[Q] Djvu on Nook Color? - Nook Color General

Hello all,
I'm looking to get a Nook Color next weekend, and I was wondering if anyone has tried to read djvu files on the Nook?
I don't have any Android devices right now, so I'm not sure how well vudroid works for djvu, or how well it works on the NC?
Any comments / alternative programs would be much appreciated! In particular, I have a number of math textbooks that are provided free of charge to the university, and some of them are djvu files.
Thanks

I got vudroid installed fine on my NC. I tried some random djvu file I found and it didn't work. If you post your files I can test and confirm for you.

I picked a random one (well, the smallest djvu file I have) and uploaded it as a RAR.
The file should be OCR'd as well, so if you could let me know how that works, that would be great.
And on a similar vein, I assume you've been using vudroid for PDF? Does it work well for that? Can you read PDFs in landscape mode?
Sorry for all the questions. I'm a very excited newbie to the world of NC :-D

I opened up the file and everything seems to work fine. I'm not sure what you mean by OCR'd but if you mean selectable/searchable text that is not the case. As far as PDF's go I use DocsToGo and it works great. Here are some screenshots of vudroid on the NC. You can zoom in quite close and the text is very clear.

Thank you so much for the help! This definitely confirms my suspicions that the NC is going to be an awesome device for academic reading as well

On the homepage and in the article there are videos to see how it works. If this method works flawlessly it will definitely improve the writing speed a lot. Looks very promising from my point of view. I subscribted the newsletter to get a notice when this will be available (soon as the developers said).
I subscripted myself to test the beta! So i'm curieus to the result.
Subscripted also
Subscripte also. The app looks verry promising. Can not wait to use it.
signed up as well. looks like an interesting concept, especially on the diamond.
Repeated Thread?
wow looks awesome...
looks really interesting, if it really works that well that would be a revolution.

The symbols page is too small. Other than that - not too bad.
Unfortunately we'll probably never get to use it due to their business model of now downloading of it, it's just baked into the carrier ROM's. Kind of dumb in my opinion, but maybe someone here can make a cab file from it.

BLS Drug Profiles

Hey, I was bored so I figured I would code this app and throw it on the Android marketplace. It as all of the BLS Drug Profiles based off the Arizona Department of Health.
Before I throw it onto the market I figured I would ask what you guys think of the GUI. Do you guys like the way it looks? Or should I change it, what do you think I should do to make it better? Also keep in mind this is my first app.

Looks interesting. What I can see looks pretty good but you should post the apk so we can install and really check it out for ya.
This is a sorely needed app!
Thanks.
I wouldn't use blue for the text color though.
In bright lights or outdoors, that is gonna be very difficult to read.
Since this app could possibly be needed in an emergency situation, it's vital for everything to be able to be seen without any fuss or confusion.
Make it high contrast ... white text on black.
As for the overall ui, it's perfectly fine other than that. This isn't an app where asthestics are important. It's not something people will be glaring at for hours on end. It's utilitarian, it's reference. And keeping it simple is exactly what's needed.
One thing I might add at some point is a link to Wikipedia if there is one (at least I don't see it from the screenshots). Or if the material you're using for reference has other online references available to the general public, that's fine too. Especially something with links to pictures to help identify pills/capsules etc. That's just an idea.
Great job.
And if you're needing a beta tester, please let me know.
Thanks.

Ok, I will experiment with the color of the text I suppose. I can also ad a link to the Arizona Health Department Bureau of EMS. I also have a disclaimer to add, and it should be ready
Sorry for the double post, just wanted to let everyone know that I posted this on the market

5-copy the file that you've downloaded into “system/app” (overwrite it)
6-restart the phone and set your live wallpaper
thanks!
... is not at least 10 characters.
Works great! Although I'd prefer a bit more quality on the background. I figured it should have been better being a direct pull from the Nexus S.
Anywho, I sorta remade the static background of it last night pretty quickly on my laptop with no mouse since I dig the design. Maybe those of you with the Nexus Revamped Pro edition may want to use it with a custom background so it looks a bit better.
Thanks for this. New look for today.

It's not a direct pull from the Nexus S. This is just a look alike made by the3dguy. The real one will look nicer when we get it.
Ahhh I stand corrected. Only one more day I suppose
Found this in yet another system dump people are doing. Still doesn't look that crisp.

[BOOT ANIMATION] Bug Droid

This animation was originally created by DTSPowaa http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ewdmNxwZGk
I just took the video and turned it into a boot animation.
I am not responsible for your impatience to read on how to properly set up a boot animation. So if something happens, your fault.
This is setup for 480x800 screens. If yours is different you can edit the DESC.txt to fit your screen.

After putting this in your /system/media or data/local (depending on your rom) folder, set permissions like this:
DOWNLOAD
Non Flashable
Flashable (Will not flash on 2.3.4 or higher, use the non-flashable and push, also flashes to /system/media)
Very cool! I'm gonna install it, thanks!
Any chance you'd like to make another one? There's this "Droid-Nom" video on Youtube (unfortunately I can't post the link being a new user), but you can check it by searching, there's only one, can't miss it. Very cool as well, imo.
That is pretty neat. I'll message him and see if I can get permission to use it. Thanks.

Hopefully he won't have a problem, please keep us posted.
I have permission to build it. I have portrait and landscape versions going. Just need to do a mass rename of almost 300 images for each version, and then it will be posted up. I can finish them after work tonight, so around 6 am EST.
Also going to re-build this to have sound along with the next one.
Whoa, that was fast, you're the man! That's a ton of images, though, didn't realize it would be that many. I personally would be interested in the landscape version as it's going on my tablet. Having sound would be great, can't miss that droid burp . Thanks a bunch for doing this!
Hey, are still going thru with this or did you change your mind?
Sorry. Got really busy this week getting a car up for sale.

No problem, just wanted to double check, before may be trying to do this myself. I've just never done anything like this before, so I know it would take me forever to figure everything out.

any free note program better than the existing note on 8.9?

are there any free note/word document program on android market? if yes, what are their name? the reason i'm asking it, the existing note program on samsung sux. it only holds up to 1500/characters per document. thx in advance.
I highly recommend Evernote their tablet interface is really nice, you can sync notes between devices, save images, audio and rich text notes. The downside is that you have to register to their site and the free account has a transfer limit of 60MB/month.
But so far, I've really liked it and been using it extensively in my phone and tablet.

If you are like me, and like to be able to jot down something in handwritten text, I recommend Quill. Either buy on Play Store or download the same version from Google Code for free at this address:

Put it on your tab.
On tab,
change settings "install from other sources than Google market" = true
Use a file explorer, find the apk. Click to open, will install
Or Google the subject "sideload apk"
