So I have an issue. I'm running the leaked froyo rooted. I noticed that ever since I upgraded to froyo market downloads are excruciatingly slow and the market is just slow period. Even with the new market. I also get a lot of failed downloads. Anyone know what could be the cause? I have a 6mbit/ second connection. I know its not the phone because browsing the web and any other network traffic is very fast.

With leaked froyo or any froyo rom every body gets the same android id. Because there could be hundreds of people trying to download apps at the same time with the same id it can slow down.
The way ro fix this is to fish back to stock using odin. On stock you will get your id back. Download android id changer from market. Save id, created a file on your sd. When you flash any version of froyo you can download same app click load id click change. Now you are unique again

Thanks! Glad to know that the issue is known. I'm going to just wait for the official update then. I hate having to reload alll my apps

1. Install stock 2.1
2. Install "ID" from market and take a backup of the android id
3. Install the 2.2 ROM of ur choice
4. Get the 'android id changer' from the market
5. Copy the android id from 2.1 onto whatever ROM u installed
Problem solved
Problem solved. Did some more research just cleaned the cache and now I'm back to super fast downloads. 4mb in 10 seconds

I actually didn't upgrade market this way but it got updated on it's own but reverted back to original market because it wouldn't let me upgrade or download new apps it would say it download it but it would never install them. So for now I'll be sticking to the old market. In case you want the old market pull it from stock rom or a rom like plainjane and then replace it and delete the market updater this will let you keep the market without it getting updated.

Did you try restarting after installing the new market? I was having trouble with it as well, but after a restart it was able to download and install apps again.

I noticed that too; I think it automatically flags all Google apps for auto-update.

I'm on xtrRom 4.6. I downloaded the file and it works great! The only problem is that I can't get my downloads to show up when I try to access them in the market. I have already tried a reboot. Does anyone have any other suggestions?
Thanks,

I guess that there are no other ideas. Can anyone describe the steps to take in order to get the regular market back?

Also getting a parse error when attempting to install.
Ok so each time i flash a froyo based rom my market and downloads are screwed up. They never download and get stuck at certain %. So i was wondering if its possible to take the market from 2.1 and put it into 2.2? Or is there i a fix for it?

Have you made a android of stock? If so you can extract it from the datadata in the backup. Copy it to pc then open in notepad. Search Android _Id. If no-go back to stock then download Android Id. Change from market. Open app then click save Id. Flash froyo then download app again and restore Id you saved.

You actually have to clear market data. Then the market works but changing the id may be nessacay if you want to sync with AppBrain and some other apps that require your unique id #.
Thx mcord i will try that.

Try to clear your data in download manager.
Settings, applications, manage applications, all, download manager, clear data.
Cleared data, still no go. This is a fresh install from yesterday btw.

I would just go back into recovery, clear dalvik, clear cache and flash the ROM again.
Ill try that

Thanks, but doesn't work for me. If I use MarketEnabler, I can finde the music app in the Market, but it refuses to install, claiming that it's invalidly signed.
If I download the apk from the link above, package installer terminates with a simple 'not installed' message.

I get the same thing here after upgrading to Gingerbread (Overcome) - I used MarketEnabler to download it from the Market; happily running under Overcome 1.6.x (Froyo) but after Gingerbread all it does is force close upon running.

Yeah Google Music crashes each time since the Gingerbread update... Overcome and Stock too
Here too
Euro tab GSM, running GB overcome 2.0 beta 2
Sent from my GT-P1000 using XDA App
I pinned down the crashes to two reasons:
Obviously Samsung built our 2.3.3 on rather outdated code and modified some pieces of the mediaprovider...
Usually, the Stock-Music apk allows access to the MediaPlayBackService and Google temporarily revoked access in 2.3.3, so Samsung thought it would be a great opportunity to **** around with the existing code and Changed some things in the Stock MediaProvider-Service thingy
That's the major reason why the Google Music Beta crashes in 2.3.3 but works great in 2.2
So it is not a "Google Thing", it is a "Samsung Thing" and Samsung would have to fix that.. We all know that this won't be likely to happen, so there are two possibilities I see here... We fix it ourselves or someone clever ports the MediaProvider including access to the MediaPlayBackService from the current CyanogenMod 7.something builds to the Galaxy tab. I tried and failed as the modules crashed on boot and I had to reflash the whole system
Anyone interested in getting that done? I'd do it, but I've too little time at the moment to get it done properly :-/ it shouldn't be that hard anyways, I guess...
Someone needs to make this work. I have all my devices working beautifully with Google music without a problem except on my galaxy tab running overcome 2.0.

I can confirm that the latest update of google music works on galaxy tab with Gingerbread

Have you tried deleting the application data and reboot then? :-/ I used the official market version btw. but that shouldn't make much difference... as I pulled it directly after the install from my tab.
I have started to set up my old G1 as a back up phone to my Galaxy Tab 7.7 and one of the apps i want to install is XDA Premium but i can not find it. Please note that i have just recently rotted my G1, in the process to install custom recovery and update radio. Any suggestions?
untill you upgrade you may not find it, some apps won't work or even show up in the market on older roms, I assume you are donut and probably need to get to either eclaire or froyo before it will show
alternatively you can try a google search for the .apk and manually load it, it may fail but worth a shot
