hi,
Ive had my HD7 for a week now and love it but there are 2 problems i seem to be having.
cant use data at times, seems to be when i turn off WiFi, soft reboot fixes it.
i am not receiving MMS messages
are these known bugs and/or is anyone else having them?

for instance, at work I have wifi available but it kinda sux (slow). If I have 3g data, it is much faster so turning off wifi is a good option.
Though I haven't had any issues with data not working. One option you could try is to put phone into airplane mode, then back on. Faster than a reboot.

My browser random closing is a bit annoying...and i just developed that pink coloring on the camera but its not major

im having problem with yahoo email it used to work fine not anymore.

Standby of Death (SOD) with the Tytn II

I have a HTC Tytn II and have had the Standby of Death. It happened 3 times in the first 6 days of ownership. To fight this I have been soft resetting daily and haven't had another SOD in 13 days.
I have a question for you knowledgeable folk at xda developers is the SOD a hardware fault or is it down to software particularly the ROM. I have seen many post regarding the Hermes where certain WM6 ROMs had the SOD.
Then there is the G900 with the SOD problem. Can anyone tell me for sure if the SOD is a hardware fault can cannot be fixed with software updates.
EDIT: Updating this post on 23/07/09 I got rid of the problem on the Tytn II and never had the problem again, didn't know what I did to solve it until I got a HTC Touch Diamond 2 with the same problem. To solve this problem switch band from auto 3G/2G to 3G or 2G only, this means changing the band under phone options in the settings to WCDMA + UTMS 2100 (3G) or GSM + AUTO (2G) only. Changing your SIM therefore network provider may also solve the problem without changing the settings above. Hope this helps someone.
EDIT2: Also read this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=540943&highlight=standby&page=2 where the resolution was to get a new SIM.
Can you post your ROM version, etc. etc. ?
Btw, I have TyTn for about 3 weeks now and dont have that problem.
Installed bunch of softwares already, did couple of soft-resets due too application lock up, but not SOD.
However, I dont use push email, nor let 3G/Wi-Fi connection ON all the time.

Pretty much the same.
Btw, have you tried to hard reset?
If not, try to give it a go. Hard reset is not something that you should afraid of.
I had one problem in the past (strange popup error everytime sending SMS) which I cant find any answer elsewhere. Even I hanged out in Microsoft.com, WinMo forum without any help.
I did hard reset, and the problem is gone!
I suggest to hard reset and use it for couple of days.

I`ve been doing soft resets now for 13 days I know that works... I last reset this morning. I am going to try and run now without a soft reset for the next couple of days to see if not running WIFI and not running with a data connection whilst in standby makes a difference. That is the only thing I think it can be.
I`ve actually been doing this anyway for the last 10 days or so since I discovered the disconnect option in the GPRS connection manager.

This was a common problem with the TyTn and there were a few workarounds that could be done to avoid it.
However one of the things I really like about my Kaiser is that I have not had a single freeze, SoD or any need for a hard reset in a month of using it - very stable indeed and I have loads of apps installed.
So, I kinda like the above advice to do a hard reset in case there is a bad install of something. It is most likely to be software related. ROMs can make a difference here but the shipped HTC ROM is fine in this regard.
Yes, your issue could be related to GPRS and Wifi left running. This could further be compunded by any software you have set to auto run like weather apps, messaging, push mail etc. So perhaps before a hard reset it is worth checking/stopping one thing at a time - GPRS/Wifi/ auto running apps in particular ASync. I have a feeling you may have a conflict in there somewhere.
Mike
No SOD here either. I have found this ROM really stable - and am loving the extra memory

The thing is I haven't installed any apps since I got the device except Googlemail JAVA but I had my first SOD before that was installed.
I don't leave any apps in the running memory either. Its got to be to do with leaving the GPRS data connection running or the Wifi enabled when the phone is in standby - both of which I did in those first 6 days.

