Hi!
I have a question.
I got the HTC Legend, with stock 2.2 FroYo, Unbranded and unlocked.
Question is, how do I change the lock-screen?
I don't like Sense UI and disabled that, BUT still got the Sense UI lock-screen, not the FroYo (right to left) lock-screen.
So, again, how do I get that to work?
thanks in advance
// Martin
Could get widgetlocker from the market...other than that custom roms...only thing I know to tell you...im sure there are other ways im unaware of. Hope this helps.

thanks bunchdx.
Had that, didn't work as I wanted, but I mean, the Sense UI on HTC's devices have a lock screen that goes up, and down.
I have disabled the Sense UI and I am running Android like the nexus one, wich is stock android. BUT the only thing that is Sense still, is the lock screen.
I mean, it can't be that Android FroYo has got the Sense UI lock screen.
I want the stock lock screen..
if you know what I mean..
// zajko
If you're not a Sense guy just flash a AOSP ROM.
Other than that: Idk. How did you disable the Sense lockscreen to start with?

Naa, I have the stock rom, just disabled the Sense UI and am currently running a clean Android, except for the lock screen, that is still Sense UI lock screen.
is it no way to get rid of that besides flashin a custom ROM onto that..
the google nexus one doesn't have the sense ui lock screen, so why can't I get that on my legend, it is the same system.. Or am I off track?
cheers // zajko

So by "disabling" Sense you've installed a different launcher? (LaucherPro, ADW, etc).
You gotta flash a different ROM. You're running a Sense ROM. It doesn't contain the Froyo lockscreen. Flash an AOSP ROM and you'll get it.

yeah got the LauncherPro..
Ok, then I was a bit off track, thought that all sense ui stuff was disabled.
but I disabled the sense ui before I got the launcherpro installed.
That is why I was under the impression that it should be disabled.
Damn, so I need to downgrade, root, upgrade and flash another rom..
bummer... hehe..
thank you for the explanation of that..

The lockscreen is not launcher dependent but ROM dependent. I can understand your thought pattern though You don't actually "disable" Sense you just choose to use LPP as your 'standard' launcher.
Rooting and flashing shouldn't be that hard. It's all worth it in the end, hehe.
- Ikke noe problem ^^,

Aaaah, then I am back on track..
yeah well, never had problems doin stuff like that, but, it is my baby..
It seems harder then it is I guess..
Wich is the easiest way to root a HTC Legend?
that is downgrade, upgrade and flash rom right?
that is alot of hazzle..
But, I don't need a gold-card if I understand it right, cuz my device is unlocked and unbranded..
anyways, thanks in advance..

I don't have any experience with the Legend. But a good tip is set aside some time to root your phone.
Use an hour to read rooting guides, twice - Then start the rooting.
This thread has a lot of useful information: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=747890 - So check that out.
I doubt you need a gold-card or anything like that.

If you have root, you have to delete HTC_lockscreen.apk in /system/app via adb.

you can try lock bot => http://www.appbrain.com/app/lockbot-free/com.jackdoit.lockbotfree
idk if you need root for it , you can choose a theme or fast create a new one , and then you can select style => froyo
hope this helps

I really love the new extra of HTC Legend, that thing that you can see all the screens of sense pushing only the home button.
I'm searching for that, because i've got a Sense rom with legend theme but there isn't that function.
There are some app o mod or something like that, that can do this without flashing a new rom?
Thankyou for advance!
PD: apologise for my english, I know it's a rubbish but i'm doing my best jajaja

Both LauncherPro Beta and ADW Launcher in the market have this feature.

ADW Launcher is for Android 1.6 and up.
Launcher Pro is for 2.0 and up.
If you want a fully functional HTC Sense or Stock Android 2.1, just root your hero and flash one of the Android 2.1 ROM in the Hero/G2 section.
Look at me, I'm rocking a fully functional Android 2.1 even though Google abandoned the 1st gen stock android phones.
Hey gang,
I just bought a used HERO for my mother and would like to root it and load a custom rom. I will follow this guide to root it : Step By Step Way to root Using Flashrec(Updated 4/5)
I need some advice on a good clean rom though.
Below are my 'wanted features' in a rom.
Android 2.1
HTC Sense
stable (no need for constant reboots)
App2SD
good battery life
NOT overclocked
NOT themed (she just wants what she sees in the commercials. Stock look and colors)
keyboard with voice input (she sucks at typing and just wants to "talk to text")
LWP (optional but she probably won't use)
I looked at the rom area... and got lost with all of the choices.
She will never change a single setting once it is configured for her.
she just wants an "Android".
Thnx!
Everything except that stupid Blue Echo Rom, that thing is horrible

