:Mysterious Beast::A Collaboration between Thomasskull666 and Mysteryemotionz:
A mix of popular themes/customizations bundled into a visually pleasing package.
Introducing the Mysterious Beast theme:
Based off of the BlackFroyo port for the Vibrant located here made by Samcrow
Combines many elements from Emotionless Beast including 3G icons, status bar pulldown icons, skinned Swype.apk, branding change (courtesy of Mysteryemotionz), and 1% battery mod.
Lots of customizations by me, detailed below.
android.policy.jar courtesy of Dreamsforgotten
This originally started as a port of the BlackFroyo theme that was ported for the Vibrant, but eventually transformed into something much more than that. After having some discussions with mysteryemotionz, we decided to use this as a base for the next edition in the "Beast" line of themes. After getting lots of useful add-ons from mystery, I started to do custom modifications on the theme myself. As well as changes to the framework, I also themed several system apps to make them fit the theme better. Below is a list of apps themed:
Browser.apk
Vending.apk (Black Market theme)
Mms.apk (No-bubble Mms, courtesy of keysoh2 located here
Contacts.apk
Swype.apk (Thanks to mysteryemotionz for this!)
DialerTabActivity.apk
Google Search Widget app
Samsung Program Monitor widget (Transparent background)
YouTube.apk
Completely customized TouchWiz30Launcher.apk, with changed homescreen icons and removed app drawer icon backgrounds
Gmail.apk (Icon) NOTE: Attached to this post is the working Gmail.apk taken from the Bonsai ROM from Mammon88. Just flash like usual on top of this if you experience FC with the Gmail app.
Settings.apk (Power Controls widget themed as well as Settings menu)
And here is a list of the customization made by myself to the original theme:
Custom Status Bar background and full pulldown
Modified Mms icons
Lots of buttons
Too many more to list...
And now without further ado, here are the mirrors. There are two versions for you to download, one including the custom transition animations by located here, and the other without the animations.
This was designed around the ACS DK28 ROM created by k0nane and located here. Many of the apks in this theme were taken from the ROM. I cannot guarantee that this will work on other ROMs, mostly because I don't know what they have modified. I take no responsibility for what happens after you download this theme, the flashing process is in YOUR hands and you are the only one to be held responsible in the very rare event that something goes wrong.

Just so you guys know, this isn't compatible with Mammon's Bonzai ROM v1.0.1 - I got a huge stack of force close messages immediately upon boot that I couldn't get out of.
I did see that the vanilla lock screen is on there though - did you guys fix the problem with it returning to the TW lock screen when a message is received?
Thanks for the heads up.i was getting ready to flash it..currently on bonsai...would've been pissed...

I didn't even know this was an issue, but I just tried and it seems to stick to the AOSP lockscren. This was done by Dreamsforgotten, the resident theming guru if you will lol.
As for the Bonzai ROm, I have not ever flashed it so I can't guarantee compatibility. Try removing the "app" folder in the .zip file to see if it is an apk causing the issue.

That's worth a shot. Will try that now.
Nice. I am really liking this theme.
Running with no problems on EE rom.
Deleting the system/app folder worked, no more FC's on Bonzai v1.0.1
BTW since you have the only 100% working AOSP lock screen for DK28, could you post a non-themed version if you get a chance? That would be quite handy to have

Excellent, glad that did the trick, but now your missing out on all the themed apps lol. If you get a chance, I mean if you really have nothing better to do lol, try flashing the apps in the app folder 1 by 1 to see which one/s causes the issue. Tedious, I know no worries if you don't feel like it.
The AOSP lockscreen is controlled by android.policy.jar located in /system/framework. The images themselves are in framework-res.apk, so inserting this into a non-themed ROM would give you just the stock AOSP lockscreen. The modified android.policy.jar is in my .zip, and you are more than welcome to place this in a .zip file of your choice in /system/framework, which will give the AOSP lockscreen on basically any theme/ROM.

Excellent - I suspected the image files were separate but didn't want to start talking out of my you-know-what, thank you for explaining what files I need for the lock screen. I'll be happy to test the apps tomorrow and will report back. So I should just make a flashable zip for each indivdual app and flash through Clockwork, or is there a more efficient way like using root explorer to put them each in the app folder?