That sounds right but then so do I sometimes and I don't get the SoD. If you have a full back-up I'd be really tempted to try a H/Reset.
Mike
I have found that on most of my HTC devices with a variety of ROMS that letting them go into standby with the wireless still enabled will cause response problems. Usually I find that they will wake back up but respond very slowly - particularly the hardware keys until I have turned the wireless off again. I assumed it was some kind of memory leak.

I think it maybe a question of how often you let it go into standby with the data connection active...and whether anything happens whilst it is in this state, in those first 6 days I would kick off a data connection not realising there was a disconnect option... and have it run for however long untill it automatically disconnects.
I could put it into standby with the data connection active and most often it will come out of standby but maybe sometimes it doesn't. If you are not always doing this then perhaps you never encountered it...
I dunno if it doesn't work then I`ll try a hard reset once I have my data connection settings written down somewhere.
OK, good luck with that - and will be useful info if you post back how you get on with it.
Oh and I notice you say "let it go into standby". - From my Hermes days I learned never to let it do that by itself, I would always do it manually, something I have done automatically since.
Mike
I got in the habit as well with my Hermes, always manually turn off WiFi when done with it. More than once I found the hermes stone dead overnite after I forgot to turn off thr WiFi. When this happens, the phone gets quite warm so something bad is going on when this occurs.
I have seen this 1 time so far with the Kaiser, I used WiFi and left it connected, powered off and holstered it. About 30 minutes later I put my hand on the phone and it was Hot. The battery was down 50% so there is some hi-power consumption condition that the phone gets into. So I continue to be very carefull with WiFi use.
no sods or soft resets. I have used hermes and istall countless rwm6 roms on it and none compare to the stability of this rom on the kaiser apart from couple minor bugs.
About Esmertec JAVA Enviroment Stability
Hi,
I used my TyTN with Esmertec VM and all software tried on it worked fine. Then when my Kaiser arrived I installed the same apps and some of them didn´t work. To be more specific I did run Leisure Suite Larry without notice on my Hermes, but it goes black in my Kaiser, just don´t run, I must press OK button for return to Today Screen and kill Java process.
Is there an update or workaround for get working those apps?
Regards,
Taguapire.
Starting to get a bit worried about my TyTN II now
Had to soft reset it twice in the last 2 days now
Today it had just been sitting on my desk connected to my PC all morning (about 6 hours)
Then I noticed the clock vanish, left it a couple of minutes and then picked it up
Tried to unlock it but it was totally unresponsive so had to soft reset
The only things that were running were the HTC Home plugin, batti, Spb Diary and Spb GPRS Monitor (have now disable batti as only used it for the battery level across the top)
I don't leave GPRS, 3G, WiFi etc running I always close it down when I've finished using it
Seems to be a memory leak in something somewhere
Any ideas guys

Do you mean the device-PIN lock (ie the 4 digits unlock screen to protect the device) ? Cause i've experienced there's a seriously bad bug in WM6 (so M$ is to blame for this) with the device-PIN... It causes the device to hang, to 'forget' mail accounts etc... It's very annoying bug, cause i'm carrying around my TyTNII totally unprotected these days...
Dunno if this is the reason for your troubles too, but it can't hurt to have a look into that
Everton1878:
Maybe it was Spb Diary or some other process that was resident (use TaskMgr - Task Manager 2.7 - to check processes). It all depends on what 3rd party applications you have installed on your tytn II, some mess with registry or keep resident processes.

