[Q] Angry Birds

Has anyone had Angry birds working on their G1 yet?
Ive managed to install it on my g1 when running a 1.6 rom but it just force closes whenever i try to run it.
Ive also tried it on Cm6 Rc3 but that wont even allow the game to install!
Any advice would be appreciated, i love the game and want to see if it works on the g1.
The website states it is compatible with android 1.6 and above.

yeah same here, fc after the splash screen. im using CM6 with apps2ext.

I got this from another Forum - AndroidTalk I think. Keep pressing randomly on the screen while it shows the splash screen. Try it multiple times. Also you can try just running your finger all over the splash screen until the game loads. It work sometimes and sometimes it doesn't, I think it needs a touch at an exact point in time for it to work.
Also, try enabling JIT, as that seemed to have favoured the odds of it opening.

on Cm6 it just says "application not installed" no matter how many times i try to install it or how much i mess with the touch screen.
On the 1.6 rom it installs but just gives me a force close every time i open the app!
This sucks!

Hold the phone in portrait mode until the game starts.
Tap every now and then on the screen to keep it live
I used SetCPU to 'performance' mode, to make the game run smooth
works almost perfectly. Lags here and there but other than that, quite well
Also restarting the phone before playing helps

That's what is working for me...just random taps and swypes. Its weird, sometimes it works and others it don't. But it needs more levels. Lvl 4 is probably the hardest for me.

I cant get it to install on CM6 Rc3, it just keeps saying "not installed", its doing my head in!
I wish i had those force close problems your having, at least then it would have installed at least!

Upgrade to 6 stable and see if it installs

It works well on my htc magic 32b with (superfroyo 6.1)...

When I load it all I get is audio. Screen is black. Would love to play
it on my G1. Running Cyan's last 1.6 rom.

sparks mod g1 2.2.1 display issue
my phone loads and plays the game fine, other than lagging somtimes when the ad comes up. The only wierd thing is that it doesnt display all of the things on the screen. I have a lot of blank areas that are actually structures. When I look at the same level on my friends nexus 1 he has the structures visible. Any ideas? oh i have reinstalled the game thinking that would fix it but it didnt

go to getjar or androidandme.com, than click angry birds under most popular games and than download. It works fine on my fender mytouch on cyanogenmod latest nightly. i got jit on 10% compcache and 16 vm heap. also runs no lags when over clocked to 652 Mhz.

Hmm ive got the same setup and i have lag, like some lvls are fine then others are just horrible.

thats crazy, but every phone is different, also new version has background and effects but way more lag. but hey its free

Create this as 'angrybirds.sh'. Run from terminal as root, adb shell, or using gscript. It flips the permission on part of the 3d system. (thanks ezTerry!) It makes AB run much smoother, and returns permission to original state when AB exits.
The initial startup screen will be messed up. Lock the screen, then unlock to get past that point.

Wow thanks. Night and dsy, and totally lag free

Here is how to get it as an icon with script wrapper...
1) Install Gscript.apk
2) Create folder /sdcard/gscript
3) Save angrybirds.sh.txt as /sdcard/gscript/angrybirds.sh (remove .txt)
4) Delete any existing angry bird shortcut from desktops
5) Run Gscript, hit MENU, Add Script, Load File button, pick "angrybirds.sh" (if it doesnt show up in list, you didnt put it in correct folder, repeat step 2&3)
6) Make sure "Needs SU" is checked, then click Save
7) Hit HOME button, long press desktop, pick Shortcut, Gscript, "angrybirds"
BOOM, you now have an icon that will run angry birds from the script.
Remember!!! When you start the game, you will get a black/messed up screen... You have to hit END to lock phone, then unlock phone for game to come up. (sometime you may have to lock/unlock a couple times)

Gun Bros works now (2/23/11)

For those interested, the new update to Gun Bros (listed as making the game work on the Xoom) also makes it work on the G-tablet. Plays great, pretty fun game.

This is awesome. I had a sneaking suspecion when the Xoom dropped a lot more Apps would start working.

Had the same problems...intermittent lockups/freezes/sound cutting out glitches. Running TnT Lite 4.2.4.

