Ok I was on the HeroSense Rom for a few days and it was giving me MAJOR problems, so I decided to go back to Cyanogen 4.2.3.1. I followed these instructions http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php/Upgrading_From_Older_CyanogenMod_Versions
but when I wen to go flash the ROM I have ADP1 recovery, I don't know how this happened, but I need to guidance as to what I should do now. I want to use Cyanogen again but my phone says it's an ADP1
I've searched the forum and google but came up with nothing.
PLEase someone help

Really this is the wrong section for this post.
Request: can someone move this to the Q&A forum? Please thanks. I didn't know.
So what's the problem? Go ahead and flash Cyan's recovery and Cyan's rom and you should be good to go.
You have to wipe, flash htc recovery image, then it reboots and shows the triangle, then it should reboot back into recovery, then you flash CM rom.
my phone is rooted and running froyo with cognition 3.0.2. i bought it that way and i want to change to some different themes. i have a sd card in the phone and all the right stuff like cwm recovery and titanium back up. i have read all the stickys but i still cant figure out how to do this. i can get to the root of my sd card in windows all drivers are installed. i think im just missing a few steps and im there but i spent hours trying to figure it out and i failed lol. if somebody could please help me i would really appreciate it a lot. thanks in advance
Your gonna have to flash a compatible theme for Cognition. You can't just pick any theme. But here's one to get you started, instructions are on the page also: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=918057&highlight=cognition+theme
What themes are you trying? As long as it is compatible it us very easy
But please read and read the stickies about flashing or your gonna come back here asking how to unbrick your phone.

edit: i needed to update my rom manager to boot into cwm recovery and i am there now. something that easy didnt let me boot into cwm. now i am all good
I thought I had everything figured out after I rooted my galaxy tab but I was wrong, I've seen so many ways to flash the clockworkmod I don't know which one will actually work. Am I correct when I say if I have ROM manager all I have to do after I root the tab is to tap on "Flash ClockworkMod Recovery" and that's all I have to do? Then from there do I install the EXT4 kernel then after that I can finally install what ROM I want? And I don't fully understand what exactly clockworkmod is/does. sorry I'm sure this is a pain in the ass to have a noob asking these question when all the info is there but I've searched and searched and I am just not understanding it and I don't wanna mess up and brick my tab. Thanks for any help you can give.
So I just got an old Captivate, and it unfortunately has 2.2 installed. I think that with Super One Click I was able to root it, but I am not even entirely sure. I am able to go into recovery mode, but it is the 3e recovery. Is there a simple fix to get past this, or do I have to flash back to 2.1 somehow? And once I do have full access in recovery mode, am I supposed to install ClockworkMod as well? I just can't find any discussion of this for some reason in the forums... Thanks for any help!
Edit: This should probably be moved, I didn't realize I was still in Development forums
This goes in Q&A not Dev. This has been asked only 1000 times please use search function and read ALL the stickies for newbies. HERE is a list of guides that will aid you in everything Captivate related. The rom list on that first link isn't the most updated. THIS is a good guide to flash GB roms.

prbassplayer gave you all the info you should need.
OK...first off...my name is Stupidfingers, and I'm a NOOB.
Now that I've got that off my chest...
I just SUCCESSFULLY (I think) rooted my Cappy (running stock 2.3.5) using the instructions generously provided by froggy3hope (thanks, froggy3hope!).
I'm looking forward to attempting to flash CM 7, and dutifully installed ROM Manager, hoping for a little NANDroid backup action. I clicked on Flash ClockworkMod Recovery and was asked to "Confirm Phone Model". The list of options was: Google Nexus S, Google Nexus S 4G, Samsung Epic4G, and Samsung GalaxyS i9000. None of which, of course, is a Samsung Galaxy S Captivate.
Where did I go wrong? What should I do? Being a Noob sucks.
Thanks in advance,
Stupidfingers
Flash a gingerbread i897 kernel with cwm injected in it. Then place the cm7 file on your SD card and flash the ROM from there. Don't forget to wipe data, cache, and dalvik (wipe dalvik found in advanced settings in cwm).
And instead of admitting that, you can just read the stickies and search other threads to learn more
Sent from my SGH-I897 using XDA
Read the stickies. And I believe ROMManager is not recommended.
Thanks...
Thanks for the help, I found a kernel that had CWM built in and now all is good. I sincerely appreciate the help.
With respect to "read the stickies"...
I did many search combinations based on my noob understanding of the issues, with i897, captivate, i9000, clockworkmod, etc. Nothing that I read, to my eye, looked like it described my problem. I spent HOURS looking for an appropriate message thread.
Eh we all had to go through that. Three months after I started rooting my phone, I ended up hard-bricking it because I didn't explore enough on a particular tool.
(Wanted to upgrade to uckj3 using Heimdall-Frontend. Noob me decided to flash secondary bootloaders, which resulted in a hard brick and $40 to spend on JTAG lol)
Best of luck to you and enjoy!
