Can this be flashed with clockwork?
Can you run NVfalsh by holding volume - and clockwork by holding volume +?
is it possible to have both?
Great looking logo! Pity the SDK isn't available.
You can use the Win CE SDK USB drivers

You can use the usb driver from the Win CE SDK.
Follow these instructions - http://forum.tegratab.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=8
Just download the Win CE SDK and when asked for the drivers point to the Win CE SDK Directory.
Explained a little here:

Here's a link to the NVFlash Files, download the newest NVFlash and the one for your platform, windows or linux:

I tried this. Seemed to work but then failed with an error. Now when I boot I only see the bottom half of the graphic. Strange. Any Idea's?

Sounds like you used the Nvidia bootloader, instead of the Gtablet one.
Ah... I did. I will give it another try in the morning.
Worked like a charm. My bad.
Is there anyway to change the GTablet screen that comes up next?
Dont want to impose over the thread... But hey thought I add this here...
Looking thru the Gtab forum and I got to say Roebeet is doing an awesome job. As others her as well. Just might jump into one because of you guys.
Again dont want to hijack the thread.
Put this together rather quickly...
Bootanimation AFTER the Viewsonic logo
Yep... That's just a bootanimation.zip file that you can replace in the /system/media
Just happened to look into that two days ago and changed mine, then Rothnic showed up the 'other' screen. Funny how things work together that way.
You can ADB and push the file but all I did was find another bootanimation.zip use root explorer to copy in the /system/media (of course I backed up the old one first) then rebooted.
Here is the animation I am using now, little Android guy with a spinning circle that I 'borrowed' from Eugenes Macnut13 release.

Where do we get the Gtabet bootloader?
Nevermind, Rothnic posted it in his thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=859383)
Worked perfectly
Thanks for posting the image and the instructions. It worked perfectly to get rid of those ugly Viewsonic birds that first pop-up when booting the G Tablet. And since I already had CyanogenMod 7 on the unit, that's all I needed to completely give my tablet a non-branded and very cool look.
Thanks for this!
I tried this. Seemed to work but then failed with an error. Now when I boot I only see the bottom half of the graphic. Strange. Any Idea's?

Thank God for these links and guides. I thought I was stuck with those 3 damn birds forever!

A splash screen is a screen that opens while something else is loaded that helps the user verify that they did in fact initiate an action (booting, opening photoshop, etc) like the grey Apple screen on a Mac or the Windows logo when you boot a PC. On your phone, the splash is the Androids on skateboards screen. You'd see it if you rebooted your phone.

I'm pretty sure the answer to this question is "yes" but do you have to be rooted to change the splash screen?
If so, is there a version of the 2.1 OTA that is rooted and will look and work just like stock?
Thanks

This is the boot animation from the special edition Star Wars R2D2 Droid. Taken from here:
http://www.mydroidworld.com/forums/...r2d2-bootanimation-sounds-pack.html#post31112
THIS IS FOR WVGA DEVICES (IE: N1)... FOR THE HVGA VERSION GO HERE.
The top has been cropped off to keep as much of R2D2 as possible.
The Droid and Star Wars logos have been removed.
This boot animation has 3 parts, and needed to be consolidated into 2 for the HVGA version to work correctly. I don't know if the WVGA version requires it too.
I have no device to test on, if it doesn't work properly, please let me know.

Ran on my Incredible with latest CM stable. Wayyy sharper than the Droid-intended ones (makes sense), but yeah it does appear to be a bit choppy. Probably not super helpful to this thread, but there you go.

lol. that's ok. We will forgive you just this once.
Got this running on my HD2 android 2.2 Bangsters 1.3a rom. I used ES File Explorer as a free alternative to root explorer.
As others have posted, it is quite slow. I'll be keeping it anyways because it is still way cool.
What determines how well these boot animations run? Does it have to do with the speed of the device or what?
Ok, try one of these. "Signed" is flashable in recovery, the other is install by ADB or terminal only.

The zip is flashable through CWM on at least galaxy s phones and a mt4g, so I imagine it works on others, too.
Credit to jlbmgrnr for collaboration on the idea and packaging it.

I love the vaudeville green man. Can you put up a version without the -unqualifiable- apple?
In 2011, it's not as if we still have fight to get the green man a seat at the table.
awesome boot animation man. already installed it to my HTC Desire HD. good thing it's 480-800 resolution by default. i thought i would spice it up by adding my own custom sound mp3 to go along with it. sound file link at the bottom of this post.for those with a DHD you can push the files through AndroidSDK adb with the following commands. for this instance i am using the rom LeeDROID 2.2.2. connect your dhd to your computer and make sure it is set to charge only and make sure debugging is set to on.
first download vaderville-boot-anim.zip and extract the contents to a folder on your computer. first go to system folder and then media folder and find the bootanimation.zip file. copy and paste the bootanimation.zip into the same folder where your adb.exe is located which is usually program files\android\android-sdk\platform-tools\. open up adb through your cmd prompt and execute the following commands to load the new boot animation.
adb remount
adb push bootanimation.zip /data/local
also extract and put the android_audio.mp3 file into the same folder as adb so type:
adb push android_audio.mp3 /data/local
now we test everything out by rebooting
adb reboot
if everything goes well, your dhd will reboot and play the awesome boot animation along with the "new york, new york" song by frank sinatra minus the voice. this tutorial can be applied to any android phone provided you know where your rom stores it's boot animation file and sound file.
thermanlee maybe you can ask jlbmgrnr to add this sound file to the package so it can be flashed through cwm. in the bootanimation.zip you can open up the desc.txt and change the resolution to fit your android phone and then save and flash it. enjoy
Awesome

For some reason it doesn't work on my WiFi Xoom, the screen just goes pitch black after the Motorola boot logo until I'm fully booted.
I looked at the PNGs within the .zip and it looks like a really nice boot animation, it just doesn't work on my Xoom for some reason. I've tried other custom boot animations and they've worked fine.

For the newer folks that may be unsure how to install - download the bootanimation.zip and use Root Explorer (or equivalent) to move or copy/paste to /data/local.
After downloading, be sure that the file is labeled bootanimation.zip with no numerical characters or hyphens just before the .zip as it may not work. You can rename the file within Root Explorer by locating it and long press to select "Rename" and change back to bootanimation.zip.
Work like a charm, it looks beautiful on my Xoom. Thank you vermiciouskanid666!

Hi!
I've made a dark downanimation.zip (animation while phone is switching off) to replace the stock one from HTC. It's like the original one, but on dark background, to go with the dark splash screen and bootanimation that's floating around in the ARHD rom thread. Tested in my Desire HD (480x800). Don't know if someone else had already made this, but I couldn't find any...
Install Instructions:
OPTION 1:
Open root explorer, rename the file darkdownanimation.zip to downanimation.zip and paste it in /system/customize/resource. Then define permissions to rw-r--r--, like this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",

Absolutely awesome downanimation. Using it now!
This one should be flashable, havnt had chance to try it yet myself though so let me know and Ill remake it if not.
Quick splash screen question, are they 'permanent' or do they revert back to the white HTC every time I reflash?
I flash roms quite a lot and usually incorporate boot/down anis in the rom cleaner script. Never dealt with splash screens before.
Cheers
