I'm looking for a good RSS reader for our form factor. I've tried the official Google Reader app and despite having compatibility mode disabled in Spare Parts it still only takes a fraction of the screen. I usually use Dogg on my Evo but it lacks Google Reader integration.

Try Newsrob. Its been my favorite since day 1 with my Evo and works really well on the gtab. Pulse is nice too.

Are you talking about the new Google Reader app that just launched yesterday? I didn't see the issue about it only taking a fraction of the screen.
It's a good basic reader, but I do find a lot of the bells and whistles in NewsRob to make RSS reading much more enjoyable on the tab. (And I'm a heavy RSS user.)
Pulse. So amazing on the tab.

Is the "mapping" off the tiles off for anyone else in Pulse? I have to click two or three tiles to the right of the story I want to view. Very stange.

+1 for Pulse I love this app
Pulse is the bomb! I use it every day!
I'd never tried pulse before, and I agree it does look fantastic on the big screen; but has anyone tried the widgets? I keep getting an error that the homescreen doesn't have room, even on an empty screen. Anyone else have this problem, and find a fix? This is on the latest version to be gotten from the market.
The Pulse widgets work fine for me on VEGAn-TAB 1.00 Beta 2.

That one actually doesn't integrate onto the today screen though.
Egress is good, but my favorite has to be PocketRSS.
It actually does. Not sure what level of integration you are looking for as I haven't used the other products mentioned here. This one allows you to scroll any of the RSS feeds in the today screen, using one or more lines.

So after a couple of months using the Hero I wanted to share the Widgets I still use. My sense UI now has allot of app icons but I still find most of these Widget useful. Please add any suggestions and I will post them up on page. Lets create a resource to make the iphone peeps jealous
3RD PARTY WIDGETS:
BBC News (8/10) two widgets on my home page one for most popular and another for tech or sport
News Buzz (7/10) Still good but have stopped using it
Weather Bug (small) (5/10) Removed it
S2 CalenderWidget (9/10) for me by far the best calendar widget (two types to choose from)
Andriod and Me (small)(3/10) If nothing else to do a nice for android information
Twidriod Pro (8/10) simple but works well
Google scoreboard (9/10) I like this allot good for all sports updates
Facebook (don’t have an account I‘m a twitter man)
HTC WIDGETS:
HTC calendar (small) (8/10) Removed
HTC Settings GPS/Wi-Fi/Bluetooth/Mobile (8/10) Good functions I now only have gps as ModaCo's roms have a wifi off app already installed
HTC Weather/Clock (9/10) Still nice looking but have gone for 2X2 icon without clock
HTC bookmarks (8/10) still use them
HTC footprints (Large) (8/10) Was fun at first but now removed
HTC Album (4/10) Removed
HTC Picture frame( 4/10) still use it
Contacts (8/10) nice but don’t use
Other than the stock HTC widgets - small music player, messaging and the ones you listed, I also use Google's Scoreboard. If you're into sports, its pretty good.
Oh and I have the Facebook widget too.
Someone should write one for xda-devs, it could show you PMs and when people reply to your threads/posts.... Or maybe I'm just beginning to rely on the Hero just a little too much these days.
I agree Floridak xda dev should be more mobile friendly. It would be nice to get updates via a widget. It would also be nice yo have a mobile edition web page that you can post on.
+1
totaly agree with the XDA-widget!

what's different than getting to mob portal from web portal home page? (other than saving a click)
lets get back on topic. Any new Widgets out there?
try feedr. It's $0.99 but you can create an rss feed of xda forums and then place as many widgets on your desktops as you like..I like it a lot.
i use the normal xda website all the time from my hero, i find it great and if you zoom in the auto format setting kicks in to save you the hassle
Did anyone hear of widget that would show/hide my number when calling with one press on a home screen ? That would save a lot of effort

I found interesting the Volume Widget Pro.
It's pretty nice and really useful to change music and alarm volume level from the home screen. And it has lot's of options to configure the colors of the widget.
What I'm using.
Twidgit, nice little widget shows the latest tweet.
BBC news, small widget that shows the latest headline.
Did have 'android and me' but it wasn't much of interest on it.
Ditto engaget.
I posted about this issue a while back when i first got my Hero. I was told it was not possible then. I`m hoping someone can remedy this issue as i hate having to scroll through 30-40 apps to find what i`m looking for. Even WM 6.1 has this facility!

