I can see the linkedin app at the accounts & sync menu, but i can't get the options to integrate it with my contacts as described in the article on the main XDA website.
Normally my HTC Desire (running 2.2 rooted) gives the options to link a contact to a account, but i guess this is not build into the app right now?
So what function does the account & sync integration have at the moment?

I get the same. Rooted EVO running 2.2 - no option in Accounts and Sync to sync contacts and no LinkedIN listed under online directories in contacts - therefore no linking contacts with their linked in profiles.
Same here - Rooted Hero 2.2 Sense.
It is possible to click/call on contacts within the LinkedIn application, but no sync with local contacts on the phone.
The app itself looks pretty good to me tough!

I am using Liberated just because of the nice facebook syncing with contacts of the sense (I mean, birthdays - profile pics - statuses etc.). I wanna use CM, but couldn't figure out how can I do same thing in CM. You guys, what are you doing for that? Any suggestion will be appreciated.
P.S: I have tried few 3rd party battery-draining app (which I cant remember the name atm). Is there any real good app to do that like sense does?

Please elaborate on the "birthdays, profile pics, statuses, etc" part...I haven't used sense since day 3 of having my aria so I can't really remember anything about it.
As far as profile pics go, phone numbers, emails, etc...you CAN sync that on CM --
1. settings > accounts & sync > facebook
2. facebook settings > sync contacts > sync all

One thing I would like to point out is that you have to do those steps in the reverse order. aosp won't let you even add facebook as a sync account until you choose to sync contacts via the facebook app.

Thanks I wasn't putting them in any sort of order, but I guess with the numbers it would seem that way...

Thanks. Didnt know native client has sync option :O So does it sync friend's birthdays with your calendar? And about statuses; sense dialer shows your friend's last status messages below their names but I guess it's not possible on native dialer. well its not so important.

Im not sure about the birthdays, but it does sync their status updates to their contact on the phone. If you click their picture it pops up with other options.

You can download a program called ebobirthday it can sync your Facebook birthdays to your calender.

Facebook Account synch was not available in Donut 1.6, so I downloaded the 2.2.1 update from this website for Cricket for both my Zio phones. Both are having the same issue. Contacts --> Menu --> Accounts --> Add Account --> Facebook. This does not work.
After clicking Facebook, it kicks me back one screen without adding it to the list of synched accounts. If I log out of Facebok and clear the data, and re follow the steps above, it displays the log in screeen to facebook. After logging in, it simply brings up my facebook home screen. When I go back into Account & Sync settings, Facebook is still not listed. Is anyone with a Zio, and with the 2.2.1 update having this issue?
I have uninstalled and reinstalled the Facebook app to no avail.
I'm having that same issue. I have been doing some research and will let you know if i find a fix
download syncmypix from the market. It works great unfortunately it does add everyone from your facebook. If it cant find a contact because the name is different just press and hold onto the contact in syncmypix and seletc link to contact and select the contact you have in your phone book and it will sync it.
make sure you have sync turned om from the facebook app itself. open the app, and back out of the newsfeed. press menu > settings and verify you have contact sync turned on.

are you using the app from the market, or one installed from factory?
with the cricket zio it did not have facebook preloaded

I'm running the offical facebook app from the android market and I have the same issue.

I installed the Facebook app from the market and I have the same issue. I am unable to sync Facebook in my contacts.
Im pretty sure this is because there isnt a stock facebook app built into our android version.
And when you think about it, if you install facebook app, it will automatcally sync (in the facebook settings). So theres really no need for android to handle the sync.
Kyocera should have removed this from the sync settings..
I had to do a factory reset. I added Facebook as an account and synced contacts. It doesn't show up in accounts but all my FB contacts are in my contacts now. Sign out of the FB app, uninstall it. Add FB to your accounts. Reinstall. Contacts should be there. Make sure your also signed out of FB in your browser.

Facebook contacts may be added by going to the home screen(or one with sufficient space) and long pressing. The go to folders. Put up Facebook Phonebook. Open it. Go in to each contact individually and add them.

Easiest way I have found to sync facebook contacts is an app called friendcaster. There is a free and pay version on the market place.
I noticed that even though i have Facebook set to sync with existing contacts, it doesn't sync the profile pictures of people with the messaging app. it does show the pictures in Contacts, but not messaging or phone calls. Is there anyway i can do this without any apps from the market? i wanna keep the stock messaging app. Any help or advice is greatly appreciated.

Update on this, I've figured out how to sync my Facebook App with my contacts.
when i launch contacts it shows each persons Facebook Profile picture next to their name, however when I launch messaging or phone, I do not see these pictures, instead they are replaced with the default "No Picture" image
has anyone figured this out?

I would ask in the Rom q&a thread as this should be the normal behavior if the snsprovider etc are incorporated into the Rom. Haven't messed with any of their new stuff but I would assume they have the correct apks included.
Delete all your accounts. Use the integrated Facebook thing in Accounts to sync your Facebook account to your phone. Then install Facebook and Twitter app.
Remember to clear Samsung Mobile in your Facebook App page, otherwise it won't work properly.

Has anyone been able to add their facebook account by going to settings-accounts-facebook?
I installed the facebook app off the market, but when i went under settings it didn't give me the option to sync friends to contacts like it did on my droid.
So went to accounts, add facebook, entered my email, and password, but it wouldn't sign in
Kept giving me a server error, then about every third time it gives an error that says that something is wrong with the device clock and to contact the administrator.
Tried uninstalling the app to see if it was causing problems, but no luck. Anyone been able to sync facebook friends with contacts (its
mainly to get contact pics off facebook)

Edit: Finally got it to work. Only took over a week
When you install Facebook, under the "My Accounts" app, you'll see two entries for Facebook. One is actually for your Facebook app, and one is for Moto's "Social Networking" app. Using the Moto-branded version may offer you additional features.
I've noticed a couple places where you get shafted by Moto software for not using their built-ins. Like the Car Dock front page only links to the Moto Music Player... which has no music because I stream from Google Music.
I believe since OS 2.3 (Gingerbread), the facebook sync with accounts option has been removed from Android.
Easy method, download (free) SyncMyPix from the Market, it will sync facebook pics with matching accounts on your phone into your actual Google Contacts.
I run it once and don't let it do it automatically, just run it whenever I add new contacts.
The sync facebook accounts worked fine on my original droid, its running cyangenmod 7 2.3.3. Thats why it was driving me nuts, could just set the sync settings from the facebook app. Figured it was some moto thing, but didn't know if it was specific to my phone or not.

Looks like the facebook app has removed the settings for syncing contacts. Tried using the Verizon "MyAccounts" app but definitely a little screwy.
fb contacts synced with no problems for me. I used the "social networking" app in the app drawer and entered in my fb info. contacts now have either gmail or fb photo as their contact photo.
I used one of the two in the My Accounts app, contacts synced just fine.
I don't love that when you sync with face book your gallery becomes less about you, and turns into a fb gallery...wish you could turn only that feature off...

in earlier android versions ( Froyo) i used to be able to sync all my facebook contact with my HTC Incredible 2 with ease...now with my nexus it is impossible...any ideas?

Contacts > 3 dots > Manage Accounts > Add Facebook there?
Google removed the native code a few versions ago due to FB privacy policies that are not in the users best interest. Now you have to install the facebook app to make it work. I would not advise it as it is one of the worst coded apps in android.
