One of the things that allow human beings to perceive things in three dimensions (3D) is the depth of field. When you focus on something that is close, the objects in the background become out of focus. This lets our mind know which object is close and which is farther away, and hence capture the right dimensions for the object. It is not possible that out mind focuses both near and far objects at the same time.
With this tip, we will guide you how to make the icons on your Android phone appear more 3D by moving the background wallpaper to a more unfocused and blurred state, with the result that icons appear to float above the wallpaper.

The tools needed for this process are very basic: the desired wallpaper, and Adobe Photoshop Express for your Android device (we will use Photoshop Express in this guide as it is available free on Android Market, but you can use any image editor of your liking).
To begin, launch Photoshop Express and open your desired wallpaper in it. (You’ll need to uncheck ‘Show camera photos only in Phone view’ to be able to see all photos)
Next, you need to soften the image’s focus. Go to Menu > Edit Photo and select the third icon from top bar. You can soften the image by just sliding your finger across screen. The maximum it goes is till 20, which we find to be working best. However, you can set it to any value of your liking, Once you have attained the desired softness, save the image. (It will not overwrite the original but instead save as a new file)
That’s it. Set this new image as your wallpaper, and the icons will appear more 3D due to the difference in focus. The screenshot above does not do justice to it, but we tried it on Samsung Galaxy S, and the brilliant SuperAMOLED display works wonders with this technique. Give it a try on your own device and let us know how it worked for you.

Uh, this only works when you use the Tilt-Shift effect. Blurring the background only makes it look like you have a blurry background. What you did does not give the 3d effect sorry.

I have seen some pretty bad wallpapers here lately and after seeing this horrendously stretched out photo on my g/f phone that was tiled when in landscape view, I thought it might be helpful to post a small tutorial on how to make a background correctly.
About the template:
As you most likely know the Kaiser has a QVGA screen (240x320) and 154dpi resolution. The dpi setting makes a big difference in the quality of the final image. This template is setup for 320x320 with 154dpi.
How to use the template:
1. open "Tilt Wallpaper Template.psd" in photoshop
2. turn on the guide lines by going to View --> Show --> Guides
3. Find a nice image on the net then right click and copy it
4. highlight the image layer in photoshop
5. click edit paste
6. now just move and resize the image till it fits the screen
a. remember to keep to aspect ratio of the original image.
b. click the view layer box (the eyball) next to "Landscape preview" and "Portrait preview" to see what portrait and landscape versions of your wallpaper will look like.
c. OPTIONAL (This creates either a 240x320 or 320x240 image this is only useful when making backgrounds for programs that don't support 320x320 images like S2U2) when you have your image all lined up enable the "Landscape preview" or "Portrait preview" depending on what you want and select image --> trim --> "top left pixel color" --> ok. This will trim the image to the desired size.
7. now save the image as an PNG and you are done. (I find PNG to load faster than JPEG's on the homescreen)
**note:
You can set a 320x320 reloution image as the wallpaper and then the image won't tile in landscape view. 320x320 is usually the best choice for an wallpaper size.

Thanks for the template -- photoshop here I come...
i have been looking around the net for this for a while a but i can't find what i'm looking for. i think it would be nice if there was a program that auto hid the on the screen such as the contact and phone buttons and the start bar on the normal phone screen and more or less the same ones on touchflo 3d for the reason if you wanted just see the calender and the call history on the touchflo 3d and the stuff on the normal screen like your widgets and then when you want to use the bars you could move your finger or stylest to the area of which they where and they would pop up and this program would be cooler if it also adjust the background picture to the size of the screen if it was to big to see the whole picture on the screen, so that you can see it. if it is too hard to put those two things i one program put them in separate ones.
Yeah sounds good. Maybe instead of hiding the icons and stuff just make them transparent and when your finger touches them they can light up or have the color for the icon come back?.. I’ve seen a few people working on making transparent clocks so I don’t think that should be too hard.
that is good but i wanted to make this so that you could see the whole background and the picture that is in my background
What you are asking for is pretty much already a reality in 2.1 and 2.5 Sense manila with the addition of Max Manila Mod.

With the different options in fullscreen. I'm currently running the latest Energy ROM he has remapped the home key to do what it is supposed to, bring you back to the home screen. With it in fullscreen if I press the home key it will bring up the topbar for a second or two, just long enough to be able to press it to get to the notification page. As far as pressing where the calendar or alarms tabs should be will not bring up the pages. You would have to either scroll to the options to turn them back on for a second or just go to the calendar tab. Alarms you can still get to by tapping the clock to get to world clock settings then just go to the alarm tab at the bottom.
And so I came back with my 1st non-homebrew application and I called it WindowsPhone3D.