My HD7 did a HTC Hub update this morning, it seemed like a pretty major download (took about 10 minutes) My firend had the same on his Mozart yesterday, anyone know what is in it?

Nothing... It seems to me, that the whole HTC HUB is the swan song of the HTC UI. The only very good thing is the HTC wheather and its pitty, that it is not the separate application with its own live tile. Its the best weather app. on mobile phones so far.
The HTC weather app is gorgeous, but the lack of weather info on the tile means I have removed the HTC hub from my start screen and replaced it with Weather Bug, which not only keeps the tile updated with the latest weather, it also sends me notifications of weather warnings, which is neat. Weatherbug may not be as pretty as HTC Weather but it's a lot more functional.

I did the same and removed HTC HUB from start screen. But for the weather info I am using Microsoft app. Its clean and fast - faster than weather bug, only the tile is not the live tile.
I was using weatherbug, but the weather channel seemed to update more often and the UI is awesome.

Ive noticed since the update, they added many new apps, but now the market lags a lot and today has been locking up as I scroll through.
any one else?
There's been about 2 or 3 updates since the HD7 was released in October, for each one there has been no info. I'm really not impressed with the HTC "Experience" on WP7, it fells like they can't compete and can't be bothered. Even the way the weather app is clunked onto the Hub and is the only one of their apps that cannot be pinned as a tile.
This time next year, I will be hard pushed to stay with HTC.

I hope so. Sense has always been next to useless. Apart from a few animations it was a terrible interface.
I even turned it off on my WinMo 6 phone.
Today the Pulse RSS reader got an update, and my experience has been disappointing!
Pulse is\was one of my favorite apps... the older versions (available until today) allowed about 6 feeds to be viewable in landscape mode.
It seems like they changed the resolution for the rows, ans now I can only see 2.5 rows on the whole screen!
Perhaps they'll sort this out later, but for today I would recommend NOT downloading the update if you use Pulse on a Gtablet (VEGAn 5.1).
Just wanted to spare everyone else the disappointment. Also... there is no setting in the app to change the new resolution. If I'm wrong, please share!
Also, if anyone was smart enough to save an old .apk, could you be kind enough to link it here?
There is already another thread for Pulse and someone has posted a link to the old version.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=10735980#post10735980
Oh thanks sjmoreno. I got the old apk. Thank goodness!
The updated Pulse doesn't even show up in the Market for me. I guess I'm lucky?
They plan on releasing an update to fix this today.
-=Sent from my Droid 2 (Fission 2.5.7) using Tapatalk=-
I used Titanium and went back to 1.8 on the G. Must admit the larger size is nice on the Incredible. Too hard to see the smaller thumbnails with 3.7" display.
Pulse needs an option for small and large thumbs for this reason.
I may not update Pulse on my Inc and keep 1.9.
Even the update sucks...
It only scales it very minimally, so instead of 2 rows being shown now there are 3.
Fail for tablets!

What looks great on a 7" or 10" tablet looks microscopic on a phone. Almost all of the market is driven by phone displays. On my Incredible, I prefer the update far better than 1.8, but prefer 1.8 far better on the G.
Keeping 1.8 on the G and 1.91 on the Inc. Dev should offer BOTH size options, rather than trying to choose sides.
Check it in market its pretty cool but I think it's a bit buggy
I was on pulse news just browsing and came across it.
If you have problems, disable 2 screens from the browser leave google then enable again
I'm at work so I can't be very descriptive
GREAT!!! it works fine. Some bugs but this is the first version so its nice for a starting version.
I would prefer to have vertical split screen option like in windows 7 that you can have one screen in the left and the other one in the right

This is awesome. Perfect for keeping up with various subforums at once. Thanks for increasing my ADD.
This shows a dev who understands how the tablet environment works. Needs the labs quick controls app or something similar to access bookmarks, new tab, etc.
This is definitely awesome! I could be reading XDA and school work at the same time

This is way cool! I've wanted, for a while now to make dual page browser but sadly I know nothing about creating apps. I even whipped up a chopped screenshot. Excellent find.
