Good your hboot is fastboot compatible, so are you not able to boot into recovery or what error you are getting in recovery
Do you have fastboot setup on your pc. If not setup fastboot, there is a pinned thread in q&a section

ok, check the thread Fastboot
If you have the SDK installed then you just have to connect the phone to PC in fastboot mode install the USB driver and copy the fastboot exe in tools folder, check the above thread for more detail...
once you have the fastboot working, you can flash the recovery from the fastboot
command is "fastboot flash recovery 'path to recovert in windows folder'"
You have to copy the recovery on the PC...if you are not sure about the recovery then you can go to Aman RA 1.7.0 Recovery
Once you have the working recovery, then wipe everything from the menu and reinstall the ROM....
ok thanks now i got it back to stock
now its at the touch the android screen but i cant get my apn settings right so it will sync my gmail account is there any way i can skip tht or make to do tht so i can hook up 2 my wi-fi network

Which version of android you have installed, all the latest version have an option to skip the login...
no i installed rc29
i installed the stock rom can u give me an iddiots guide to go from the stock rom to the newest good working android version and also i cant get it past the sign in with gmail account page so i just really am new at this and am slowly getting the hang of it and also when i try to find my device by doing the adb devices it doesnt say ny thing other than list of devices attached and no devices r there
Okay dude try this. Open the keyboard and type:
[Enter] setprop persist.service.adb.enable 1 [Enter]
(Where it says "[Enter]," that is where you should press the Enter key on your keyboard.)
Now go back to the command prompt and type 'adb devices'.
If it shows your device, copy and paste this into the command prompt:
adb shell am start -a android.intent.action.MAIN -n com.android.settings/.Settings
If for some reason your device was not shown, try again.

You obiously don't know what the Q&A section is either.
But anyways, it was a zip? If it was then that wasn't the recovery image, the recovery image is a .img file. Did you try extracting the zip?
no...but now i just wana get a recovery..any so i can flash a rom

even if you borked your recovery you should still be able to get into SPL. reboot your phone with camera+power, after it finishes checking, press "back" button to go into hboot, then connect your phone, and fastboot flash recovery recovery.img (make sure you already extracted it). You should be good to go
when i connect my mobile to the pc its not recognize, setup wizard come's up and i can't install the software drives(did i tell u i'm a noop and all i know is how to flash roms using my g1 mainly)
how do i make it reconzie my g1? and were do i typ flash recovery recovery.img
Have you installed the android sdk on your pc? If not, search the developement forum for it or do a google search for android sdk.

This is excatly the reason you should read, research and always follow the directions.
There are plenty of tutorials on how to use fastboot here on xda so research.read and follow the directions and you will be fine
Here is what you need to do.
1) Follow these instructions word for word, step by step
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=502010
2) Now you should have adb installed. With adb you can plug your phone into your pc through USB and use command lines to manipulate your phone. To use commands in windows go to start, run and type cmd, enter
3) Now if it worked correctly you should have your phone plugged in and type adb remount. If it successfully mounted then adb is working.
4) now unzip Ra's recovery image and rename it to recovery.img (for simplicity) and place it on your desktop
5) now with your phone plugged into the pc power down the phone and reboot, before it starts up hold the camera button. You should see some droids on skateboards.
6) Now press the back button
7) now go to the cmd as I mentioned earlier and type: cd desktop
8) now type fastboot flash recovery recovery.img when it is done type adb shell reboot and your phone will reboot.
9)before it boots up hold the home button and if you did everything correctly you should be in Ra's recovery.
from the recovery you can always hold call, menu, end to reboot instead of pulling the battery.
Good luck. I suggest you flash a rom to get back up and going, and then spend a few weeks reading about everything android that you can find on xda before you mess with it anymore. In the future you probably won't find anyone else willing to give you instructions like this, so I would search and read ALOT before posting a bunch of how to messages....
thanx

What are you seeing when attempting to flash recovery?
So when you reboot your phone you see an unlocked lock under the colourful "X"? If you do, you have indeed unlocked your bootloader and have a proper fastboot setup.
Now you need to boot back into the bootloader [Trackball + Power]. Place the AmonRa recovery image into the "tools" folder of your sdk and rename it simply to "recovery.img". Then run the command
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Click to collapse
On the top right of your phone screen you will see a progress bar. Once it is complete, boot into the new recovery by fully powering down, thenholding [Volume Down + Power ], selecting "Recovery" from the list and tapping the power button to confirm selection.
Double post.
We are all jumping to conclusions here...let's start from the beginning.
OP - have you turned your phone on?
(I crack myself up)
Hahaha what the hell?
ok so i renamed the AmonRa recovery image to recovery.img and put it in the tools folder on my desktop and booted the phone in bootloader then tryed to run the command on the computer and I cant get it to work what am i suppost to type
I would try putting the recovery.img SDK\ dir, then using fastboot
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
easiest way

The tools folder is where fastboot lives so unless he puts the sdk\tools path in his global path, he will have to type tools\fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
OP - if you type fastboot devices, do you get an item list that displays your device?

