How To Modify The WiFi Sleep Policy - Nook Color General

I am sorry if this was already found.
I know alot of people were complaining about the wifi shutting down when the screen timeout occurred. I found a setting in Spare Parts that changes the wifi sleep policy. My NC battery died and is charging so I didn't get a chance to see how well it worked but hopefully it helps.
I set mine to never. I also found that a some of the lg apps posted elsewhere here install and work on the nook.
I for one cannot wait for the roms. This thing kicks serious ass in it's infancy... imagine if someone like cyanogen came on board.

Agreed.. Once Bluetooth is active and hopefully CM6 comes to play this puppy should perform quite well (mouse on screen ya!).. I'm amazed that the 3D games (mainly Gameloft) play so well right off the bat..

I did the same thing in Spare Parts and can verify that the Wifi stays active. I know because K9 on my NC beeps at me a second before my phone chimes when I get an email, even when it's been locked with the screen off for hours.

How does this affect battery life though? I imagine if Wifi is always connected and getting email, it should be a serious drain on the battery...

wifi on = battery drain

Yes it would so use judiciously.

I set mine to never turn off wifi automatically, and then I just use a wifi widget (either the power control widget that's already there) or Beautiful Widgets wifi toggle to turn it off when I'm not using it (during the day at work for example).

I have mine set to never...Still cuts wifi when the screen sleeps.
Any other tricks to try? I need wifi to remain active....

I've tried Wifi Lock as well as Spare Parts, and have the same result. Wifi still sleeps.

Spare Parts did not work for me either. I've yet to try Wifi Lock.

Wifi Lock works for me...
Ok.. I read all the posts I could find and installed Wifi Lock, this is the only one I tested and works great for me. (Tested using Pandora radio)
This is what I did:
1- Install Wifi Lock (Android Market)
2- Reboot Nook Color
3- Go to your Extras and run the app. (It doesn't have a user interface, it only displays a message every time you click on it: Default / Never)
4- If you are using Advanced Task Killer (or any other) make sure you deselect Wifi Lock and add it to your Ignore List (I did it right away, I guess that's a VERY important step)
I just tested it several times for about an hour using Pandora radio, I have no idea how much it will drain the battery... If something goes wrong I'll let you know...

Is this policy of keeping wifi on based on nooks that do not constantly reboot themselves, which is an issue many of us are having. there is a huge thread clarifying a partial fix for the rebooting based on killing wifi when the screen is off.

I am having pretty good results with "WiFi Manager" in the marketplace.

never mind - my bad, info was not correct, so sorry

This is absolute nonsense.
Wifi never sleep is a massive drain on the nook battery. Its better on a phone because when the wifi shuts off the phones data turns on and uses more battery. The nook has no data connection so when wifi is off it uses next to no battery life.

Thank you. My bad, I apologize for the bad information.

My problem was a bit different than everyone else's, because when my wifi shut off during sleep, I would have to manually reset my router in order to get the NC to recognize it. Needless to say, this was a huge pain, because we have a lot of devices in our home depending on the wireless router, including our cable boxes.
So, I've been using WiFi Lock on the NC for the past two days. So far, it's only lost the wifi signal once, and I was able to turn it back on within the Nookcolor. Hopefully this will last, because I will gladly take that over having to reboot our rooter.

I would like to pass along some info on an app that I “highly” recommend for controlling the Nook Color’s WiFi. For the last few days I’ve been using “Green Power FREE battery saver”
The beauty of this app is that you can control the “automatic” ON/OFF of WiFi based on when the screen turns off. With it setup to turn off the WiFi with a 0 second time delay I have eliminated all random reboots when the system goes into sleep mode. Also as soon as the screen comes back on it automatically turns the Wifi back on, and my Nook reconnects in about ten seconds. I have tested this in both Infrastructure and ADHOC modes (tethered to my phone) with no problems what so ever.

I have tried Wake Lock, Spare Parts, and WIFILock. I saw the most success with WIFILock but it has been failing lately. I'm going to try Soft Locker next and see what happens.

The Nook wifi problem sounds very much like the issue the ZTE blade has, I've made an app that creates a wakelock whenever you turn the screen off (if wifi is enabled).
Let me know if it works!

