Some problems that I had after flash from R1 to R2.
When in camcorder mode the brightness too dark compare to camera mode. The market sometime have problem with network and crash.
GPS it took to 2-3 minutes inside the house to find the signal. R1 is definite faster about 15 seconds. R2 is little bit lagger with Igo navigation maybe I have to Odin back.

This ROM friggin ROCKS!!!! Who need to worry about getting 2.2 or buying a Nexus S. Great work as always Eugene

How/from where do we get Swype on this ROM? I tried one posted by TGA Gunman elsewhere but that complains that Swpye is not configured for this device ...

Yep, root installed.

Does this rom have the toggle buttons (like wifi and rotation) on the notification pulldown? R1 didn't for me but maybe I needed to go to stock before flashing...

Especially Quadrant, which has [nearly] zero correlation to how the phone will perform in real life. Unless you are using it as a gaming device...

I could care less, but it was requested so I posted the results. That's honestly the first time I ever ran a benchmark on my phone. Lol

Well, it's nice sometimes to have an idea of how the ROM runs compared to others...
I notice a difference when one runs at 36 MFLOPS vs 30.... I like quadrant because it passes the time lol.

And rather than asking "So does it run real fast real good?", I requested the accepted, repeatable standard that serves as an imperfect benchmark.
i always felt that quadrant was to easy to be swayed by certain tweaks or hacks thatdont give the real world performance for what the chart would show that it would, i would like to know though, how does this rom run?

Has anyone else had any errors flashing this ROM. I just wiped and reflashed with no problems. Just out of curiosity, do you have an SLCD or AMOLED model?
amoled, I've had it since may. if I remember right I tried flashing an older version of this and had a similar error. it's just strange for that to happen. never had problems flashing anything except an experimental version of cwm, got called into work so ill try and do it someone later this week

Anyone Experience This?

I Recently Went To Remove A App From My Home Screen & When I Did I Noticed The Same App Was Still There In The Same Spot! So For The Hell Of It I Went Ahead & Moved Another App Just To Find Out That Every App & Widget On My Phone Had A Duplicate Under It! I Then Went Ahead And Took Both Off, & Replaced Them With A New Icon (Same-App) & It Seemed That My Phone Got Faster! One Issue Is That The Sense Clock Widget Would Not Recognize Being Long Pressed, So I Had To Reinstall The Clock Widget, Which Automatically Rebooted My Phone For Some Reason! After Reboot All Was Fine, Until Today When It Happened Again.... My Question Is WHAT THE HELL IS CAUSING THIS??

No, I haven't and won't. I don't like sense at all. Plus, it's a sense THEME, not a sense ROM. Sense is tied in with the framework so much you can't just pick and choose what you want from it.

[Q] trouble installing red dawn ROM for cdma hero

Ok, Papa Smurf put together a really good ROM, I'm just such a noob its killing me. All of the Jargon involved in this is very far over my head. whenever one of you guys say any technical term, i literally have to go look the word up. Rooting for most people with a working brain is a cakewalk. That wasn't the case for me. But i stuck in there and got it done.
Then it came time to install the ROM. I looked through the thread that he posted the ROM and never found any real directions. I'm sure this is due to the fact that everyone has enough sense to figure it out on their own.
What i did was went to the ROM manager and installed the ROM, then re-started my phone. it stuck on the htc screen for a minute then the droid eye thing came up and that kept looping. Soo, according to what I understood from the directions....i took the battery out and put it back in. The first problem I am having is how to turn my phone back on now. It's not even recognizing that the charger is plugged in. The second thing i need is for someone to give me any type of directions on hoe to do this the right way. I dont know how to flash the jit file either.
I'm sure i sound like a fool but thats what i am. Thanks ahead of time to anyone who tries to help me.
I got my phone restored back to the way it was before I tried to install the ROM. I just need to get the ROM installed.
I got it I guess. I just restarted my phone about ten times and it eventually took... a red eye popped up and it said "droid" over and over like it has been doing. Then the rotary lock screen came up and i started to set up my phone. but after i finished it went right back to the eye thing. Is it because of the JIT.ZIP file not being installed right?
That's pretty old. Why not try a nice 2.2 or 2.3 based rom? 2.1 is so... old.

Cm7 or aospmod both are fine choices for non sense roms. Not real sure about sense roms, though. LiquidSense, maybe? Remember to wipe everything before you flash a new rom. Dalvik, cache, data all need it when flashing a new one. More than likely, that is what is causing your boot loops. Don't be so hard on yourself, we all were new once. Btw, I said "hard on"! *Beavis laugh*

Finally back on Android! But need some help to get started again!