I haven't encountered any lockups. TnT Lite 4.2.4. However, I haven't played that much. After reading this, I went through wave 1 to wave 7, no issues. Died at 7, but I'm not very good at the game. EDIT: Nope. I left it running for a bit and then tried to play. It froze at the menu to select which planet I wanted to attack (I guess?). Had to power cycle the tablet.
Is that where it's crashing for everyone else? Or is it crashing in the game proper, ie while you're shootin' stuff?

Yeah. I haven't had a crash mid game. Only menu locks.

Ive been playing it on and off running Vegan. Its a little crash happy, rebooting my tab but when its running, its awesome. Looks great on a tablet.

May need to run Market Enabler. However, I'd recommend you just ditch stock and go with TNT Lite 4.2.4, since that includes the Market Enabler change. I was one of the slow ones to do so, but I don't miss the TNT stuff at all anymore.

I saw Gun Bros in my market (running TNT Lite) way back in January when they were first releasing the betas. The first release ran fine on my g-tablet, and then a subsequent update saw it disappear from the store and crash to home on my G-Tablet.
Tried uninstalling and reinstalling with no luck and had given up.
I am now running TNT Lite 4.2.4, and I still don't see Gun Bros on the market. I also see Angry Birds Seasons, but no Angry Birds (original)?
EDIT - I decided to reclear Google Services Framework (wipe data) and power down. Powered back up, and made me agree to Google store agreement. Now Angry Birds and Gun Bros show up.

dual-touch issues
i've actually oddly been having dual-touch issues with this game. it doesnt seem to want to properly register that i'm using two thumbs... it does, but oddly... it will stay stuck in one direction while i'm shooting with the other thumbs, even if i attempt to change the direction i'm running in.

Yeah I have same multitouch issue. They need to enable physical and touch controls (like tank hero does.)

Same here - very annoying since besides that I have had 0 problems with the game.

+1 for the game locking up in the menu and causing my g tab to reboot.... which sucks 'cause this game is pretty fun.

Does anyone have this game working on Vegan Ginger Edition RC1? I can get it to load but when it gets to selecting the board I cannot get farther than that.

[Q] Multitouch and Flash?

I was just browsing some files using Root Explorer to see what we might be able to do to get Multitouch working on the ZIO. In /system/etc/permissions directory I found a file called handheld_core_hardware.xml that when I open it up has information about permissions of the device hardware and then says this.

I've also found the applications currently installed on the phone in the /system/app directory that has every app on the phone, Maybe we can inject some files from another phone that have Multitouch and Flash working?
I know I'm not the only one that is currently scanning this phone for things that we can "exploit" to make it better. If anyone else can think of what we can do to get Multitouch and Flash to work go ahead and give us your input and we'll get this going.

don think flash will work nativaly becase it requires a arm7 proc and I think the Zio is an ARm6 based proc..... you can get flash running through skyfire browser from what I understand though...

I am determined to make this phone work better than CricKet is willing to make it work. I know it's not a high end device but cmon my old pentium 3 gateway that had a 600mhz processor could run flash. There has to be a way that we can spoof the processor to install flash if it only allows the arm7 or higher.
I dont know if you have Root Explorer but I would reccomend it for browsing the files on the phone. I would say it is worth the 4.03 USD or 2.50 EUR. That and Uninstaller for Root to remove the bloatware.

Multitouch could be a hardware issue as well. I know the zio has a substandard capacitive touchscreen -- maybe it doesnt support multitouch.
BUT, I could be completely wrong as I am making a hypothetical assumption.

Got it to install just fine on mine too, but it causes my stock browser to FC all the time, even when just trying to type in a web address. I will have to try this with another browser.

Kyocera originally stated when the phone launched that it supported multi touch. This phone is going to have to suppport multi touch in some way or another. Maybe we could contact Kyocera to find out exactly what hardware is in this phone?

Try using Dolphin Browser. I use HD because it goes full screen.

hmm thats odd. I'll have to try this once I get my phone working again. I was messing with some cpu files then restarted my phone. well now I'm in a loop after the Kyocera logo. The cricket logo comes up and restarts from the cricket logo again. I'm currently working on getting it working again with adb and fastboot. I may end up using fastboot to flash the boot image and then run the update, it will then take me into the recovery just like it did the other day.