Very strange - when I installed the apps one-by-one using Root Explorer, I had no FC's except for GMail. My GMail is v2.3.2 and the themed Gmail is v2.3 - could that cause it to FC? I tried clearing data on GMail and it didn't help. Updating the app worked, but then of course it's no longer themed.

No, the Market is not themed.

Installation
This is a full aosp build and not just a theme. It is compiled from jt1134's source and is essentially a themed version of his vanilla froyo with a couple of additional mods by me (i.e. 5 locks, vvm providers, etc). It should go without saying that this is not a theme for eb01/tw based roms.
As far as installation is concerned....If you are already running aosp there should be no reason to wipe. Flash rom then flash themed google apps package below. If you are coming from a touchwiz based rom you should follow standard procedure. Wipe data/cache, flash rom, flash one of jt's kernels from here, and flash themed google apps package below.
Now that we have that out of the way, how bout some screenies.....

Features
- All the goodies from jt1134's aosp build
- Stock honeycomb ui that get's about as close to the real thing as possible (all the way down to the horizontal progress bars).
- All stock apps, app icons, and widgets have been themed to replicate the look of honeycomb.
- Toggle tab, rotary, 4tab, and rotary revamped lockscreens at your convenience in Spareparts.
- Options to hide directional arrows & unlock by pulling down on rotary lockscreen.
- Toggle visual voicemail provider defaults via call settings.
Update v1.5 3/28/11
- added Lense lockscreen and a better version of rotary revamped. This now gives the user 5 lockscreen options (tab, rotary, 4tab, rotary revamped, & lense). <--- cm code
- a few more updates to SpareParts to disable features depending on state of the lockscreen.
Update v1.4 3/25/11
- added 4tab and rotary revamped lockscreen options (cm code). These are toggled by choosing the custom app starter via SpareParts (see pic below).
- added options to hide rotary directional arrows & unlock by pulling down on rotary style (cm code).
- above options are configurable via SpareParts. Pic ----> http://db.tt/ClalMxp
- cleaned up the look of SpareParts to remove some of the clutter and tidy things up a bit.
- Few more minor image changes in framework-res.
Update v1.3 3/18/11
- updated with the latest features of jt1134's 0.9.3 build.
- added configurable visual voicemail providers option in call settings. Pic ------> https://dl.dropbox.com/u/10166395/snap20110321_110901.png . This strayed a bit from jt1134's approach, but he deserves a lot of credit for his gvm commits in contacts.apk which gave me a head start for adding the others.
- updated themed gapps with latest versions. removed themed facebook and twitter because they are updated every couple of weeks with newer versions. It's not worth it for me to try to keep them updated with themed versions.
- unblackedout the notification ticker in the statusbar as requested by several peeps.
- a couple more image changes in framework-res.apk.
Update v1.2 3/16/11
- resyned with jt's repo to include the new features of his 0.9.2 build (i.e. haptic feedback, etc.)
- remapped the voicemail button to default to google voicemail. This is now included in the build. Added optional download for anyone who would like to keep the stock configuration for some reason (*89).
Update v1.1 3/15/11
-added rotary answer phone.apk for those that may prefer it. adb push to /system/app or move to the directory with a file manager. also added the honeycomb ic_jog images that i forgot to include.
-fixed up a couple of app widgets that needed different font colors for legibility.
Credits
- jt1134 for the awesome aosp build and a lot of assistance/advice.
- omj for inspiring me to theme from source.
- haxzamatic for alot of the images. Most, whether they know it or not, are indebted to him for his initial port of the honeycomb theme found here.

Flashing the gapps zip caused problems for me last time I switched from AOSP 0.8.1 to SC2.9. Here's the procedure I recommend:
1. Copy gapps0312.zip to your SD card's download folder using a root-enabled file manager
2. Download Dual File Manager from the market (it doesn't appear to be root-enabled, hence the first step).
3. Open gapps0312 in Dual File Manager (no need to unzip - Dual File Manager will treat the zip file as a folder).
4. Go to system/apps/ (the one in the zip file, not the one on your phone ;-))
5. Select the apps you want to install. Dual File Manager will automatically try to install it.
6. If the app works on SC2.9, the "open" button will be enabled on the "installation complete" screen.