Well I went approx 37 hours before I encountered a problem... it wasn't an SOD but I couldn't connect to a data connection. I hadn't used the device for a few hours no data connections running obviously when I tried to connect, it kept trying and trying and eventually popped a message saying that it couldn't connect for unknown reason and that I should reset my device.
Thinking that maybe the GPRS was down I left it overnight and tried again this morning same problem. Eventually I decided to soft reset as suggested and the data connection worked again immediately afterwards.
This is the first time this has happened to me and in view of this fact I think I was better off doing intentional resets, ie not waiting for it to force me into one (it only went 37hours!!!).
Anyway some people said they went 11days and counting without soft reset so I`m going to try again w/o soft resets and see how long I can go hopefully without SOD as well.
Doing it daily meant I was never forced into one and I liked that.
That problem below could happen, for sure, I experienced once or two before (with MDA Pocket/Magician). But it is not a plaque ...
How many times have you experienced that connectivity issue? Once? Good ... dont worry then!
Me personally, I have never soft-reseted my Kaiser because of SOD.
And I think your problem is obvious, Kaiser has problem with standby when you have data connection/wifi/etc. It must be something related to that one.
I have never put my device on standby while the data connection is still active (It could be just me, but this is also obvious for MOST people).

Frustrating wi-fi reliability issues

My Droid 4 seems to have issues maintaining a wi-fi connection to some networks.
At home, it will connect and work for a while, but eventually stop passing data. It will still show connected, though. It will stay in this state until I turn wi-fi off and back on again.
At work, it often has issues connecting and will show "authentication problem" even though the credentials are correct. With enough trying, it will eventually connect, but won't stay connected.
iPhone, iPads, PCs, Macs and other types of Android phones work OK on these networks.
My old Droid 3 had the same issue.
On some other wi-fi networks, it seems OK.
What gives?
I'm currently a recent build of CM9, but it did the same when it was stock 2.3.6.

Ugh, me too and it was driving me absolutely crazy. I'm on AOKP now (think the build from a few days ago) and it (WiFi) works perfectly now. I know this, because mobile data keeps dropping (argh) but I'm still getting e-mail, etc (but I can't send MMS at least).
Most days I am in solid WiFi coverage, so I am dealing with dodgy mobile data in exchange for stable WiFi. Anybody know if eclipse fixes this issue?
Edit: I'm glad you made this post so I know I am not crazy. Part of the changelog for the 219 update was a WiFi fix, and I was very disappointed when it didn't seem to help...

I've been on Eclipse since it was first ported and I have never had any data issues on 4G/3G or wifi. But I've only connected to 2 or 3 wifi networks so I could just be lucky there. 4G/3G connectivity is perfect.

Yea, I really do have to check Eclipse out. The only thing holding me back is that I'm getting (what I consider) stupid-good battery life with AOKP. Plus, I just did a factory reset on ICS to fix notifications, which means I just set everything back up
Have you spent any time on Wifi using the stock ROM? I'm lucky to get half an hour of Wifi connectivity before it just dies (but still pretends to be connected). No problem with wireless tethering (AOKP or stock). Sometimes I am convinced they don't actually test these things before pushing them out...

I never had any problem with stock either. I would run it on wifi all day at home on a Saturday and never had any drops. I just set up a new router last running dd-wrt so we will see how that goes.
You should definitely check out Eclipse. You lose a few of the ICS goodies but it's totally worth it in my opinion not to have to worry about data dropping out. Battery life has been phenomenal for me on Eclipse. I've been getting through a whole day with 40% - 50% battery left when I finally plug it in a night.
Just backup up your current ROM in safestrap that way, if you don't like Eclipse, you can just restore your backup and your back on AOKP with everything just as you left it!
I've used AOKP for over a week and I don't recall having wifi issues. Which build were you on? I used nightly 29/4. Now I'm back to stock because of BT and Camera. Other than that I had no issues.

I haven't really tweaked it or anything. No undervolting/underclocking or anything like that. I have the 4G toggle installed and switch 4G off when I'm sitting at my desk at work and I'm connected to wifi when I get home in the evening. I don't do anything special other than that. I am still running version 1.3.7 as a couple of people have reported that 1.3.8 broke auto capitalization and not having that would drive me nuts.
Guess I wasn't clear enough. Both on AOKP 29/4 and stock 219 I encountered no WiFi issues. And I use it a lot. I have to because when I switch to 3G for faster internet I loose audio (GSM 3G not working yet). So what I mean to say is, not sure what your problem with WiFi is or where it's coming from. I ran AOKP for at least a week. And I've been running 219 since I got my phone (except for that specific week that is). Not once has WiFi stopped working or glitched for that matter.

