UPDATE: I no longer have my G1 so I will not be continuing development of this program. Currently, my only project is Find and Pull (in my sig), so feel free to use that (quite useful for me )
Hey guys,
I've been working on a Windows program that will switch your clock widget for you.
Decided to start my own thread so I could manage the updates easier.
CWS v1.9.6
CWS v1.9.6 Mirror
Confirmed working on:
CyanogenMod, TheDude, JF 1.5, Google/HTC Ion, Rogers, JACxRom
ALL CLOCKS - 4x3 and 2x2 -
PREREQUISITES:
Android USB drivers installed (More info on this in next post)
USB Debugging Enabled
HOW TO USE:
1. Connect G1 to computer via USB
2. Extract the files from the .zip
3. Run ClockWidgetSwitcher.exe
4. Everything after that is self-explainable!
HOW TO ADD CUSTOM CLOCKS:
There are now 10 empty folders within the ClockWidgets directory.
5 for 2x2 clocks and 5 for 4x3 clocks.
Move the AlarmClock.apk into the proper folder:
If it's a 4x3 then you have the folders: customclock1, customclock2, customclock3, customclock4, and customclock5
If it's a 2x2 then you have the folders: 2x2customclock1, 2x2customclock2, 2x2customclock3, 2x2customclock4, and 2x2customclock5
Now open the program like usual and 5 new options are added at the end to push those clocks.
HOW TO ADD PHOTOS FOR CUSTOM CLOCKS:
Add the screenshot of each custom clock into its respective folder.
Make sure it's named "device.png". If no photo is available, the default will be used. (Default just being a picture which says 'Custom Clock #_').
HOW TO ADD NAMES FOR CUSTOM CLOCKS:
Add a text file to each custom clock into its respective folder.
Make sure it's named "name.txt". Also make sure there is only 1 line, which has the name of the clock. This will be used in status label at the bottom. If no file is available, the default will be used. (Default just being 'Custom Clock #_').
Changelog and credits are all in app.
If anyone wants the source code, just ask me, and I'll PM it to you.
If anyone has any suggestions or features they would like implemented, LET ME KNOW. I'll try and see if it's possible and if it's useful enough.
Frequently Asked Questions:
1. Will this work on my phone?
No, it won't. This is only for Windows. If you want a version for your phone, use th4r's method here, or the more enhanced version by linuxrebel
2. The program doesn't want to open on my computer. What's wrong?
Most likely, you will need to update to the newest version of .NET framework. I'm using 3.5, so that could be the issue.
3. I used the program and it said my clock was pushed, yet I still see my clock or I see 'Problem Loading Widget'. Que paso?
Remove the clock widget from your home screen and re-add it. I am trying to find a way around this, so any help would be appreciated.
4. Will this work with OpenHome, aHome, dxTop, or any of the other home replacement apps?
I have NO clue at all, lol, so until somebody with one of these comments on that, we shall never know.

How To Install USB Drivers
1. Must download the correct drivers; If using Haykuro's SPL, then here, else you must download the Android SDK and you'll find the drivers in there.
2. Now the next part turns out to be a little hard for some; I've had some problems in the past with this. Step 3 of this guide has some info. If you still cannot get it to work, then do a quick search on XDA and you'll find guides like this one here.

And thanks for adding my clocks xidominatiox!

flashing over to rogers to get all the clocks working with it
EDIT:
ok flashed rogers and tested out the CWS
it seems that the regular CWS works with Rogers so I don't have to have 2 diff versions anymore
i tried every single clock too just to be sure
so enjoy Rogers users
this also works with JacxRom
updated OP with new version
added 3 new clocks by Ted + manup, prash, and matt_stang
for step 3.
3. Run ClockWidgetSwitcher.exe
sorry~ I just new in android phone.