I'm currently on Continuum v5.6 . I was also having this problem on 5.4 and earlier on cognition.
I don't have any 3G or gprs. Just WiFi.
With WiFi on and connected I get bad battery drain(10% in 90 minutes) even when wifi is not in use and phone is sitting idle as you can see above.
When I turn WiFi off or WiFi on but not connected, I get essentially flat curves with a battery drain of like 1-2% an hour. What gives?
I get fast battery drain just like you, with wifi on at home. My router is D-Link Dir-655. Some people say they get low battery usage with wifi turned on, so I'm beginning to think it's more to do with the router than the phone. I've had the problem from day one. My first phone developed the random shutdown issue and was replaced by AT&T. The second phone is just the same running down the battery fast when wifi is on. I have gotten in the habit of turning wifi off when I'm not using it. It's a pain, but I don't know anything else to do. I'm certainly not going to replace my router just because of it.

I have that same exact router! DIR-655.
I saw another thread in the dlink forums where a guy had that same router and the same issue. Here : hxxp://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=38655.0 (replace xx by tt)
Here as well : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1087278
Though he solved it by removing some HP printer drivers that were polling the LAN constantly.
Most people recommend leaving WiFi sleep policy to never, but I get better battery when leaving it to sleep on screen off. But thats just because wifi turns off about 10 minutes after screen is off so push updates like instant messages/email stop working until the screen is turned on again. (No 3G here)
I have acquired another captivate which is running the stock rom. I'm gonna run some tests on it.
The second captivate also does the same thing.
I can see a constant trickle of data from wifi using the OS Monitor App when not using the wifi and background data is set to off. Its something like 200 bytes every 3 seconds. Accordingy the wireless light on my router also keeps blinking, albeit at a significant slow rate..
Can the timeout for "Turn wifi off when screen off" be reduced to a few seconds instead of minutes??
I have a Zyxel WAP and a SonicWall router/firewall. So its definitely not Dlink only.
I see the same pattern as lurkingdevil.
I lose 5% in 10 mins with wifi on it sucks. It also depends on which apps are running in the background and which ones update like Facebook or email

I feel you..
I have now turned on 3G and it doesnt burn battery like wifi.
In OS Monitor when using 3G there is a static tx/rx value unless I do something that requires data transfer .
On the other hand with wifi on, tx/rx keeps going up even with everything off, some data is always transfering between router and phone...
I think there is some setting in the router that is causing this..
I love the whole android development game but I don't think I'm techsavvy enough to mess with my router, ill stay tuned nonetheless incase some brave soul experiments and gets results
I just switched to continuum 5.6 last night, but was constantly charging while using wi-fi. Ill look into it tonight to see if it affects me in the same way.

Ok so I dived into my router settings.
Good news is that I managed to nearly fix this issue. I have a DIR-655 , D-Link has done a great job by making a firmware emulator here : http://support.dlink.com/Emulators/dir655/133NA/login.html
Login with user : admin pass: admin
From the tabs at top choose ADVANCED --> ADVANCED WIRELESS (left pane)
Now you will see a bunch of things that have some value set to them. Here I changed DTIM from 1 to 200 . After doing this, I set wifi sleep policy to never and kept my phone aside. Checking after an hour and I had lost only 1%.
Bad news is that push notifications have gone flaky, I dont know what exactly the DTIM thing does so I'm still researching it. You can click on the "More.." link on the right pane and there is some info on it.
EDIT: I switched DTIM back to 1 and push is still not working perfectly. Can you guys check this?
Set WiFi sleep policy to never and log in on gtalk from the phone. Then send yourself some messages via another google account and see if you hear the notification sound on the phone when the screen is turned off. You might hear it the first time but try sending a bunch of consecutive messages.
For me, I hear it sometimes, sometimes I don't, but if I turn on the screen right after sending the message(and not hearing the notification) I can see the message in the status bar at the lockscreen.
EDIT 2: During my previous tests, I was logged in from my account on the pc as well as the phone. Notifications seem to work much better if I'm just logged in from the phone.

[Q] How to troubleshoot kernel wakelock problems?

