ADW Launcher Question - I screwed up! - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I wasn't paying attention earlier today and was trying to remove an Icon from my home screen. I am running the new version of Cyanogen ROM.
Not used to the "Delete" area being on top of the screen. So, when I went to delete the icon off of the screen, I in fact moved it into the section of ADW where the "App Drawer" is located.
So now I don't have access to my app drawer. I have "Phone / Dumb Icon / Browser" instead of "Phone / App Drawer / Browser"
How in the heck do I get the app drawer back in the middle???
I tried to do a "Restore" of ADW Lancher, but I've never made a back up of it.

Long press home screen>Custom shortcut>Pick your activity>Activities>ADW.Launcher>ADW.Launcher(Open/close app drawer)
Drag it back to where you want it

THANK YOU!
Sorry for the trouble.

I think I've seen more threads on this subject than I've seen on Gingerbread! xD

LOL, yeah. I got rid of the open/close app drawer altogether and have a swipe up action to open my app drawer. This way it give me one more shortcut on the dock anyway.

Same thing happened to me last night. Took me an hour to figure out how to get it back. LOL

[Q] How to change app drawer icon?

I have searched and searched to no avail, and one of these days one of my posts won't be a question.
How in the pooping heck can I change the app drawer icon in Launcher Pro or ADW? I tried it the way I remember doing it a while back with Desktop Visualizer, but there isn't a "launch applications" or "app drawer" -type action to choose from for the drawer icon.
Any help would be appreciated, and if I'm posting in the wrong place, I apologize in advance.

Just long-press on it.
It should pop up with three options, including "Change Icon" choose Custom, if you have another icon for it, on your SD card.
Thanks for the near-instant response! Is this for LP or ADW?

Adw and CM 6.1 RC2 dock help!

OK so I just updated to the new cm release canadate and I love it!
Only problem is that when you delete things from the home screens you now bring it to the top of the screen instead of the bottom to delete it. Well I was re-doing my home screen and accidentally dropped my messaging app in the place were the adw launcher should go (dock at bottom of screen). So now I can't get into my apparently drawer
How do I put adw back onto my dock?
Also is there a way to lock them in place?
Thanks in advance

Long press on the home page> custom shortcuts> launcher settings> open/close app drawer.
Drag the new icon to the dock bar...

Thanks for the tip man.
I knew it was going to be something simple
haha I did the same and re-flashed the rom...
later I figured out the solution, same as it in second post

Landscape launcher?

Anyone know of a launcher that orients the dock to the bottom in landscape? I've tried adw, launcher pro and zeam but none seem to have the option unless I'm missing it.
+1
I always wondered about this but never thought to post here. Thanks for reminding me.
Well here is one option. In ADW (I'm using EX but I'm pretty sure the unpaid app does the same) go into settings, UI settings, main dock, main dock style and choose the no icon option. Now, go back to your home screen and create a 'launcher action' shortcut that open and closes the app drawer. You'll have to make one for every screen you have ... or not. For a while i only had one on my main screen so there was more room on the others.
Yeah, that's what I am doing now (adw w/out dock). I was just looking for a sticky dock with maybe some eye candy.

That's a pretty slick idea.
Thanks!
I just use the swipe down action to open the app drawer. This way I have no dock on screen and can get to the drawer from any of my screens. I'm using ADW free version.

Exactly, though I prefer swipe up for and down for notifications. That way you can even hide the status bar.
Power Launcher Pro has landscape mode with the dockbar at the bottom.

A few questions

Hello,
I bought the Galaxy recently, and changed his rom.
Rom comes with Launchrpro, and I am very satisfied with it.
But I want to stay with the original rom menu (TW). is this possible?
In addition, I want to get the applications menu in folders.is this possible?
Thanks
I don't know which rom you are using but if that rom gives you both option then go to
settings> application> manage application> choose TW> set default (you can clear defaults too)
Hope this works for you.
There are custom roms that offer touchwiz, and you can always install it afterwards too (e.g. From apk found off the forums, or via sgs tools app).
Doc rom kitchen is a great place to start.
The app menu is launcher specific, afaik there aren't any that allow you to arrange your apps into folders, and launcherpro is the only one that lets you hide icons.

Tnx but I know that I can switch to TW.
I want to stay with Launchrpro and replace just the menu like TW.

What menu are you talking about? (screenies would be nice)
The first picture(left) is the menu I want to go back to.
This second picture menu I have now, in the launcherpro
I wish to keep launcherpro because of the comfortable home screens.
That menu is called app drawer a part of the launcher and what you want I believe not possible with launcherpro. If you want the horizontal scrolling + menu in app drawer I mean. You are better off with another launcher. Like ADW launcher or some modified TW.
As near as I can tell, what you are showing in the first pic is the TWLauncher homescreen, while in the second you are showing the App Drawer in LauncherPro.
It is easy to reproduce a similar homescreen in Launcher Pro. On your main screen, just press the button to open your App Drawer (the thing shown in your second picture). The press and hold the icon for an App you wish to put on your homescreen. Your view will switch to your homescreen, with a garbage can at the bottom. Position the icon where you with it, or drop it into the trash and start again. Once you have everything on the first homescreen that you want, go to the second screen, reopen the App Drawer, and add apps just as you did before.
You can control the number of homescreens you have, and which opens by default, from the Launcher Pro Preferences menu.

As you can see if you look closely BOTH pics are app drawer . Look first pic, grey bar down (home screen has it black) and Home button which doesnt exist in the homescreen since there is the Applications button
To OP look what I wrote you up . Or you could kinda put all yours apps on your homescreen like rschenck said.
Try Go Launcher, free in market. It lets you have the "side swiping" app drawer/menu

Quite right, my bad...been a while since I used the TWLauncher.
OP, are you asking to be able to horizontally scroll through apps, or to have buttons for Phone and other key tasks on the same page as all your apps?
I am still thinking that you can either jury rig a solution using Pro, or as Pagot suggests, try other launchers, there are lots of good ones out there...ADW, Pro, GO, Zume, plenty of others.

How to hide icons and get your ap drawer back

Editing since I found a solve for the issue I wanted to share. I didn't see this posted anywhere else
How to hide an app on a homescreen
Pinch two fingers together, put them on a homescreen, and swipe them apart. This will open something called the Hidden App Drawer. Hit the + sign to add apps to it. Any apps in here will not show up on your other homescreens. Go ahead and hide everything you don't want
Add app drawer
There are a few apps in the appstore that gibe you an app drawer, I got the one called AppDrawer (MIUI App Drawer). Install that, then drag the icon down to bottom row. Viola, you have an app drawer, and I confirmed that aps you hide via the method above still appear in the app drawer.
Hope others find this helpful

Got a new P8lite today, US Version. Holy cow does EMUI suck ass. Is there any way to hide an icon from a home screen? I press and hold and drag to the trash can, but that uninstalls it.
I have to be missing something I can't in 2016 a smartphone for retail purchase would not be able to remove an icon from a screen

Yeah, thats not happening. Third party launchers always end up having some functionality of integration issues.
I've had this phone 2 hours and already packed it up fora return. It's a shame really, the hardware is nice, but EMUI is like a master class on how to **** up a user interface. I wish manufacturers would get with the program, build a good device, put stock android on it, and leave it the **** alone
