I've successfully ported Huawei U8150 (Ideos) ROM to work on HTC Tattoo.

This is not a ROM for daily use, it's experimental.
I can't stress out that enough, don't install if you're not an advanced user/developer of any kind. I will not be held responsible for foolishly bricking your phone.
I ported this ROM because Huawei U8150 and HTC Tattoo have very similar hardware and this ROM is 2.2 Froyo, with working camera. However, a lot of stuff don't work on HTC Tattoo, including the Camera.
However, I believe that this ROM might be very useful to those that want to make the Camera work on Froyo, alongside the sources for this device which are available online.
The only thing changed for this to work on HTC Tattoo is the boot.img from CM for Tattoo. The rest of the files are not changed at all.
Download
I probably won't develop this ROM any further, as this is an EXPERIMENTAL PORT.
If you like this ROM, and you want to help me, DONATE.
Are you able to say if the Camera is the same hardware as Tattoo?
It uses the same Qualcomm hardware driver, so I think it is, but says that it can't connect to Camera on this ROM. However, it might be something minor, not incompatibility.
Could you add a screenshot so people can see how it looks?
Keep going with your good work, Tbo-art
I'm trying to, however USB is not working, and I can't transfer anything, and I can't install ShootMe, nor can I access internet.
Anyhow, I'll see what I can do.

Alright thanks and good luck with it
Tbo-art
You should work on this rom
it seems very fast
good work with it
It is extremely fast, but I simply ported it to see if the Camera will work, considering hardware similarity and hopefully, to create a nice development base.
I'm not sure if I can make it completely usable, though.

maybe you could combine rom-s ?
It might be possible but I'm not sure that Camera would work.
Can we Try to replace kernel with fyodor's or ixkdf's. I believe they have working camera drivers on it?

Noob conclusion, but isn't kernal on this rom newer then fyodor's or ixkdf's?
Maybe we could boot using Ideos boot img with some kernel libs from tattoo replaced.

thats going to be interesting
I have replaced the boot.img from following ROM
[ROM] nFinityROM v1.13 - Froyo 2.2.1 based on CM6.1 sources
But i had to use HTCcalibrate.apk from SPQROM to get screen calibration corrected
I could connect with adb, so took some snaps.
here they are
I used nFinity ROM's boot.img too in the initial port, because the Ideos boot.img is apparently too big.
Added the screenshots to the first post. Thanks rallapag.

i took img from the latest release, i remember that he (arco68) made some kernel tweaks in this one. that might be the reason
did u see huawei offered a kernel upgrade only for ideos ?

so we could replace it with tattoo one, right ?

I flashed the boot.img of KalimochoAz where the cam driver is working but no success... So this rom does not seem to be useful.

It's a nice one.
Looks interesting! I think you need to compile a hero version of cyanogen with that new xml for it to work.
I'm actually trying it now, so fingers crossed and I'll report once I've got the ROM running

Lol... patience, my young padawan. Turns out that the original xml posted in Droid Mechanics' blog was not compatible with the current CM6.1 source format, so I needed to edit that.. (something about id assignment) resuming compilation as we speak
EDIT: it also turns out that I've pushed my little lappy a bit too far; my linux partition is outta space. I'll continue work when I'm on my big machine again at home. Prolly later tonight (if I don't crash driving home through the snow )
Excellent Look forward to seeing this working.

Just quote his post to see the where hes used the bb tags
Okies... I've managed to get it working
But...
1) The carrier text is not displayed correctly (should be right-aligned)
2) This _will_ change your framework-res.apk. Having build it using CM6.2.0 RC0 (currently nightly), it _might_ not work on other ROMs.
Once I get the text properly aligned I will put up a framework-res.apk and a metamorph package for those who want to try
Cool Thanks for taking this on.
Ok, I've solved it
Now all I need to figure out is how to get it to you guys. What ROMs are you using?
Wow nice!
FroydVillain 1.7.2 over here
I've created a two options for you guys to try... but first:
DONT FORGET TO NANDROID
Having said that: I honestly do not know if this will work or not (my hero is also also my main phone and is currently running my own custom build of CM6.1), but for those brave enough to try here you go!
(all files can be found HERE)
Your options are to:
replace your framework-res.apk with one of these (this will reset any theme you've applied!):
(plain) Cyanogen 6.1 - Stable
Floyo 1.2.0
Froyd 1.7.2
or use a metamorph
(plain) Cyanogen 6.1 - Stable
Floyo 1.2.0
Froyd 1.7.2
Again, I have no clue if this will work, so backup first! I recommend a wipe of cache (and maybe dalvik) as well.
Post if it works or not. If this way turns out to be one big mess, I can share my private build, but hopefully this will work.

