Hi everyone,
I have an SGS 9000 with stock 2.1 + Voodoo lagfix on it.
When I bought it, the browser would detect and use Flash because it would use Flash Lite. I have since done a factory reset several times, and noticed that neither browser (Google's stock browser and Opera) can use Flash sites any more. I tried to remedy this problem by installing the Flash 10.1 apk onto the SGS but predictably this did not work.
Does any one know how to get Flash Lite to work with either the stock browser or Opera on 2.1?
Regards.
Please note: I shall not upgrade to Android 2.2 until the Voodoo lag fix is available. Then I shall. Discussions about Android 2.2 should be considered out of scope.

Is it possible to downgrade from 2.2 to 2.1? I upgraded to 2.2 yesterday and now the phone is very sluggish. In 2.1 Launcher Pro was smooth as a baby's bottom and now it's not.
After the upgrade I did a factory reset, which I've read would solve a lot of problems.
Same problem
I am looking for the same solution.
Since I upgraded my galaxy s to 2.2 using odin3 I've got a lot of problems on the phone now. The Swype doesn't work Internet keeps crashing and the operating system crashes too. Google voice speak is also not working.
I've heard the only option is to re flash it but I don't know how to reflash or downgrade it to 2.1
Please let us know. My basement got changed to jp1 after Odin3
Most problem is old settings from 2.1.
The easiest way is to do a factory reset. Wipe the catch and format the internal sdcard.
If that works you can put back your app. Don't restor any old settings.
The other way is to make sure the phone is clean and flash latest firmware with odin.

Its not good idea to flash sgs by stock firmware. Use last froyo from samfirmwares. You can flash your phone sevral times using various firmwares until you'll get it working.
i just flashed my kernel to CF-Root... now i got bootloop evrytime i open wifi connection.
i am forced to factory reset in CWM 3.
what i want now is to restore my previous kernel which is the stock kernel for Gingerbread 2.3.3 DXJV9.
please help me how to flashed back to stock kernel.
Iam from Germany and iam using the german Kies! But i have installed trough spooffw and UK Version of GIngerbread 2.3.3 because in Germany the GIngerbread Update trough Kies wsa not available. But today it started i saw in the internet. So i need to get back to Stock german Froyo so that the german Kies indentify it and update it but which is this stock german Froyo 2.2 Rom?
Thank your very much for you considerations
Flash back to your stock Eclair 2.1 (Choose the right file depending on your region go to this website samfirware.com), and then upgrade via Kies.
Ok i will test it hopefully i get the right Rom from samfirmware.com
Rooting Gingerbread on my SGS
Hello folks,
first of all I really appreciate the work you put in here to satisfy the community with all the helpful apps and stuff. TY!
Well, it came to the point that I used Kies to update my Germanish SGS i9000 (O²) and the only thing I miss now is the root access to get rid of some really unwanted and memory eating apps.
I used SuperOneClick on Froyo and earlier versions which worked great but seems this is not working on 2.3.3 anymore. Well, I was reading the guide on how to install this CF Kernel but I got scared because others seems to have some reboot issues after doing so. I have to admit that I really don't have much clue about all the Odin pushes and Kernel stuff, and the more I try to understand, the more I get confused (I might blame it only on my age tho^^).
Is there anyone out here that could just guide me to the right CF download for my SGS? That would really help me alot.
Another question would be, after changing the Kernel, can this mess up upgrading to a newer firmware in the future? Do I have to install the original kernel before?
Model: GT-I9000
Firmware: 2.3.3
Kernel Version: 2.6.35.7-I9000XWJVI-CL210427
I downloaded an Eclair Rom from Samfirmware.com but i cant flash it on my sgs i9000 so i decided to flash an Gingerbread 2.3.3 JVO from samfirmware. IS that an official Gingerbread or an customized?
If you want to root under Gingerbread you need to flash another Kernel e.g from Supercurio. Get ODin 1.3 and search in development section for an Kernel and flash it then you ahev superuser rights
Hello,
I have a unlocked and rooted Captivate. Recently in installed OCLF Lag Fix and did "OneClickLagFix V2+". It is safe to update to android 2.2 from 2.1? If yes, then what is the best way?
Thanks in advance.
Just disable lagfix and flash any custom 2.2 ROM you want inside CWM.

Thansk for the reply. I will do it tomorrow. I am new to android, I hope all goes well. Will update my results.
OCLF is so 2k10
*If you're not on Gingerbread, you should be shot*
Don't forget to remove the ext2 tools after disabling lagfix.

The only time my phone has ever been on lagfix is when the ROM I flash comes with it. I really don't see any difference at all in performance with or without it. The only reason I'm not on GB is because I had TONS of problems with apps working and got fed up with it. If my signature still says KF1 then its old. I'm on XDA app so I can't tell.
Hello All, Finally I updated my Captiavte with Andriod 2.2 few days ago. I was not able to do that before because of some issues."
I un-lagfix my mobile and used Odin3 v1.0 to flash "I897UCKB1-homeBinary.tar ROM...
I feel now that my mobile is slower then before... But got some new features.
Can anyone tell me difference between "I897UCKB1-homeBinary.tar" and ''I896UXJL1-stock"?

