[Q] Help: SIM Contacts? - HD7 General

Hi all,
I moved from HD to HD7 a day ago and its going pretty well however,
am having problem finding my sim contact as it seems the only way to get my contacts from my old HD to the new one and now I can't find any SIM manager on HD7!
Any advice? please

you can upload your contacts to a gmail or hotmail acct through activesync on your hd, then sync that acct with your new phone.

You know I have never used this activesync you speak of but I will give it a go when I get home
One thing I realized is you can't do much customization on HD7, awaiting January "Big" (hopefully) update.
Thanks for the speedy response

the easiest way is:
1- go to settings.
2- go left to applications.
3- then people.
4- tap Import SIM Contacts.
: )

Wallah I checked this people tap a number of times but never noticed the import sim option.
Thanks Saud for your help. am OK now

Still needs a SIM manager though. What if I want to put contacts onto the card so I can use it with another phone?

Importing Sim contacts, HOW?

The 'import the sim contacts' option is greyed out. How do i set this up?
All my contacts are saved to my sim.
i know its driving me insane? does any one know how to transfer contacts from HTC HD2 to windows phone 7????
Unfortunately it's not simple. This is how I did it...
I synced my HD2 phone with Outlook, then downloaded the Hotmail Outlook Connector which allowed me to sign into my Windows Live Hotmail account through Outlook then Outlook shows me two accounts - my old ActiveSync Local account and my Windows Live Hotmail account and it's just then a simple case of clicking and dragging from one to the other. The Windows Phone 7 will then just sync the changes automatically from your Windows Live account.
Hope this helps.

Sorry, don't know the answer to that one, have tried looking though. The only way I can see at the moment is to connect it to a router then look through in the router's control panel for the MAC address of devices connected to it and work from there...
Isn't there no easier way importing sim contacts over?
just threw a sim in my desire and moved some contacts to it, I then put into my HD7, went to Settings / Applications / People the Import sim contacts was now usable and imported the contacts.
Not sure What's happening for you guys, the button should only be grey out if
a) Contacts are in the process of being copied
b) there are no contacts on the sim.

[Q] PARAGON 5.1, Double contacts in messaging...

So my issue is that when i go to messaging and compose new, then select contact it displays double info... and it looks identical(no sim symbl). Have already checked my contact display options. Everything is cool if i just go to contact app... it displays only one set of contacts, the one saved to phone. Can someone please help?
Had the same problem with Stock 2.1
I had this same problem when I first got my phone in November. It was because the contacts were on my sim card and saved to my phone. The display contact info is only for when you are in contacts i think. If you have all of your contacts on your phone I wwould delete them from your sim card or vise versa. Personally I sync everything with google that way I don't have to worry about them being on my phone at all.

my contacts were synced with AT&T Address Book, though
but cyanogenmod, or i guess any custom ROM for that matter, does not have the option to sync with att address book.
please help me get the contacts back without having to go back to stock
i am desperate right now
maybe replacing the contacts apk with the stock one works?

Can you get them by logging into your account on AT&T's web site? If so, you might be able to export them as a CSV and then import them into your phone or another contacts manager.

[Q] How to solve the problem of People contacts in NextGen v3.2

Hi everyone
I really appreciate so much if anyone could help me solve this problem. I recently have flashed the rom Nextgen v3.2 on my HTC HD7, after that I realized a little bug with this rom. It's about the People contacts, whenever I receive a phone call or any text message, my cellphone just displays the name that I have saved in the sim card, although I did untick the Sim Item in Filter contact list. Because the names which I saved in the sim card are so short and simple so I am too difficult to know who calling me or sending me message, I just want it to display the names in window live contacts. Anyone can help me fix this problem?
resync the contacts again...i had the same problem...i resync it and den no more problems

once you sync your SIM contacts into your phone they will be updated on your windows live account.....login into your windows live account on your desktop and you have to first delete the sim contacts from your live id...odor else everytime you sync your live account on your phone the sim contacts just pop back up....
So delete those on your account and sync your contacts

Thank for your help. Finally I fixed it already. I deleted all the contacts in Window live, after that I export contacts from the Simcard to Window Live, and resync from Window Live to my phone. Finally, the problem was done.
Thank you one more time for your help.
Happy to help

[Q] How to import contacts, sms with no cloud

Im desperate, i already spent two days to find a way how to import contacts to my lumia 520 with WP8 without using any cloud service like live, hotmail, google, etc. I had a diamond 2 with WM 6.5. I got my screen broken, only what i was able to do - syncing contacts with my computer. Now i have all the contacts in outlook, but i find no way how to import contacts to WP8 with no cloud. Pls. help. If there is a way how to import sms - ill be most happy man on that month
If you have WM 6.5 you can save/export contacts to vCard (*.vcf format) and copy to SD card. Next, you have to install Transfer my data and via this app you can import contacts from SD card.
With this aplication you can too transfer your contacts via bluetooth from your old phone.

I have no access to my old phone anymore. With broken display i have only outlook to be used as a source. Anyway, Transfer My Data app is working with bluetooth, no possibility to access SD card, which is in my case not a solution. Thanks for you effort.

Ok, here is the idea - is it possible to save VCF file to SD card on my laptop and use the laptop as source "mobile phone" via the application? On my laptop i have W7.
Im really getting angry on Microsoft. They always have to screw it up - they are so desperate for our private data.

Export your contacts from Outlook as a CSV. Then you can use Yahoo or Hotmail to import the CSV file. If it has the option to select CSV from Outlook make sure to use that option. It makes a difference if they specify. Whichever account you use you may want to clean your contact list because they will all be mixed in together. What I did was created a second Hotmail account and used that as my WP8 ID and for all of my MS Live account access. Imported my CSV file to that Hotmail account, then setup that Hotmail account on the phone contact list and everything imported in a few minutes. Hope it works for you as well as for me. I really prefer to use ATT address book but it wont work on my unlocked unbraded 520. If you can get ATT address book to work then that is by far an easier way. Login to https://addressbook.att.net/ and setup your account. I'm making the assumption that you have ATT as your provider. Once logged in and setup, import the CSV file there. Then open ATT address book app on your phone. Also set it up as your contact list in settings.
One other possible option: WP can import contacts from the SIM. SIM cards tend to only be able to store a really small number of contacts at once, so it may take several rounds of storing and importing, but it's a think you could try. If your old phone isn't currently usable for this, you could try having it done at a carrier store; they usually have the tools.
By the way, if you're so paranoid about privacy that you don't want MS to even know who is in your contacts list and/or you don't trust their privacy policies, I'm not sure that any modern smartphone is really going to work for you. A completely rooted Android phone with a modified, custom-built ROM, perhaps? All the major smartphone OS vendors use "cloud" synching for things like contacts.
Thanks for help
all of you guys. At the end i spent yesterday 3 hours to manually do that. I export all the contacts and sent them as vcf. Then i received e-mail to my Lumia 520, and one after one - it takes 4 clicks for one contact - added to my contact list. I had like 580 contacts - at least, after few years i delete some of them
Once again - BIG THANKS for your effort!!
Now the second part of the question - as im going to order new digitizer for my loved diamond 2 - how to export/import sms from WM6.5 to WP8 with no cloud?
