I use my phone to receive all my calls over SIP. Sometimes when I need to make a call I'm not around a (working) access point.
So let's say if I'm walking around is there an app that can notify me when I've connected to an access point? Especially when SIPdroid lights up green.
Thanks
There's an app call WeFi that find and automatically connect you to open network

Hi people,
I'm using my Kaiser's internet connection sharing via BT to my desktop. I noticed that during the ICS session and even after disconnecting, I am unable to receive calls. Sometimes after disconnecting it, a long while later I get sms notifications of 5 or 6 missed calls (this is provided by my carrier). I am on a 3G connection so in theory calls and data could take place simultaneously.
Anyone else experiencing this?
Hi Everyone,
Small but annoying issue which I was wondering if someone could help me with:
Many times (though not always), when I start a phone call - either if I call or when I receive a call - my wireless lan connection wakes up and start looking for a network. That happens even after I explicitly disable it via comm manager.
At home it's not a big deal, since it simply connects to my home wireless network, but on the road, it's a real annoyance, as it start looking for networks asking me which to connect (not to mention the impact on battery life).
So - any idea what can cause this behavior (if it helps, I'm using Dutty's 19/4 Lite ROM and I have MS Direct Push enabled)?
Thanks in advance!
might be that call disconnects data sessions (3g, edge,...) and since you are using direct push maybe this is trying to establish wlan connection (because 3g or something can't be established during call). try to check direct push connection options and maybe you can disable direct push wlan connection.
however, this is just an idea since i'm not using direct push and i use wlan connection only
When I make a phone call I get the message "Conditional call forwarding active" Anyone know what that is about? I also get a brrrp of tones just before the phone I am calling begins to ring is that normal?
Just cancel all diverts on settings menu, it sometimes happens when you have a vm divert on the network hlr

OK I think I get it. It forwards any other calls to my voicemail if I am on the phone. Odd as I have it set for call waiting as well.
I don't know if this may help somebody or if it is an extremely newbie thing or what.. but I kept getting the "Call Forwarding Active" message whenever I tried to call, and then the call just droped and nothing happened. This happened to me for a week, I turned the phone on and off and that didn't helped.. After a lot of trying and error, I realize that it seems as if there is something in the network that sort of 'crashes' the calls, so I have to disconnect form the network and then connect again.
Now I can make calls
To disconnect from the network:
Settings->Wireless and network->Mobile networks->Network Operator->Default Setup
Select Manual and choose the one you should be connected to.
I actually chose another network, failed connecting and then try the one I use. And that made the trick for me...
Hope this helps somebody.
I have use google voice number as my main number for years. I want to turn on receiving incoming phone calls in Hangouts when I'm connected to home WIFI. Ultimately, I want my phone to do below when I get back home:
1. set phone to airplane mode then connect to home WIFI
2. Enable receiving incoming phone calls in Hangouts
3. when disconnected from home wifi, turn airplane mode off and disable receiving income phone calls in Hangout
I've been doing this manually. It really saves lots battery when the phone is not connected to cell tower. I'm not sure if there's a way to do it with Tasker.
Below is instruction from Google how to turn on income phone calls.

Turn on ringing for incoming calls in Hangouts
If you have a Google Voice number, you can get calls on Hangouts. You can also learn how to make calls with Hangouts.
On your Android phone or tablet, open the Hangouts app .
At the top, tap Menu Menu and then Settings.
Tap the Google Account that you use with Google Voice.
Under the "Google Voice" section, check or uncheck "Incoming phone calls."
Change this setting on each device you have.
If you don’t want double notifications, turn off your device as a forwarding phone in Google Voice.
I am a Canadian user. I just got the Pie update over Christmas and have been struggling using Android Auto and other Google services. If I try to connect to my voice mail while in AA the phone connects the call, and then doesn't let me do anything. AA shows the dial out screen, but you cannot use any of the buttons. If you disconnect blue tooth and try to use the VM app (outside of AA) it will put the call through and still not register that it has an active call. When you finally lose the call, because you cannot hang up, you have to reset the phone to even make phone calls again.
Also, I will slowly lose signal strength to whatever tower I am connected to, to the point I get no service, reset the phone, back to 100% service.
I am pretty unhappy with this device now. It used to be just the bluetooth headphone issues now its that and this too.
