Hello everyone,
I just received my Galaxy I9000, and made sure i can access the Download Mode and the Recovery Mode using the 3 button combos explained in the wiki.
I bought this phone in the united states, as an unlocked phone. Since i live in South America (Ecuador to be exact), i don't have an official version for this market and i'm using this international version I9000.
Checked the Firmware version installed and is the following:
PDA: I9000BUJP7
Phone: I9000BUJP5
CSC: I9000GVD2JP5
Build Info: 2010.10
Also checked the unlock status:
Personalization Status
Network Lock: OFF
Network Subset Lock: OFF
SP Lock: OFF
CP Lock: OFF
My phone's firmware is a provider one (Vodafone), looked in samfirmware to check for new firmwares, but i need some advice:
First, since my phone has a provider specific firmware, can i flash my phone with a "generic" samsung firmware?
If so which ones should i choose the European versions or the America/Australia firmwares??
I see in the list for europa versions this one as the last:
I9000XWJS8 ## 512.PIT Version 2.2.1
And for america this one:
I9000BVJJPD ## 512.PIT Version 2.2 2010 December
I was tempted to go for the european version but im just not shure.
Also what about the MODEM/CSC, do i need to flash those too? since those are also customized versions from the provider?
I dont mind loosing all the samsung apps, and the vodaphone ones, as they are pretty useless here.
Any advice on what is the best path to go from here is appreciated.
I bought this phone so i can learn to develop for android but im really new to this world.
Thanks
Search up goots tutorial. I think the CsC version just determines which stock apps get installed when you flash to be honest, I picked xeu because it's Europe generic but I dont think it matters
The froyo I had from goots link had multi CSC and you could pick and choose

You can use latest European version np. Im on it now but im from Europe but was on JPG 1 week ago and its from Asia. CSC is what gives you your APN for data traffic and the keyboard languages included but u can swap that easily using the Romkitchen or u can input your provider data manualy. Modem is your wifi, data network and gps driver you can use any the one from JS8 is very good so is JPG one. With modem its possible that with JQ1 u cant acces the 850mhz band immediatly but there are allreadu solutions to fix that on this forum.
Best advice i can give u is follow this guide:

If u have more questions join us on IRC:

Thanks for the help, i will go through the goots tutorial as advised also ill read the Perka's link posted.
And for sure ill join IRC, thanks for the help ill be going through this process along the day (it's morning here)
Can I download a firmware from the UK region and use odin to update it to gingerbread? Does it make any difference which firmware from which region I use? Afterall aren't they all i9000 variants? Thanks
Hey, my n7000 is shows germany in region, and now its on 2.3.6. i'm from israel and like to know if i should change the region for updates? is there a international region?
b.t.w the phone is simfree
If you want OTA or updates over Kies you need to install the proper Rom for your country.
You can find here

iirc, german models were one of the fastest to get updates.
more importantly, tell us which version your device is currently running. if its already on the latest version then its pointless to waste time swapping regions and wiping your device.
its the latest for now
android 2.3.6
baseband xxlb2
kernel xxlc1

Cordial Greetings
I'm interested to change modem of my Samsung Galaxy Y Duos (GT-S6102B).
I'm from Colombia...
I bought a Samsung Galaxy Y Duos (S6102B), It Came with Gingerbread 2.3.6.
Version Kernel: 2.6.35.7 se.infra_AT_Sign_SEI-44 # 1.
Number of Compilation: GINGERBREAD.VJLC3.
*#1234#
PDA: S6102BVJLC3
PHONE: S6102BVJLC3
CSC: S6102BUUBLC2
In Colombia the frequencies for WCDMA are 850MHz/1900MHz.
My GT-S6102B has preselected 900MHz/2100MHz Brazil and Asian frequencies, and I need to enable 850MHz/1900MHz for gain advantage of HSDPA (3.5G) data connections.
According to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_UMTS_networks
Mexico has 850MHz/1900MHz
Uruguay has 850MHz/1900MHz/2100MHz
Venezuela has 850MHz/900MHz/1800MHz/1900MHz
As I have understood, is possible to change (Modem/phone) of S6102B taking (Modem/phone) of S5360.
Reviewing firmwares that can be candidates to unpack I have:
Mexico: http://www.hotfile.com/dl/164153315/1c2192e/S5360LUHLA1_S5360LUVYLA1_UNE.zip.html
Uruguay: http://www.hotfile.com/dl/157180385/db1dcbc/S5360LVSLA1_S5360LTFGLA1_UFU.zip.html
Venezuela: http://www.hotfile.com/dl/150336037/1906c89/S5360LUHKJ2_S5360LUUBKJ1_VNO.zip.html
I think that S5360 Firmware of Uruguay is better because is more recent and more complete.
For other changes, I will take as a base the S6102 Firmware of India.
India: http://www.hotfile.com/dl/165818294/b3afc92/S6102DDLG1_S6102ODDLF1_INU.zip.html
My intention is to mix the S6102 firmware of India with the S5360 firmware (modem part) of Uruguay.
I want to know if is possible to make changes according to compatibilities of Modem/phone for these models.
I want to know how I can do successful this process. If you have a guide/advise for me, I will be grateful.
Thank you,
Best Regards,
Jose Luis