Maybe it's a kernel issue?
Bluetooth & Wi-Fi are probably kernel issues, sound in call is likley a radio issue as if you run froyo with a GB radio or vice versa then you get exactly the same issue
do you know how to fix the keyboard backlight?
Nice Rom! I like it, but the bug I can not go with it.
The actual MIUI Roms are all Gingerbread.
So we have to look, if this posted rom is a Gingerbread or a FroYo ROM.
Is there any kernel, we can patch in via update-script?
Same for the radio. I think, we have all the actual GB Radio.
If posted rom is a FroYo Version, we are a bit closer to the problem.

Keyboard backlight requires porting code that is specific to the IncS from the servcies.jar file (powermanagement section), and also requires code in the kernel for it to work. I have yet to sucesffully port it, even with the right kernel

I've never had the pleasure of trying a MIUI ROM (the hero never had one) but it looks nice. Looking at the thread this isn't being worked on, but I will take a look (no idea how much modification has been made over standard android so I won't know if I will be able to do anything with it, but I shall give it a look)
EDIT: have found another post on that forum which looks to be a lot more active and possible more advanced, the auto-translation is a bit random but I am trying to sign up to download so I can see where it is. Link if anyone else wants to try: http://bbs.fengbao.com/thread-387479-1-1.html
EDIT 2: Can't sign up cause the captcha is in Chinese! but the release date of the ROM is yesterday so if anyone can get in post the link here!

it has been told that the rom has some wifi broblem, so they move away the download link there.
But i found another thread that contains the rom, i download and try it on my phone, and found it can not work at all.
no signal, no wifi, no back light. totally broken.
maybe your can download it from here
and as i know , the MIUI team did not have a plan that support Incredible S until the official CM7 rom released. so, hope you may do some work on it, thanks for your heart. enjoy it.

The provided kernel just wont boot. I flashed it twice through fastboot, everything went fine and when I reboot the phone, the screen just stays black for hours. Someone here had the same problem, I'm afraid that maybe the download it's just too slow and unstable (took 2 hours to download) making some files corrupt while downloading. I'm just guessing can someone help? This ROM looks so awesome.

backing up rom now and ill try both with the unofficial cm10 and report back.
OK - tested the "V3" one so far, exactly the same as the "Unofficial CM10" kernel it seems, almost identical performance in benchmark - video recording not working, panorama glitchy but camera works fine - identical overclock settings and governors.
second one coming up now.
OK - second one doesnt boot. stuck on boot logo.
UPDATE - interesting, i switched the boot.img from the V3 kernel to the other one, and now it boots but wifi doesnt work.
ok got wifi working - gallery doesnt work with the second kernel, video and panorama same as other kernels. overclock and governors identical aswell.
overall - stick with the kernel youre on now.

Great Job mate. Did you compile it yourself?

Hi AdamBs,
I tried both your methods.
First i tried to flash the update.zip through mi recovery and i got the error that the package is not digitally signed.
Then i tried the fastboot method and i got TWRP, but afrer reboot it went back to mi recovery.
Am i missing something?
Can you show log after installation rom? I have twrp from http://en.miui.com/thread-156838-1-1.html , also I tested twrp from http://en.miui.com/thread-152550-1-1.html and so it looks (screen).

Hope it could be fixed soon. For now only recovery which reboots properly is http://en.miui.com/thread-156838-1-1.html, others I tried (didn't try this before link was removed) freezes on reboot and I have to remove battery. But that one should be flashed using PC.
BTW: should this still belongs to original development thread, it seams like unnoficial TWRP port, right?

Thanks dude. I unzipped just the recovery image and usesd flashify to, um, flash it. That allowed me to make a nandroid backup before I started experimenting with an alternate ROM. I'm so glad I did that because it turned out that Xiaomi's internal backup app doesn't work properly. It didn't restore my contacts, my appointments and some other things. It was really great to use TWRP to return to the setup I had this morning before experimenting with so little hassle After I was done I just did a dirty flash of my current ROM over the top to restore the original recovery.
What about Redmi Note 2 opensource? We able to get kernel sources or even build device tree for any AOSP based ROM? Newer look into MTK before.
P.s. For now wait untill I get my device.

Did you get it from ZOPO's vanzo server or any else?
I have to mention you that DMCA would takedown the source if you caught any notice.

Technically they could request I remove it but it's GPL despite mediatec claiming it's closed source. No matter how much posturing they do I don't think there is much they can do to enforce it. As to the source no it's not from Zopo only these devices use the MT6795
HTC One M9+/E9+
LeTV S1
Elephone Vowney
Meizu MX5
Sony Xperia M5 / M5 Dual
Xiaomi Redmi Note 2/ Prime
Will be linking to sources soon.

You can check this thread for more information "Cyanogenmod for mediatek devices"
Now you can still get fully buildable kernel/full Helio X10 source (about 32GB) from ZOPO's vanzo server via authorization.
