I've tried a couple of different Twitter apps (the native Twitter, Inc. app and Tweetdeck) but none have installed. Has anyone found an app for Twitter that will install on the G? Thanks in advance!
EDIT: Looks like Tweetcaster will install. Sorry. OP can delete.
I'm using TweetCaster, but sometimes I miss TweetDeck.

I have TweetDeck installed right now, I have not used it yet I just installed it but ill post screenshots soon.
I've been using Tweetdeck for a while, on TNTLite. No problems with it.
I just installed the twitter official app from twitter inc and it works just fine on my tab tnt 2.2
Hmm. Weird. I'll check their site.
I'm using Touiteur
Frankly I love it. Widget (in the pay version) and a really nice interface. Integrates with bit.ly for url compression twitpic etc.
I was able to get Tweetdeck, but only after flashing TnT Lite. I haven't used Touiteur in a year or so. Perhaps it's time to check it out again.
Twidroyd
I have been using Twidroyd. It works great, in fact the LiveView mode actually works better on the gtab than it does on the Droid X.
TweetDeck works on VEGAn.

So far none are to my liking or really made for tablet. Tweetdeck on VEGAn 5.1 is most feature rich but not best experience. Tweetcaster is best experience but lacks features.
Wish I had some l337 codding for android skills, damn career choices.

Hey Guys
Running Vegantab-B5.1 and tried using the xda app from marketplace to browse the xda forum but i find shortly after i log in that it crashes on me. Does anyone else have teh same issue?
BAM
App does not work on tablet!
Two alternatives, DolphinHD browser gives a nice experiance, and tapatalk works well if you really want an app.
I have the same problem. Thanks for the tip about Tapatalk - I will check it out.
I also have the same problem on my Droid. I find dolphin HD the best experience. Not crazy about tapatalk.
Yeah I think we're all in the same boat regarding the XDA app, I agree with both suggestions above, Dolphin HD and Tapatalk Pro are great alternatives. Tapatalk is fast and minimalist in it's appearance (but plenty of features), where as Dolphin HD gives you a near desktop experience, just depends on what you prefer.

I miss the XDA app. I got so used to using it on my HTC Magic. Hoping for a fix at some point.
Edit: the premium xda app doesn't crash as often. Still can't log in but it is a very minimalist and add free way of viewing xda. Been using it lately to read very long threads and older threads I just want to digest and not respond to.
Same here force close when trying to login - vegan 7 exp
Yep, force closed on Tnt 4.04 and Vegan 5.1.1.
Force closes on Stock ROM as well
XDA app is based on Tapatalk. I got annoyed with the FCs and went with Tapatalk. The experience and UI is mostly the same, just a few more taps to get to what you want once you've set up your favorites.

Same here. VEGAn 5.1.1, FC on login. I was rather disappointed.
Its a known bug and I'm not sure there are plans to fix it. You know though, we do have full internet on these bad boys. I prefer that over the app. The app is perfect for my phone with it's small screen. With 10 inches the real thing is better.
Looking for suggestions on a good Twitter app for Honeycomb.
Currently I'm using Plume and I like it a lot but it's not optimized and has it's share of things that prove that.
Wondering what others are using. I dont look at facebook on it so no need for tweetdeck or hootsuite really. Tried them both and meh.
Usually these apps are all over the place and I'm wondering if anyone has found one that is made for tablets yet.
Thanks in advance.
I actually think the official Twitter app works quiet well on the XOOM. The last few improvements they made in the recent update made it so much easier to use (even on my Droid, and I used to loathe using it on my phone before the update.)
I would love it if they updated the official app for HC so that it looked more like the 'New Twitter' on the desktop.
I like Plume myself. Great app and nice widget.

TweetDeck works quite well for me. It's not optimized but still works quite decently.
I came here tonight with the intenion of askmg the same question. I've been using Tweetdeck, but really want something optimized for tablets and/or Honeycomb...
Guess I'm not the only one.
My Xoom sent this...
I like twicca a lot. It's not optimized but you can make the font pretty large. Tons of customizing options

sad, but twitter seems to be attempting to stiffle the use of alternative apps for accessing the service.
i like plume, and have been in contact with dev about a honeycomb update, but i worry for the future of twitter apps as a a whole due to twitter's new attitude regarding them.
(i get that they need to monetize, whish there was a way they could do so without screwing 3rd party devs that made the twitter a lot of what it is today)
Just wanted to let everyone knows that beejive just got updated to work on honeycomb

sweet thanks for the info!

