I would like to see what other people’s home/lock screens look like.
How do I take a screenshot of mine? Is there an application for that somewhere?
If someone could point me to the best reference areas I would appreciate it.
Thanks.
Please! share your home/lock screens with me.
Hey churapa, there are apps for that, but the Android SDK is the easiest way. Just enable USB debugging, open ddms from the SDK\tools folder, make sure you can see your phone, and press Ctrl+S.

It's an apk called "free memory", it manages apks and frees up memory space according to your settings. It's freeware and you can google for it.
I have not attempted to connect my phone to the PC yet, what are the apps that can do this?
Thanks

First, you have to root your phone:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=710677
Second, flash the room of your liking, I personally prefer attn1's Liberated B05:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=708434
Third, install whichever apk you wish, just read the forums, that way you'll learn hands on the job, believe me, it's the best way to go.

Check to see if you have android 2.+ I kno my lil sister had a HTC Hero with android 1.6 on it and the notification bar was white but wen I updated it to 2.1 for her and it changed to black so I guess that's wat it is.....o Yea n unless you got a custom rom that changed it... Under cyanogen mod tweaks and settings for the notification bar.
Is it possible to change icons? If so, how?
My phone is rooted, and using the stock rom it came with from Sprint.
Firmware: 2.1-update1
Software: 2.27.651.5
Thanks for the help!
If you use launcher pro from the market as your launcher you can change the icons and the name too...
Long press on a blank space and add the app you want...tap on its picture to load your gallery and choose whatever icon you would like...there are plenty to download...
Sent from my HERO200 using XDA App
Hm.. That's a quick way, thanks Vandelay007. Do you happen to know a way without using Launcher Pro though? Oddly enough, I like the default launcher.

Download Desktop Visualizer from the Market. Allows you to put custom icon shortcuts anywhere on your desktop for just about anything. You can't change any of the taskbar or menu icons, but it does allow you to change/customize any icons you put on your desktop home screens.

I'll definitely use this way next time though. You can't imagine how long it takes a "n00b" to find the Folder shortcut icon.
Thank you everyone for your help.

Looks like he did... I have to say, if this guy describes himself as a noob, and he managed to search and figure out how to theme without needing to aska lot of questions, I shudder to think what we have to call the people who not only don't know what they're talking about, but also can't search for it...
You can't believe how happy I am to see search work that well. It kind of scares me how happy I am.

Haha, thanks for the compliment! It really wasn't that hard to be honest. Just resize the png, rename it, and find where to put it. Once you figure out that you can open .apk files with 7zip, the rest is a cake walk!
The problem with most n00bs is that they don't want to get their hands dirty... and the laziness! Haha.

Not gonna lie, that lockscreen is pretty slick. What would we have to do to bring that look to Android?

Yea search for ownskin on the market. Then using that app, search "metro ui". Theres 3 words at the bottom of the wallpaper, but you can easily remove it by editing it
Tried that, in ownskin there's nothing to be found when searching for "metro ui" even just "metro" gets no result

Yepp. Can`t find it.
guys, ownskin will only list the wallpaper that suit your phone screen size. so the wallpaper created by sofox must be same as your phone screen size then you can find it.....
anyway the easiest is to try make it yourself one, it is rather easy. try it at http://www.ownskin.com/livewallpaper

Damn. I can`t get it to look right, it keeps getting messed up.
Nobody else want to give it a shot to make this into a widget or a wallpaper? With the black background I bet this would look really awesome on an OLED screen
Is there a way to get a let's say iPhone like screen rotate animation? That turn, wait, refresh we have atm is pretty boring. :rolleys:
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
I'd also like to have that awesome animation.
Also i'd like to get that keyboard animation working too.. have tried everything but it wont work.
Which keyboard animation?
This one:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wLYdb2yK9DY
Go to the one minute mark. On the Desire in that vid (and DHD) you can see there's no animation, then on the nexus you see the keyboard slide up smoothly.
Ah yeah, that would be nice as well.
Is there really no dev who wants to look into that?
Or shall I reopen that thread in the dev section?

There are no screen rotation animations in Gingerbread. The screen off animation is the only real addition, since Froyo.

The way it looks, Honeycomb will remain strictly a tablet OS. That said, many of the features, especially the eye candy, are expected to be merged into AOSP code in the near future. Let's hope for big things when 2.4 is released.

To enable the keyboard pop up animation you need spare parts from the market and activate the inputanimation option.

Why dont someone sheck into it and solve it? i mean its the original ics style ^^ the original softkey backlight in my phone is dead to so damn it! i like that setting in rom control...the latest setting was awsome! no prob for me.. peace!
...still searching for an independant app...
Once i had a rom with this feature in the status bar. But i don't know it anymore and appreciate an app.
Thanks
Wolf
Try 'button savior' from Google play its free
BTW: to whom it may concern:
some weeks later I found the ultimate solution: my ROM contains it in "Tablet" Options - there you can switch on different buttons in the status bar. I use the HyperDroid-CM7-v6.0.0[a2sd][CyanogenMod7 LEO 2.3.7][seader_R9]
Cheers - Wolf
