ok so here's my question, I'll try to explain what I'm trying to do.
So I long press my app drawer icon in my dockbar and it pops up a menu, I choose "Change Shortcut".
Then I choose "LauncherPro Shortcuts". From there I choose "Create New"...
Now here is where I'm stuck, I want to create a shortcut that lets me hide/show the Status Bar when I press it. Does anybody have any idea how to go about this?
Yes I know theres an option to hide the Notification Bar, and yes, I know I can assign hide/show Notification Bar with a swipe gesture. Put I want to do it with just a press of the icon and open the app drawer with a swipe gesture (I have my reasons ha)

Is it possible to:
1. Place direct dial contact shortcuts on the homescreen that have a picture or an icon? I lost myfavs with the cyan rom (and its worth it) but adding contact shortcuts just get me the rolodex icon for each contact and Id like to have a picture icon for each.
2. Put a notifications shortcut on the homescreen? I hate having to hit the menu button and then hit the notifications shortcut. Id like to have it right on my screen.

Better Cut will do it for you.
why would you want a notification short cut? all you do is drag the top of the phone down and the notification window comes down. no need to press menu or anything like that

While I didnt know this (thanks!) what I was referring too was the ability to look at my home screen and see a notification for missed call, or new email, etc. That way if i see I missed a call I can touch that icon instead of going through the notifications menu.
Hi,
I was wondering if there was a way to hide the status bar in my homescreens but have it reappear just when I receive a notification (so I can see the preview on the status bar).
Also, is there a way to hide my status bar in my homescreens but have it reappear by tapping the area where it would normally be?
I have looked for a way to do this but I have only found methods of completely hiding the status bar without being able to see it when necessary...
Thanks.
Has anyone found a way to do this?
I don't know if this is what you mean, but I use ADW (the paid one) and I have my status bar hidden and the home button pulls the notifications down when I want to see/check. If I get a notification, it doesn't stay down, but it is simple to hit the home button, check notifications and then slide it back up.
I was actually looking for something that would either:
1) show me the notification alert at the top of the screen even when I have hidden the status bar OR
2) allow me to see the status bar whenever I want (possibly a button press/gesture/etc.)
Thanks for the suggestion though.
Adw launcher or go-laucnher can do that.
hide the notification bar, use gesture to hide/unhide it
Yea ADW- Launcher does this. You can hide the notification bar permanently but then set a gesture to swipe down/up and you get it to pop up like it was always there. Do the same swipe and it goes away.
OK, thats good to know.
Thanks for the help.
I just purchased a NC for my mom, who has Parkinson's. The "Quick Nav Bar" (the navigation bar that appears when you tap the menu area), or indeed any menu that appears, closes faster than she can respond to it. The stock OS settings don't have any way to change the length of time that the menus appear.
If I root the NC, does anyone know if I would be able to access the config files that control these menus? And if so, where are they located?
Tried a dozen cases and finally settled on the sena case magnet flipper. The only issue is not being able to scroll down from the notification screen to clear calls or updates etc. The top of the case is too low.
Is there a desktop app that can do this?
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
If you have adw launcher installed just make a custom shortcut long press on a home screen with real estate -> custom shortcut -> pick your activity -> launcher actions ->open/close notifications.
Then just tap that icon on your home screen and the notification bar should open.
That would work, but you would have to be at a homepage, and with adw you can swipe down anywhere on the home page to open notifications anyway...
I think you can assign different actions to open notifications but i'm not sure how you would get them to work when away from the homepage. Adw will let you assign the home button to open notifications, etc, so that may work.
There are also some tablet tweaks that let you move the notification bar to the bottom of the screen...
Actually danger the swipe down action is another option but it's not default you have to enable it and you can make it do more than just open the notification bar. adw settings -> general behavior -> swipe down action.
That's awesome guys! Been struggling for months and all the cases (with front covers) hide the notifications bar or come down too low. In CM, went to settings / adwlauncher / general behavior / swipe down actions / open/close notifications.
Now can swipe on the homescreen to bring down the notification bar and clear it
Thanks!

Thanks Dude! xD
Is there an app or root tweak I can do to have whatever I'm looking at scroll to the top by tapping the status bar? Similar to the iPhone feature.