CM 11 Albinoman nightlies 21/01/2014 MMS not working

Hello.
I recently dusted off my Australian Velocity after the Nexus 5 went for a swim at the beach. I have S-off, rooted and installed the albinoman ROM.
There are a couple of issues I have noticed so far.
The 4g connection is patchy at best. Not very stable at all but I can live with that.
The battery indicator is acting strangely it stays in 100% for ages but then it starts going down very quickly until it gets to 14% where it stays for a long time but once it gets past that it just goes to full discharge very fast.
I am having the same issue that many other guys and my MMS capabilities are not working. The phone just stays sending or retrying but messages never leave.
Any suggestions about what to do? I have wiped and reinstalled the ROM a few times and it makes no difference.
On the other hand I love the overclocking capabilities makes the phone feel a bit more responsive.
Thanks and keep up the good work

As for the 4G connection, once you've accumulated 10 posts you should mention this in the CM 11 ROM thread and ask if the APN needs to be any different than normal (or if the mod changes the APN). The battery issue should get fixed if you let it fully charge and fully discharge about 3 times. The MMS capabilities is a known issue; try the specific nightlies that albinoman recommended to fix the MMS issue. New nightlies might break previous fixes and stuff.
Same Issue
I'm having the same issue here for AT&T HTC Vivid, none of my MMS were sent, nor have I received any. It's really essential for me cuz of my group, clubs have MMS and inorder for me to get those notifications I need MMS.
Calls are okay, but there are times where there's no sound on the other caller, so to fix that I end call and call again, which fixes it.
One final issue I've been having since Jellybean and Kitkat is the proximity for when calls, it does not respond. So i have to turn on Settings>Accessibility>Power button to end a call, because the phone's screen stays black during call, and 10-30 seconds after call. Camera is okay too, but doesn;t function well in video recording in apps like Snapchat and Instagram.
Overall, it's a great ROM by albinoman, I wish the Sweep2Wake is soon embedded, that's really great and wayyy better than the power button.

Yeah I tried clearing everything. Did a manual reinstall of the APNs using a number of different configs.
Did the wipes ....... did a little dance .... pulled the battery and sim ...... sacrificed a small packet of tofu (no goats, i like goats) The gods of mobility have still not smiled my way.
Wont find networks when i do a search yet am nicely connected, can make calls etc etc.
thanks for trying. If i get no joy will reflash a nightlie and see if it resets?!
Yeah, although wiping the caches didn't do the trick, reflashing a nightly (along with wiping data, cache, and dalvik-cache) should take care of the problem. If you are really attached to your app settings, look into titanium backup for backing up your apps along with their data; it's also the way I save my WiFi passwords.

Hi, tried the dialer solution and no joy.
Installed INtelli3G but it needs the xposed framework which simply won't install. Have tweaked instal options appropriately so it should???

Fixed
Many thanks rignfool
I installed xposed and Intelli3g and with a bit of mucking around now have 4g back!
Seems to work, have 4g 4 bars!
My initial attempts to force lte caused me to have no coverage (I was at work in North SYd so good LTE normally).
Using the "use all" option in Intelli3g, a reboot and swapping around towers was the trick for me.
Thanks again
Mike

WIFI problems with ASD9

Hi,
I have been having problems with wifi connectivity since ASD9. I'm connected to WIFI but chrome will say I'm offline for example and other apps won't see my phone as connected. Switching to 4G sometimes fixes the problem but often doesn't, it will still show as offline. Rebooting helps but that's not very practical. Before trying a factory reset I figured I'd share this here and see if anyone had the issue and found a fix that's less intrusive.
I have the same problem which is annoying. I found out that switching airplane mode on and off helps. Is there anyone else with same problem and updated to may patch? I wonder if its fixed.