Hmmm...still doesn't show up in the market?anybody able to download it?
Sent from my Xoom using Tapatalk
It appears on the market if you enter via webpage or at Beejive's site (where you can download a trial). http://www.beejive.com/android
I tried the trial from beejive web, but it seems not honeycomb optimized..
I got the same feeling but I went to look at the version and it's the latest one. The same that on market says it's optimized...
awesome ;-) Going to pick it up now -- seems HC is finally getting to get some apps to work properly
OK...just downloaded the trial...where is the settings button? Lol...or am I missing something?

Pandora did the same thing. They finally optimized it for HC but they missed the menu button on the buttom. Few days later, a update rolled around. I am sure this is the case since beejive is running properly.
Give it a bit...Im sure they will update -- Or if you want to be sure, contact their support ;-)
Kinda found out something...
The BeejiveForFacebook (which is free) also has been updated. So I tried downloading it as a test and it says something like "download canceled, your device is not compatible". So apparently they added support for HC but not for Xoom! GREAT JOB Beejiveians!!!

That doesn't make any sense my friend. :x
That's like saying "They added support for microsoft office for windows 7, but not for dell machines"...
Like I said, just give them time.
I understand what you are saying, I just wrote what appeared in my Xoom. Probably Beejive does not support HC 3.0.1 just 3.0...
Probably stick with trillian on my xoom since it works well till they polish up more on beejive lol

when i saw this i originally got all excited but then i looked in the market and its still not there. Then I went to their website and downloaded the demo and it is no way optimized for honeycomb. So now its back to using trillian while I wait for a proper "optimized for honeycomb" version of my favorite
mesenger hits the market.

Just giving you guys a heads up. Beejive updated today which added HC 3.1 support in the market. Runs perfectly. Menu appears and all...
Enjoy!
For anyone using one of the Honeycomb ROMs, there is a really nice Facebook app called "Friend Me". Nice layout, solid build (though it is beta and has a couple of minor bus).
I've been using it a few weeks and it's great. Unfortunately, I haven't posted enough here to add an outside link, so if someone would be so kind...
Sure.... sharing this should help others... but I'm going one step ahead and sharing some more social apps for Honeycomb...
Honeycomb optimized Facebook apps:
Friend Me for Facebook by Locomo Labs
FriendCaster Tab for Facebook by OneLouder Apps
Honeycomb optimized Twitter apps:
TweetComb by Locomo Labs
TweetCaster (Twitter) HD Beta by OneLouder Apps
Plume for Twitter by LevelUp Studio
I have a problem with those apps and Andoid Illuminate for HC as I posted in the Illuminate thread:
Yeah I was right in my suspicions, it's because the Android build for the gtab has problems with hardware acceleration and the browser, I've attached a modified .apk which fixes the issue.

I'm using GTabComb 3.3 and it works fine on mine.
I tried FriendCaster but found it slower than Friend Me, but it's a nice app.
I also use TweetComb, but I'll have to try the others.

Honestly both Friendcaster and FriendMe suck. Yes the tablet UI layout is great, but functionally you're better off with the official Facebook app or just using the web, since both FriendME and Friendcaster are only good for VIEWING facebook content.
The minute you try to hit a "reply" button to actually communicate to your friends, it opens a web window with the facebook mobile site. Super lame.
Hey guys,
I just install the CM9 rom and I need basic apps like facebook for tablets (that fit well on the screen).
because I downloaded the facebook app and what I see in the central wall is a status with little words and a huge pictures.
same question here, the facebook app is terrible for GT 2
Use friendcaster pro for facebook

thanks, I will try the free version, looks good
The Facebook app for Gtab 2 7 sucks. I wish Facebook would just release a version that is optimized for Tablets.. Until then I just use my broswer to view the desktop version for Facebook.
friendcaster is very very very good app for facebook
+1 for Flipboard! I don't generally like the idea of a "newsreader", but this one is awesome! It actually can be connected up to Facebook and Twitter, is very easy to set up, and does a really nice job of aggregating news stories and formatting them so they look really nice on the 7" screen.
The first thing I always install is SwiftKey 3, which is pretty much my favorite Android keyboard app. There's a free version available for trial. For the GT2 7.0 you'll want to use the Tablet version (which is what I linked to).