go back to recovery, wipe everything (except your sd card). Flash your rom and if needed, the g-apps package (cyanogen rom additional step). Tell it to reboot and wait for it to boot up.
Sounds like you didn't wipe and got it stuck in a bootloop.
All is well thanks a lot guys
It's not hard to root the Nexus at all. I had adb and fastboot all set up for my Dream. It only took me maybe 2 minutes from when I unboxed my Nexus to having unlocked the bootloader. But he got it working now so it's good.
Tried to install Cyanogen 6.1... It failed.
From there the device booted up normally on a fresh start, but I tried to recover my backup and that is where everything got all messed up.
Im stuck on the G1 screen.
Ive gotten it to the fastboot mode and Im downloading what I think I need to get my phone working again. Ive downloaded the Andriod 1.6 image from the HTC website. Do I need the recovery? I just want 1.6 until I have time to try and get Cyanogen installed.
Im currently installing JDK for the Andriod SDK.
Am I headed in the right direction?
I was using ROM Manager with Clockwork Mod. My old ROM was Super E... Not sure what version, but it was Andriod 2.1

And spl? Do u have and eng spl? (S-off). If so u could fastboot erase your system and try to flash the rom through recovery. And fastboot flash a recovery of your choice first. Have u tried going on ezterry's thread with the new radio/spl and going that route?
Not sure what the version of the SPL is, but I know it is off. I'll check his thread out and give it a try. I might end up finding someone who actually knows what they are doing, or buying the Nexus S.
Ok. If u follow his thread exactly and fastboot flash the radio/recovery/spl u should end up with everything as described in the thread and be able to move on with cm6 with appropriate kernel. Alternatively u could boot into fastboot and open up your terminal on your computer and type in code to fastboot recovery of your choice (after it's download and put in sdk/tools folder on your PC) he has amonra link in his thread for download . Then type fastboot erase system -w (hit enter). When it's done type fastboot erase boot (hit enter). Then power down. Power back into recovery with the rom on your sdcard and flash away.
That is actually what I'm trying to do. Its just about my only option at this point.
Im having problems getting everything set up correctly though.
What are u having problems setting up?
I installed Andriod SDK, seems to be working.
Downloaded the drivers, which seems to have stopped my computer from seeing the phone.
I downloaded the Fastboot.exe, tried to run it but it cannot find ADB.dll ( Pretty sure thats what it was.)
I was basically following the steps on the cyanogen wiki.
When I have some time, I will try the Fastboot for noobs guide.
I think I followed a guide in androiddevelopers.com or something like that. If I find it again ill post a link. I don't think I ran a fastboot exe file though. Just have it in my androidsdk/tools folder. Added the variable to my paths and was good to go. Not at my PC currently though.
Edit: developer.android.com/sdk/
I believe is what I followed
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=532719
Following this for fastboot.
I cannot update anything. Home + power doesnt do anything.
Only thing I can access is fastboot mode.
Fortunately my radio is up to date, so I assume my SPL is as well.
Going to attempt to try the fastboot step, once I can get the SDK working correctly
edit: I knew if I spent enough time working at it that I'd get it working.
Only problem now is getting my device to be listed.
Edit2: at first when I entered fastboot mode, I would get the "Add new hardware" for the device "Andriod 1.0"
It now says "andriod bootloader interface"
I feel like I'm so close. I'm going to keep playing with it, but what can I do to get my device listed when I type the command "Fastboot devices"?
Edit 3: Awesome. I got fastboot to work and my phone is recognized. Only problem now is getting my SD card reader to work so I can put the proper files on
Final edit: MY phone is killing SD cards for some reason. Don't know what to do
Got the SD cards to work, for some reason though, some of the commands are not working. When I type fastboot shell, I just get the usage doc.
When I do fastboot update, I get the following: error: failed to load 'update.zip'
What are u trying to do in fastboot?

Well, I fixed my phone. Back to its original state.
I guess my only question at this point my only question is if I switch to Cyanogen 6.1, will it be less buggy than my Super E ROM?
For anyone wondering, Holding home + end for about 25 seconds is what I did. From there I just went to nandriod and tried to recover the same backup that gave me the problem.
I would say no. It will not be less buggy. U can always flash and try different roms though for experiment sake. Glad u got it back up

Hey guys. I am running ubuntu 10.10 and i have successfully installed android sdk and the eclipse in their proper places and added the neccessary coding to make everything work. One problem though. When i have my G1 32B in fastboot mode, it wont recognize my phone so i can use fastboot to flash the newest radio and SPL. i know others have achieved to being able to flash it without a problem.. I have tried to troubleshoot this myself with the help of the internet and xda... but still the same problem keeps re occuring. and to tell you the truth, it is really pissing me off. I have downloaded fastboot drivers and placed them in the sdk/tools folder and moved adb to that folder as well for easier access. I dont know what else to do. If any one has any solutions or would be a help please. Thank you for reading.