Hi everyone,
I've been optimizing my battery drain issues as suggested in other threads in here and elsewhere, since I'm having unusual battery usage when the phone is off (even in the flight mode, with WiFi,GPS,Autosync off, it uses more than 10% of the battery in 6 hours).
I've used CPU Spy, OSMonitor, BetterBatteryStats, and terminal commands (ps, top, etc.) trying to pinpoint the battery problem, and I got to some results, but I got stock with this issue:
CPU Spy shows that my Galaxy Note never goes to "Deep Sleep". It's always stuck with 200 MHz when it's turned off. So, I figure the issue should be a wakelock.
The BetterBatteryStats everything is (to some extent) natural, except that it shows (in its Kernel Wakelocks page) a huge number under the name "GPS", and I don't seem to be able to find the problem. Actually, the time reported for the "GPS" wakelock is almost equivalent to the uptime of the device minus the time that the device was fully awake (screen on).
For example, I turn off the screen, wait for 10 seconds, turn back on, and the number is increased by 10 seconds. (It doesn't increase when the screen is on)
Here's what I've tried already:
- Turning off the GPS (it was off from the beginning actually)
- Turning off everything (Wifi, Cell)
- Killing most of the apps in Running Services
- Restarting the device
One important observation was that when I restart the device, the "Deep Sleep" is back for some few minutes. When I use my device for one or two minutes (nothing special, turn on Wifi, do a sync) the "GPS" kernel wakelock is back, and doesn't go away no matter what I do.
I searched a lot, and nobody seems to have noticed a high "GPS" wakelock on the kernel.
My ROM is Samsung's stock ROM (Updated to 2.3.6)
Kernel version: 2.6.35.7-N7000XXKK9-CL725676
Anyone has any idea what to do to find out what is causing the wake lock?
------------
Update:
There's a few experiments that I had:
- When I have WiFi turned off and restart the device (hold the power button, turn off, and turn back on) there is no issue (phone can go to deep sleep, and there's no "GPS" kernel wake lock). After turning on the WiFi and passing a few minutes, the issue is back.
- When I have WiFi turned on and restart the device (so that the WiFi is on from the beginning when the device starts) entering Deep Sleep is impossible. The "GPS" wake lock exists from the very beginning.
- The above issue made me think that it might be a Network Location issue. So I went to Settings > Location and security > and disabled "Use wireless networks" and restarted the device. The issue never happened again no matter how long I waited. I turned on WiFi, auto sync, manual sync, turned on GPS and used Google Maps, ... There was no problem with Deep Sleep. The device can sleep alright.
- When I changed the "Use wireless networks" setting back on, to my surprise, the issue DID NOT COME BACK. I even used it (located myself without GPS in Google Maps) and everything else... But the device can still go to sleep.
So, bottom line is that I have the issue fixed (for now!) but I can't realize what was it and why isn't it there anymore.
Anyone has any ideas?
------------
Another update:
The phone got to sleep well last night. 1 percent battery drain during the whole night. But when I got to work (the location changed), the "GPS" kernel wake lock is back, and causing the phone to stay awake. I had to disable the Network Location again to put my baby to sleep again...

I have the same problem..Huge GPS percetage but the GPS is off.. I will try your methode now..hope it works
I had the very same issue on KK9/KL3/KL7
I dont have the GPS enabled but the scenario is similar, I used the phone with wifi (but no wifi location services enabled) and it does not go into deep sleep till the phone is restarted and bettery battery stats show a huge uptime caused by the GPS.
I seem to be facing the same issue. My phone used to go into Deep Sleep without any issue earlier, I noticed this issue today. I'm trying OP's suggestions and will report back if it helps.
same issue here since kl7
Making me crazy.. Anyone has a solution?
It happens whenever they phone boots with wifi on... Booting with wifi off then turning it on it will sleep fine
i have exactly the same problem.
galaxy note on rocket rom v14 and v15.
i'll try your method and update if find anything. it's driving me nuts!
Exactly same problem here

I have the same problem. Sometimes on restarting, the problem seems to go away. Have just not been able to find a pattern to see what triggers it off.
I've attached some screen shots.
My phone lost about 20% in 8 hours. At night. Ridiculous.
The only way I found around this is to reboot in airplane mode...
Maybe it's some program keeping it awake. Keeps trying to get a fix on location.
Are any of you using Samsung dive? Or have you enabled the "remote control" feature?

