I was wondering if you bought an app from market, back it up then uninstall it and get your refund. Then restore from the backup. Is that mean you can keep it for free? I did it and it worked. I havent check my bank statement... Can anyone confirm?

Doing that is illegal, and a form of fraud.
Don't you think google might detect you uninstalling so many apps? And you are aware you can only do it once per app...
Closed for trying to get help in breaking the law.

Ye same here.. but who cares didn't need the app before don't need it now
Likewise was more of a statement than anything else.

Right. The idea is that it would be easy for somebody who knew what they were doing to use a rooted phone to discover a method to circumvent DRM. Somebody will figure it out anyway, of course.
a lady stole my friend sgs luckily she doesn't know how to use the phone at all, its been 3 weeks and i'm still trying to find where she lives
the phone still has the gmail account linked i installed plan b and androidlost but they both needs me to send a text message to activate them and i dont have her number
plan b doesnt seams to works as everyone knows that the sgs with stock rom has a very bad gps lock
my best lock will be with androidlost as it has many features
we already notified the police but with no info at all on her we wont be able to do anything
i would hope if there is any app that would send her phone number to he linked gmail account , or any other kind of apps that may help
The only apps that I know of that will do that are Avast! and Cerberus, but both have to be installed beforehand.
Don't know how to do what you want but i hope you removed any card details from your account so they cant buy things on the app store with your details.
Your gmail account should have the ip addresses it was accessed from this may be of use to the police. This can be found at the bottom right of your inbox.

What carrier is the phone with?
Sprint has a family locator plan that can be initiated remotely. I believe they offer a free 2 week trial.
You can try pulling the call history online with the carrier to get the numbers called
and even request that the phone be traced.
Samsung Galaxy SIII (SPH-L710)
Try to contact google, if you have a police report with the IMEI you might pull of a IP log of the people who accessed the acccount, from the you could go to the carrier company with your police report or the cops could do it and they'll be able to pull of her records by the IP.
I can't figure out why the US doesn't enfore locking the phones by IMEI, I remember my brand new iPhone was stolen last year and the cops couldn't do a thing. so I suggest you or your friend do this step by step and hope for the best.
sadly i dont live in the US so all these things are impossible , police wont do **** here , i'm still waiting for plan b to lock on gps but still no email , i'm keeping the gmail account still on the phone because it has no valuble info except for the contacts which are already backed up , and the person who stole the pone is so dump and cant even know how to install or uninstall apps
How do you know that shes that dumb?

if only some one made an app that will look for a contact name and send an sms to it and the user can save that predefined contact to google contacts which will sync to the phone
so if the app is looking for Joe123 all you have to do is create a new contact in google contact with Joe123 and input you second phone number
then wait for it to sync with the stolen phone then install that app which will send you an sms with the theif number and possibly GPS if available
and once you get that number you can install androidlost and start controlling the phone
thats just an idea and i hope some one will make it true one day
I think the one WiredPirate linked to should work..
You can still install apps via the online play store can't you? Then why can't you install avast?

Leveraging the same Absolute persistence technology used in LoJackĀ® for Laptops, owners of Samsung GALAXY S4 will soon have an Android security software to recover their stolen smartphone. If stolen, only the Absolute Theft Recovery Team can help locate and return your smartphone. In addition, if the smartphone is lost, you can remotely delete files or lock the smartphone so nobody can access your stuff.

Definitely something worth checking into.
According to this article the functionality and apparently the app are part of the recent MF9 OTA update.

I read in another article that, that is actually the limitation you need to be running stock to take advantage of the LoJack feature.

I believe the Knox app that was added with the MF9 update made this LoJack app able to work.

I will have to look into this
Phone theft is out of control,
especially when it leads to murder.
Lol haha I had to paste that...
This looks like what cerberus can do but cerberus is completely free. Why should I pay for this... well if I'm not rooted maybe just maybe I would buy this.

I could have really used this in June...I was on a cruise and my phone got stolen in a matter of minutes
Was watching a comedy show in the auditorium, left phone on chair to go get some napkins and boom...gone!!! i had lookout, but it doesn't do any good if there is no data in the open seas
At least with this, if they can't track it down, they will replace it

Also, would this work if we are rooted stock/rooted custom?
or do we have to be unrooted Stock?
Its probably for enterprise phones like businesses and corps. They are the ones who would pay for security. Apple has a new feature that to use the phone you must sign into your apple cloud account and it stores your phone data and such there. If someone pops out your sim and tries to use it they have to sign in and if would fail because that device registers with your account only. A FREE feature btw. Samsung google and apple had a meeting in nyc about theft and possibly a kill switch on phones.
The only downside is the kill switch will be controled by the carrier so they can shut you down if they wanted to. #NSA

it's also for personal users
I called them today and they said it won't work if you are rooted and they said they have some "persistant" thing that makes it install OTA. but if someone roots your phone and installs a custom rom it won't work....but i guess the benefit of this is that if it does get stolen, they will give you 90% of the value, which at this point is $600
1- How can customer supports at Google Play store close my Google wallet account after asking me to submit ID and a bank statement when I already verified who I am over the phone?
2- I refused to do that in the name of their security and their $1 app. I have never experienced this kind of service before in my life. It really sucks.
Have you experienced this before ? and how did you handle this situation?
Can I purchase in-game credits for a game with Amazon android store? If so, how? Thank you.

They have policies that are legal, you refused them, they close your account.... I fail to see the bad service here..
Buy an iPhone where to download ANY app they require you to be verified and have your banking info

Is it legal for them to tell me to wait for 48 hours before making another purchase and then closed my Google wallet account after this ending period?
Yes.

I'm assuming this is still an issue as I've run TrevE's tools to see if the GS5 has CIQ, it does.
My questions is, has anyone paid for his app to delete CIQ or is there a new universal program that everyone else is using. All the CIQ posts that I've seen are from 2011.
I would like to know:
If it is safe to do so and not cause service outages?
If just deleting the two files would do it or is it more involved?
What app should I use that is easiest to get rid of CIQ safely and easily.
Thank you all for your continued enthusiastic support.
Ciq is present in some of the code but it is not active. I wouldn't even worry about it.
