[Q] How to buy paid apps from market (Rooted NC) - Nook Color General

Hello,
I want to buy a few paid apps (ezPdf, Doc2go) for nook color. But the market displays only free apps. How do I buy some paid apps?
Thanks

My market shows paid apps and I'm able to install and use them just fine.
What method to get the marketplace did you use?
Might want to try again using autonooter.

i can only see free apps there, but i think it is because of a restriction for paid apps for my country..... as i understand, there is only a few countries that can access the paid applications.
they dont want us to do piracy... but they dont allow us to pay for apps.....

i have the same problem, i heard something about a market enabler app, but i'm still a noob yet

Also have the same issue any fixes ?

i installed a program called Market Access which spoofs the SIM card information to the market so it thinks you are from an authorized country.
now all paid apps are displayed for me
the program can be found here:

This is likely your problem if you are overseas. I have a similar issue in Korea. Video games in Korea are required to have their content reviewed and rated so they are only sold to the appropriate ages. Consequently all games on the Korean Android market have been blocked in Korea because of the lack of a rating system on the Android Market.
I use an app called MarketEnabler (looks like the same thing as the Market Access app linked to you above) to get around this problem. It basically lets me access markets from other carriers in other countries. It may be available on your Android Market. Send me a PM if you are unable to find a solution on your own.

Android Market alternatives for those with no access to Market

It's apparent some carriers are not supporting the Android Market.
For those that don't have access to the Market and want access to apps, have you tried getting SAM (app store) client for your G1 from SlideME.org?
http:/slideme.org/sam2.apk
Anyone in the world can use SAM to safely buy and download with no limitations and without entering any sensitive info such as credit card details from your phone.
The only thing is that you will not see as many apps as you would on the Market, but with users help & input one day developers will realize that stocking Android Market alone does not do any good for marketing their apps to the international communities. Not to mention that the rest of the world will be hesitant to provide even their shopping habits to google.
So, you could look for apps on SlideME or Cyrket that has all the apps on Market and contact the developer and ask them to get their act together to stock other stores such as SlideME.org for this exact reason. Not everyone has access to the Android Market!!!
Follow apps from http://twitter.com/slideme if you like.
Here is an earlier announcement from SlideME team: http://www.prweb.com/releases/android/slideme/prweb2035414.htm
I am in India. and i was missing buying the apps..but not anymore..There aren't as many apps as on the market but then its just the begining...
thank you.
do we get automatic upgrades etc from you like the market provides- i looked at using slideme but wasnt sure how you would get the free upgrades for apps u have already paid for...i am in australia.
I haven't heard promising things about SlideMe's DRM solution, which appears to constantly contact the Slideme store when normal apps downloaded from Slideme are running, and not just the SlideMe market.
It looks good, and will probably be accepting Paypal. Nice alternative!
So what are developers to do? Well, recently I bashed on the SlideLOCK in a previous post… Though - the more I looked at it, this seems like the best option for developers to protect their applications. Though, hopefully google will remedy this solution and fast. Until then though, strike-one google market.

The last time I used Slideme it never showed updated or new apps so I had no idea when to look. Has this since been changed?
yeah- i want to know as well if you get automatic updates for each program bought?
We do updates for any downloaded apps. Maybe you have tried an old version of SAM.

Some apps not available to me.

Can someone please explain why some apps..such as Pure Calendar Widget..arent available to me?...When I search for it or read the barcode for it I get no results?...though others seem to find them. Also Camera Zoom which is always recommended is a no go.
I have a TMO USA phone and buy other apps from the market.
thanks
What region are you in and what provider?
You could be locked out by these things -- if so check out market enabler.
Tmobile. United States.
There's some threads with manual configurations for Market Enable.. Search tool will make the trick... if not google knows everything ehehehhe
Well I am still not getting an answer to my question Why are only some paid apps available and some are not?
Is this the way it is for everyone?

Yes it is, depending on the regions, there are or not some application. This is why the purpose of the creation of the Market Enabler.
Some but not all
It is not as straight-forward as that. You can use market enabler and see some paid apps but not all of them show up (for me for example). I cannot see Pure Calendar Widget either although I can see and purchase tons and tons of other paid apps. If harsaphes is already on T-Mobile, they probably don't need Market Enabler to fake that they are on T-Mobile...
The difference may be something to do with "paid" apps vs. "paid and protected/drm" apps. I am not sure though. I have not found a definitive explanation to this problem nor a solution.
Would this also pretain to the amazon mp3 app which can not be installed with any market other than the US version on US android phones? Or is there a way to push this app in manual..?