Check the market under productivity you should find the free equivalent.
I was able to install flash but... FC on all browsers except opera mini. I had to uninstall just to use the free xda apparently because it kept restarting. Flash isn't too huge of a deal for me, I think it might be why flash isn't included in the update

Anyone have any problems with Appbrain.
I noticed with appbrain it doesn't reconize that I have the 2.2 installed on my phone. Anyone else having the same problem? I also posted a few questions on here about a few things I noticed my phone doing but never got a response back. Guess they weren't important questions or something.
Also was wondering about SELECT DEVICE ADMINISTRATORS in the settings/location & security. What is it and why is it empty if i'm the admin of my own phone???

Something else I feel really sucks that they did with this phone.
Why the hell did Kyocera have this phone where when you set a wallpaper you always have to crop the dam thing and cut half your pic off just to set it??
I think its bull**** concidering the resolution of the phone there would be no need to limit the size of the wallpaper you set. I feel it sucks ass totally cause no matter what size I make my wallpapers I always have to cut half the pic off to set it as a wallpaper on the phone.
That little resize box sucks!! Now it may be an app I have installed on the phone but i'm having the same BS problem when typing txt messages with the keyboard missing letters and the latter just the same as if i still had the 1.6 crap on it.
I'm starting to hate this stinking phone to a point i'm about to take my hammer to it.

I had the same problem. Anything I opened once I installed the flash just FC on me till i uninstalled it. I just installed Opera brower and i'm re-installing the Flash now, i'll reply back with what I get after its all done.
Well I installed Opera browser, Re-installed Flash player and Rebooted my phone. Once running I when to adobe.com to test the flash and in the content window it states: To view this experience, you need JavaScript enabled and the latest adobe flash player installed

I have opera and it works with flash installed. I haven't really seen flash working since installation. Tried using opera to go to YouTube but it opened the app rather than embedding in the browser.

I give up. about to for the 5th time now completely reset my phone, format my SD card, and redue the entire phone from scratch.
With flashed installed I can't even goto appbrain app market without the never ending FC happening just as Appbrain begins to load. This sucks! I really don't want to spend half the day again reinstalling all my crap back to this phone. Its been a headache sence day 1 I had it till now. Seemed to run just fine leaving the thing alone aside trying to figure out what bloatware crap other then the 2 lousy games that comes with the phone.

By the way. The bloatware is mobile web, mybackup, uno, my account, storefront, midnight bowling, ziotop10apps, and you can remove home screen tips

I really don't remember Kyocera saying it was multitouch. I do remember some reviews of the phone saying that it was, but those are not associated with Kyocera, those are just some guys online giving their two cents on their blogs and websites.
On the actual Kyocera Zio website,for the Spring version with Froyo on it it states:

It does not mention multitouch

[Q] Firefox 4

Anyone have a working firefox apk for autonooter. I tried to install an apk i found but it didn't install and actually created an issue with my Application pop up screen.

not answering to your question but i tryed FF4 on nookie froyo and it's not very good.. Keep Opera mobile if you can use it, or Miren browser if opera is not 2.1 compatible..

I just want to install it to hopefully fix the bug that is occuring when I scroll on the app screen. It kicks me out everytime to home.

I found Firefox 4 mobile to be very buggy still. The sync doesn't really work, you can't get onto sites with a username and password, and it's slow. They did do an update in the last few days though, so maybe things got a bit better.

I've been messing around with it, firefox 4, for a couple hours today. I've had no issues with the sync option, I actually really like it. being able to sync my laptop's tabs to the nook is a worthwhile feature IMO. however, I really like dolphin HD. Enough so, that I doubt I'll switch.

Why haven't you tried the android market? They have a working one available, and yes opera seems better for the nook color!

SI Tablet App

Does anyone have the Sports Illustrated tablet app working on their Xoom? Whenever I try and d/l an issue it forces a close and shuts down. There are several comments in the market saying it works but I'm not sure what tablet they are using. All the press releases list the Xoom as one of the devices but no dice....The phone version definitely doesn't work the tablet app starts fine but cant read anything and it is frustrating me, SI hasn't released an update since April...

yea it worked on my 3g xoom only in portrait tho...I didn't like it so i uninstalled it...but I downloaded and viewed the magazine just fine

if you are ever board can you d/l it again from the market and see if it still works?

I just tried it on my Xoom and it installed fine and opened just fine. Then it wanted me to sign up for an account and I backed out. Like others have said if I want to read SI I will simply download the magazine and read it. No need for the tablet application.
