Battery drain Darkys 5.6 - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys,
Can please anybody help me with my battery problem in Darkys 5.6 Rom? This night I lost 47% within 8 hours in standby with only wifi on all the time. With the stock JPO with OCLF installed i only had battery drain of 1-2% per hour with the same wifi configuration. Does anybody has this problem, too?

check if any program prevent your phone go to sleep.
under partial awake

There is nothing special. On the top was Android System with really little use...

i have the same problem. in just ~2h i lost ~ 30% in standby with no wifi or something else and ~180mb free ram. i have the same apps that i used in other builds without problems. so.... ?

I have same issue.. i have everything disabled.. from GPS to Data service.. believe me everything.. I even keep my brightness at zero...
Still every 15 mins.. I see the battery bar going down.. I dont sms .. I just turn on the screen to see the battery

Me again:
I flashed on Darkys 6.0 and flashed the BUJP5_Modem.zip, too. After that i deleted the batterystats with sgs tools, but I still got battery drain of 4% per hour... In the partial awake there is only Android System with 8 min 47 sec...

[Question]Display drains Battery after flashing XXJPK for days

Hi experts here,
I am new i9000 user coming from G2.
I flashed XXJPK for days, found that my battery drops very fast.
I stop all data access at night and the battery still drops...
I found that the 'Display' uses > 80% !! (even when I slept for 8 hours)
Attached is the screen cap of my battery stats..
Do anyone has the same issue?
This is Android Development, not Questions & Answers! Please post in the right sections!
What have you installed after JPK? Task killer? Lag fix?
Mine is not doing that. I did a hard-reset yesterday, installed my apps (no task killer, no root, no lag fix) and disabled everything (WiFi, bluetooth, GPS, 3G, autosync). Battery did not drop even 1% in 6 hours.
Display should not take any battery if it's off. Maybe you have something that awakes the phone constantly. Check autorefresh on weather, e-mail, twitter, news feeds... I usally have that disabled or set to 8 hours minimum.
got the same problem here.. i do got the docrom (custom rom) ,auto killer installed and lagfix (OCLF v2+) it goes from 100% to about 60% in 9 houres.. without doing a thing.. on top of that i got juicedefender ultimate installed.. but it doesnt seem to help at all..
The problem is why the 'Display' uses > 80% while I off the screen for hours?
Got the same problem here. I just reverted back to jm8 (eclair 2.1) with takayuma Rom.. I think all froyo versions have battery draining issue
I think, you guys must make this and maybe fix battery issue:
Refreshing battery stats after Odin or flashing (important)
or me personal, for my Galaxy very helpfull was this HTC Desire methode:
[HOW TO] Calibrate Desire Battery

I'm having exactly same problem with you. My brightness is 75% even in sleep mode and it drains the battery. I guess thats the main culprit to solve my battery draining issue. I wonder why it happens to certain people, because some users only have 48% for brightness and their battery can last more than a day
** apparently using Eclair 2.1 doesn't solve the issue as my brightness is still 70% ... I've tried the batterystats.bin fix and same thing happens. Damn !

It's true. JM8 and the battery fix doesn't help.
But I found that when I turn my connection from 3G mode to Wifi mode, my battery drops only 10% overnight.
I think there is some problem in the 3G connection.
Do you think this is kernel related?
One way to keep the drain down is getting a black theme such as the Transparent theme and setting a black background. Because of the AMOLED screen black is basically 'pixel off'. It helps just a bit.
I have similar experiences with WiFi vs. 3G, 3G drains battery awfully fast whereas WiFi seems to be consuming significantly less power.

Battery problem

I've updated to DOC & Kalpik's new v6 from 5.1.1, and charged 100% before I went to sleep. In the morning(6,5 hours) the battery was 79% with screen off, wifi on(never sleep).
Even if wifi was on, I don't think it's normal(3g should eat more), so I wiped the system. Now I'll put the applications back day by day, and let you, and other people know what eats the battery.
Okay, a bit of an update:
If in 6 hours battery dropped 20%, battery should drop 3% in 1 hour. I was letting phone alone for 1 hour, and battery dropped 4%!!!!
Completely new system, it's newly wiped v6. Spare parts says: running 30%, screen on: 30%. No app, that uses cpu too much.
Installed applications:
- Spare part, Swiftkey keyboard, Astro, Battery indicator, autokiller.
wifi on : never sleep. Stock adw.
Any idea what eats the battery? I just wiped the system from clockwork!!
Froyo, that's what.

