Hello everyone,
I'm trying to use gmail however, every time I try to preview an attachment, open office force closes on me. If I use the default email client it works fine...
Does anyone know what the problem might be?
I don't have a solution but I've had the same problem. In general, I find that the gmail client handles attachments very poorly...and the Samsung client is slow as hell and doesn't support push mail so were stuck with gmail...
Hmm that's unfortunate. I swear it had worked once upon a time...

I am experiencing a strange behaviour in the built-in email client of my i9000. It is set up with an IMAP account and I get a FC every time there are many bounced emails (returned for some reason) in my inbox. There are about 20-30 every day and as soon as I delete them everything is fine again.
It almost seems like those returned mails are "clogging" the client. Anbody with the same problem and/or a solution?
Thanks a lot...

Hi i'm new to android.I recently bought milestone and try to sunc my emails.
With my Tellas acount(a company in greece) emails works just fine. But when i try to sunc hotmail it downloads the messages ok.I delete the unnesesary ones. But the problem is that when i reboot the phone i find out that email's are missing and downloaded again even the deleted ones,or the client crashes and loses all emails.
Anyone had experience the same problem with a hotmail account? Is it the software or a faulty device???
Thats probablt got somthing to do with your Hotmail settings, and not the phone. I use Hotmail, and it works fine after disabling POP and enabling IMAP folders via the PC. try that.
Thanks that worked. After search found out that android 2.1 is not compatible with pop3 hotmail. So thank you again you save me because i'm almost never home.

That's not fully correct. Android is a platform. What helps you with mail is just the application. It does not matter it commes preinstalled as you can easily replace it with other (btw: give K9 mail app a try). Android got nothing to do with 3rd party mail servers not following world defined standards (there shall be no "hotmail pop3" but just POP3 standard). If you can use imap - try it instead but beware account quota. I've also read some too frequent pooling from hotmail (like more often than 15 mins) may cause problems.
i found my galaxy note has the exchange email issue. it doesnt sync the email automatically. it seems that function is sleeping that if i go the app of email it will refresh to get new email in my account, after that sync function works well for a period(push automatically). However, maybe after 4-5 hours or longer. automatic push function will stop (sleep again)!!!! is that the bug of email app? have other people meet the same question with me? anybody have any solution of that issue?
that account works fine in galaxy tab 7, no delay, receive email on time.
thx
check if you have any task manager killing the process?
I have same problem too.....must manual click/select the mail client app again, and pretty sure not kill any background process....
Me too, still.
Troubleshooting on Office website
Do an exact Google search for "Fail to sync with Exchange ActiveSync on an Android" (I'd post the direct link but the forum won't let me) - top result should be on the office365 site, which details lots of similar issues, and lots of suggestions. Unfortunately none of them worked for me
Hi,
When I delete a mail in the stock mail app, it is delivered again from my ISP a few minutes later.
Anyone knows about some "secret" settings, I can't find any in the app that solve this problem.
Or recommend another app?
Thanks in advance!
Ruben
I'm having the same problem.
Changed from IMAP to POP just to solve the problem for now.
Sadly not the solution but i works better now.
setup email with exchange server active sync, b'coz pop i think not provide push service, you hav to set check mail frequency.
Dsable auto sync off in acc
Go to Email - entre gmail credential - select manual setup - select exchange active sync - keep user ID n PW as it is n add m.google.com in server field, finish setup with rest of as per your desire
dr.ketan, I don't think exchange activesync is an option here, it's not gmail.
I'm having the same issue. I think it sometimes (rarely) works. What's worse, is that it marks the mail read. I did not have this issue with the mail app on my htc desire hd.
There are various bugs open at code.google.com (I can't link as I'm new), but the comments are a huge mess and I didn't ever figure it out. I tried K9 mail briefly but wasn't very impressed either. Let us know if you can get this fixed
Another gud push mail is seven, now a days disappeared from market. But earlier i hav attached smwhr in xda, search seven 7.54 really it was nice.
my old streak 2.2.2 with stock email app use to do this. Not a clue why.
Sometimes I would get the same email 3-4 times in a row. Maybe it is something to do with Android itself?
Many thanks for your reply!
I'm glad?, that it not was just me, because I spent a lot of time to find an answer. It works fine on my old Desire.
Ruben
Same for me it worked perfectly on tho HTC Desire but not on the Galaxy Note. Quite strange I think.
On trying to configure the built-in email client, the gmail setup errors with "unable to establish connection with server".
I have made contact with Huawei on the matter, and the response was that I had to install Gmail official app. That made me wonder what Huawei is doing with their email app. They have issued the app with a separate setup for gmail account connection, but it does not seem to work. And they recommend using a different app.
Do they not care to maintain their own app? And if so, this being their general attitude to problem solving is disappointing. And leaves an impression of a half-hearted effort in development.
Anybody having found a way to work around the issue?
I find using anything other than the Gmail app to manage my gmail a pain in the ass - not sure why you would want to use Huawei's app for Gmail. The Gmail app is way faster and better to navigate. In saying that, I do have 3 gmail addresses (2 google apps and the other Gmail) so I don't ever need a 3rd party email client.

I agree to using Gmail app, and its benefits. It just struck me that they have this issue and don't address it at all. They could at least have removed the option, as long as it is not working.

Hi guys, I just started using Huawei P10 a few days for work. I setup the email using huawei native client and I like it. But since last night, I notice I didn't received any email. I tried to send email to myself but the email didn't go through. I'm curious and check my email using my laptop. Then I saw few email came in.
Then I'm wondering what's happening here? I press sync few time but came out "Couldn't open connection to server".
I tried removing the email and perform setup again... didn't work either.
Has anyone got the solution why this happens?
I'm not saying the gmail apps is not good, but I prefer in that way. Almost like using outlook.
I have a few gmail/msn address, and they all worked well with native Huawei mail client. no problem.
I am using a BlackBerry z30 now, and I loved the blackberry Hub, is that something similar in android? and free is better, or one time purchase is ok,
