Overclocking issue - Motorola Droid and Milestone General

So when ever I try to install the boot img to get my droid up to 800mhz it never leaves the Moto symbol. I'm running 2.2.1 stock, rooted with the more current Clockworksmod recovery. Any ideas?

What r u referring to when u say "boot img"? Did u install a new ROM or Kernel?

It's just the boot part of a nandroid backup.

bump? bump?

Hi, I'm getting the same problem. I used the z4root to root, running FRG22D ver. 2.2. I have no problems using my cpu tuner but want to oc. Any suggestions?

You don't need to install the boot.img from a nandroid. Just download an overclock kernel and then install thru clockwork like you would a ROM. If you're using SPRecovery make sure to rename it update.zip, this should solve your problem.

Need a Rom

I need ROM to flash with Odin. Clockwork thing is not working for me and all the modded rom's are clockwork oriented. I am actually dying to install cynogen. Off late they stopped releasing odin versions. Somebody please suggest some rom better than the stock Froyo which is flashable using odin.
My phone is rooted and unlocked.

Exactly i am in leaked froyo ji6. I rooted it.
You have two options. Swap in a kernel that has 2e recovery or flash back to stock and then flash the rom of your choice.

What he said. I would use odin to flash stock

The version you are on had a recovery that prevents you from using clockwork

[Q] Unable to get into Clockwork recovery

Hello Guys Hopefully somebody will be able to help me out. I have recently updated my Captivate to Froyo and re-rooted it with no issues. I have sense attempted to make a backup from cwm recovery and I am not able to get to it only just the stock recovery mode. I reinstalled cw recovery and that didn't work so I reinstalled rom manager and reinstalled cw recovery to no avail couldn't get into it. So i rolled back to 2.1 thinking it may be an issues with 2.2 even though I was sure how it was possible and im back to square one. I am still unable to get into cw recovery. yes the phone is fully rooted and i have also did a fix permissions and it completed sucessfully and tried to reinstall and it still doesnt work. Anybody got any suggestions?
Thanks
You either have to switch kernel our flash back to stock then load a custom rom.
You should be able to swap kernels using
Sgs kernel flasher app from market, or odin. You would have to figure or which kernel you want to use

clockwork recovery bootstrap kernel

I installed the vzw boot strapper from the market which installed a different kernel. is it possible using the backup it made to restore the kernel I had before? there is just too much broken in this one so I woukd like to go back to the stock vzw + update so I can get bluetooth working again.
thanks.

*EDIT: I'm guessing no, since clockwork did the filesystem conversion? So I guess I need to return to stock

[Q] Can't boot into CWM?

Could someone please tell me what the trick is to getting into Clockwork on my Bionic? I rooted it, installed CWM (Premium) from the market, and then from within CWM I flashed the custom recovery by picking the Bionic model from the menu.
Now when I try to reboot into recovery to do a Nandroid, etc. The phone just reboots instead. Do I need to install the bootstrapper or something else over the top or in place of CWM?
Thanks, please advise.

I've seen this before. Try flashing cwm again and boot into recovery. If that doesn't work get the bionic bootstrapper and flash that. If that gets you into recovery. Good. But I would flash cwm via rom manager again.

The problem is you're not using the bootstrapper. It's required.

Thanks!
That clarification did the trick. It wasn't immediately clear to me the bootstrapper was required. Thank you guys.
