Which SD Card to get? - Droid Incredible Accessories

I am inbetween these two cards. One is a Kingston 16GB Kingston class 4, while the other is a 32GB Sandisk class 2. The only thing I'm concerned about is the speeds on the 32GB Sandisk SD Card, how do you think it will compare with the Kingston?
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820139194&Tpk=SDC4/16GB-2ADP
http://shop.sandisk.com/store/sdisk...42400/CategoryID.11779700/productID.182914100

Real world performance... most won't notice any difference in speed. Go with the 32 GB, as the extra storage can be extremely handy.

I use the 32gb with an Incredible, speed is fine.

I compared 3 cards. Sandisk 16GB class 2, Transcend 16GB class 6, Sandisk 16GB class 4.
The Sandisk 16GB class 2 actually out performed the other 2 cards in write speed. The Sandisk class 4 had a slightly higher read speed than the class two but just not enough to justify the price difference, so I went with the Sandisk class 2 cause it's an all round performer and it's cheaper than the other 2.
I got mine for $27.00 locally

I got the 32g from Verizon. It's a class two, but all the Sd Card "Benchmark Apps" rate it as a class 4 for what its worth. Definitely the 32g...Way handy!

Thanks for all the responses guys. I guess I'll definitely be going with the 32 GB one then!!

Look on new egg you can get 32 gb for about 70$$ there, it's where I got mine
Sent from my HTC Incredible

I got the Kingston 32 gb Class 2 on ebay for $49 free shipping. You may want to look there.

Get one of these two Microsd cards if possible
I have found this card at newegg class 10. 16gb, even got a review for the htc incredible that was not bad, but the person did say that it only read it as a class 6. Was only $28. its sold out as of right now, but when it comes back you should probably get one. Im hoping this company makes a 32gb version.
but if you want a known name brand then I would go with Patriot 16gb class 10 microsd which happens to be also out of stock but goes for $38. Probably just the price difference on name brand, but you never know. both are unfortunately sold out. means they are hot right now.

MicroSDHC 32GB C2 or 16GB C10?

I was thinking about upgrading from my current Sandisk 16GB c2. As many of you know Sandisk is out with there 32GB c2 MicroSDHC which is selling for $100 by Verizon. But if you look on ebay you can also find other 32gb c2/c4 MicroSDHC from TopRAM and Centon. Now I personally have never heard any of these company so I am very spectacle.
Now my question is which would you go with 32GB c2 or 16GB class c6/c10? To me its storage vs transfer rate.
1) Sandisk 32GB MicroSDHC Class 2 = $100
2) Kingston 16GB MicroSDHC Class 10 = $135
Clearly you should really been far 16GB storage even as decided to use even go want to do look more like 32GB transfer rate?
FYI 16gb class 10 Kingston is $98.99 over @ newegg and if you look hard enough u can find it around $79
I am not sure what you are saying but some claims that the Sandisk 32GB C2 they get around 5mb/s write. So IDK ATM as Kingston 32GB Class 6 is selling for $700 on ebay WTF? Last time I check they didn't even have 32GB class 2, could be fake who knows.

I am aware of that as they been had it for sometimes now but I was more leading to 32GB but who knows if I do decide to go with 16GB I might go with C10 from Kingston.
But has anyone tried TopRAM 32GB Class 4 or Centon 32GB Class 4? If so is it thoughly tested via R/W IOPs and fully chunking the card.

