Like mobile IE, PTT, Real Player...etc?
I don't use them and I'm sure they take up space I could use for something better.
Also does limewire have a mobile product or something like it?
Thx
FireBlade
basically anything cooked into the rom is not removable.some can be cleared from a hard reset, others can't be unless you flash a lighter rom
Just flash a new rom....
Or you could build your own rom.....
Thx for the replies
Where are the instructions to build a new custom rom?
thx

Search for a rom first, there are many rom cookers on this site that feel the same way you do about unnecessary programs. Look through all the roms and you will find one that suits you.
Well I dont know about ur first problem, but as for second, there is proggie named PocketG2 Pro its like limewire, also there is torrent client for wm phones( its a paid proggie) called winmobile torrent
here is link for info on pocketG2 Pro
http://tinyurl.com/5qgwvu
winmobile torrent is ok, I thought pocketg2 was shut down? I couldnt never find a cab nor when I did recall having it at 1 point that it never connected
PocketG2 Pro
PocketG2 Pro can be found here for anyone that wants it. i could not get it to run though.
Cheers,
Hi Folks,
I use a HTC (Touch Viva T2223), I was not sure if this Vogue or Opal. (I have a RAM – 128 MB, Flash Size – 256 MB). Can you please redirect me to the download link of the Android Kernel.
I am not aware on flashing my mobile. Please let me know, how do I do the same. Will the language setting be a problem? I am referring to the keyboard layout.
Also, it would great if you can share information on how do I go back to Windows Mobile, if I had any problem with Android? How will I load Windows on it again?
Thanks in advance for clarifying my queries.
Cheers'
Vijay
Viva = Opal
At the moment, there are now Android builds for Opal. The only thing on these
forums related to Linux is this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=462188
I only got my device less than a week ago, but I'm planning on experimenting with this when I can. However, I'm still far from being an expert. So I'm not sure how helpful I'll manage to be.
hmmmm...Thanks for your reply dude!!
Well, dont we have a kernel for our mobile Yet? Doesnt the same build of Touch fits in?

Apparently there are three "Touch"s: "Vogue", "Elf" and "Elfin".
Vogue has a different processor so it's useless. Even though Android can run on it right now.
As for the other two, the difference between them is RAM and ROM sizes. The ELF has less than the min required for running Android so it's a no go.
And nobody managed to get Android to work on Elfin yet (at least as far as I managed to find). Although it's running another Linux build.
Great to know that, the progress is being made..and now we hv a linux on.
Things which amazes me is, HTC touch with lesser RAM, is running Android.!!
Well, Do we have any basic requirements for loading Android OS? I mean, required RAM? Does the email in Android support Microsoft Exchange server?
Heylo Folks.. Any luck on Android for our Opal?
I have one now and guess if its possible.. there is a video that shows it working :S

Android on HTC Touch Viva
Hi guys,
Sorry if any of this was addressed on any other forum (or thread); I looked around for a little while but couldn't find it...
I have a HTC Touch Viva (T2223 - Opal) running WM6.5 after flashing it a couple of months ago. Battery issues appart I'm quite happy with it (sort of, since the only improvement was really the looks on the GUI and now my keyboard is limited to English only). However, this Android thing has been banging on my head and I am looking for a ROM that will make it on my device.
Any clues were I can find it?
Thanks in advance.
Cheers,
D#1

I think what D#1 is that if Android is available for opal itself right now.
Well to that question the answer is yes and no, yes because it exists and is functional and no because its not complete and has umpteen number of glitches. Ppl have been working on it for sometime now and I think we need to show them some appreciation for their consistency even with no incentive at sight.

Hi, thanks Mr. Zeus... Does that mean I should revert to the original WM 6.1 ROM prior to try to run android on my device?
If so, is there any place I can retrieve the 6.1 original ROM for the touch viva t2223?
Thanks for your time (and patience for my newbie questions)
Regards,

I was nervous about flashing my first rom too, probably most of us were! But looking around the forum I found this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=497511
There are also videos that show you what flashing a new rom looks like and tells you pretty much everything you need to know.
Personally I'm using Firestorm, its a WinMo 6.5 rom - One of/the most fast and stable roms availible. After a while flashing can become an addiction, wanting more and more. I'm sure others can vouch for that!
Happy flashing!
Thx, i saw those videos, and i am currently downloading them
but do u know if there is anything different as I am using Windows 7?
I looked at firestom, looks really nice, with youtube and the big buttons for dialing. Does it also capture peoples faces from facebook ??

Just connect the phone using USB and let the drivers install.
On 7, don't care about the NET 3.5 installation step, it is already available (with SP1).
You have to install windows mobile device center (new activesync tool from MS)
And that's all, connect your phone, register it in mobile device center, sync it, then launch Hardl SPL, it will work
For Win 7 you will also need 'Windows Mobile Device Centre", for activesync.
It is on Microsoft's website.
thx everyone

MS My Phone causing problems
This might be slightly off topic, but I didn't want to create a new thread for it and it is pertaining to rom development. I've had serious problems recently with multiple roms. I've installed about 4 roms in 3 days and with many i've lost my entire text message database from a soft reset. I've also reset the phone to find my email accoutns have been erased and my text messages were not sending.
I'm narrowed this down to using the MS My Phone service to restore information. This time round I used an old backup using PIM manager from my storage card and things seem to be back to normal (I hope).
Just curious, has anyone experience problems using MS My Phone? I like using it, but it now seems like a virus that if I use it, can corrupt my phone and cause me to have to reflash.
Opinions appreciated,
BANE

mmh oookay but i think you will run into trouble cooking paid software into a rom. in the end you can call it warez and warez here is prohibited
Thanks for the reply.
I have been yes. Currently running Xannys 2.5 without Htc messaging as I can't stand the sluggish speed of HTC messaging.
I know my last big problem occurred without the sms restore (just contacts and tasks) and to be honest, I'm a little scared to try and restore anything from My Phone incase it effects my phone adversely again. I've been constantly fixing and using a phone which was unreliable because of this for about a week now, so I kind of want to get back to some stability before I experiment again.
I'll keep everyone posted on my findings.

I wouldn't recommend that you cook in a paid software, it is prohibited.

Could be anything really... a missing package, wrong settings in the registry. Pretty much impossible to say. Which kitchen are you using? Can you provide a build log (the bunch of messages the kitchen spurts out when building the ROM)?
thanks

Just copy all the messages it throws out during ROM creation, put it in a txt file and attach it to a post. Without that, it's really hard to give you any tips...
OK

I was using it once but went back to this one