Root phone, install Market Enabler which will allow your phone to pretend that it is in a different market (ie one with paid apps available). Works great. I am in Canada, which does not have paid apps yet, and use it to buy apps. This was the main reason I rooted my phone.
I live in Norway and we don't have access to paid apps yet.
I did install Market Enabler, and got access, but when I'm buying, after I've input credicard information, nothing happens. The phone tries to connect and eventually I get an errormessage that a connection could not be etablished (or something in that effect)
I chose Market Enabler 3 (beta) as I'm using a Hero ROM. (Old version does not work), and I choose o2 (de) as provider.
Any tips?
tried using Slideme, it is an alternative market that works outside of the android market.
Thanks for the replies! I rooted my phone finally (using flashrec) and by the way updated to some hero ROM (myhero-1.1.1 to be exact) and used Market Enabler. Works really well so far, I haven't had time to try to actually purchase anything yet, but I can see paid apps now.
I love the HTC Sense look and feel, but I there are some bugs that weren't present in the vanilla magic (skippy music, worse jabber integration, etc).
It's amazing how easy it is to root and flash your phone these days, I remember last time I was thinking about it the howto scared the hell out of me. And I'm a developer (just a lazy one).
Just purchased my frist app on Android Market
There was one issue, maybe this will help someone: When I entered my credit card details on my phone it didn't work - there was some kind of server error. I had to go to google checkout using browser on my computer, enter my cc details and then I was able to buy apps off android market.

Try setting up your Google checkout account using a PC based browser. Once you do that you should only be shown the price and have to confirm to buy.
That worked for me.

[A] Qik for P1010 Galaxy Tab WIFI

so if anyone has picked up the P1010, you'l notice that thei Qik app just says "service will be available soon" when you click on it. Also, Qik will not show up in the market.
I got around this by rooting, getting Market Enabler and setting it to Verizon. You can then find Qik in the Market. Setting it to T-mo gives a different version which didn't work. Just FYI for the wifi owners who wanted Qik running.
Also for the registration signup, you can just use any cell # that you have access to for SMS to "confirm" and it will still go through your GT.
SWEET

awsome dude thanks i have been looking for a work around. i dont understand why they even put it on there if it doesnt work for the p1010...samsung is really lacking support for the p1010 . but i guess thats why we have ROOT access and this wonderful site full of users like u and i .thanks again
PS...where can i find the ""Market Enabler"" i am guessing on the web sites like 4shared (site where i find all apps free and 3rd party )
OPENED my eyes and....
so i looked on the market place for this app and found it by typing "market enabler" (there are 2 apps by this name the choice is urs)
App description
Market Enabler lets you access paid apps in Android Market
For some apps are just enabled for some specific country and not available to the other countries,so it is very difficult to download many high quality software.Market Enable lets you access paid apps from countries where paid apps are not yet available.
This application need Rooted phone!
It is not permanent, will be original after reboot or flight mode!(so if you want to back to default market, just reboot or reset flight mode)
Thanks MarketEnabler and Market Enabler Codes.

[SOLVED] ICS breaks method to purchase apps

This is for people who live in countries where paid apps are not available on the Android Market. I used to use Market Enabler to access paid apps and purchase them. After stock ICS I can still see paid apps but I am not able to purchase them, always get hit with "The item you were attempting to purchase could not be found". Also, Market Enabler's auto fake on boot does not work. I have tried clearing data and uninstalling the Market app's updates. No go.
Has anyone found a way to continue purchasing paid apps after the ICS update?
Here is a logcat of the problem. Apologies, first and last bump.
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1vF6X4L99u7Yug96pZ0-iWLkAZ81SIg2zKiPDd_rQsFs/edit
Update
I used the web market to try and purchase an app, I was prompted to enter new credit card details from a "supported billing country". So I used a virtual US credit card and was able to make the purchase.
My problem now is not spoofing the market. Using Market Access or Market Enabler, I am able to gain access to a US market that shows paid apps and the like. The issue is with purchasing them, Google no longer accepts my cards that are from the UAE, it will only accept cards whose billing address is from a supported country. My other cards appear greyed out both on the web market and on my phone. Can anyone confirm this?
The card that is available is a virtual one I attained through www.usunlocked.com Unfortunately, using this card is not very viable due to the high per-transaction fee of 50 cents. That seems to be an additional 50 cents on every app I purchase! Google's really ****ed me for trying to do things the right way.
Solved : Use Market Access and if Google won't accept your credit card due to the address not being from a "supported billing country", edit the card details in Google Wallet and use a US address.
Thanks to Anomaly for sharing his method.