I don't follow you...
Please link me to a ROM that fits her needs (if that exists)
Try nfinitiefx45 stock 2.1 deodexed or damage control 2.09.01
Sorry I can't link from the xda app.
Also, if the phone already has 2.1 on it, there is a new rooting method. If it has 1.5, flashrec should work fine.

+1 for nfinitefx45's stock ROM. but get the odex version since you won't be using themes
Fresh is also a good option with slight visual tweaks (uses HTC Espresso launcher + vanilla lock screen)
of the 2 i'd guess the nfinitefx ROM is more stable since it's closer to stock, but I honestly haven't tried fresh.

My sig says it all....
(although DD is on a new version now... and does not have sense, but with a few simple flashes, who needs it?)
(PS, LWP sux, will not work on most roms (ie, not sticking on standby), and a batt drain, and slows sys down. dont bother.)
(PPS, after re-reading your OP, I am wondering why you are looking for a custom rom at all? b-sides the lwp thang, stock has all that, no theme, stable. root is good for a few extra things and I recommend it, but perhaps use a stock rom for stability and consistency....?)

No you didn't follow them EXACTLY. The installation is designed so that errors can't occur if the user does it properly. Are you using CWM?
Well since you think you're so god damn perfect and that you couldn't have made a mistake you obviously don't need our help. Obviously it must be a problem with MIUI
If you just want a faster phone, you should try just running JVB stock. That is by far the fastest ROM I've tried so far. And yes; I've tried MIUI.
And if you want it even faster you should try CF 3.1.

It works very well for people who like sense!
Yeah just downloaded it and about to give it a shot. I hope I dont screw up my phone. Never done this before.
I just figured it would be easier to add the stuff to an existing rom rather than flash a complete custom one.
Cheers

I personaly don't like the Sense 3.0 to much animation which gets kind of boaring after some time and sucks performance and battery!
Just my oppinion
well, with a Nabdroid Backup you should ot be worried to try a new ROM as you can always go back!
I tried the first relase of the Cyanogen ROM and that's the one for me so far.
I already liked the stock ROM on the Nexus S - but not the device itself.
So the Cyanogen ist very close - but better!
Is it easy to do? the instructions seem simple enough. I have made a back up of my existing rom, so if something goes wrong I can re flash my original rom and be back to square 1 correct.
Correct - it is a full image.
You go back exactly to the point where you created the recovery.
I love this feature - it makes it possible to try out a different ROM without loosing all the work you did on the ROM.
Last thing before I do it. It says to do a full wipe? Is this done in the recovery menu? do I do wipe data/factory reset as well as wipe cache partition?
Or is this a different thing all together?
Cheers
PAt
A wipe data/factory reset is sufficient. People will say do it three times, but you only have to do it once.

Im really just after the lock screen and the weather widget. The other stuff imnot fussed about.
The resolution on the unity rom is a bit funny. It all functions great tho.
I tried the android revolution HD and that worked except for the market wouldnt download.
Is there a way to just flash the lock screen and widgets to a stock un modified virgin au ROM?

Would HIGHLY recommend this ROM:

There's nothing different to the Stock Rom apart from the fact it runs alot more smoothly.
You then install this:-
•HTC Sense 3.0 "All in 1" (version 0.3) for Android Revolution HD 1.0.x
And voila - Sense 3.0
Thats the one I had and the market didnt work, formated and flashed it 3 times.

