.

if you ever use google voice a lot you will understand the question. no you can't talk through the nook using google voice. to do that requires a "full" voip like Skype. he wants to use the nook as a fancy dialer.
As for me i've just been using the web interface which is slow and buggy

Hi,
As you know, AA voice commands are a subset of Google Search Voice commands. So I like to post here a list of "working" AA voice commands. Someone knows about this list?
For example, I'm searching about "navigate to [contact name]", but it dosn't work at all! Someone can help?

I'm curious about that too. I don't think maps can search your contacts for addresses. I hope I'm wrong though. I even try to set a custom label within maps, but no dice.

Yes, it can, but not with the voice... or I don't know how to do with a voice command.
If you like to navigate to a contact using AA: Use the keyboard in the SEARCH box inside the GOOGLE NAVIGATOR. Here if you type the NAME of the contact, instead of searching in Google you can show the ADDRESS of the CONTACT.
The problem: Why Google don't implement a Voice Command for this task?

For sure we need a FULL list of voice commands in AA. I feel documentation from Google is incomplete.

Always will be incomplete I guess, unless it's completely reverse engineered out on an ongoing basis. Is this the "documentation" talked about ? : https://support.google.com/androidauto/?hl=en#6140614
I like "take me home" ; read about that somewhere.

Yes, that is! :highfive:
I hope Google will update this list with important missed commands, like:
"Go to address [CONTACT]".
"Search around the "DESTINATION" [petrol, parking, hotel, etc.]".
"Send E-MAIL" (idem as with SMS, messages, etc.).
"Show next EVENT (in my agenda)".
"Go to address of [EVENT] (in my agenda)".
"Call with [Message App] to [CONTACT]" (Message App = VoIP message Apps).
This my open list! :silly:
And then there are all the non-English languages. Is there a list of languages for AA anywhere ?
Are AA commands a subset of OK Google commands ? I've never used voice commands much, either way.

I was searching the internet for an AA voice command list as well, but could not find it anywhere. Specifically I was looking for AA whatsapp voice commands. I just know 1 command "Ok Google", "Send Whatsapp message to <name>". But I was wondering if there were more (eg. "Ok Google", "play Whatsapp message from <name>") when I just received one.
Does AA not use the normal Google voice assistant? When doing voice commands . using the Google assistant on my home screen, results are better than when using android auto

Hi,
This is the reason for this thread: found info about voice commands supported by AA.
I don't know why Google don't share this info!
Please, post here any documentation you found.
Thank you!