r u using google latitude ? if so try loging out.
FFor a better experience level battery must be a full wipe and wipe Dalvik cache and have the battery load 100% and with ODIN PC to install the official rom you want depending on your country KL3 OR KL4 http://forum available here. xda-de...m.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1331784 flash the kernel SpeedMod K1-1 Test 5 http://http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1443385available here
I did try logging out of Lattitude. The problem didn't appear for a while, but it's back now.
Has it got anything to keeping the Auto Sync on?
I have the same problem and i am on RocketROM v19 + AbyssNote 3.2. The GPS appears after i discharge to about 80% mark.
The percenetage of my battery is from 100% to 1%, what is "GPS" that is keeping my phone from sleeping?
I have the same issue.
From time to time the GPS kernel wakelock kicks in and starts draining the battery.
This appears mainly when I connect to a Wifi network and never when I use a GSM network data link.
2 solutions for me: restart the phone with wifi off.
Enable GPS, start a GPS software like GPS test for a short while, and then leave the app and stop the GPS again.
When I check with CPU spy, the phone enters deep sleep again.
Check all the widgets on your homescreens. Anything that requires updates that use current location will activate the GPS.
it is not related to any widget or so, i tried all combinations and, no matter what, gps will come back again.
the only way around this I found was to reboot in airplane mode. it would work for a day or so and then GPS wakelock will show again needing another reboot
No need to reboot in airplane mode, just turning off wifi and reboot will work. This is troublesome as i have encountered GPS waking my phone twice a day sometimes. I am fed up with rebooting my phone. I really hope they fix this in future ICS.
I am currently testing on logging out facebook, i have yet to encounter the GPS wakelock so far. Hope all goes well and facebook is the root of these GPS wakelocks.
Did you also tried what I posted above?

I am constantly connected to a very weak wifi connection too but does that really have anything to do with the GPS wakelock? if so, i will look into this to confirm.
And your methods above, does it work permanently or whenever the GPS wakelock occurs, i have to redo the steps?

[Q] Can someone explain how forgetting wifi networks improves battery?

Sorry if this is a stupid question. But i read somewhere that forgetting (deleting) wifi networks would help battery. For me, this actually worked. Im not a power user so my phone will be idle for hours at a time. Coming from an iphone (i know its not a fair comparison cuz iphone is more lightweight), i would lose ~5% during 9.5 hours of work if i never took it out of my pocket. On the gnote3, i sometimes get 15%-20% drain even with a screen time of ~30min. But after forgetting the wifi networks, drain is reduced to 5%-10% within that 10 hours im working. So can anyone explain why after a few weeks, my battery will start to drain quicker again until i forget my 2 wifi networks (work and home)? As a disclaimer, that 5% on the iphone is when i literally didn't take the phone out of my pocket at all. I am playing with my gnote3 more than the iphone (the newness still hasn't worn off for me yet), but i wanted to throw the iphone stats in as a reference.

Well I'm not certain if it actually works this way or not. But here's a theory..... If you have a bunch of stored wifi access points and aren't connected to any, the phone might be looking for those connections? But isn't it looking for wifi anyway? Maybe if you don't have stored access points it doesn't look so often? That's my theory on this situation that I've never heard before but anything is possible because it's the internet!!! The easier fix to this without deleting your wifi access points is to disable wifi all together. You can even add a shortcut to your homescreen!
If you really want to get to the bottom of this and find out what was happening I would install Wakelock Detector. Even when you're not using your phone because it's locked in your pocket, rogue apps or processes can wake your cpu. This app will tell you what's waking your device and draining the battery. If your device is rooted I HIGHly recommend getting Greenify. You can choose to hibernate apps directly from the wakelock detector app. Now how cool is that!!
I like what ^he said. Only if your WiFi is constantly on but not connected it will constantly be scanning which will impact battery. If its connected but a weak signal this will also impact battery life poorly, same as constantly connecting and disconnecting. I leave all my WiFi on all the time at home and over 10 hours of non use only drop 2% or less. However in your WiFi setting there is a setting that has an option to disable WiFi when asleep. If your always pulling your phone out to play with it and have this option enabled then every time you turn your phone on it will scan for a network. And turn back off when you turn the screen off. I am not a fan of this option and for better battery life leave your WiFi on all the time UNLESS you don't have a network to connect to. If you're connected leave it on, if not turn it off. I recommend to set it up like this.

I've got the same setup as you! It seems to work for me as you can tell by my battery stats.
What I usually do is I just take a few seconds to disable everything other than mobile data when I'm out and about. If I need to check emails I do so with a manual sync, unless it's during work or on-call hours (Gotta keep them servers running 24/7!) in which case I leave on autosync.
I try to never leave location on unless I need to use Maps, and because of that I keep all the stuff that's supposed to use WiFi even when WiFi is off disabled as well. I'm sure there's fifty ways I could automate all of this into profiles but I like the manual control over my battery consumption.
I haven't run numbers but I've kept the phone uncharged for almost two days with no problems. I was even able to make it back to home on the last 5% with three or four subway stops and plug her in before she died. And that's with the default battery.
I think it's more about overall mindfulness of what processes are running versus an insane level of finetuning for the process. If you make sure A) that WiFi is disabled, and that B) WiFi is *REALLY* disabled, meaning no scanning for networks or being used for location services, then even if you have fifty networks saved it won't scan for any of them.