Hey everyone!
I've had plenty of Android phones through out the years. But recently i had the Iphone 4s. But after 3 months I was so sick of it. So today, i went and bought myself a SGN, and i love it! Have been playing around with it for 1-2 hours now.
I just rooted it via a youtube-clip I found. I'm still on gingerbread though, cuz I don't have a normal sized sim card (the iphone only takes small ones). But here are my questions I need help with.
1) Is there any way to update to ICS without a simcard? Because when I try to update OTA, it just says "Insert simcard".
2) What is your keyboard of choice?
3) I've seen plenty of you guys going in to so called "tablet mode". How do you do that? I want my phone to be in landscape all the time.
4) Is there any good battery packs that works with a flip (book style) case that works like a kickstand if you fold it in a special way? I have seen both good 3rd part batteries AND nice flip book cases that can be folded in to a kickstand, but I want the two of them in one. Or a better battery that are the same physical size as the stock one.
Thanks!
Have a look to my signature, it will be better for good starting

Best keyboard is Swype.
Don't know about SIM free install.
I suspect a CWM install doesn't require a SIM.
Make sure you read Dr. Ketan for all of the critical info you need for safe ROM and kernel flashing.

1st :- You can flash ICS using PC Odin or Mobile Odin Pro. Just download the rom from ketan thread and put your phone in download mode by pressing Vol Down+Home+Power button simultaneously.
2nd :- For me Swiftkey 3. Link - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.touchtype.swiftkey&feature=top-paid
3rd :- Tablet mode is the mode that runs on tablets. But as the developers doing wonders day by day you can use it on SGN too. There are some roms in Original Android Development Thread that supports Tablet mode like Paranoid Android/Milestone 6/JB/CM10/CM9 editions. Link to thread :- http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1700
4th :- You can have a look in the accessories section here :- http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1348

I think I've messed up a bit haha. I flashed ICS with PC odin, and everything was fine. But I wanted do try Paranoidandroid. And in that thread it said that you should go back to GB before flashing it. So i did via the link in your signature. I flashed back to GB. But now my phone got messed up. I can boot it up. But at the "first-start-installation" thingy i get FC's on RAM and some calender stuff. Also, when i try to type in my gmail in the beginning it just types "null" for every letter I try to write.
Have i been so stupid and bricked my phone? Could it be that your GB in your signature was a full wipe recovery thing? Cuz I remembered somewhere that you shouldn't wipe the stock ICS.
You have any plans?
As for now, i'm downloading Paranoidandroid v0.5 and i'm going to try to flash it right away and see what happends.
Nothing to.worry, just reboot in recovery and wipe cache and data then flash custom rom.
Force closes is normal when you flash gb rom over ics. And null typing error will go with mew rom.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
ok so i got ParanoidAndroid to work. No problem. The only problem I have now is installing the gapps. can't find the zip file for it. On the link in the thread, there's like 12 different files, but no complete zip file for gapps. And I tried to download them all, but them on my sd card and install. But all of them fails. it's like frameworks, some settings thingy n stuff. But non of them works to install from the recovery menu.

It's amazing. I haven't seen any problems at all with it. Both speed and stability. Full blown tablet mode 24/7 and it works AND looks great!

Awesome.
Is it good as a phone?
Does it have the Swype keyboard?
I am waiting for the NoteCore UniKernel to be stable and fully functional with PA. Once it is I think I will give it a go.

[ROM]Team Haters GUMMY 1.2

Earlier I was searching for the gummy rom, but found that ALL links were taken down, But when I was looking through my SDcard I found the zip for the rom!
Pretty nice! This rom would be my favorite, however When I flash it, my home button doesn't do anything, I even used the NavBar, didn't do anything.
Wipe dalvik, cache, factory reset, and system.
CHEERS!
If you need a different rom, I have a literal SH*TLOAD of roms.
I prefer not to use Gapps, but you certainly can.
Camera is operable, but no camcorder or panorama
***I DID NOT MAKE THIS ROM***

any issues besides the home button?it seems every rom has issues when it comes to the droid 3,even the stock ones. i just need a stock based one that has good battery and decent cpu/memory management.

It seems like SteelDroid 5.6 had a good battery life, until I flashed gapps. I got gummy because the ui was smoother than sd5.6, but that home button is a big issue.
Can you post more of the roms you have?

What roms do you need?
Idk I'm new to the droid 3 scene. You wouldn't happen to have liquidsmooth 3 would you? Minimoto or any of the jellybean roms?

I don't think flashing gapps is recommended. Google maps does not play well, for sure.

So the gummy roms home issue is fixed with gapps oddly enough. I've tested myself anybody else care to confirm?

The home button may be as simple as a button in /system/usr under some text file in the keymap folder I think. You may copy it from a CM 9-10 ROM. I don't have a D3 anymore but saw this and was happy to see it posted because it is such a cool ROM.

If I did that and got it to work, would I be allowed to call it Gummy 1.3 or 1.2.1
Or would I get in trouble

Just post your sources, and how you changed it, and it should be ok.