I noticed you used the old data bars but new wifi and battery, any reason for that?
I didn't like the way the new data bars so closely resemble the wifi bars. I like to be able to tell them apart. If I get enough requests I will gladly change them out, though.

Naice, thanks man.
Some apps have their option menus (pop ups) blacked out so I cannot see the options with this theme. For instance if I go to the gmail app and highlight an email and go change labels instead of seeing all my labels everything is black. This happened in desktop visualizer as well.

First things first. Thanks to all my testers, you were a great help.
FOR INFECTED ROM USERS
This is currently for the Infected ROM Senseless w/ power control mod This will install the mod if you dont have it already. If you dont want the power control mods delete the services.jar and framework.jar from the system/framework folder using 7zip.
Also, this pushes the widget.txt file to system/customize. Virus didnt set this up in his set up. This file will change your controls to wifi:BT:data:flashlight:brightness:sound you can edit this file to change these, or delete it from the zip to keep your toggles.
For BAMF 1.6.3 users
this was built on top of 1.6.3 nte, should work on all. Only difference in the screenshots for this is the dialer has a white inner not black. Couldnt get the xmls to play nice for white text. If anyone knows of a dialer with white text for the .605 ruu let me know.
For Thundersense users
Confirmed working on 1.5. Download the Infected Rom version. Confirmed to work on thundersense. I dont know what affect changing the framework or htc.resources apks has. Do this at your own risk.
If your daring, go ahead and give it a shot on any other ROM. Inform me if it works I will add it here.
With that said and a few peoples hopes crushed, I present my new theme. Well not just mine, its a colab with Will Johnson who resides in the X forums still.
Whats themed:
also png optimized and zip aligned to prevent degraded performance
Framework -duh
htc.resources - (this file is the spawn of the devil!)
services.jar/framework.jar - (if you dont want the power control mod delete these files) credit to sk806 [infected Rom only]
LauncherPro(updated today)
accountsyncmanager
browser
calculator
calendar
gmail
htccamera
htccontacts
htcdialer
htclockscreen (delete this once installed to get themed aosp)
htcmusic
mail
mediauploader
mms (stock htc mms, if you deleted stock for swype fix delete this before install)
phone
talk
market (2.3.6) (if themed market doesnt show up, go menu>settings>manage apps> market and uninstall updates, then rename/delete marketupdater.apk, then reboot)
DIFFERENT FONT!!! sonysketch - if you dont want your font changed delete this file in the zip
Bonus Apps pushed to sdcard/HC_addons/apps
Wireless tether
------
Pandora
Facebook
Twitter
all 3 of these have 2 versions. V1 is a transparent widget, v2 is a semi transparent widget seen in screenshots
Also pushed to the HC_addons folder
wallpapers
Icons and Dock backgrounds for LP
Swype Users
If you have the beta swype go HERE for the swype built for this theme. Thanks Morkai

And just like all my threads, questions, comments, concerns, suggestions are always welcome.
That looks so sick man. I'm currently running Virus. Gonna flash in a bit. Thanks a lot for the great themes!
Its pretty rare that I like a theme... but wow man... wow.
Congrats for getting it out the door. So much work goes into this....

this looks great!! i wish i wasnt on 2.3.4 already so i could flash this..
BAMF 1.7 gb should be out soon enough, please build it for that!
Will this work for both (sense or senseless) Infected Roms? Looks sick
I flashed it on the Senseless version of Virus Infected rom and I lost my phone dialer. Gonna try again in a bit. I cleared dalvik before flashing so I'm not sure what happened.
Sent from Zeus' Thunderbolt
I just flashed the sense version of Infected Rom last night & really like it, now this theme comes out & looks phenomenal but I only see senseless screen shots so I don't want to jump the gun
WOW, pretty nice theme!!! Can't wait for the BAMF version!
@Gunthermic - you hear all these people asking for that BAMF version right
Sorry, i excluded the part about it being senseless to the OP. Fixed that.
@Zombie - odd you lost your dialer, no one ever had that happen in testing. Let me know what happens
That's a great looking theme, very well done. Definitely going to grab the bamf version.

Just flashed this theme from CWM but I'm getting stuck at the boot up screen (is this a bootloop?). Is anyone else getting this? I was running VirusROM just fine before I flashed this.
Was I supposed to wipe the dalvik cache?