You cant go wrong with ScanDisk
its a safe bet
ilordvader could you test the R/W speed of your card and post back.
So after searching and reading many threads in various forums I came to the conclusion that even class 6 is an overkill so class 10 is out of the question other than bragging rights.
Now has anyone used Transcend or A-Data? they seem to be selling at Newegg so they can't be questionable unknown like TopRAM or Centon which I never even heard of until I was searching for MicroSDHC.
Anyone recommend any 16GB class 6 cards? I am still unsure on not ordering SanDisk 32GB Class 2 as storage is high but the speed is low. As majority of user who running Android port do recommend getting anything over class 2.
Extreme candidates:
Sandisk 32GB MicroSDHC Class 2 - $100 < Storage
Kingston 16GB MicroSDHC Class 10 - $135 < Speed
Are these the only reputable 16GB Class 6 candidates?
A-Data 16GB Class 6 - $53.99
Transcend 16GB Class 6 - $62.99
Lexar 16GB Class 6 - $69.99 < Questionable; produce inferior products
Has anyone heard of these company before?
Centon 16GB Class 6 - $58.99 < Questionable; but listed under Newegg
3C_Pro 16GB Class 6 - $44.99
TOPRAM 16GB Class 6 - $44.99
Team 16GB Class 6 - $44.99
i bought this. Komputerbay 32GB MicroSD SDHC Microsdhc Class 6. £88, which was preety steep.
i get read speads of around 3.5 mb/s and write speeds of 4.5 mb/s, i cant find my 2 speed to compare but it does seem quicker.
though the web site gaurantees minimum 6 mb/s write speeds.
it was amazon so i though it would be ok.
edit.
just tested it again i am getting 6 mb/s read speeds now.
johnwalk did you thoroughly test the card? by formatting and filling it up fully with chunks? if you can confirm its overall performance then I might also order it. Can't wait for other vendors to make it as I need it now. On class 2 card it takes like 30min to just move around 4.5gb now that's way to long for me as I'm always on the go, but thanks for your reply as ill look in to that company.
I don't want to spoil anything, but my HD2 just destroyed my 8GB Sandisk card. 'Luckily' this was not a $100 card, but still.......
Are you shure you want to spent that much, or did you never have your previous card(s) being destroyed?
Wish you goodluck anyway
i just formated it normally the filled it up with music and video still got two gigs left im like a dog with two tails i dont know what to listen to first lol. but the tests i done with it was when it was 28 gigs full only had it two weeks and at first it was slow, especially when you went into the music player it took a few seconds to update but hey a lot of files to browse but its been ok the past few days, but im now at the stage where i dont plug it into my computer anyway i just access my pc and transfer albums by wifi takes about a minute an album, any video usually gets streamed anyway, but wanted a bigger selection when i go on holiday next month.
def recomend this card thougth the first few days i thought i should have gone for the class two, im now happy with it now it all working properly.
I'm at work now and in an hour when I go home ill thoroughly look in to this card and post my finding. As I never even have heard of the company and if I like it ill post feedback here so others can buy it with confidence.
Far as flr goes how did HD2 destroy your card? corrupted the data? or the flash device is unreadable fully? BTW I never needed an flash card before as this is my first smartphone. Also I was welling to spend $750 few months before HD2 was officially deployed in USA. So I'm not worried about $100.
PS: Also have an eye on HD3 as the spec is 90% accurate from my guess after looking at the specs. So let's see what happens as I don't want a device which may have 2 versions, hence EU-Leo512 and EU-Leo1024.
off topic but im seriously looking into the new batch of android tablets which are just coming out now, maybe 7" or 10"

Hope the HD3 is for Att this time
I've got up to 14.7 MB/sec on my 16GB Kingston Class 10.. and my phone works soo smooth now!
Compared android sliding of homepage on my 2GB Class 2 card and my 16GB Class 10 card, and there is some lag with the 2GB card, and none at all (100% realtime) with the 16GB card..
So, personally I'd say; save some exrtra bucks and go for the 16GB Class 10 Kingston one!
@HyperNode
There are several threads here regarding SD cards being destroyed, or whatever description is given to it.
From one moment to another you get the message that you're card has to be formatted. If you accept it, it says something like (only) 30 MB being available, which doesn't get formatted. Your card can no longer be seen by your HD2, nor by your PC or any other cardreader (afaik)
I´ve never had this problem before. It looks like a specific HD2 problem.
Either with or without a combination to a specific brand or card.
I'm very curious about your experiences.
Please keep us updated.
Thanks and goodluck!
Same here. Mythen hd 2 just destroyed my SD card des SYstem ago
It happened already bevor, Thatcher i couldn't See Thema data anymore , but nie i Cantel even Format it anymore

32GB Class 6 MicroSD - Does it exist?

Where can you purchase an actual Class 6 32GB MicroSD card, or do they even exist right now? I've seen some on ebay, but I'm doubtful that they are legit.
Here's the one I found on Ebay:
32GB on Ebay
Is it really even worth trying to get a class 6 card? I mean, my 16GB is a class 6 and I've never had anything less. But is the upcharge you pay really worth the money?
Newegg has 5 different 32GB cards:
http://goo.gl/eFQn9
It doesn't appear that there are any 32GB Class 6 cards out at the moment.
Kingston's own website doesn't list a 32GB Class 6, so that eBay listing is probably bogus.
I don't think for basic phone storage the class makes a difference.

Appreciate the info! I believe I'll be holding out for this one. I have two 16GB that I use at the moment so I pretty much have things covered. I'm really looking forward to getting a 32GB though. It'll be nice to have a phone with 40GB storage capacity.
You have to keep in mind that the class of an SD card only determines the write speed. So, for taking high res photos and HD video, the class is important. But for Apps2SD and other uses that rely on reading, the class is fairly irrelevant.

Writing takes much longer than reading though it seems, because when I run Quandrant and it measures I/O, writing takes much longer than reading.
I found a Class-4 32 gig card at Frys for 100$ so I went with it, not so much for the speed but for the capacity.