The question is: can linux see the phone (plug in the phone while in fastboot mode and check dmesg)
If linux sees it and fastboot can't.. make sure its not permission issues [read is fastboot running as root? if not can your user read the USB device?] The phone identifies its self differently in fastboot mode vs. adb/mass storage mode. So don't assume the fact adb works from your normal login means fastboot will also.
linux sees it no problem.. but when im in fastboot mode, its not wanting to list the device.
Try executing fastboot as root.

ok give me 1 sec.. ill go try it our right now. i am trying to flash terry's spl and radio so i can have the extra 14 or 15 megs of ram extra because my g1 is so sluggish right now i can barely use it for anything.
Strange thing with me is that it loads a different driver in fastboot. If I have it turned on normally, in my Device Manager it shows as "ADB interface -> HTC Dream Composite ADB Interface". (I think it used to show as just "HTC Dream"). I had to switch to HTC Bootloader. :/
Edit: only skimmed. Missed anything about Linux.
He's on linux ... the drivers should load automatically.

still doing the same thing.
ok, what i did was
1. open terminal
2. cd sdk/tools
3. now i make sure my phone is recognizable while in fastboot mode so i do ./adb devices
4. then when i look at the listed devices, my phone isnt listed..
5. then i try doing sudo fastboot devices and entering my password and its still not working.
let me try restarting my laptop.. perhaps that is going to fix it..
ok, just to make my self look dumber lol.. when my phone is shut off
i pressed back and the power buttons at the same time until the white screen with the android skateboards come up.. am i supposed to then press the trackball button to get into fastboot mode?
cause maybe i am not pressing something correctly to get it to work right. ill keep refreshing this page every minute for a reply..

adb will never work if you are in fastboot mode... and fastboot will only work when in fastboot mode.
so Dont run './adb devices' run './fastboot devices' or as we mentioned to run it as root 'sudo ./fastboot devices'
ok, gotcha. when i did the ./fastboot devices, it told me the Permission denied.
im sorry, i must be really brain dead right now.. i totally forgot to checkmark fastboot as an exectuable on its properties.. now its recognizing my G1 no problem. now its the flashing that is giving me some trouble
hey sorry I'm sure this has been covered but I've been trying to root my new phone for the past 15+ hours and after installing Android revolution HD one 92.04a9 through Team Win Recovery project v2.6.3.0 it now keeps restarting in recovery and then takes me to Recovery project after a htc logo screen.
This is the first time I have attempted to root a phone and I'm a noob evidently so please go easy on me. (all I wanted was to hook up my bluetooth controller so I can play FF7 with more ease) any help would be greatly appreciated as I've just moved from London to the middle of nowhere and I'm bored out of my mind without my beloved HTC
Thanks a lot Mr. Tickles
I am so frustrated with general support of HTC. I am trying to get in touch with service for two months and no luck. My next phone won't be HTC for sure, I know.

Try factory reset from twrp recovery and the flash again. Also you can try to download the zip of the ROM again to be sure it is downloaded correctly and try change the twrp version.
You are using an older version of twrp. Try updating it first to the latest version and try flashing your rom again
Get the latest one here
https://dl.twrp.me/m7/
But how do I do that if my phone wont appear in my computer any more?
Its 100% connected to my computer though because its appearing in devices printers but under the name android 1.0
You cannot enter in fastboot mode? If you can, then you flash recovery via fastboot

@istribo is right, to flash arhd you need at least twrp 2.6.3.3 or newer (latest version is 2.8.7.0) To update your recovery, make sure you have HTC drivers installed on your computer and also uninstall htc sync if its installed (but do not uninstall the drivers). Download your new twrp .img file from the link istribo posted above, save it in the same folder where you have adb and fastboot installed on your computer. Reboot your phone in bootloader / fastboot usb mode. Open a terminal window from your adb/fastboot folder and use these commands to flash the recovery:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery name_of_file.img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot-bootloader
Then reboot in recovery and flash arhd.
Note that you should also have a 7.xx.xxx.x firmware installed on your phone if flashing Android 5.0.2 Sense roms. You can know your firmware version with the command "fastboot getvar version-main"
My phone wont appear in my computer so how am I supposed to copy over the files...

right so the fact my phone wont appear in my computer doesn't matter then?
Okay sorry for being silly I've just read that properly. Problem is when I got to install adb/fast boot it says something like incorrect parameter 'sheppard'

Download the sdk tools here (fastboot and adb): https://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html#Other
Download and install HTC drivers: http://www.mediafire.com/download/k7trah995whrw0d/HTC-Mobile-Driver_v4.16.0.001.exe
Connect your phone to a USB 2 port directly from your computer (no external usb hub, better to use back ports, not front ports)
Reboot your phone in bootloader mode by holding power and volume down. When in bootloader, make sure you see the red "fastboot usb" caption, if not select the "fastboot" option using the vol up/down and power key to enter. Once "fastboot" option is selected, make sure you now see the red "fastboot usb" caption.
Open a terminal window from your sdk tools folder
Type "fastboot getvar all" without the quotes en hit enter
copy paste the output here so we can see it (but do not post your IMEI/Serialno)
Then update your twrp:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery name_of_file.img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot-bootloader
Sorry I forgot to say I got my phone all working and rooted! Thank you all so much for your help! wouldn't of done it without you guys.