Let's discuss this battery problem

This is not another, I love this phone BUT the battery is too small.
Currently there is a massive bug affecting the T-Mobile (possibly others) Galaxy S6 (unconfirmed on edge)
Symptoms
Massive Battery Drain while Idle
Cellular Standby top Usage in Battery Stats
Random WiFi issues
Self Diagnosis
Go into Battery
Tap Cellular Standby and remember the "Total Connection Time"
Go back to "Battery" and hit refresh
Check Connection Time again
If the time increases but you are NOT using any applications, on the phone or downloading you are affected by this bug.
Fixes
Turn WiFi calling OFF
Disable VoLTE (VoLTE toggle is in the Phone App/More/VoLTE.)
Update - Turning off WiFi Calling along with disabling VOLTE appears to have patched this issue for now. You can still use WiFi like normal and turn that off and on and it shouldn't have any issues.
So lets discuss this, I have not been able to fix it. WiFi on or off, WiFi calling enabled or disabled nothing seems to correct the problem. Its as if the phone is ALWAYS on a call.
Edit- VoLTE seems to have corrected the issue somewhat. What I did is turned off VoLTE, Turned off WiFi calling and then turned WiFi off and back on. My Connection Time hasnt moved since. How long this patch lasts for, I don't know.
Mods - Please monitor this thread if you could for battery naysayers and complainers. We are out to diagnose and fix the problem, not complain about it.

Disable VoLTE (I just found this seems to correct it this morning, please test. VoLTE toggle is in the Phone App/More/VoLTE.

Thanks for starting this thread. I have tried pretty much everything, including uninstalling/disabling most apps, turning off "keep awake" for what's left, etc. I just tried turning of VoLTE and I still lost about 2% in 15 minutes with my phone just sitting on the desk (no use). My next course of action is to try a wipe. I really don't want to take this phone back. I still think this is some sort of bug with 5.01. My Nexus 6 had battery life issues until 5.1 and now it's awesome.
Okay the VoLTE trick fixed my high cell standby drain.

I've used quite a few lollipop builds and I've noticed on just about all of them (including the s6) Google play services runs pretty high. Haven't had the phone long enough to accurately test, but I'd suggest for those seeing it run pretty high to completely disable auto update of apps. That should help limit its ability to wake up the phone.

I actually disabled wake for that app using App Ops. Nothing in Gsam or regular battery stars is telling me anything.
I just performed a wipe. If that doesn't do it, I give up.
Ok guys let me throw in my 2 cents.

that was yesterday usage. I had wifi on the whole time yesterday.
Now today usage wifi off since 100%, i have no ****ing idea why facebook is using that much, ive use it 10 mins at most.
Facebook is like a hydra when it comes to app permissions. It has the most permissions to your phone with few apps to rival it. Use an app that blocks particular functions you dont use in the facebook app (GPS, contacts, etc) and just install this (must be rooted) https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.findsdk.apppermission&hl=en
I realize it hasn't been a full days of use yet, but the Cell standby sums up the battery issue drain. I'd prefer to keep VoLTE on, and we should be able to without this being a problem. It was on, on my G3 and I didn't have such significant Cell standby battery drain. Any idea of another cause?
So, I finally caved in and wiped, even though I have had the device since Monday and battery has been bad all along. Prior to wiping, I was losing around 2%/15 minutes (8-10%/hr) without even using it. After wiping, seem to be losing around 4%/hr. I am not using it at all, just testing the idle drain. It's definitely better.
My question to the fine folks here: Does 4%/hr with no use seem reasonable? I only installed minimal apps and none of them are doing any kind of autosync or update. I have one exchange account set up through Nine and then my gmail account.

For me, even without ever turning on my phone, it's syncing with breaking news apps, facebook, twitter, hangouts, gmail push, work email push, a couple online RPG games pushing me alerts and so on. My battery drain ironically isn't stemming from apps syncing and emails/alerts being pushed constantly throughout the day. It's the cell standby for me.
contributing factor?