If you read only like 2 posts down, it's actually an SD, not a micro. Sorry.
Well the best card on the market for the price is a 16gb

[Q] Sandisk 32Gb and Windows 7

Hi, there's a comment on Amazon that this card is not compatible with Windows 7. Does that make sense? Does it mean Windows Phone 7?
Anyway, is this card the best 32Gb option for the HD2 at the moment even if it is Class 2? £55 is not such a bad price especially if the Kingston class 4 doesn't work so well for £75.
Thanks
DW about it thats another BS topic for whole diff day as why M$ made this backward standard. Get it you will be fine as HD2 does support it and beacuse its rated as Class 2 does not mean its bad matter of fact SanDisk 32GB Class 2 out runs Kingston 32GB Class 4. As SanDisk simply make superior mSD all class rating mean is the minimum speed meets that requirement.
If you ask me I say look in my sig and go with Patriot LX 32GB Class 10 Newegg has it for $100 atm
Thanks. Couldn't see the Patriot here in the UK so ordered the Sandisk.
Most pc's support SDHC cards, so I would just ignore it

[Q] Which SD Micro memory works best for the Nook Color

I have been searching all over the place for a list of "supported" SD micro flash memory for installing and booting for example CyanogenMods CM7. I have found where people recommend not getting slower than a class 6 but not which brand works best. I am using a Patriot 4GB LX Class 10 and it seems to be doing ok but wanted to know what others were using and what kind of luck they are having.
I'm having good luck with a 4G Sandisk class 4.
Lots of discussion here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1005633
I will add that none of my Patriot SD cards regardless of the class worked consistently or smoothly. After having a ton of weird lock ups and delays (with FC's) I bought a 2GB Sandisk Class 4 and the same exact builds worked fast and like a dream. I then bought a Sandisk 16GB and it too worked perfectly.
Half of my problems were fighting SD card performance issues. There are likely others that are good but it appears the Sandisk Class 4 are a solid starting point.
Agree with Awats
After having problems with Patriot and Kingston I have had rock solid results with SanDisk 2, 4, 8, and 16 GB all class 4. I've tried a couple of off-brand 32 GB class 10 with uniformlly lousy results. Of course YMMV.

I have had zero issue running Phiremod 6.2 off my 16GB Sandisk Class 4 sd (with Dalingren's 4/24 kernel, set at 1200). It has been fast and stable for more than a week. I can't wait for the new kernel that fixed the sleep/battery drain issue.
I bought a Sandisk 16gb Class 2 that works flawlessly with Honeycomb. Only $24.99 at Radioshack right now...if you hurry!
I am using a Transcend 8 gig TS8GUSD C6 with no problems . I think its almost snappier than off of the stock eMMC

How does that Sandisk test out? I have an 8G Sandisk class 2 that tests out as better than class 10 in SD card tools. Not sure if SD card tools is actually testing right. I'd be interested to see how yours tests out.
Just some real world observations that my sandisk cards perform much better than rated, about a class higher I think. I've got an adata and a patriot (class 6 16GB) that haven't given me any issues so far, but I'll never buy another kingston (poor performance, bad cards)

this.
i've tested many cards with zone bench on the mac. class 4 sandisk outperforms all the others on random read/write of small files. it also coincides with how well my sd card installs run. some cards would run ok but now and again i'd have problems, especially multiple downloads running at the same time from market. I don't have this problem with the class 4 sandisks
for honeycomb: A-Data 4GB class 6 (writes at 6MB/s, reads at about 10MB/s, got it for ~$14, cheapest 4gig class 6 around these parts)
Quite noticeably better than my previous class 2 8gb samsung I got off eBay, which I now use for storage of videos/books & cwm flashing.

HTC HD2 Memory Cards - Question

As for these four memory cards, is that you recommend to the HD2?
1. SANDISK MICRO SD 16GB class 4
2. ADATA MICRO SD 16GB class 4 or ADATA MICRO SD 16GB class 6
3. KINGSTONE MICRO SD 16GB class 4
Sandisk because it has stable performance and more compatible than other cards on wp7
I personally used Sandisk for a very long time and continue to do so but i have recently swapped it out for a Transcend 8GB class 10. You can find it
on ebay here for $10.50. Read and write speeds are impressive and it works great for Android or to just have really. I don't use WP7 so i can't honestly
say if it'll work or not for that. A quick search in the WP7 Q&A could shed some light on it. I just couldn't foresee how it would even be a problem though.
Google the SD cards your interested but add the word benchmark to the end. This can give some insight on what cards generally have the better
performance and which don't. Higher speed ratings don't always mean better scores so look at the benchmarks and most important, the reviews.
If Sandisk is the card your most interested in i could sell you some of mine. I can't compete with China or knockoff prices but i could offer something
cheaper then what you might pay at Best Buy, Target or even Walmart. $8 for a 8GB sandisk class 4, $15 for a 16GB sandisk class 4 or both for $20.
Improtant warning about (some) sandisk cards. While shopping in the past i did see a lot of fake sandisk cards. I've always heard the easiest way to spot
a fake sandisk is buy looking where the speed rating is placed. If its off to the corner then it might be fake. It should be centered in the middle as all mine are.
Sankdisk, if not Kingstone.
Honestly, I'd go all the way and get 32gb. Thats what I did.
Sandisk, and buy only from certified OEM seller.
Any card from auction: 95% probability of getting fake one. They may work as original, or may not.
I recommend samsung 32GB class10.
Its effect is very good.
