[Q] Static sound? - HD7 General

I've had my HD7 for 12 days now but it wasn't until 3 days ago that I noticed a persistent static noise coming from the phone. It's not loud enough to be noticeable until I have the phone (screen side away, sound seems strongest very near the camera lens area) about 3 inches from my ear. It's constant though. The only way to make it stop is to fully power down the phone, but then eventually I'll notice it again.
Is it possible that I'm just oversensitive to sound and that is a normal operating sound that occurs after the phone has been running for a few hours?

I've had the phone for a day and I noticed something like this happening after I used the YouTube app. A battery pull fixed it however and I haven't run into the same issue.

how can we fix this??? it buggs me...it used to do that all the time then for a while it stopped....

[Q] Rear speaker buzz

Last night went to play a game on my NC running phiremod 5.1. While playing I turned the volume off and brightness down due to son sleeping. I then noticed this buzzing sound coming from the rear speaker, it then stopped when the screen went to sleep. So I turned the brightness back up and it went away, for the most part just a very faint "shhhhh" sound if I put it to my ear. I thought it may be something with mine being rooted, so I checked my wife's stock NC and it does the same thing.
So has anyone noticed the static, buzzing, or hissing sound from the rear speaker? Is there a fix for this or just something the NC does?

I just started noticing this with mine as well the last couple of days. Screen on = buzz, screen off = no buzz. Not sure what it is, but it can not be normal as I know mine has not always done this.
I'm also running phiremod and I just checked, my nookcolor also buzzes when the screen is on. I think this may be a problem with CM7, after putting it on my phone (Acer Liquid E) I've noticed that the speaker buzzes, it never did that before...
IIRC, this is already a known problem over in the devel area. They are working on fixing it (and may have but I haven't checked lately.)
I believe this was fixed in CM7 Nightly 61 (10 days ago) and onwards, so there shouldn't be any more speaker buzz when the screen is turned off.
This results in drastically better battery life while the screen is off. Before Nightly 61, battery use was 1% per hour with the screen off. I believe it's now down to 1% every 10 hours or so.
(There is speaker buzz while the screen is turned on but shouldn't affect battery life.)
I JUST upgraded to Nightly 74 from 7.0.2 this very morning, so someone correct me if this is not accurate?
There is no buzz when screen is off, only when on. I did not realize that my speaker was even making any sounds before yesterday and I have been runing CM7 off emmc for awhile now.
I thought it was nightly 64, but that's also my understanding of it.

[Q] Bell I9000M High-Pitched Screeching Noise

I've got a bit of a head scratcher on this one.
I've had my I9000M for a year and a bit now, and for the past month or so I've been putting up with this seemingly random 'screeching' sound it's been putting out. The best way I could describe it is the high pitched noise a CRT TV/monitor emits when it's turned on, but higher pitched than that. It's certainly irritating, especially when it wakes me up at night.
I can't pinpoint an exact time where this would occur - it starts and stops with a mind of its own it seems. I can be heavily using the device or not touching it at all. ROMs have zero effect - stock and CM-based ROMs all exhibit this noise.
Does anyone have any ideas why this would be occurring?
EDIT: This morning I went to check for messages, and found that my phone was off - turning it on caused some weird graphical glitches, then booting (showing the Galaxy S logo), and it appears to bootloop from there. Recovery and download modes are both impossible to reach, I don't have a USB jig so I can't test that however I'm doubtful.

Don't know what could be causing it but I too have this strange noise for about 10seconds when on the phone to someone.
It like a static discharge or something but it goes away after and its only been happening for the last month or two. I've had my i9000 for over a year.
Thankfully though no graphical glitches, sorry didn't mean to bump your thread without a solution.

[Q] Small Issues with Verizon G2 regardless of ROM

I am a new G2 owner (and frankly a new and inexperienced Android user), and have been noticing some small, but annoying, issues with any KitKat 4.4.2 ROM that I flash to my Verizon G2. I'm wondering if anyone knows of why they exist, possible workarounds, or any general solutions/explanations. So far, I have tried a CM11 nightly from last weekend, and an AOKP nightly from yesterday.
Most of the issues exist during a phone call, and still occur even when I have full bars of LTE service.
For one, speakerphone volume is pitiful. With the volume maxed, I can still barely hear people speak. Non-speakerphone volume is fine.
Secondly, the facial sensor does not seem to function at all. When I end a call, or pull the phone away from my face mid-call, the screen stays black and I have to double-tap the screen to turn it back on.
Thirdly, I get this weird "tapping" noise through the earpiece (not the speaker) of the phone when I'm on a call. It is definitely a sound that is on the phone, although I havent been able to find the file for it...it's almost like the sound the OTA makes when you tap-on or tap-off, or like a bubble popping (anyone know the Facebook Messenger notification sound? Very similar). I havent been able to pinpoint what causes the sound to play...no combination of moving the phone around or pulling it away from/putting it back towards my face prompts it or makes it stop...it just happens. It is not constant, but over the course of a 30 minute phone call, I will hear it at least a dozen times. It usually plays two successive sounds. People I'm talking to do not hear it...only me.
Are these just issues we have to live with? At first I thought it was CM11, but after getting the same exact issues with AOKP...I'm wondering what the deal is?
All are known and being worked on. They are minor bugs that most users can deal with or find work arounds

Weird noise coming from area near the earpiece even when screen off

My Mi 3 makes a weird noise near the earpiece around the area where the proximity sensor is located. It sounds like EMI or as if there are moving parts inside the phone. The sound is audible even when the screen is off and no calls are active. The occurance of the sound is random. But it will always make noise while the phone is booting. Sometimes it will last for a whole day. My phone is only 10 days old and not even dropped it once. Tried factory reset/ flashing a different rom, etc. It makes sound even in the recovery menu so I don't think its a software issue. Does anyone have this same problem ? Just try placing your ear near proximity sensor. I discovered it recently. Got a replacement but the replacement unit has the same problem !
Expriencing the same issue

[Q] Nexus 6 Audio Questions....

I just recently bought a Nexus 6, and not to long after I bought it my phones volume started to get very low. When I was on a phone call and switched to speaker, the phone starts the audio off as low, but then gets higher after a few seconds. Now when I listen to music or watch netflix, the audik starts off high at full volume, but then goes very low as if the phone had a Automatic Leveler. Is there anyone way to fix this ?

you are on stock? i didnt experience it on stock, but did on aosp. on aosp its a bug, that was fixed by a few developers.
Im pretty shocked by the nexus 6 speakers.
1. Speaker phone only works on the top speaker.
2. Anything from the lowest volume till about 2/3rds is nicley scaled then it just jumps in loudness in the last 3 to 4 clicks.
3. The stock sound is shocking bad ! Sounds like they forgot to balance bass and treble.
4. My headphone jace only seems to work with some jacks, an aux lead refuses to work in all 3 of my work vans and my old HTC headsets but works with iphone headsets and some of my aony headsets ( these all worked in my N5 )
5. Where the freekin' EQ ! Really google cant make a EQ letalone a good camera app !!!!
I am on stock. No root, no unlocked bootloader.
The funny thing is, when in place my hand over the front camera lens, and curved around the front, the volume goes back up as if there was a auto level function. If I take my hand off of that speaker, it goes back down because I am in a quite room. Something's not right with that..
I'm not rooted and I have similar issues. When I get phone calls or texts the volume starts out really low then gets high and I can't stand it. Seems to have just started doing this. Same thing when I'm talking to someone, I get a call, I answer it and I can barely hear them then 1 or 2 seconds later it's fine. Driving me crazy. Would love to get this fixed.
