Sorry about the cut/paste from the Google forums but it was easiest.
Since day one, My phone has had some weird link to Europe. The weather / news app that comes pre-installed on the phone constantly gives me European news. Even when I tried to change the news topics, they were all still from European sources (BBC news, Telegraph.co.uk etc). The sports tab is filled with soccer news instead of NBA playoff news.
The weather, however, shows correctly in the same app. It gives me my local weather.
So today something stuck out even more to me. I was trying to see what time my local Staples store closed. So I used the Voice Search function and said "Staples Sacramento California". However, I waited too long in between "Staples" and "Sacramento" and it cut me off, only searching for "Staples". The #1 Google search result? staples.co.uk
Just below it is "local results" which correctly listed my local staples store and phone number.
So I tried some more.
"Football" I said. Google search results: news.bbc.co.uk, football.co.uk, skysports.com/football
a google search on my home pc generates nfl.com as the #1 result for "football"
Some things I anticipate you guys asking: Under settings in the weather/news app, I have it set to use "my location". When I open the browser, the "my location" part works, correctly identifying where I am. The problem persists even if I have the GPS on. Also, its important to note that 2.1 had the same problem. This is not new behavior related to 2.2.
This is all making me wonder if my data is being routed through Europe or something. My speedtest.net results are WEAK. .79 down and .54 up. And thats with 3G and FULL signal bars.
Thanks in advance for your help!
You need to change your keyboard language settings.
Settings > Keyboard and Language > Select Language > English (US)
I had the opposite problem. I kept getting news from the US although I live in Ireland
PROBLEM SOLVED !!!
This works on my Bell Vogue, with Myn Warn Donut RLS5 on nand, to access Canada only apps such as the TD Bank app.
Get the application "market enabler" from here. I went to one of the linked download sites the author uploaded the app to.
Look up your 6 digit network code from this long list and enter it into the market enabler custom field.
Voila !

I am running Myn's warm donut on my Vogue here in Canada on the Bell Mobility network.
I wanted to install thhttp://code.google.com/p/market-enabler TD bank app, which is only available through the Canadian android market. I'm guessing because my ROM is based on a US carrier's ROM that I am accessing the USA android market. I can not find the TD bank app.
I tried the locale settings but English-Canada is not even an option.
I assume this issue is not limited to warm donut.
Is there a way I can get my phone to access the Canadian android market?
Thanks in advance.
the TD Bank App isn't available yet! It was on the marketplace a few days ago but it was only for a short time as it was released accidentally. I am on Bell and I saw the app using Myn's Warm Donut rom so when it is actually released you should be able to get it!
There is actually a news piece over at MobileSyrup about the TD bank app that talks about the release!

I did read several articles on it including that one. My understanding is that the app IS available now, even TD's website claims it is. What the articles said was that TD in error released their app to the global android market. When they realised this, they quickly withdrew it from the global market, and made it available only on the Canadian android market.
That is why several non-Canadian sites became aware of it, and likely how you briefly saw it using your Myn's warm donut ROM, until it was quickly withdrawn from the global market.
Here's the scoop from androidspin. com
The mystery of the vanishing app has been solved. To refresh, yesterday’s market-fresh apps post included a pretty nice looking app for TD Bank of Canada. An astute reader pointed out the app was now missing, so I put detective Matthew Cram of corporate and public affairs of TD Bank on the case. His answer is elementary:
The TD mobile app for Android is only available via the Canadian Android Market. There was a brief (one hour) window last week where our Android mobile app was mistakenly made available globally. I assume that’s when you saw it?
We hope to have a U.S. version of the TD mobile app for Android ready by late summer.
Cheers,

So anyone north of the border should still be able to find the TD app in their market, and it looks like us Americans will have a TD app of our own in a few months. Case closed!
installed the warm espresso theme and then a lot more regions were available in local settings !?
selected english canada, but still the us market
rebooted - still the us market - no td bank app
(I am in Canada on Bell)
anyone know how to change app market country?
Looking forward to this being figured out. I have myn's warm donut rls 5, wish i could get that TD app.

You are the man!, worked like a charm in Central America, thank you very much

Thanks for this advice, but the linked-to list doesn't show 6-digit codes. I see a 3-digit MMC and a 2-digit MNC. What 6-digit code are you referring to here?

We got a problem Hustom
Hi team,
I have a Galaxy S3 GT-I9300, Romanian SIM card, operator Orange.
Device is not rooted.
I Launch Market Enabler > Set Custom tab > and input the MNC and MCC for Italy, operator TIM (22201) > Set to this values
If I go to Settings List tab > long press [it]TIM > select fake this provider now, it is still showing "we got a problem Houston"
I tried with original SIM card in and out of the phone, and different combinations.
Why is it now working? what am I missing? (brains, i know.)
Thank you in advance,
Dan

This app doesn't work anymore.
Trying to decide whether to move from my Fuze to an Aria and there are some loose ends I want to tie up.
Is there a way to put cities not found on the Weather app on it?
Thanks, in advance.

There doesn't appear to be; at least not without some form of configuration file hacking (and even then, I'm only guessing it's possible).
When you setup the phone, it figures out where you are, based either on GPS or WiFi. The GPS option is more exact (and I'm guessing the location moves as you move), but it also consumes more battery.
The WiFi option determines where you are, based on the location/ISP of the most recent WiFi network that you accessed. When I set it up for the first time this morning at my home in South Berwick, ME, it came up with Rollinsford, NH (a bordering town) as my location.
So you essential get one "custom" weather city that's tied to your location, and a number of preset weather cities that you can choose from to flesh out the Weather app.
The locator is "exact enough" for my tastes. YMMV.

I have been using Google Navigation in ICS/GB, and in general it works fine.
However, everything I need to add a pass-by point or change destination, there is no quick way to do it.
Any voice-controlled GPS (not just to voice input the destination before the trip) available?
It fees like a no brainer feature to have, but yet not finding it anywhere on Android or IOs.
Thanks!
Hey all..
I got my wife a new 720 this weekend. But to my surprise one of the biggest features, Local Scout, isn't working.
Now everything is set to US, region and language etc. ..even the account is US, although it was UK first and after signing in from the phone I made it US.
It shows the LS icon on hitting search button but then it says "Nothing to show" or something like that on the screen ...anyone got local scout working in India? Can anyone help me please? Thanks...

Local Scout has not been available outside of the US/UK. In some countries it still displayed data if set to one of those regions but as it appears there isn't any for India. You might try to use Nokia's Here City Lens as an Alternative but aside from that I don't really have an idea on how to solve this given that it seems that Microsoft simply has no data for India.

Strange u know.. It worked on WP7. I don't know what made them "Switch off". Also, if I set everything to US, will it work?
Thanks for your reply...