None of those. I'm not rooted, no private DNS, purely stock software and no customizations. My 6T does not have this problem and this really started with the latest update. I have the same problem at work on the cafe wifi.
My wife and I are having wifi issues as well with certain apps. Tested my speed and was running 170 - 180 Mbps.
I was downloading files from my home server onto the phone this morning via WIFI and noticed it was rather slow. I was 20 feet away from my WIFI router tops (line of sight) and the phone was connected at 144Mbps. It usually is at 1054Mbps when I'm that close and only drops when I change floors.
I'm hoping this gets fixed quickly. I'm with Telus so unless they push an update, I don't really have options. I still have access to a Note 9, maybe I'll try a side by side comparison this week.
I'm hoping for a fix soon because not only does WIFI give me problems but battery doesn't seem to last as long as before.
I have problem with ASD9 on my at&t s10 plus. Just wondering about adding new ar emoji editor does work 4 u?

Im getting a fair bit of phoning home to China, EU/UK rom

So ok first off, i really do love this phone. I got it for the camera and for content creation and its great for it...
I had a Redmi note 4 before, and for a couple of years Ive been using a firewall since reading about a lot of chinese phones sending large amounts of data to china.
Now yes my old phone did phone home A LOT. So thats why i installed noroot firewall to keep an eye on things.
And literally every service phoned home. Many services that have no right connecting to the internet.
Now come 10t, i read that because this is an offical EU phone with EU rom and not a grey import, it should be following all the EU rules on data collection... So basically turn everything off it shouldnt contact home.
Trouble is..... even though I have turned most of the things off (outside updating service) many of the apps still phone home... Analytics, MSA DOWNLOADs, file explorer, mi remote, compass, clock security.... and other framework services. All phoning home to servers in china.
Ive not really done a deep dive into exactly what service is sending what data. But Why would downloads connect to a chinese IP every time i download something off the app store.... Or open Chrome?
Well using firewall now to keep things locked down.
Has anyone else seen this kind of activity on EU phones? Is anyone making a clean rom that remove this kind of sus activity?
That's what you have to deal with if you want to use MIUI.
Why not root the phone and flash Lineage?

Yes everything is working except DT2W.
There is minor bugs that will be fixed.
It's very stable.

Some 5ghz wifi bands aren't working
Auto rotate doesn't work
Bluetooth connection to audio devices fails after a call
Screen doesn't wake up when someone calls in like 90% of calls
Lineage Recovery bootloops
And yes dt2w doesn't work. Those are not minor bugs...

Don't know about 5ghz, I haven't have any issues with 5ghz. It's fixed in the latest version? At least it says so in the notes.
Auto rotation works fine for me. Have't noticed the issue with screen not waking up during incoming calls but I rarely receive or make calls.
I only used my bluetooth in ear for listening to music, not for calls but I se someone wrote it can be fixed by lowering volume a bit.
Lineage recovery bootloops if you flash it to recovery but if you fastboot boot the img it will boot fine every time.

That's all workarounds, that's why I say these are not minor bugs. I had all of those problems. I had 5ghz problem because my wifi router was set to a channel lineage couldn't read. Lowering volume, and turning bluetooth on/off couldn't fix it for me, only restart worked. Auto rotation and blank screen during calls were also my problems. Well to end offtopic, I'll wait for stable pe or similar rom before switching from global rom. I have pihole set up as blocking firewall at home so it helps a ton with phoning home...
ive also tried using noroot firewall, which worked fine on my old phone. but no matter the battery saver settings, it keeps getting shut down by the phone... So thats not secure.

Did you try to turn off MIUI OPTIMIZATION in Developer option?
Developer options? I can't find that...
Ahh found them... Had to enable them first... Been a while forgot about that.