Anybody can help me ?
Thanks very much~

Highly experimental stuff:
Release candidates and nightly builds available via Rom-Manager.
Description:
CyanogenMod has nightly builds for Legend since Sept. 30 2010 as it's become an officially supported device. I will provide experimental builds (for public beta testing) here from time to time. No files available for the moment.
Please adhere to a few rules when discussing builds in here.

"Nightly builds are daily compiled builds from the source, therefore have the latest features & tweaks, but will are mostly likely to break due being fresh, not fully tested code. "
Great idea, but dangerous! Like, I almost choked on my coffee while starting to laugh over the comments in this thread!!
<irony>But finally we can have a black themed ROM ! * </irony> lol This thread made my day, seriously!
Edit: Don't want to spam the thread with useless comments, sorry bout that, but this was too hilarious!!
Good start.
No, but seriously, dont let the kids make you nervous.
Carry on with the good work.
Poor Ali Ba, wrestling with incompetent fools. But we were all there. I'm still there. But at least I understood what he mean by nightly builds I suppose...
Thanks, ali ba. Would you consider automating the builds, or do the patches you apply to CM for Legend support break frequently?
I've always been curious of why you haven't submitted your patches upstream to CM, but that's for another discussion.
Ah, nightly builds I love em!
I work in a game studio, nightly builds cause me nothing but pain as an animator ;D

Nope, no automated builds planned. Thus inverted commas in "nightly" builds.

I submitted all that were useful enough and not breaking anything else.
The most critical one being the lights patch because CM code is still written as if every device had a trackball RGB light. Will most likely never submit that one.

Older Ubuntu phone quantal image
older build 2 of Ubuntu-CM10.1 by delaya73
older build 1 of Ubuntu-CM10.1 by delaya73 for the new bootloader
TWRP latest version is recommended (CWM 6.x may work too)
Note:
The raring/quantal image is large, but thankfully gets installed on the data partition, thus saving our small system partition the burden
Source:
Ubuntu-cm10 source
Building instructions:
Building instructions are similar to building CM10 (refer Raum's guide) till repo sync (instead of official cm10 repo, use above source during repo init)
Dont forget to add device props in "local_manifests" (local_manifest.xml is deprecated). Add the following in local_manifests:
Code:
(Taken from Raum's guide, thanks to him)
After syncing the repo,
1. cd device/lge/p990, connect your device running cm10.1 with usb debugging on, and then ./extract-files.sh
2. In device/lge/p990/fstab.p990, remove "nosuid" from data partition
3. In kernel/lge/star/arch/arm/configs, in cyanogenmod_p990_defconfig, add the following:
Code:
CONFIG_SYSVIPC=y
CONFIG_NAMESPACES=y
CONFIG_UTS_NS=y
CONFIG_IPC_NS=y
CONFIG_USER_NS=y
CONFIG_PID_NS=y
CONFIG_NET_NS=y
CONFIG_DEVTMPFS=y
CONFIG_DEVPTS_MULTIPLE_INSTANCES=y
CONFIG_FSNOTIFY=y
CONFIG_DNOTIFY=y
CONFIG_INOTIFY_USER=y
CONFIG_FANOTIFY=y
CONFIG_FANOTIFY_ACCESS_PERMISSIONS=y
CONFIG_FSNOTIFY=y
CONFIG_SWAP=y
# CONFIG_ANDROID_PARANOID_NETWORK is not set
4. Go to ubuntu folder inside your source folder and do
Code:
bzr branch lp:phablet-extras/libhybris hybris
bzr branch lp:platform-api platform-api
If you didnt have bzr, get it first using
Code:
sudo apt-get install bzr
Now you can build. This build would be for the old bootloader. For the new one, make these changes said by pengus77 here
Flashing instructions:
1. Make a full wipe (wipe data + format /system)
2. Flash the current build and raring/quantal image
Then flash this afterflash.zip
3. Reboot

Boot animation comes from the Ubuntu-cm10.1 build and is the default cm10 boot animation. Since your tablet's Ubuntu image was released directly by canonical, they must have removed the cm10 boot animation before releasing it