Is it?
With Doc's rom it shouldn't be a problem. It's highly optimised to battery consumption. I remember having version 5f of that ROM, and battery life was excellent! I don't know what happened...
1% battery drain every 3 MINUTES
One more thing I have to add:
I have 1% battery drain every 3 MINUTES if I'm browsing stock browser. Now that's waaaaaay too much!
What I do wrong?? Or is it normal?!

Battery life
I managed 6 days straight hehe with old style phone use, no gaming, no serfing, just 5-10min call time avg per day, a bt headset connected 5hrs avg per day, screen brightnes set to auto. Just once connected over wifi to download 1-2 apps and 10mb files. Fully charged on Saturday around 1pm, empty battery today about 2pm. While idle the battery drops 1% every 6hrs.
Won't do it again though, cause this is not what the phone is made for , i realy missed it during this test
You will get 1% per 3 minutes of high cpu and screen use (browsing)
It ends up at about 100-0% in 5 hours
That is what I usually get out of my battery on all firmwares, watching video's last longer though, 6+ hours
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
i have the same problem...
last week when i was testing doc/kalpik's or 2.1 rom i got 3% out of 6hrs standby.
last night it drained 25% on sleep! (maybe sleep is disabled somehow? or a tweak that is preventing it from sleeping properly?)
anywho.. before all this happened i noticed that the phone started to lagg (not the normal pause or two.. you could not do anything without it lagging..) it started to drain the battery (1% every 1-2min, screen on but not doing anything).. it went back to normal when i disabled usb debugging mode.. (very strange)
maybe there is a fix to this?
cheers

[Q] Battery drain when idle....

just notice battery drain is getting worse when i tested after i charge my i9000 and left it overnight... at first, it only consume 1% after 5 hours of idle (while i was sleeping).... recently i notice it drained about 5%... an increment of 4% without any usage... does anyone here have the same problem? could it be hardware problem or should i flash a newer version of firmware to test it out? i've turned bluetooth, wifi, gps, 3g/edge off... meaning that i should have nothing running in the background... not even backup...
Under battery history (easily accessible thru SGS tools or Spare Parts), is Gallery reported as using the sensor while your phone is on standby?
My battery drains about 1% every 10 hours of standby. I had to do some tweaks however - flashed back from JPO to JM9. I'm running OCLF lag fix and 'advanced task killer' to get rid of unwanted processes. maybe this could help...

Drain while standby

my note is draning 1 percent every 10 minutes
when in standby
after downloading cpu spy i discovered that deep sleep was 1% and 200MHZ was 84%
it has something to do with it?
also in battery usage
android os is 57%
any fix?
by the way
im running ics stunner rom
The Note's battery is a POS... If you want to partially solve it you'll have to keep both wifi and data off.
i kind of found a way now deep sleep is on
but what do you mean POS
Have you changed anything in the last days? Installed any suspicious apps, or changed any settings?
If you found the problem now, then maybe you can also calibrate your battery just in case it "lost" some performance. To be sure!
Use Battery calibration or wipe Battery stats in Recovery, Anvanced menu (after you fully charged your device).

Xperia SP battery issue?

Hi
I think I might have an issue with the battery on an xperia sp which I got a few days ago. When idle with stamina on it's loosing between 1-2% per hour. I've used Gsam and recorded some stats to show what's using up the battery when the phone is not in use. Hope it makes some sense
loosing ~2% per hour phone in idle screen off
Stamina on, GSM only
Tried airplane, not much difference
Tried Stamina off, no difference
Charged to 95%
61% @ 10:16PM
34% battery use - of that
screen 56.3% (1hr 47min)
phone radio 6.5%
wifi 3.7%
apps 33.3%
TOTAL DRAIN ON BATTERY
-------------------
19% screen (avg 0.18% per minute)
2% phone radio
1.2% wifi
11% apps
____________________________________________
13 HOURS IDLE LATER - 17-20% BATTERY GONE
____________________________________________
44% @ 11.04AM(QUICKLY DROPPED TO 41% in around 2
minutes)
51% battery use - of that
screen 49.8% (1hr 48min)
radio 13.1%
wifi 7.4%
apps 29.6%
TOTAL DRAIN ON BATTERY
-------------------
screen 25.4% (WHY THE INCREASE of 6.4% when OFF all the time?)
radio 6.6% (+4.6%)
wifi 3.78% (+2.58%)
apps 14.8% (+3.4%, not sure why, stamina turns off all apps?)
6.4 + 4.6 + 2.6 + 3.4 = 17%
Why are these using up so much power in idle with stamina mode on?
Hello,
remove your simcard, reboot, got in to flightmode and let Wifi enabled.
now let phone unused for 8hours. its all Ok then accu should drain only 0,05%/h.
This is my XSP which i use only as alarmclock an every day 1 hour as Musicplayer.
I have tried without the sim card but it didn't do anything.
I notice in your screenshot though that there is no connection to 'mobilfunknetzsignal' ... mine is there even when the sim card is out, how did you get rid of it?