First please do a nandroid backup..
You can do this i think.. but you are using wrong modem.. i mean 5360 has a single sim.. what you need is a modem of 6102 phone of any of these region..
Band V (W-CDMA 850) in Australia (Telstra NextG, Vodafone), Hong Kong (SmarTone), Thailand (True move and DTAC), New Zealand (XT Mobile Network), Brazil, Canada, the USA, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic (Claro),Venezuela, other parts of South America, Israel (Pelephone,[4] Cellcom[5]), parts of Asia (ITU Region 2 and ITU Region 3), Poland (Sferia)
So rest of the things are simple.. download your regions firmware update.. and download same version of firmware update which you were supposed to have of any of the 3 regions.. for ex. If u download DDLG1 update of india.. download XXLG1 of that region.. replace XX with the region code.. check this thread by manoranjan2050 for firmware files.. thread link
If its not available.. request to manoranjan2050.. he will provide it..
Then extract them.. and when flashing through odin.. select modem from any of the 3 regions modem update.. and use other two files in respective places in odin software..
So for instructions for flashing through odin which you requested see my post here.. post link ..
but i cant say it will work for sure.. as i guess no one has tried it.. so on paper it should work.. practically dont know..
So good luck..
hit thanks button! If above post helps you..

Thank you for your answer
The bad news is there isn't Modem/Phone working in 850MHz/1900MHz for S6102.
I'm not sure to achieve this, I'm not expert but I want to try!
Best Regards
As long as i know this is not possible cause u have to change the radio, meaning the electronics of your phone.
Anyway if u succed, please let us know.

as i agree you dont have firmware for those 3 regions in 6102... you need to try these brazil, hongkong, usa(t-mobile)
which has 850mhz.

The problem isn't to work at 850MHz but that unfortunately there is no Firmware working at 1900MHz.
Has anyone developed this procedure type (no matters if is using other model and Firmware)?
Best regards.

The process with the Modem S5360 don't work (after applying the change of modem, using a S5360 firmware, the mopbile keeps rebooting and fails to ignite).
Yesterday I found out that there are versions for Panama and Trinidad and Tobago, in countries whose operating frequencies are 850Mhz and 1900MHz, according to this Link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_UMTS_networks
Panamahas 850MHz/1900MHz
Trinidad and Tobagohas 850MHz/1900MHz
The appropriate firmware version for this model are:
Panama: http://www.hotfile.com/dl/175764034/ec63d49/S6102BVJLH1_S6102BUWHLH1_TPA.zip.html
Trinidad and Tobago: http://www.hotfile.com/dl/164657793/0f8d859/S6102BVJLE1_S6102BUUBLE1_TTT.zip.html
It's possible to obtain separately the (PDA, MODEM, CSC) packages:
splitfus2.exe -a -s -w2 S6102BVJLH1_S6102BUWHLH1_S6102BVJLH1_HOME_PANAMA.tar.md5.
Thank you for you valuable Help.
Hi Guys ! I purchased my Note9 SM-N960F/DS Exynos in Indonesia. I believe the country code for my CSC is XID and I am planning to change it to XEU.
My question would be as follow:
1.) Is it possible for me to switch to any OXM based ROM (e.g. XEU)?
2.) What kind of problems will I be facing if I were to switch to an OXM based ROM from a non-OXM based ROM?
3.) Will it trip KNOX? I do not plan to root my device.
I'm very new to Samsung. Thanks in advance guys!
My CSC is:

wont trip knox. might loose region specific stuff like samsung pay.
get the correct n960f firmware and flash it with odin.
there are tons of sites hosting the firmwares( Roms as you called them but stock images are referred as firmwares ). there are also other threads to read for doing the procedure without root. some threads also supply direct links to these firmwares. just search and read. you can also use samfir tool 0.3.6 to downlaod when you have the excat model and region codes of the desired files.