First boot up will take longer than usual. If it loops for more than 5 min do a battery pull and restart. This is built off Virus so no wipe should be needed. If it loops, you could try that and a reflash.
Still no go for me. I tried installing with Rom Manager this time (tried CWM last time) and I still don't have the phone app when it boots up. Not sure what's going on. Love everything else about the theme though. Great work.

Stupid me, I missed the part about it being for Senseless. I'm running the Sensed VirusROM, which must be why I was getting a bootloop.
Thanks for the help.

I can do an image swap but it wouldn't look right....
Probably won't have time to make a whole new set for a while.

Ok ill deff check it out.
Im having pretty big problems after flashing this theme, was boot looped (did a battery pull), and getting force closes all over the place (MMS and swype mostly and repeatedly). I installed exactly as per OP, just like every other theme, wipe cache 3x, dalvik 3x, install zip from sd card... and didn't have any other theme installed.

Yes try it out the mms should be fine it runs fine on the midnight based rom
the mms was an high resolution app that should not compress pictures when sending them and no bubbles.
*also im new to this basically and didnt have any testers so im learning too*
Finally, an orange theme. Willl give it a try.
I am on SRF 1.2 at the moment...it is most likely different framework from Midnight but I will still test it out to see if it plays nice...

EH17/EH06/EG22 Pulldown Animation with Scrollable Quick Panel
EH17/EH06/EG22 Pulldown no Animation with Scrollable Quick Panel
I've also ran this on EG22 roms as well.
Bugs: null/null on the lockscreen when the music player isn't running.
EH06: Tested on Stock Deodexed EG22 and EH06, Random Rom Hawk v2, and ERA Unnamed with no issues.
EH06: Tested on Urban Decay with one issue. You need to remove email.apk from the theme before you install it.
EH17: Make sure you are familiar with issues reported in Maddoggins mod thread and Crawrjs AIO thread.
EH17: Both Urban Vendetta & Hurricane Rom, Remove Talk.apk from the zip before installing. Both roms have the voice and video version which will cause fc's if the one from the theme isn't removed.
EH17 Lockmod Removal:
I didn't want to rebuild the whole theme just yet so it's a patch the keeps crt, battery mod, overscroll, and adds the scrollable quickpanel, but it has standard animations (I forgot to put the fly ins back in, sorry). It's made up of the framework-res.apk, settings.apk, and the 3 jar files.
Instructions:
This is made to remove from the theme so:
Flash v2.2 theme (If you're not already on it)
In the TSM parts settings: get your settings in there set the way you want. You won't be able to change these later.
Flash the patch.
You will now only have the Epic lock screen.
EH17 v2.3 Changes and instructions.
Wow, where to start with the changes this time around.
Thanks to maddoggin, we now have 11 lockscreen, and Mikey, you get your puzzle lock back in this version.
Blacked out gtalk w/Voice and video!
The transparent MMS is back.
Re did the progress bars to green as it is on Honeycomb.
Included the Voice command and Voice talk. Just awesome apps everyone should have.
I did not update the market yet. It was not cooperating with me at all. Also not including google + as that app is a royal pain in the a$$.
I would recommend you flash this on a fresh rom. Please do not post any issues until you try that.
Gmail or Gtalk fc's: If this happens, make sure there is only one installed in the system/app folder. If you do not know which ones to delete, delete both and reflash the theme. You can also fix plenty of fc issues by wiping the data on that app.

Thanks Shane, few ?'s
I still just want your icons on the notification only, such as the signal, wifi, and etc. Someone on a different thread gave me an answer as to what I needed, but i don't know if simply replacing the right files will brick my phone, or go through.. lol. I'm Deodexed on EG22. I also gave it more of a thought, as to I should just give the whole theme a shot, perhaps enjoying it for a while, would change my mind, I already have a nandroid backup, just wondering, is it just as simple to uninstall as it is to install? or Do I have to Nandroid Restore if I ever choose to remove the theme? Just like to tinker with things, I do appreciate your work. So much that I only want to take a piece of it, and apply it to my own custom experience. =P

You could just try flashing the systemui.apk for the signal bars, but the battery mod it in the framework and for that you'll need the .jar files.
To get rid of it, I would flash maddoggins stock 8lock mod and add the stock version of the apps I themed to the system/app folder of the zip.
Thanks
