I put the r2d2 boot animation but would like to enable boot up sounds. Rooted, can't figure out where to drop the sound file. Tia

Is there not an answer to this question? I too would like to enable boot sound on my Droid 1.

Thanks for the quick reply, I'm gonna make a nandroid backup and try this out.

Worked great, thank you. Only disappointment was that the sound only plays for about 5 seconds instead of thru the whole boot animation. I guess it depends on how fast your phone boots?

I have looked in the anim folder in framework-res.apk, but I don't think it's in there. Any other ideas?
There is already a thread for this here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=875304
And yes, I want this badly.
Yea I poked around in the couple of "dumps" posted and can't find the images/shutdown ani related to this.
If it is a shutdown animation - you would think it would be in the /system/media folder.
But .. if this just the "Power Off"/sleep menu - it could be in the framework - and you'd think the images would be in the framework-res/res/drawable-hdpi folder.
I'm just a hack though (- the "er") and like to tweak around, so I could be missing something
I want it badly as well. Im not smart enough to get it myself thats why I'm asking here, I loved it when I was messing around with the Nexus S at Best Buy
I hate splash screens/animations in general, disable them whenever I can, so I am curious about possibly disabling the boot animation on my xoom. No custom work, I just want it to go away because it's annoying.
At the absolute minimum I guess a static image wouldn't be too bad if removing the animation results in a black screen. I'd much prefer to see the actual linux/honeycomb boot messages, though. What's the best way to accomplish this?
you could just make a plain black screen boot animation. it would just display a black screen. problem would be is how would you know if you were in a boot loop?
you could also just rename bootanimation.zip and it will not play. it will display a black screen. but i agree with sardo, if you get into a boot loop you may be difficult for you to realize.

Drat. Thanks for the info guys. Is there no way to see the actual boot-up sequence? Some of the boot animations had seemingly useful info but I was wondering if that was actual boot data stylized by a template or just an animation that looked like one.
Create a Boot immage with the Bootloader Motorola Logo so it just sets on the same logo untill the OS boots up. Easy and doesnt have to be annimated

I thought this method actually has the effect of removing the Stock xoom boot animation but playing the stock android animation. The one that just has the word android with light going across it.
i have just installed cm10 and when phone boots it shows cm9 boot animation but its laggy. how can i fix it?

Wait for a release that isnt alpha. The boot animation is the least priority atm. It will be better eventually.
It is always laggy because the system is loading files and the bootanimation use the cpu (display 30 frames/sec..). Disable bootanimation in order to boot faster
Laggy boot animation doesn't really matter as long as the ROM itself is smooth and not so buggy.
The boot animation is also ripped straight from CM9 so obviously it isn't a top priority for the Devs
I have tried several bootanimations, also changed framerate and size of images in animation, but it is still pausing / stuttering / lagging while loading system.
The only way to have smooth animation is to delete or disable bootanimation.zip and have system animation (the word "ANDROID" with reflection moving over it).
I doubt this is because of the framerate or image size / type of frames, because the stuttering occurred at the same moments of loading for the same period of time when i was changing bootanimation.zip.
I couldn't find any solution on the internet, but would be happy if i knew how to solve this problem. (although i realize there are far more important things to be done)
Edit: FIXED WITH TODAYS CM10 AND DEVIL'S KERNEL (22.8.2012)
Followed a couple tuts on how to get it, but the sound doesnt work. Also the size is very small.
Is there a animation file thats the right size? Also how do I get the boot sound to work with our device?
How can i add sound to my bootanimation? I've seen many galaxys using boot sound but i could't get one to work with moto G