Hello All,
I applied lagfix on my android 2.2 OS and wow!!! speed is now 200% increased!!!!
Is 2.3 available for captivate ?
Many flavors of 2.3, just be sure to read the installation instructions and understand GB bootloaders before trying.
2.1 to 2.2 to Black Screen to Semi brick to Working Captivate...
Hello All,
I had some heck of the experiences in last 2 weeks which I would like to share.
-> I had successfully updated my captivate from Android 2.1 to 2.2. Using "I897UCKB1-homeBinary.tar" ROM from BriefMobile site. After this update my three button combo for entering recovery mode stopped working. I could only go into downloading and recovery mode by using Android SDK.
-> And as written in my earlier post, I felt that speed is slow so i "lagfix"-ed it. This gave very good results and all was working fine...
-> Until one day... I was installing blik calendar widget after downloading it from site(I don't remember link now)... This installation never ended, it was continuing even after 15 mins so I used Task Killer to kill the installation... After that it became very slow... I restarted the mobile and what the hell!!!! mobile was stuck at boot screen... Mobile was stuck at "S" logo.
-> I tried all the combos I could find on net to enter into downloading mode but none work. Computer was not recognizing captivate while it was stuck as S logo.
-> After few days I used USB JIG method to bring my captivate into downloading mode.
-> Tried to flash earlier installed ROM "I897UCKB1" via Odin 3. It was successful but now after boot animation I was getting black screen. Lights on button were glowing on pressing and mobile was vibrating but ... It was in useless state.
-> Tried to flash "I896UXJI2" ROM, same condition as above.
-> Then I tried to Flash "I897UCJF6-final-OCD-REV0.zip" downloaded from xda... with repartition option checked. It stucked in between and i had to remove battery.
-> Now mobile was in Semi Brick state.
-> All this time mobile was "lagfix"
-> Then somehow I got back my captivate using :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7614957&postcount=6
-> Now captivate is working find but still 3 button combo is not working...
Which ROM should I use now to upgrade to for 2.2?
Is custom ROM better? Cognition !!!
Should I install ClockworkMod Recovery?

First, if you are at stock 2.1 eclair, you can use the 3-button odin one-click. As long as you have the eclair/froyo bootloaders, that will work properly. But for the love of all that is sacred and captivatible, make 100000000% sure you have the proper bootloaders first. Flash back to stock eclair if necessary to make sure of this. I cannot stress this enough. If you do not have the eclair/froyo bootloaders in place before using the 3-button fix, you will murder your phone. It will die, and you will most likely have to pay real money to get it fixed. Make sure you have the eclair/froyo bootloaders before using the 3-button fix.
(Sorry. I just wanted to make sure that you avoid an all-too-common issue on the board.)
What may be a better option for you would be to upgrade to Gingerbread. Part of that upgrade process will flash the GB bootloaders, which will automatically have your button combinations fixed.
In either case, there is some level of bootloader flashing involved, which does mean some level of risk - make sure to read up on it thoroughly before you do anything.
And custom roms, in my opinion, are always better than stock. Clockworkmod Recovery is something you'll definitely want to have (and is usually included in the kernels that you'll flash along with custom rom upgrades).

There are several roms that I897 GB based right now.
Like Atomic Fusion 1.5 and Cog v2, both are awesome roms.
Both will be developed even further, when source comes out! (The Official 2.3 update from ATT)
Hi everyone,
Sorry if this is a stupid question, but is there a good guide to flashing my phone back to a stock rom? and also what rom should I use?
EDIT: Currently running Darky's 10.2.1 V2
Thanks
Rob
First, go to the general section of the gt-i9000 forum here and look for the list of stock roms. Download the one that you want, and make sure it has bootloaders if you're flashing between froyo, gb, or ics. Then, enter recovery mode, wipe data, wipe cache partition and do a factory reset. Finally, enter download mode and use odin to flash the rom.
As I have said before and will continue to say over and over again, the best stock roms are the froyo 2.2.1 roms, rather than the gingerbread roms. Froyo roms have more free ram, fewer background porcesses and are therefore free of micro-lags and fully capable of multitasking many apps at once, like a full faccebook page, angry birds and the gallery at the same time. On gingerbread, those apps would have been put in sleep mode if they were all open at once.
Froyo ZSJPK 2.2.1 was the best stock rom for me. I've tried JVQ, JVR, JVT and JVU value pack and they are all not as good; even the custom gingerbread roms aren't as smooth as 2.2.1, with the exception of when the Semaphore BigMem kernel is used, and also the Gaming rom.
In short, if you are going for a stock rom, choose XXJS_ or ZSJPK. Gingerbread roms are slightly laggy, have phone.apk issues and some battery issues.
Thanks very much, this is very helpful. I'll give it a go at the weekend!
EDIT: Just wondering if I need to re-partition or use any other options in Odin...
Pit512 + repartition when on MIUI/CM and flash to Samsung (stock).
Where can we download XXJS_ or ZSJPK.I dont see them on sammobile?

I9000ZSJPK is an Asian Rom. You can find it there .
Why the hell would someone from eu or usa install asian rom?
It's the weekend here too (Seoul) and I am planning to reflash my I9000, which is on stock JVQ and has been misbehaving lately.
I notice lags, Internet connectivity problems, WIFI not "seeing" the home network, etc. I do not do games or social apps,a bit of streaming and news applications (BBC, FT, Economist), email, calendar, that is it.
Anyways, I was going for JVU, but read this post and now I am really puzzled.
It is not the first time I read that Froyo works better than Gingerbread.
Does it mean that after one year of development, there are no advantages in Gingerbread over Froyo?
Any other views on this? I know it is a complicated question