Seems to be the cell standby for me too. Disabling WiFi calling and VoLTE has fixed it for now.
Is there a Samsung support channel where we could get this recognized? It seems really asinine that people are exchanging the handset for what is clearly a software defect.
sassafras
VoLTE seems to be my problem for now. Disabled it. And fully charged it to 100% and its now at 75% and cell standby isn't even on the battery stats list.

So, I can't believe I'm saying this, but a factory reset totally resolved my battery issue. It was only 4 days old. I couldn't see how it could have possibly been fixed by that, but it was a last resort before returning it.
Now I have some pretty normal Battery life. I love this phone!

If you hadn't been a douche in your follow-up reply, I certainty would consider it.
Having this issue as well..after having a nice battery cycle of almost 5 hours sot I'm seeing the same thing in bbs, losing 6% an hour idle. Will try the fixes to see if it helps thanks guys
so im getting the edge on the 15th
should i factory reset it right when i get it ?
The only thing I did out off the box was take the OTA and root. Maybe the OTA set it off? I pretty much have the same apps installed now.

Weird battery problem with Marshmallow. UPDATE: LTE problem!!!

Hi everyone, hi experts!
I´ve a problem with my Z3 compact. I was having a huge battery consumption from the Google Services so I decided to save everything, repair software using the PC-Xperia Companion and start from scratch. But after that now everything is even worse! My battery drains about 40-50% in one night whithout using it! This time there is no meaningful info from the apps... power consumption in mAh in every app looks small... but the overall battery drains very fast so I can not detect where the drain is coming from. Here some pictures:

What can I do now? Reinstall again? Send the phone for repair?
Many thanks in advance!
UPDATE: After forcing the phone to use 2G or 3G the battery drain stopped. So it seems that it happens only when LTE is selected (independently wifi is enabled or not). Question now is if this is a problem of the LTE module of my phone or a problem of the net supplier.

Chances are Google has a lot to do with it. Do you have poor reception in your house? If the phone is straining to pick up and reply to a poor signal, that can have a big effect on overnight battery. Try switching to 2G overnight.
Other common cuplrits are Facebook and Whatsapp or messaging apps that are constantly pinging data. Try turning the wifi off as you sleep. Also using location based wifi will make a difference as I see your wifi stays on constantly. Have you disabled wifi and bluetooth scanning in location settings? Disable Google location history. I know this sounds daft but go to settings/storage - hold down cached data and delete. This won't effect any apps or services but does make a diffference, I didn't believe it myself until I tried.
Looking at your graph there is something keeping your phone awake at night. Try installing BetterBatteryStats, this will give you more of an idea which service is causing the kernel wakelocks, post your questions about the name of a service causing the problem on the thread as they are very helpful with the answers.
There are lots of reasons why Google Play Services are eating your battery, try a few fixes yourself, check which version of Play Services you have installed , anything older than 9.4.52 needs replacing. Remove your google account, wipe data for Play Services and Download manager, restart to recovery, wipe cache/dalvik. Restart phone, add account again.
There seems to be issues with fitness trackers and bluetooth, if you have bluetooth on all the time, see what happens if you turn it off?
I can recomend Greenify app that can make a difference in putting apps to sleep, it also helps you see which apps are awake and on.
Check in settings/developer options/running services to see what's on and using most memory, you might be surprised at what you find. To enable developer options go to settings/about phone - press on build 8 times, then you get a message that develper options are availabe in the settings menu.
If all else fails, I can recomend Slim 2.5, which is giving me 4 days from one charge and moving to a custom rom isn't as difficult as you might think.
I noticed that after installing new ROMs battery usage is relatively high in the first day or so. Hence it may improve over time (to some extent at least...).
Hi!! Thanks for the help!! I´ll try some of the ideas you suggested. Here some answers anyway:

I had no problem in the past... but two weeks ago my company upgraded me from 3G to LTE... perhaps this is the problem. I´ll block LTE this night an

WIFI is always on because I´m at home. I always had wifi always on without problems. I´ll disable location though... just to be sure this is not the problem.

This will be my third night trial. Something keeps something always on... I just need to find what. If this app helps perhaps I will find the culprit!

The cell location for your 4G connection might be further away or on the edge of connectivity compared to the location of the 2G tower. Everyone assumes that the 2G/3G/4G transmitters are all in the same place, but it's very rarely the case. Most 'old' masts with 2G & 3G don't have room for the 4G transmitter as well and the service provider often needs to install 4G somewhere else..
So if your LTE connection is a long way away, your phone will have to be straining at full power just to keep the connection alaive.