So what is WindowsPhone3D?
Firstly, what are the types of stereo 3D? I know most of you already know these types of stereo 3D but let's make sure everyone understands it.
Anaglyph
- Anaglyph images are used to provide a stereoscopic 3D effect, when viewed with glasses where the two lenses are different (usually chromatically opposite) colors, such as red and cyan
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anaglyph_image
- WindowsPhone3D has 5 anaglyph rendering types
-- True
-- Gray
-- Color
-- Half Color
-- Optimize
ref: http://3dtv.at/Knowhow/AnaglyphComparison_en.aspx
Cross Eye (Stereogram)
- stereogram is a pair of two-dimensional panels depicting the view of a scene or an object from the vantage points of the right and left eyes
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stereogram
Wiggle 3D
- Wiggle 3D addresses a fundamental goal of still photography: to take a three-dimensional world, capture and then present it in two dimensions, and make viewers believe that they are seeing the original scene in three dimensions
http://www.adorama.com/alc/article/11780
thank you wiki and adorama
So WindowsPhone3D does all this for you.
How to use this application?
1. WindowsPhone3D launches
2. Goes to Cross Eye page
3. click the Left arrow to select or capture an image from your image collection or from the camera.
4. click the Right arrow to select or capture an image from your image collection or from the camera.
How to view Cross-Eye images?
- here are the tutorials how to do it
- http://www.starosta.com/3dshowcase/ihelp.html
- http://www.wikihow.com/Cross-Your-Eyes
How to view Anaglyph?
- just get/make a red/magenta goggles
How to properly capture stereoscopic image?
Just like that
here's the short video of the application. Sorry but the application is in landscape orientation
here's the XAP file download
WindowsPhone3D.XAP
:-(
Thank you - but the downloaded file is only 550 bytes and so the link maybe broken?

thanks for reporting that back. I updated the first post and I just hosted the XAP file directly to my website.
I saw 40+ downloads and they never reported the error.
Thank you. It's working now...
Tested the app - very nice.
I like the "wiggle"-effect but it's hard to get the proper perspective for the 2nd photo.
Thank you
When you read a review post on the web or watch a review video on YouTube of a certain smartphone, the reviewer will probably spend time commenting the white balance performance of the camera. But what is white balance exactly and why we need it on our smartphone camera?
White Balance
The color of the object looks different from their intrinsic color in different light environment, and white color changes the most significantly. For example, a piece of white paper looks a bit yellow under the light from a filament lamp, and looks a bit blue under the blue sky. Our powerful eyes can correct the color cast caused by different light environment, so we seldom notice the changes and feel good. Hence we can say that our eyes have the ability of Auto White Balance. Cameras need such feature as well, otherwise the pictures can look quite awful.

Adjust white balance on smartphones
When we take a phone, the smartphone camera automatically performs white balance, which we call it Auto White Balance (AWB). Most of the time, AWB works perfectly and the color of the picture looks accurately. But occasionally, it does not meet our demand precisely or we have a different from normal demand. Then we need to adjust the white balance manually in the camera APP. Below picture taken with different white balance setting show us that we can take very different photos by adjusting the parameter of white balance.
It is easy to have above different white balance setting done on our smartphone. For example, on our smartphone, open the camera APP, choose to use the Pro mode. And we can see the “AWB” logo as shown in below screenshot.
Thanks for reading my very first post! Any ideas or suggestion, please feel free to leave a comment below.
Congratulations for this first message!
This looks to me as an original contribution from you, as I couldn't find on Internet a content exactly like yours... whereas sometimes people post messages containing the same text taken from the Internet pretending it's their work...
Hi. Just noticed on my S21 Ultra I don't have the 'face' icon in my gallery app after you click edit (the pencil icon). On One UI 2 it used to have a face icon at the bottom where if you selected it, you could remove blemishes, red eye, etc - I think it was called a 'spot fixer'. Has this been removed now on one UI 3.1? It was only launched as an update in April 2020 from doing a Google on it. Have attached a pic showing it next to the T icon on the toolbar.

In photo editing mode, just keep on sliding from left to right on the option bar and you will find the face icon with all options including spot remover (blemish).

Thanks for the reply. I definitely don't have this on my S21, do you? From left to right in photo editing mode I have crop, filters, brightness/contract etc adjustments, emoji, drawing tool, and finally text option - i have seen examples (like the one I posted in my original message) the face icon after the text option, but this doesn't appear on mine. So, I guess is it just mine or does anyone else's S21 have it missing too?
Just to add a friend of mine has a Note 10 on One UI 3 and the face icon is not there either, but it was on One UI 2, so it looks as if this has been removed (for some reason) unless anyone can say any different.
have it on mine. obviously make sure there is a recognizable face in the pic, otherwise it doesnt show.

Yeah you're right, just tried taking a new selfie and its there, but it doesn't show on certain other pics (even if the face is clearly visible, and in fact the face is the the main part of the photo).... but ok, I appreciate your help.
is someone actually using the photo editor from the initial software? omg, I usually download some apps to make my photos look beautiful
