Sorry to sound so newbish, but i found my stock rogers rom pretty stable with alot of features already enabled.
I just tried my first other rom which was cog. It was really nice and loved the features it opened up. But i noticed its based of an att rom. Which seems very restrictive to me. it also had problems downloading a zip file from a browser while my stock rom worked.
so what im trying to ask if there is anything based off the rogers rom?
edit: sorry. i cant seem to move it
Questions go in Q&A.
Nothing personal against the OP but I wish mods started to remove thess threads without warning...the Development forums is becoming a mess of non development posts

So Im not net to android rooting. I have my inspire rooted, messed around with many different roms, kernels, and radios. But I just got this nook and the boards are flooded with info....
My primary question is (from others using rooted nooks) What is the most stable rom out right now with the best preformance. Thats all I really care about. I flashed a CM7 build on and honestly it just seemed laggy. Is that normal? Or was it the rom.
Any advice would be great..
Thanks
I searched around and saw others post

I searched but as usual I suck at searching this site so if there's already a thread please point me there and a mod can close this question down.
I've been running gingerbread ROMs for about the last month or so. It's been fun and I like the work the devs have done so far but I'm just not satisfied with the performance yet (mostly battery drainage stuff, some lockups and other minor issues).
I want to go back to a froyo ROM. Anything I need to do special for this? do I need to flash the old bootloaders? I'm not sure what is required but I'm sure it's simple.
Thanks.

On this page, just a few threads down.
Your answer is yes, GB bootloaders are backwards-compatible; just don't flash a Froyo ROM that includes secondary Froyo/Eclair bootloader or your phone is not going to be very happy.

Cyanogen you've done what no one said could be done. i have a Motorola cliq and everyone said that it wouldn't even be able to sustain Froyo but, not only have you put Froyo on it you've put Gingerbread onto this terrible device erased Motoblur when you created CyanogenMod 7.1.0-Rc1 i love this Rom and i want to give a big thanks to my neighbor T-Macgnolia for teaching me how to flash different Roms and use Rom manager and clockwork mod and mainly for trading me the phone but i have seen alot of goodies youve added to the Rom other than just the deletion of motoblur such as a built in overclocking tool standard on most cyanogen mod Roms but still impressive prerooted also normal but the boost in speed you've put on this phone with that has a terrible processor is amazing its smoother and a lot faster than before with your Rom i could actually call it a decent Rom so thank you cyanogen for this amazing Rom
all readers who want this Rom look for it in Rom manager and if anyone finds any updated version in cyanogen forums or in Rom manger please notify me so i can download it thanks
Still no love for epic though no gps and camera.
post in cyanogenmod forum asking about it but im sure there working on it
I remember when I first installed CyanogenMod on my MyTouch 3G 32B :')
yea its amazing the difference in your phone exspecially when your like me and jump from stock eclair to cyanogenmod 7 gingerbread i never even got to expirement with froyo

This was in a development section?! And you wonder why it was moved, The development section is for Developing and discussion about developing and roms etc, Most of the threads on the site have something to do with development, it does not mean they should be in the development section if they have nothing useful to add, eg. That's like saying a screenshot thread should be in a dev section because it has people's ROM's in them, Not gonna happen.
my post is in off topc it got moved there from general according to a pm i got
bummmppppp

Hi I am still very new to the Android world, but I need some guidance from the experts here.
I have a glitchy Sam Galaxy S that I would like to install a new firmware with root and unlock. I have installed firmwares before so I am ok with that.
It doesnt need to be the newest firmware just something that is reliable. There is so many different firmwares out there, its confusing.
The phone will be used in Canada on Fido.
Thanks for your help!
Try this first..so you can root it and put a custom recovery on the fly...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788108
Then check the development section for the i9000 and choose any roms...JVR's or JVS's
The ROM is a matter of taste...I have tested 5 different ROMs on the last 3 days...and I'm still waiting for one that will make me comfortable to use on a daily basis...
Have fun....
Couldn't you have just read the answers to one of the thousands of almost identical questions already posted in this forum?
In the end, all you can do is read the actual ROM threads, choose a few that sound good, and try them out. The only opinion that matters is yours, stop asking someone to think for you.

I tried several roms, btw i found excellent for daily use the MIUI rom. Fast, stable and easy to use. Someone says that is too close to iphone style, but you can change theme with one click to make it different.

I've tried many gingerbread custom roms and stock odexed as well as deodexed roms. The most stable roms would be those of froyo 2.2.1, for example, ZSJPK. Froyo roms are smoother because they have more ram, and you can root it using superoneclick. However, I'm using gingerbread stock JVR because of the wider range of theming options

Did Capy's ROM for the XL get deleted or has he decided to pull out of development for this device. Tried searching and can't find the answer, although some posts seem to indicate some kind of frustration on Capy's part.
I have his ROM installed, but as there seems to be no thread any more for his ROM, it looks like I will have to look to another ROM to satisfy my flashing addiction!!! Any recommendations?
Mike
To be honest I don't know what has happened to Capy, all his threads have gone and he's gone off twitter too.
As for new roms my suggestions would be BinDroid or CoreDroid if you like heavily themed roms, or Danny from BinDroid has released some stock roms that have been tweaked. Alternatively there is WRE which is an ICS rom, now there is a couple of things with the ICS rom, not everyone can get data/3g when they have flashed it and everyone has problems with MMS and GPS doesn't seem to want to work with anything else than Google Maps and Navigation
maybe capy is preparing for ICS? who knows...
hope he will be back soon.. i really liked his ROM =)
