I took the flashable zip provided by sombionix here and have removed the extra packages, startup/shutdown sounds and put in the Stock GalaxyS shutdown animation. See below for details:

Is it 2e recovery? I flashed the jk6 leak through odin from the other thread and it was 3e recovery, so unless the OP of this thread added 2e recovery to this edition of the rom or simbionix did, it should be 3e.

Yep, I did an adb reboot recovery and the first line says "Android system recovery (2e)".
So can you flash cwm recovery with rom manager in this rom? That's why I had to revert to Macnut r12 because I need cwm.
I wonder if this wipes data nm it does pls someone upload version of this that does not format data much thanks

is anyone having troubles with their Compass? After flashing this my compass dosen't even detect anything (ie: north is always pointing up)

JK6 is newer. And a true leak instead of a dump. Probably more stable as well. But that's anybody's guess.
the data connection is much better in JK6
I made a superslim version of the XXJK8.
Its a VERY simple first version, and a full rom vill follow.
This "rom" will overwrite system/app and system/framework folders, add the fonts and this is all.
So should be pretty safe.

Koush Recovery is Clockwork Recovery, there isn't any difference between the two. It's the same thing. People usually call it "Clockwork Recovery" anyway.
Clockwork Recovery is developed by koush

No don't worry the kernel and modem flashed. This uses Untermensch's hacked redbend_ua mod and does away with that ugly splashscreen. I'll update the OP with a note.
I'm also updating the OP with a cwm flashable for the AOSP lockscreen. I can't stand the glass lockscreen...

I think that would be great.
I really always hated when people said this feels quicker or snapier and in reality I wouldnt be able to tell it. But I think this time this version really feels fast like a custom rom? Everything seems to be responsive and quick. I dont really use TW but even TW seems to be smooth with no lag.
I wonder if there is a rating system of how fast is fast. Every new leak that comes I always hear dang this is snappy fast, gps locks 1-3 secs! Anyways thanks for the leak hopefully we can find out improvements soon good thing I waited before flashing ka5

No sir you just flash it through clockwork recovery.
I would do all that but I cant root my phone because I cant put it into restore mode. I downloaded the wrong 2.2 firmware on my it was for I9000 so I changed it to the right one for my phone but now every time I boot up it says I9000 then goes to samsung vibrant I dont know if I have to change the kernel or what it is

up and running. i just realized how easy to root it. after flashing it, still in recovery, install superuser back.... reboot, superuser and root access is there. use root explorer, find install.recovery.sh, rename it.. and recovery will stay there also..

I have a 9023 and I'd like to give 2.3.4 a quick spin but I don't feel like returning to stock (possibly with odin to be sure) and then using an OTA etc etc etc

tried this on a 9020a and bricked it.
I'm going to remove the bootloader.img from the Rom cause it's giving i9023 users trouble. In the mean time if you wanna flash on something other than i9020T, remove the bootloader.img from the zip and edit the last part of the update-script that references installing the bootloader.

No you can't, it'll just bootloop your phone. Any apk that comes with an odex file cant be replaced.

Try re-downloading or check the md5sum to make sure the download is not corrupted, I just tested it and it flashed okay.
Downloading this from Google Docs seems to yield a bad file every single time. On my 5th download now, every one before has been bad. They get to between 70 and 90mb and then think they've finished.
Any chance you could upload somewhere more reliable?

I have also added the MK2 HotSpot mods to this thread. They were buried inside crawrj's original thread, and there still seems to be some demand, so here they are also.
I flashed these using the newest philz recovery (6.15.4), but I think for these, the recovery you use doesn't really matter. Let me know if you have issues.
Not many of you are probably DeOdexed at this point, but both versions are available.
NANDROID backup first please !!! Just because they worked fine for me doesn't mean there might not be problems !!!
IMPORTANT: If you are running a custom rom and the author has made any changes to the services.jar file, this will overwrite them !!! Who knows what kind of issues will pop up. If you are unsure, ask in the thread for the rom you are running.

Whats happening raw?
Haven't looked in on the stock(ish) thread for awhile. Are they bugging you to death for the NAE Stock(ish)... lol
Did you flash either one of these to see if they work ok?
ps I also have a 4x6, 4x5, 3x4 if you're interested. Debating on whether or not to post it up. Don't really have time to support it.

Send it over please and thank you! I'll finish up the rest of them if you don't want to support them. I've started on 5x6 but I'll take anything that cuts my work down lol! And yes I'm getting PM'd about 4.4 ha ha!
There's a lot of changes in stock(ish)v06. I took all the launchers I did and threw them in to AROMA.

Just flashed the odex version, booted up and made this post from my laptop using the mod! Thank you!!!!!!

I flashed the Odex version on my stock rooted NAE, and my hot spot option no longer shows up in my settings list. Amy ideas? If I turn it on from quick launch, nothing happens. If I hold the quick launch button, the only settings option is help.

using negalite rom, it fails to boot after i flash this. Odexed version.
Did you make a nandroid? If so recover from the recovery mode. Also I believe this is only for the NAE stock rom. Most other custom roms come with the hot spot option so no need to flash the native hot spot . Good luck.

Most custom roms will already have this built in. Also, most custom roms will make some kind of changes to the services.jar, which this will overwrite.
My mistake for not saying that in the OP. I'll get it updated.

I remember others complaining of this before in other threads. Did a quick search for 'HotSpot Menu Missing" and came up with this: Click Here It's from crawrj's original thread.
Check it out, and let us know what happens.
Stock rooted, no recovery (I'm weird like that sometimes), manually replaced the files. Worked but borked my phone, any app that updated or got installed afterwards immediately crashed. Including my root explorers. Used goo and installed twrp. Actually flashed the zip, didn't fix it. Replaced the files with original through twrp, fixed. Flashed the zip again and everything is all fine now. Tried out hotspot at work yesterday.
So I guess the moral of this is screw Knox.

Custom roms are usually deodexed not odexed so you flashed the wrong version.

Nope it's definitely odexed. If anyone wants to use negalite rom we'll just have to wait for him to edit it.
