Silent Boot (check market) does the trick sufficiently by switching your phone to silent when you do a shutdown (not sure about soft reboot) and then turning silent off again (if it wasn't before the shutdown) after the next boot.
if you have system overlay go to /system/media with Rootexplorer and delete "android_audio.mp3"
or you can build a package for remove this sound and install with fake flash ..

or remove it in recovery (if you don't have overlay)
Code:
adb shell rm /system/media/android_audio.mp3

Delete system/app/ADWLauncher.apk
Delete ADW stuff in dalvik-cache, or complete wipe your dalvik-cache
Push the new ADWLauncher.apk to system/app
reboot
if i wiped dalvik-cache will it affect other apps ???
and by "push"
do you mean just copy the apk and paste it in system/app ??
didnt work !!!
isnt there anyway around it by using terminal or something ?
I've done this before by just installing the newer version from the market (it actually has a different name for the installed apk), set as default, then uninstall the old version with Titanium...

Mount RW. Overwrite the file. Then select and install it. Exit and reboot. I do it all the time.

This. You'll have two versions of ADW installed at first, but just remove the old one using TB and you're set.
Try this:
Open the Terminal app and run the following commands in it:
Code:
su
remount
cp /sdcard/ADW.Launcher.apk /system/app/ADWlauncher.apk
reboot
how about setting the permissions?
This is how I did it.
0. Make a backup of your original ADWLauncher.apk
1. Download the newest ADW.Launcher from the Market
2. Using Root Explorer, mount as R/W, in /data/app, find the ADW.Launcher apk file
3. Copy and paste the file into /system/app
4. Delete old ADWLauncher.apk
5. Rename copied file to ADWLauncher
6. (If needed) Long press on file and select Permissions, change Permissions to Read: All 3; Write: User
7. Mount back to R/O and exit Root Explorer.
Enjoy.

I didnt make a backup before removing but can I just copy over the file from the rom and paste it in as i dont want to reflash again as I have the rom/phone the way I want it
Thanks
Yes you can but after you do that re apply permissions and owner info.

Thanks for info but how do you do that?
Permissions and owner?
Use mount /system and then adb to device while in recovery and open shell. Then do a cd to whatever folder u want and do a chown root /../../../file. Ten using recovery fix permissions or do a chmod.

hi trying to delete some bloadware i did delete apk clock so i cant set my alarm, can some one help me with this apk or any simple alarm im on stock rom 2.6.3
Download any ROM from the development section, grab the Clock.apk from /system/app, proceed to paste it in your phone (to /system/app) using a root explorer
Yes, I have the apk file here: View attachment DeskClock.apk.
Copy it to /system/app/ and set permissions to rw-r-r.
Or, install it with System Apps Installer (by Traber Software), you need root, but you have root, or not?

View attachment DeskClock.apk
May be this will work
Instead of using any app
Do it manually
1. Download Root Explorer from Play Store
2. Then download the file from the link in the post
Its deskclock.apk
3. Go in Root Explorer
So first go to your root then system /app
(Note: Enable Mount system as R/W in Root Explorer)
4. Then copy the deskclock.apk I gave you and paste in system/app
5. SET PERMISSIONS
Long click on deskclock.apk and click on permissions
You will see three columns
Read Write Execute
You have to set them in the following way
x means you have to tick it
blank means uncheck
Read Write Execute
.....x........x.................
.....x...........................
.....x...........................
6. Click OK
Reboot
Note : in root explorer, in system/app
click on mount system as R/W
not R/O
or you will get error

Better yet, rename to ensure you have a backup. I just renamed mine to htc_boot.mp3.bak
i downloaded a silent mp3 of 5 seconds then named it htc_boot.mp3.
So i installed trinity kernel and its great but.... its boot logo is god awful and ugly. I want to change it back to the original... I found the original bootanimation.zip and put it in system/media after changing the trinity logo to bootanimation.bak... I restarted and now I get the default android boot splash.... What happened and how can I fix it?
Download ROM Toolbox and use that to set the boot animation instead.

Its usually a permissions problem. Make sure the permissions are set to rw- r-- r--. If not set them and reboot. Running fix permissions from TWRP or CWM may do this also.

you can put it in /data/local/ too. that way if you flash a trinity update, your boot animation wont get overwritten. but yea, run a fix permissions. in a terminal emulator app..
su(press enter)
fix_permissions(press enter)
or change permissions manually like the post above stated.

Yes it was permissions error... I fixed it and now my joyous regular boot is back.