Hello
It's been a while since I've got my htc one and I was waiting for the release of the stock 4.3 firmware before going into the custom world. Unfortunately, it's been quite some times now and I'm pretty tired of waiting.
So which rom should I take as a daily driver.. I'd like to be able to control tv (so I think I need to look into stock based roms?)
I'd also like to put a custom kernel and to be sure there is no problem betwen the rom and the kernel
So I was thinking about Android revolution and elementalx (no **** ahah) or can you suggest some?
is there a big chance that android revolution will be updated to 4.3?
(I'm still on 4.1.2)
Thank you!
Ps. What's s rev-on?
This thread's probably going to get closed because some people here are a little sensitive about people asking for ROM suggestions, but before it does... I LOVE ARHD and Elimentalx kernel lol. They're both super srabel, which on a phone like this with its awesome stock set up is a necessity for me... There's just no incentives for me to flash a custom ROM that's gonna be anything but perfect when stock is so close to perfect itself...
I get great battery life, performance, and stability. So that's my suggestion
And if you're talking about s-on, that means that certain partitions of your internal memory are still locked... You can still flash a custom rom, but you wouldn't be able to update your firmware or anything like that without getting s-off first.

You can update your firmware without S-Off. Android Revolution is stable because it's boring, just like stock. I'd recommend Viper Rom due to the vast customisation options, and it's just as stable. As for the kernel, stock kernel is best for most people. It's the perfect blend between battery and performance. Custom kernels such as ElementalX overclocked to 1.8/9GHz will give better performance but will drain your battery faster.
Everything can be done without S-Off. All S-Off is good for is changing your CID, MID, removing tampered from boot loader, and easily unlocking/locking without wiping anything or alerting HTC to your request of an unlock token.
the best rom is stock and the best kernel is stock. you sound like a man who will end up with a brick so i'd stick with stock

I flashed viper and messed around with it for a couple days and it was just a little too stuttery and I had apps force closing every once in a while... Tried a clean wipe, and still a couple problems.. Nothing huge or intolerable, I just value performance over the colorful theming and fun appearance settings of viper, but that's just my opinion and experience ... Everyone is different.
And I wouldn't worry about bricking... Being stuck on 4.1 sucks lol so if you wanna stay close to stock, arhd with stock kernel is the way to go. As long as you stay s-off and don't mess with your hboot (and always read read read before you do anything) you'll be fine.

if you want no problems then you have to stick to stock kernels and rom.
android revolution is just another fancy name of a stock rom with minor tweaks Incorporated from other developers (such as APM). so thats the only rom which might fit your needs and has stock kernel too. actually there is nothing which is revolutionary in that rom... lol.

the best rom is stock and the best kernel is stock. you sound like a man who will end up with a brick so i'd stick with stock

I found this extremely funny. Anyways, I suggest getting ARHD with its stock kernel. Personally, I like GE roms but I cannot overclock on 4.3 because elementalx is not out .

Thank you for your reply ahah
Well so I'm like a noob because of my poor skills with english then...
I don't mind going with miui or cm10.. but I really love the remote control app ahh
Also, I want to do the s-off thing because.. I'd like to install ubuntu when it will be stable enough ahah
And i'd like to have the s2w function
Oh! I'm also very tired of the touch menu button on the bottom of many app... Dunno if stock have solved this tough.
Thanks again!

lol.. and miui .. cm and ubuntu will never be stable.
cm is just for flasholics.. and it might not fit your needs
i doubt miui will ever be stable on this phone and ubuntu is just out of question.
stick with stock, enjoy life and have beers.

yeah ok if the OP REALLY wants to do it and knows what he's getting into, then id recommend ARHD.
i'd recommend S-OFF first, then it gives options later
So Ubuntu touch will never be good on this phone :/ sad news ahah
Okay... I'll stick with stock roms then or arhd... I do like aosp roms too... But since nobody suggested one.. seems like I need to use stock to fully use this phone.. another sad news ahah...
Nofrills vs setcpu?
Anyway.. thank you then..

get S-OFF first, then you can try ARHD 12.3...
and if you want logo2wake then i recommend tbaldens 2.1.5 kernel
I'm surprised my thread isn't closed yet.. but I'm happy since the htc one world is very different from the xperia ahah
and.. well ahah I didn't s-off since the only reason for me to s-off was to get ubuntu someday :/
Anyway, such a big difference in rom size vs the xperia play ahah 150mo for xplay vs 1go o,o
Thank you everyone for your reply
what's for S-OFF ? is it mandatory for installing custom rom ?
what's kernel ? what's the function, sorry for noob, I've read quite a lot threads on xda explaining this, but I don't get it in a simple way ??
still confuse....