You must enable the flightmode under "settings->network->more" .
and then please install BetterBatteryStats to see if you have wakelocks and your device go in to deepsleep after turn of the screen.

Ah yes.. I tried flight mode one night and it still lost 15%
I have also used wakelock detector and it says phone is in deep sleep 99 percent of the time but still the battery is draining 1-2% per hour
Right now the battery is 27% down from 44% 2 hours ago... and I have hardly used it. I'll recharge and try again without turning screen on at all and see whats using it up.
Is there any explanation why the screen used 6.4% of the battery overnight when it was off all the time?
I'm too having about same problem..and am really interested in answer/solution,,,
Please, anyone?
I think I have fixed it but not sure. Phone was charged 24 hours ago to 99%, now its 94%. Definitely not using alot of power with stamina mode now but the screen was only used for 5-10 minutes, I've yet to test if it acts the same after screen has been used for a long time before going idle.
What I did was run phone setup again and update all apps
Now 88% after 40 hours, screen on for 25 minutes. Xperias battery monitor and gsam show completely different usage, android system takes up the majority in the xperia one but only 10% in gsam (under apps)
I checked wakelock detector and something called 'syncloopwakelock' was on for 4 and half hours. Is there any way to disable this? I already have auto sync in settings turned off.
A phone is meant to be used. Using it only from time to time to have as much standby time as possible is just a waste of a good phone.
I can get two days with heavy use. A lot of music, whatsapp, facebook and XDA Premium app..

I know, but there was a clear issue before as the battery was draining 20 percent overnight reducing the time I can actually use it. I was getting 5 hours screen on time one day, and only 2 hours the next. Just trying to make sure it has stopped, seems like it has
Would like to solve this syncloop thing though. I have no interest in syncing any accounts as I don't use them.
Simple fix
Change your rom, stock rom eats so much battery and has so many bloats, apps keep running in the background all sony apps.
MIUI is on jellybean and it gives me average of 1 day 20hours on normal use with wifi always on and sim card inserted..texting call and stuff
Problem has returned, woke up today to find battery under 50% and it was at least 75% when I went to sleep. Wakelock detector doesn't show anything and says phone was asleep all the time. Sony's battery graph though shows the phone was awake most of the time, but I can't find the cause in GSam or wakelock detector.
i think i have a idea. it can come from WiFi. there is a bug in all android 4.1. Set Wifi to allways on and deactivate/delete LocationBasedWiFi app from sony.
you can found it with BetterBatteryStats under Process.
Some screenshots
in this screenshoots the problem is not shown. When it comes from WiFi driver it is not a app that drain the accu, but a process.
The Line with awake in history details you can ignore, its buggy in 4.1.
I have searched through everything in Wakelock Detector and only process I found with alot of time is syncloopwakelock which is 4.5 hours. But this was already about 4 hours when battery was 85%
If I buy BetterBatteryStats will this show the problem? As you an see it drained at slow rate for 2 days then suddenly started dropping faster yesterday. I made no changes to Wifi settings, it is always on ... and I use Stamina mode.
Yes BBS will show the problem as "wifistatemachine", if the error should really be come from. you must not buy it, search on XDA for apk.
but if it come from your syncloopwakelock then i can not help.
Holy crap
I charged the phone to 96%, used it for 30 min (down to 92 percent) then went to sleep. Woke up and it was 28% and kept dropping !!! I've checked BBS, Gsam and I can't find the cause... again. After uploading these SS its at 12 percent.