Ricardo is always a name in every project of the O2x, and he is a part of the CM team, in case you didnt know
But thanks for the reminder, I explicitly specified his name too now, deserves so much credit for bringing CM10 to our device.
Tonyp is a great contributor and we are thankful for all his work. But this is a ROM, and TWRP is a recovery used to flash a ROM, they have non-overlapping work. What I mean is, this ROM doesnt use TWRP's work, rather it can be flashed in TWRP or CWM6.
By your logic, Koushik Datta (developer of CWM and one of the best android devs) should be included in every ROM's credits here. Also, creators of USB, personal computers, internet, world wide web, which are also tools used in the process of flashing it.
(No offense meant to any of the above, they are all revolutionary people whom I greatly respect)
My point is, if I am using someone's work in this project/ROM, thats the person whose name goes in credits, not the one who is creating the tools to install it.
It's better if the discussion doesnt go further about this off-topic thing, if you find that I have used anyone's work in this ROM and not given credits, please let me know, thanks
Let's try to make Ubuntu Phone OS boot on our phone. Thats the priority here. Didn't get much time today, got college this week too, will see if I get time to work on it soon
I am currently trying to port the android "L" developer preview to our devices. I figured it would work but it will not boot... I get the new boot animation but no farther I will upload the rom to google drive... for people who know a little bit more then me. I pulled it directly from the system.img of the nexus 5 update. I think it would be awesome to be one of the first devices to run this.

thank you! i seen the startup animation..
You can flash ROMs for different devices and it will usually still show boot animation but won't fully boot. For this to work we'll need the full source code and need to rework our device tree...besides it'd be 10x easier if we had a ROM that had legacy support to try and port. Like when cm12 ships out.

I think the most difficult thing is porting the UI, because other things only require to copy the apk, for example the launcher, sony apps...
Sony widgets only work with sony launcher at least on my old xperia arc. Good luck
We've been through this before, people have tried porting ROM's from other devices and it's always been a dead end. Proprietary libs will always be the one road block unless we know any devs with exceptional knowledge in decompiling and patching libs. Don't want to be a downer but that's the truth

No. The apk copy is useless if you dont copy the entire framework folder with apk's. For my part, i started, and can't see the bootanimation. The phone reboots.

Have some news :
Flashed a Xperia Z2 kernel to my phone (Attempting to get working my port as secondary rom) on Multirom.
After it, flashed Uber kernel. Now, the phone still stuck to Google logo, but 5 seconds after, i've got a little vibration. I remember my old Xperia X10 did a vibration when it boots, indicating you can access the recovery pressing back button.
If somebody has skills on editing kernel, and want to contribute to this project, thanks to contact me.

That little vibration was most likely the boot loop recycling after the boot failed. My S3 would do that too when stuck in a boot loop

Best of luck! Continuing to watch this thread. This one is the only OEM skin I wouldn't mind having ported over to our N5. Thanks for your continued development, keep us posted!

Yes i think i can yes ! Look here
Launched repo init -u ... android-4.4.4_r2 branch of AOSP. once repo init finished, downloaded it and unziped to root of my android source tree. Created .repo/local_manifests/shinano.xml like Sony says, and now running repo sync. After, will build, but for hammerhead. Hope it will work
That is only for AOSP. Sony releases the bits and pieces for their devices. This is going to only get you an aosp build, nothing more.
The got repo you listed is only the device information for building. It is not going to net you anything.

Are you sure ? repo sync already has downloaded 35Go.. and no i don't think it's normal.
Very much so. And 35GB is normal for a repo sync. I believe my sync for 5.0 was like 40GB.
But back to your question. Just look at the files that are in the bits you linked. Sony's OEM skin and enhancements are not open source. Most OEMs release source for the modified items related to the kernel, and some software. Sony is rare in that they actually release enough to build an actual aosp build. The files you are using are going to net you nothing more than an AOSP build.
