-Edit: Sorry just realized I posted this to Captivate forums and not WP7 question forums-
Hello, I am currently a Samsung Captivate user (which would suck without the developers here on XDA and the current ROM's), and I am looking to get a WP7 for my wife. I am very familiar with the OS and the SDK, but know nothing of the newer hardware available.
I was wondering what the general consensus was of the best available AT&T WP7 and if there would be any new phones in the next month or 2 expected so we should wait on getting this.
I think you should post this in wp7 section of xda. Also you can always google it. That would probably be the best option since you can find spec sheets. But I personally would wait for the motorola atrix 4g for att that is releasing in March. dual core tegra processer + 1gb ram + supposed 1930 mah battery + qhd display (960 x 420 or somthing) = win

Samsung Focus is the BEST phone as of now running WP7. If you want me to go more into detail I can post back... Just trust me and do some youtube/google research.
Hey guys, recently i wrote an article for this website and i was wondering, what do you think about my writing skills and what do you think about this topic. What OS is better for you and what mobile device do you own currently?
Here is the link of the Android vs Windows phone 7
Android definitely!

You kinda lost me in the first sentence, saying WP7 is pretty and sleek.
I own a few WM models, will probably buy something like a Nexus S to try shortly, I quite like the iphone 4 with it's high quality screen and fairly dense text, but iTunes and lack of being able to change things would drive me nuts.
I'm pretty much prepared to end up not liking any newer platform enough to continue buying them after what I have craps out.
WP7 has no appeal to me, like most of the population it seems
Android easily, I haven't owned a WM 7 phone but I had 6.5 on my HD2 before I put Android on there, and I wouldn't ever switch back
I'd go for the openness of Android any day. I strongly believe in open-source software. Windows is just annoying at the best of times.
i think android is better
I have to throw in my vote for Android. You can't beat open source...
I plan on using both.......
Im either upgrading to a DHD and flashing WP7 to my HD2 or upgrading to a WP7 and continue running Android + 6.5 on my HD2........
Why choose when I have have it all..........
I dont think its possible to say which is better, its all down to personal preference at the end of the day......

HD2 can be so much better on WP7,shame you couldnt wait for WP7 and buy htc hd7 for example!
They both have the exact same specs (other than internal storage). I've got a HD2 and WP7 runs smoooooooth on it. Seen a speed test on YouTube with a HD2 and HD7 and the HD2 was actually faster lol.
Yeah but I've got to agree with most people, WP7 just doesn't seem ready yet for me and I'm not really a big fan on the tiles etc. The only things I like about it are the transitions and keyboard.
I've used a WP7 phone briefly, I think it's a good platform and has potential but I can see it eating share out of RIM and Apple before it eats any of Android's.
I don't see it fully capable yet.
As far as I am concerned, Open-sorce is Boss. Android is known for its customizable system and that's what I love

I tried both Android and WP7 and the first is way better. I don't like the UI of WP7 and I think people shouldn't pay for an OS if a better is available for free. As a developer I have to say there aren't many differences between the two platforms, but I prefer Java over C# so I think Android is the best mobile OS these days.
Thanks for your oppinion
Hmm. Android is better, in my opinion. WP7 just hasn't got the features or userbase (yet). I'm a linux user so I'm not a huge fan of Windows anyway.
Mind if I give my two cents on this one.......??
Ive been using both android and WP7 lately (never thought Id move on from 6.5 ) and I have to say that they are both great.
Android, obviously has the customisation/open source advantages and is slightly more mature. However WP7 is so clean and tidy that it almost brings a tear to my eye
I'm currently trying to decide between the Desire HD and a WP7 handset for my next phone and every time I think Ive made my mind up I find a reason to reconsider.
IMO in a years time once MS gets a few updates rolled out for WP7 and the market has grown/dropped in price slightly then its going to be an absolute beast.
I think it's a very big market with more than enough room for multiple platforms to co-exist. Personally i'm an Android fan but i won't hold it against anybody for preferring W7, for instance.
The great thing about Smartphones is that there is something for everybody out there, a phone to suit every taste. That's something to celebrate!
I have to agree with the above post, Android is better however the transitions and keyboard on WP7 are amazing.
I decidded that my new phone is Samsung galaxy s
Good day, fine folks at XDA!
My name is Charles Schultz. I picked up my first Android device the summer of 2021, a cheap Umidigi A9. Their support absolutely sucks! However, they also sent me an additional A9 for free, so I am happy to give rooting a try since I have a spare device.
My biggest problem right now is that the A9 does not support ASHA and streaming to my hearing aids (Jabra Enhance Pro). The Jabras seem to only be compatible with devices that have Bluetooth 5.0 and greatere (check), support for BLE (check), and ASHA ( ). From what I have read so far, Android 10 and up provides support for ASHA, so I have to infer that Umidigi has not baked ASHA support into their branded version of Android. I have been asking them for quite some time for help, but Umidigi support is REALLY BAD(tm).
I am an IT professional who tinkers with various languages and feels quite at home with Linux. Rooting an entire Phone OS seems very daunting, but also exciting at the same time. I am anxious to dip my toes into the XDA waters.
Thanks to all of you who help make XDA such a rich resource for the rest of us.

Nice intro Charles! welcome to XDA
Hey everyone! I am Ryan and I just came across this thread when googling some android related questions. I like to tinker around with old electronic devices in my free time and find ways to get use out of them.
My current project is to see what I can do with these 32 inch context media tablets that run an old version of android 4.4. I discovered how to sideload apps but would like to upgrade the android version if possible to expand the possibilities.
Wish me luck!
Ryan
good luck bro !
also plis xperiment on stb zte B760h (switch powe button model) which android 4.4.2 installed. I have no succes to unclock it so far.
Hello good people of XDA.
Over the past few months an interest in flashing custom ROMs onto smartphones turned into a hobby of refurbishing and deGoogling phones. Mostly Motorola models.
I've used this forum a few times when looking up information on a phone I'm trying to flash. Right now my favorite is LineageOS but I've been meaning to try out some others.
Motorola phones are my favorite because so many of their models seem to be moddable. The LG v20 I picked up has a too recent version of android to try rolling back for a firmware flash, so when I have some extra cash I plan on buying an unused one from a chinese vendor and hoping it has the old android version 7.
My favorite phones are ones with IR blasters. Mostly because of how much you can control anything with a remote using your phone, I really don't understand why this feature isn't more common, but I suspect it's because of how mischievous they can be if misused.
Personally I don't have much IT experience professionally, I just recently got a CompTIA A+ certificate and am looking for my first helpdeks job to get into the field, but I'm really interested in getting into computer security. As of right now my big fascination is trying to remove as much of Google and as much tracking from a smartphone as possible while keeping app functionality.
Mobile development is something I never really thought I'd get into but I've found is extremely interesting to me. Hope I can contribute as the time comes
